Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Dallas, TX

Run Away From Them.

I'll start by saying that everyone says "there are no good moving companies"..Well, D&J LLC takes this to another level. They win the award for worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

If I could give them zero stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are a bunch of scammers, thieves, and their customer service is non-existent. They honestly act like they're doing you a favor to take your money and deliver you shards of your belongings..assuming you actually receive it at some point. They DNGAF about you once they get your deposit.

I hired them because their agent, Jorde Hosang, was very responsive. I have to say, he was the only not-terrible part of this whole experience.

Long story short, they BROKE or LOST absolutely everything I own, including completely shattering my flat screen TV that they charged me to pack on my behalf. The corners of all my furniture is chipped, dented or broken. They were the most expensive estimate I got by a long shot, but due to Jorde's responsiveness I chose to book with them.

They ended up charging me double my original quote (so double the already expensive quote I got) when you consider all their misc add-on fees (or bribes in this case). They also conveniently "lost" the one box they packed for me (by the way, they insisted on consolidating some smaller items, charged me for a wardrobe box and tape. Therefore they knew the exact contents of this box), which included my new Dyson vacuum, some antique silver, a couple framed pieces of artwork, a small rug and a paper shredder.

I should have listened to the negative reviews..I'm kicking myself for using these guys, and more so for trusting them when they said that "the negative reviews are only because of the fires in California, which caused a backlog in our warehouse. But we can assure you that everything is OK now"..that's complete BS. Also, double check the positive reviews - the "authors" have written a myriad of super-positive reviews for a ton of moving companies. They're either bot-generated, or people that are paid to write fake reviews.

I'm now dealing with a 3rd party for the claims on my stuff because that's what they're insisting I do. D & J LLC. does not care about their customers, and they act like they're doing you a favor to take your money and break/lose your stuff. Oh, and they insist on taking cash at the end, and won't start unloading the stuff until you pay them. So you have no clue that everything is broken/stolen until they're paid in full.

AWFUL COMPANY. AWFUL PEOPLE.

I'll make an update to this review if they do anything to make this right. But as of now, I would have honestly been better off to sell my stuff for pennies on the dollar and re-buy it in my new location - at least then I wouldn't have had the financial cost and stress/angst of dealing with these people.

RUN AWAY. Literally, book with ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

From CA - FL.

I never like strangers to touch my stuffs when I want to move. But, this time I had no option than to hire a moving company. In that regard, I hired D&J moving reluctantly without knowing that they are just perfect and team of trained movers. The guys perfected the entire work and offered amazing moving experience which I never expected for my move. Thank you for this amazing moving experience.

Long-distance move from Odessa, TX to Danville, PA

Worst service ever.

Hired D&J for a move on June 2018 from Texas to Pennsylvania.
They pushed pretty hard for me to give the deposit on the 1st call (to block the competitors I guess)
I gave the deposit 1 month in advance to my move. It was a pretty small one (405cf).
Without news from them I called back a few days before the move and been told that I would be contacted by the crew the day before the move.
The move was to take place on a Tuesday, with a backup day on the Wednesday.
I had no news on the Monday and assumed they would be there on the backup day.
No news either on the Tuesday so I called them back. I have been told that Odessa, TX was not a very active area (which is wrong, it’s a booming oilfield town, the most active area in the US) and that no Truck was going that direction. They had a truck available for the Thursday after another pickup bigger than expected and so they were not sure to pick up all my stuff.
I didn’t have much choice than trying it.
On the Thursday the truck didn’t show up.
On the Friday they finally admitted that they would not take care of the move and that I should look for another solution.
As almost everybody, I was on a deadline to vacate my apartment and didn’t appreciate the late answer.
Over those days I called them 14 times. Every time I have been told that they would call me back. They NEVER called me back.
It then took them several days to wire my deposit back.
Worst service ever.

Long-distance move from Boulder, CO to Pittsfield, MA

Do Not Use Them!

