Long-distance move from Tallahassee, FL to Mobile, AL

Felix Huertas.

Cross Country is an exceptional moving company! They were very receptive to the questions I had called with prior to hiring them, and they went to great lengths to ensure the moving process went smoothly. I never hired a moving company before; the most I had ever done was rent a U-Haul truck and move everything myself. No idea what I was thinking at the time, besides “My arms are burning! I should have stretched more!” What else can I say about these guys? They brought order to a time in my life that I thought was going to be a lot messier, and a lot more distressing.

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Horrible Experience.

I feel this company committed a bait and switch. My final bill was more than double my original quote and their carrier damaged and lost many items. I was told that if I gave a deposit, I would lock in my rate instead of waiting until summer, when rates will increase. And that even if I ended up needing more space, cubic feet, it would not be a big difference in price, again, since I've "locked in" my rate. I agreed and gave my deposit of $1170 in Feb. My original quote was about $3,800 and my final bill was over $8,000.

As I got closer to my move date, Benjamin disappeared and was "no longer with the company". I called several times to try to get another representative to help me and was told sales has nothing to do with scheduling and to just call customer service. Customer service was not interested in speaking with me until right before the move date. Eric W. took over and called me towards the end of May. On 5/31/19, we went through my items again. He estimated that my cf increased by about 300cf (my original estimate was less than 900cf), but my price increased by about $2000 or 2300. I asked how there was such a big increase in price. He said because I am moving during peak moving season. I said yes, but I gave a deposit and "locked in" my rate. He said no, it is summer so it is peak prices. My new estimate was over $6,000 and he charged me another $1,100 and advised that $1,925 was due at pick up and $1,925 was due at drop off.

Erick and Victor from Streamline Moving and Storage showed up on June 2nd, at about 1pm PST. Erick advised that I had a $325 balance due for my piano. I called the customer service line, at about 1:06pm PST, an after hour agent picked up, took my name and number and Annie called me back at about 1:11pm PST. She said she was the customer service manager, I explained the situation, and she told me what Erick was telling me was not right. She said to let the movers prep everything else, then send her a picture of the inventory list and she assured me that she would help me with pricing. I confirmed that the number she called me from was her cell phone number for me to text a picture, as my computer was all packed up, and she confirmed that I can reach her at the number that she called me from and yes, I can send a picture text to that number. I told Erick he could go ahead with everything else, except the piano, and that I would need to send Cross Country a picture of the final inventory list. At about 2:34pm PST, I texted Annie, letting her know that "the carrier is going to provide me with the list along with additional charges at the end." And asked her if she will be available still in a few hours. No reply. At about 4:08pm PST I called and left a voicemail message for Annie, asking her to call me back because I have not heard from her. No reply. She abandoned me after assuring me that she would help me with the carrier.

Erick and Victor did not finish until about 10:30pm PST. Erick handed me an inventory list with a final price of $8,139 and some cents. I had 2 minor children with me, ages 7 and 9, that were either sitting on the floor or sitting in my car, for hours on end, waiting to leave, and the manager from Cross Country was not calling me back. I signed his paperwork under duress. And paid him $2,935 cash, instead of the $1,925 that it was supposed to be.

Mike showed up on June 15th, and I paid him another $2935 cash, instead of $1,925. I was absolutely horrified as I saw my crushed boxes and damaged furniture being carried in. I took pictures of, and have sent to Cross Country, a link to about 170 pictures of my mishandled furniture and belongings, showing the severe damages and stains on my brand-new carpet from their dolly. They offered me $400 with a signed release and said I had to file a claim with the carrier. I hold Cross Country responsible as they chose the carrier and abandoned me in my time of need instead of being my point of contact throughout the process.

Do Not Use This Company.

Do yourself a favor. DO NOT USE cross country moving group. This company has no integrity and lack basic business ethics.