Could be the worst people EVER! Sales team very nice and I paid deposit for a move from Boulder, CO to Massachusetts, that's the last contact I had with the saleswoman, she never answered another call from me. Set the date and packed everything according to their requests (18x18x18 boxes). Flew to Colorado to help with the packing and called early in the morning for an update. Waited on hold for 29 minutes and they said..coming, just delayed. Called again at 1 and was put on hold with no one getting back on the line. Around 4 called again, as we sat on packed boxes, and they said "we aren't coming". I asked if they meant they weren't coming today and they would be there tomorrow?? and they said "No, we aren't coming at all, maybe we could get you next month". Now we had to scramble to get out of our rental. No one at this company showed an ounce of sorrow. No one cared. No suggestions on what to do, not compensation, nothing. How do people like this put their heads on their pillows at night? They left a mother and child 2000 miles from their destination high and dry without any concern. Do yourself a favor..DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible people.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY

Do Not Use.

For the past three months, I have had to deal with the inconsistent lies from D&J moving. My first date of delivery was August 8th 2018. Since the week before that date, they have been telling me my things were on a truck leaving Thursday/Friday and that it would arrive Tuesday or Wednesday of the week after. Nothing has ever come. During those three weeks of being told this I spoke with 5 different employees (Jen, Maria, Diego, Andrew, Justin), some were terribly rude, others came off nice but all told me a different story, a different timing estimate and when I questioned the conflicting stories they pretend like they had no idea what I was saying and basically claimed I was lying. When I ask them about why they lie about the things, they say they have never, that they are just relaying information given to them by their dispatcher. Aside from that they have told me that the "delay in delivery" has had to do with them taking on too many jobs, that it was busy season, that there was natural disasters and that there are was issues with the trucking company and their license. I have asked repeatedly to get the address of the location of my things in California so I can book another company to pick them up since it seem like they are too busy and after almost a month I have yet to receive the information. The owners also seem to have no idea where their warehouse are, claiming they don't keep the information in their offices, that only the dispatcher in California has it but he doesn't know where anything is. Very reassuring as a customer to know the owners of the moving company you hired have no tracking system in place. They will only communicate with me via phone and have not responded to any of me emails the past two months. I have had to report them to the BBB, to the FMCSA, The Attorney General's office and the AMSA. I have also spoken to multiple people on YELP dealing with similar issues since as early as APRIL or MARCH of 2018. Some have been told upon receiving their goods that they must pay an exorbitant amount of money above the binding estimate otherwise they will not get their things. It is sad and frustrating that they have had to go through this and know that I my have to do the same. IF my things are even existing still int he possession of D&J Movings employee for hires in California. On October 3rd they responded to my BBB complaint stating my things were "Out for Delivery" and no other information. NO ONE from the company called or emailed me directly to give me this information. When I call I get put on hold for 15+ minutes, Diego the owner who has answered all my phone calls up to last week is never around or too busy to take my calls, and according to the rest of the employees he is the only one who deals with my files so they can't speak to it. All I want is my stuff or to at least to know where it is so I can start figuring out how to proceed if they are lost forever. I am tired of the lies and the runaround. These people have absolutely no compassion and take advantage of customers who are mentally and physically exhausted after a big move and just want to settle down in their new homes. It's heartbreaking to have trusted these people with everything I basically own and possibly never seeing it again. If you made it this far, don't use this company.

Long-distance move from Hanford, CA to Abilene, TX

Don't Hire D&J Moving LLC.