Like the previous reviewer, I had an absolute horrifying experience with Cross Country Moving Group that does not even merit a single star. I deeply regret my decision of choosing Cross Country Moving Group. This move has resulted in lost time, money and unwanted anxiety, frustration and anger.

I moved from Manhattan to San Francisco with a studio apartment. Jeffrey Hartunian was my coordinator for the move. When I first questioned him on Cross Country Moving Group being a broker, he replied that they have their own fleet and would only use other movers when necessary. He straight out lied to me, wrote empty checks and said that he would be in touch and personally responsible for my move. That was the last I ever heard from Jeffrey. It was another representative who called me to confirm the date for my pick-up. Then things were handed over to the actual moving company (Stop and Move) who also turned out to be a disaster.

I'll keep this review succinct. A few things to keep in mind:
1. No matter what they might tell you, Cross Country Moving Group is a broker, NOT a moving company. You will end up paying an extra broker fee on top of your moving expenses. My broker fee ended up being $600.
2. They will under quote you. For a studio apartment with no furniture, they quoted me 200 sqft. My 25 boxes turned out to be 600 sqft. My estimate from Cross Country Moving Group was about $1,700. So far, the true estimate is about $3,000, double the original quote.
3. Delivery date: I specifically requested a delivery date of July 1st which I thought to be guaranteed. It's been 10 days past the delivery date and I was told that my stuff will get here on July 14th. Turns out somewhere buried in the contract, there was a clause saying that the actual delivery date will take place on and up to 21 days from the expected delivery date. The moving company (Stop and Move) seems also confused that this was not explained clearly to me by Cross Country Moving Group.
4. Additional fees: Cross Country Moving Group did not bother spending time to explain to me what other fees might be included for the move. Because I now live in San Francisco and big trucks are not allowed in the city, I'm liable for an additional $350 shuttle service (i.e. to first transfer my stuff from the truck to a shuttle then deliver)

At the time of writing, I have not received my stuff. I don't expect them to be in good shape after reading the reviews.

Please spare yourself the trouble if you are moving interstate or cross country. And if I may, all of my friends who went with OZ move had a great experience.

Con-job.

They are a broker. They get good reviews by bribing their customers. They hire movers with bad reviews. They low ball the estimate, get your stuff, then jack the price by 50%. They only honored the original price once a federal agent made them. Also, lots of damage and delivery of someone else's wardrobe box. Also 3 weeks late in delivery. Terrible experience. Run away!!

Long-distance move from Buffalo, NY to Cleveland, OH

Moving made easy!

I have been moving for years- since graduating college really. It’s been tough trying to handle the stress of everyday life, job transition, and taking care of the dog while simultaneously trying to plan a move. And with a surprise new job offer, that simple annual cross-town move turned into a tri-state endeavour! I was not going to move all by myself, and I didn’t want to task my family with having to help me every weekend, hauling stuff between my living spaces. Cross Country Moving Group was one of the first companies I contacted, because they represent a huge network of moving companies and are dead-set on getting you the best rate for whatever kind of move you’re planning. It’s worth every penny to have this kind of help. It cut back on the time I would’ve spent researching innumerable moving companies, and it got me to where I needed to be with almost no stress compared to all my other moves (which were much shorter!).

New review since my old on was hidden or deleted!

PLEASE READ: do not use this company.

So I had posted a review but apparently this company can just hide them? So here is round 2.

This is a broker company. They don’t have relationships with the movers they hire and they hire anyone they can. Thy don’t check the movers they get, I know this because they sent me a mover that’s changed their name MANY times and that attempted to basically blackmail me into paying over double the (substantial) quoted price. The movers they got me also had a LOT of bad reviews online. So this wasn’t all that tough to vet.

They didn’t respond to me with any help when I called them again and again and again and didn’t seem to care that they sent me a terribly reviewed mover. A mover that basically was a con company.

They only finally called me after I posted my last review and attempted to buy me off and offer me an NDA so I’d take down my old comment. They never did call back with a full amount offer by the way.

They will promise you a pick up time the they can’t guarantee and don’t care to keep since they are simply a broker company. They don’t know who they hire and YOU are basically paying them extra to hire an untrustworthy company when you could just do that part cheaper yourself. They don’t help, they don’t care and there is no reason at all to pay this broker to call a mover for you. They will make ‘deals’ with you that the movers that come will NOT uphold to and there’s nothing this broker can do about it.. this broker is a bad middleman with no care once they get your down payment.

This is a waste of your money, and now I know why they don’t have that many bad reviews. They either buy you off or they just hide the negative reviews.

Great service, strongly recommended.

I was very scared because my last move with a different company was very stressful. Luckily, a friend of my recommended to use Cross Country Moving Group. I was surprised to get an instant response from the company and they immediately started to address my every need. I had some fragile stuff that I was worried about, but the team handled it with care, and it wasn’t broken or damage when we arrived. My stuff was well-organized, and the team helped me to unpack with no problems at all. My experience was awesome, and I definitely recommend this company to everybody who needs to move.

Long-distance move from Washington, DC to Denver, CO

Delayed Delivery - 6 weeks and still no delivery.

Beware and Avoid Cross Country Moving Group, ccmover.com (CCMG). They are a broker and not a shipper. There is an upcharge hidden in your payments that relates to selling you transport services with a real shipper. And you do not know the reliability of the shipper. In my case it was Federal Moving Corp. CCMG provides no real value except selling and they will mislead you. Go directly to a different shipping company. CCMG is great at marketing and will not perform, help you, or give you any useful information about a delayed deliveries. I had terrible service and still don’t have my belongings.

My experience: I was promised a pick up on June 27, 2019 in Washington, DC, by the sales person Evan Parna. He told me that my goods would shipped promptly and stored at the destination, Denver, for delivery. He now ignores my calls. The pick up timing was delayed by a day, but did come because I pushed. I had little choice because I was moving and had already selected this mover. In hindsight, I should have delayed and gone with my second choice of a mover. CCMG will give you insufficient notice to get permissions for parking. And can then charge more if parking is not right at your doorstep.

Now the real problem - no delivery and no information. I was promised delivery 2 1/2 weeks later in the window between July 14 to 16. It is now over six weeks since my pick up and a month past my promised delivery and I don’t have any of my household items. I am told that they are in route, but as best I know they are in storage in New Jersey. They do not return calls and when you do reach someone they give a standard response of 3-5 more days or later this week, or simply put me on hold as if they are going to investigate and then they disconnect. Who knows when, if ever, I will get my goods or whether they will be damaged and in good condition.

CCMG does not care about you, your schedule or your household items. Also, my experience is different than the reviews on the movingreviews.com website. After, I shipped my goods, I then found reviews on Yelp, which relate stories like mine.

Emerging leaders in interstate moving made easy.

In the last decade, I’ve moved from state to state for work. This was, by far, the easiest move of them all. Cross Country Moving Group helped with every aspect of the move, from start to finish…packing to unpacking. I’ve never experienced this level of professionalism, skill and know-how from a long-distance moving company. I was able to focus on other important things because they relieved me of so much of the stress that a move like this can cause. There’s no telling where work will take me next but I know that I will use this company to get me there!

Move from Iowa to Michigan.

This move has by far been the easiest out of the many in my lifetime. My family has used dozens of movers over the years and we always had issues with them. Cross Country was the first company to provide us with the fastest and most convenient service. Our belongings were treated well and arrived to our new home undamaged and exactly when we expected the arrival. This company took the burden off of our shoulders and handled the entire process with ease. I could not be happier with their care and attention to detail.

Worst Experience Imaginable.

The WORST decision we have ever made. Day 37 with no delivery. We have filed complaints everywhere - DOT, BBB, FMSCA, local authorities - and still have not and likely will not receive any of our belongings. Employees are beyond rude and unhelpful. They readily admit that they have no information, no location for the truck, no driver contact info. One employee will tell you one thing only to be directly contradicted by another. How they are even still in business is beyond me, but I'm sure it won't be much longer with the way they run things. I can only assume they make their money from the stolen goods. I could not recommend staying far away from them any more strongly.

Worst Mover Company.

They are always used to warn, don't go with other movers there are scammers, but these guys also does the same. They give you quote where as at the last moment we cannot work with that quote, so quotes will change badly. Pick up times keep changes, at the time of pickup, drivers will not take all of your items, if they, will charge more and more. Finally they won't deliver on time, keep postponing the dates, worst customer service. I would request not to go with these company.

The guys from Cross Country Moving Group are awesome! My movers were responsive and easy to work with. Great Company!

Very grateful for all of the help from Cross Country Moving. This last move has been one of the most stressful ones for my family and I, mostly because of the new baby. All of the staff and movers were extremely helpful and kind and helped us get out of our old place and into our new home on time. The movers were also very hard working and didn’t seem accustomed to slacking (more than I can say for other movers we’ve used). Everything was treated carefully and there was no damage to any of our belongings. I would absolutely recommend using Cross Country Moving Group, they helped us keep our heads.

Cross Country Moving is the Best.

I recently sold my house and had to move out of state quickly. It was one of the most stressful time periods of my life. However, Cross Country Moving was there to help us out. Their professionalism and kindness was exactly what I needed, and it they were simply awesome when it came to getting the job done. Although I probably wasn’t the easiest customer to deal with because the stress had me in a chronic bad move, they were always kind to me. Their hard work, kindness, and obvious dedication to getting the job done really helped me get through a difficult time period in my life. Plus, the movers here treated all of my stuff as if it was their own. Nothing was damaged, and everything made it to my new destination intact. I strongly recommend using Cross Country Moving Group.

Unreliable and dishonest.

This company did absolutely nothing to ensure that my move went smoothly and stress-free. Our truck was booked for moving out on a Thursday with overnight storage and then moving into our new home on Friday morning, as we were buying and selling at the same time. We had a very strict timeline to work on since we had scheduled walk-throughs and the actual closing to do.

Our initial pickup window was 4pm-8pm on Thursday. At 5:30pm, we were contacted to tell us that there was a problem with our truck and that our pickup would be rescheduled for the following day. We explained that we needed to ensure that the truck would arrive FIRST thing in the morning, since the walk-through was scheduled for 11 AM on Friday and we needed to have all items out of the house prior to that. We were promised the truck would arrive promptly at 8 AM as we were the first move of the day.

At 8:30AM, we began calling to find an ETA of the truck. We called every half hour and were told each time "the truck is 30 minutes away, they might just be in traffic." By 11:00AM, I was livid. The customer service manager promised to reimburse us with $250 off the cost for the "inconvenience". Our buyer showed up, unable to do the walk through as our entire house was still full. When I asked the manager how they were going to remedy this terrible service, she told me that they were being "more than reasonable" by offering $250 off for showing up late. All of this after paying a $900 deposit.

The truck showed up at 1:45pm. When they arrived, the driver told us that they had left from NEW JERSEY that morning. We live in Massachusetts. Yet, we were told every time we called that the truck was "just 30 minutes away". This company blatantly lied throughout the entire ordeal and downplayed their incompetence. They are unprofessional, disorganized, and dishonest. If I showed up to my job 6 hours late, I would be fired. And I certainly would not make $900 off of the ordeal.

They made moving easy!

Cross Country Moving Group made everything easy. The call to schedule movers, Easy! Getting to my house on time and handling my stuff carefully, Easy! Getting everything to me after driving across 7 states… Not so easy, because I was actually the one late. But they waited patiently for me to show up, so… Easy!

These guys seriously made my life and move a lot less stressful. They were patient and careful with my belongings. They were patient with me when I didn’t show up on time. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I would definitely use them again.

Long-distance move from Murrieta, CA to Sandy, UT

We were left stranded and had to move ourselves.

After hiring cross country moving group, we expected someone between 8-10am from a professional moving company. On the day of our move at 1:30pm some random guy in a rented Ryder box truck showed up, told us our load would be more money and the cubic feet would now be double. he demanded I sign a new contract right then or I would be “stranded without a mover”, and repeated over and over that I absolutely had to sign that new contract right now. His men then invaded my garage and just stared at me and my 2 little girls as I tried to call Cross Country and figure out what to do. When Cross Country asked to speak to the driver and the driver refused to talk to them, I asked the driver to leave because I was not agreeing to those terms. He refused to leave for 15 minutes, and instead stood on my driveway with his men, his truck parked in the middle of the road impeding our neighbors. Finally my father in law had to threaten to call the police before the driver would leave.

I called Cross Country back and they promised to have someone else out that day, but no one came. The next day I was promised someone would be there between 7-12, but when I called that company directly to confirm they told me they did not even have a truck available. I finally offered to rent a truck if someone would just come move our stuff, because we absolutely had to be out of our rental house by that day. Hours later Cross Country called back to say never mind they weren’t coming and they didn’t have anyone scheduled for today. At that point we had to go pick up the truck that we had rented for Evergreen (the moving company we thought was coming), and hire local guys because we absolutely had to be out of our house that day.

When I called Cross Country about requesting our $2300 deposit back I was told we would absolutely not receive a refund and that “I would have to take them to arbitration and I would absolutely lose”. I have been blown away by how unprofessional they have been- they left us absolutely stranded after hiring some scum bag with a rental box truck that tried to take advantage of us and intimidate us into signing a new contract, and now they refuse to give back our deposit.

Long-distance move from Martinez, CA to Salem, OR

Terrible customer service.

I will try to give facts without too much emotion here.
- I was told movers would be by to pick up my things 24 hours before the date they would come by.
- they called and left a window of 8am-12pm
- the movers arrived at 1pm (an hour later than the latest delivery window time)
- I gave a first-available delivery date of 6-22
- on 6/25 I called to get an update on my delivery date
- I was told they did not have any information. They would be Monday of next week.
- I was also told “they have 21 business days to get your things to you. That’s in the contract”

So I am to receive my belongings at an undisclosed time between now and two weeks from now.

If you’re all right with this kind of business transaction when you are moving (which is pretty stressful in general, I think) then go for it. As for me? Not only will I never use this company again but I will never hire movers again. This has soured my experience enough that I would rather hire a uhaul and do it myself.

Irresponsible Moving group.

I used services of Cross country moving group to move from Sunnyvale to Austin . It is an agent company and they engage different company for Pick up an delivery

Here is my experience
Pick up company ( Streamline moving and storage)
1. They don't inform exact time. A 20 min wait goes to 2 days.
2. Complain about space in truck for my stuff, well I gave the correct inventory list it is not my responsibility if truck doesn't have space.
3. Half the Boxes are damaged.
4. The irresponsibility shows in how they handled the Baby Furniture Baby swing, Baby chair, Reclining chair.
The took it to wrap it , but never did it . It was so dirty when I received it. I had to find it in the truck by myself , it was dumped like in a dump yard. Swing was dismantled and it is so damaged and dirty that I cannot fix it back.

Delivery company :
1. Simple thing what he said I am just delivering I don't know how they packed to damage the things . Rude answer.
2. Baby swing they did not care to assemble it back.
3. Few things missing still did not hear back from them.
4. Same 20 mins wait went to 4 hrs.
5.Had ask about my TV then only they brought it from the truck.
6. Even they did not handle the Baby stuff as I said I had find it myself in a dump yard.

I blame Cross country for engaging these kind of irresponsible people to work.
Never going to recommend to any one.

Kiran.

Long-distance move from Crystal Lake, IL to