D&J Moving (DJM) was contracted on or around June 16, 2018, to perform the service of moving property from our residence in California, to a residence or storage facility in Texas. A move was planned once our residence sold. At that time, a detailed estimate was completed via telephone by Richard (no last name given), an employee at DJM, for the quoted price of $7,006.60. The initial estimate was to complete an interstate move of approximately 1,300 cubic feet of property. A deposit of $2,550.00 was required and paid, to reserve our transaction. Additionally, the property was to be stored in a storage facility in Los Angeles, California, for a period of 30-days at no additional cost.
On Monday, July 16, 2018, DJM loaded our household items to complete the contracted move. Prior to completion of loading, the “lead” crewmember of a 5-person team, stated there was “approximately 400 additional cubic feet” of personal property that, if I wanted to be moved, would require an additional fee of $2,500.00. The additional money was to be added to the previously contracted price. The total cost of the “adjusted” price of the move would exceed $9,500.00. The decision was made to leave several, large household items behind, to save costs. After the final loading was completed, an adjusted price of $8,263.75 was agreed upon. An additional 200 cubic feet was calculated to cost an additional $1,257.15. At that point, I believed I had no other recourse than to agree with the adjusted price, because the truck was completely loaded with our household property. At that time, I paid the driver $4,000.00 in cash (cash at the pick up was another of DJM’s requirements), noting that the remainder of the balance would be paid upon delivery to Texas.
On Thursday, August 16, 2018, a call was made to DJM to release the property from storage, and to schedule a delivery date to a residential address in Texas. At that time DJM employee Marie, stated the property would arrive “14 to 21 days” later.
On or near September 7, 2018, a call was made to DJM to inquire about an approximate delivery date of the property. DJM employee Jennifer stated the “14 to 21 days” was actually contracted as “business days.”
On the 21st “business day” of September 17, 2018, a call was placed to DJM for an approximate delivery date. DJM employee Jennifer said the contracted “14 to 21 business days” for delivery “could be extended to as much as 30 business days, if unforeseen factors arise.” Jennifer said the “fires in California had pushed deliveries back,” and DJM “would contact us with a delivery date when the delivery was within 24 hours.”
On the 30th “business day” of September 28, 2018, a call was placed to DJM for an approximate delivery date. Contact via telephone was made difficult. The call was abruptly terminated twice. Employee Marie was contacted via telephone after several attempts. She stated the same information as before. At that time, a supervisor’s contact information was requested. Marie stated “Andrew” was a supervisor (no last name given), and he “would be notified about the request. Andrew would make contact to discuss the delivery.” Supervisor Andrew never returned a call.
On Monday, October 1, 2018, a complaint email was sent to DJM Supervisor Andrew.
On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, a complaint email was sent to DJM Supervisor Justin.
At this writing, no contact from DJM Moving, LLC, has been received. The contracted “30 business days” have been exceeded by more than 3 weeks, and there has been no attempt to deliver the property, schedule a delivery date or make any type of notification re: the contracted property. DJM was paid $6,550.00 by cash and credit, but has not completed their delivery obligations. To compensate for the absence of our property, we have had to incur unbudgeted debt/spend cash resources. Household living room and dining room furniture had to be purchased that was either left out of the delivery due to the additional costs.
My recommendation is do NOT, under any circumstances, hire D&J Moving LLC, located in Sunrise, FL.

Long-distance move from El Cajon, CA to Martinsburg, WV

Overcharging, NEVER DELIVERING, Dishonest Business.

My wife Googled Moving Companies, and took calls for ones that would do two location pickups. I desperately wish she had researched them beforehand.
So they give us a "guesstimate quote", and like everyone else, it comes to $1,200 OVER the quote when they actually come. They did come, albeit 8 hours late, and with little to no warning.
Now, my family has been sleeping on the floor for TWO MONTHS. While, the business owner keeps saying that he has no control where the trucks go. He promises that our things will be on the next truck. Any updates, I have to call myself. Every week. NEVER USE D&J MOVING!!

RUN AWAAAAY!! Don’t hire those thieves, liars, scammers and extortione.

RUN AWAAAAY!! Don’t hire those thieves, liars, scammers and extortioners.

One of the worst experiences in my life, if not the worst. There is a good chance that you might live next door and you will get your stuff as planned, but if you are moving across states, they will promise you something then you will end up paying double that. If that is your only problem you are lucky, if anything goes wrong they will make you feel it is your mistake! They don’t take responsibility if anything goes wrong. They promised us to get our stuff on certain date and our stuff was almost a month late!! Yes, a month, not a day or a week. My wife and I almost gave up and we starting buying new stuff to move on with our life! The owner lied to my face saying that the movers tried to deliver and we didn’t pick up our phone, and now there is extra delivery fees. This was when I was calling them everyday to get a status on my delivery and their well trained in lying staff would say, your stuff is on the way, 2 more days, this went on for weeks.

The delivery came in Penske truck eventually!! Can you imagine, after all this.. A random guy came with my stuff demanding to pay all in cash and if I say no to whatever they are asking, they will take the truck and leave. They asked for 1000$ more than we agreed on… Yes, a lot of my things were missing/ damaged and I got other people boxes. No one called to even ask if I received some boxes by mistake or if I am missing anything.
Andrew and Jennifer, the most arrogant deceptive liars among their staff. You would tell them I need my stuff for my work, my son’s medications, etc. My delivery is weeks behind, they tell you give us another week, your stuff on the way.

Andrew was laughing at us while we are stressed, sleeping on the floor. I wish him nothing but to get fired for how he treats his customers. Jorde the guy who made the deal with us was another liar but was respectful and was understanding when we would get mad on the phone that our belongings are late.

Overall it is a horrible experience and I am taking legal action against them. Run away with your valuables, it values more to you than it is for them. They won’t take responsibility for anything; not even say we are sorry!

Long-distance move from Visalia, CA to Hoboken, NJ

Do not hire.

DO NOT HIRE. Learn from me. I hired this company for a move from CA to NJ; told 14 to 21 business days still no things after 3 months, refusing to give me estimate or location of things.
D+ J moving LLC was hired to transport my goods from Visalia, Ca to Hoboken, NJ with an original pick up date of 6/15/18 with an estimated moving time of 12 to 21 business days. They have continued to not initiate my move as of the time I am writing this complaint on 9/18/18. The whole process from beginning until now has been a disaster. They were hired for a full service move. The truck came 3 days after we were initially quoted for pick up. They were unable to pack our goods so my wife had to do so with other friends as the movers were unable to even complete that task. That is only where the trouble began. I have been in contact with them and have been given the run around on the phone for months. I was told on two separate occasions that my things were in transit on a moving truck and both times told weeks after that they in fact were still in storage in California. The company is now to the point that they are refusing to give me an estimated date of delivery; refusing to supply me with the location of the goods to hire another company and withholding a copy of my bill of lading so I cannot file an insurance claim. They have been holding family hostage for months; refusing to return my goods; nor are they willing to work with me to put the job in capable hands. At this point I want my items returned my money refunded and any and all charges brought to this company.

Long-distance move from Palm Springs, CA to Homestead, FL

3 months later and we don't have our items.

We contracted with D and J moving on July 16th to move from California to Florida with Richard. We paid all deposit timely and left California looking forward to seeing our stuff in 30 days. A NIGHTMARE occurred. We contacted them on August 16th with the new address and they said they will have everything to us in the next two weeks. Two weeks came and left. Over a month later after several phone calls and emails, we were told our items were still in California, our beds, living room, my daughter bed, our kitchen appliances, our clothes, our lives. The lied to us for a month and the lies continued. Another month passed and we still didn't have our items. More lies were being told to us and my daughter felt "homeless". Andrew avoided us and Richard lied to us. We received a promise from Richard and another lady that we would be compensated for the now 3 months of promises and lies. Then the said oh no we will not be compensating your again for the inconvenience. PLEASE PLEASE do not use them. I will be filing a lawsuit because this is wrong and I will do my best to ensure no one else have their lives be torched like this!
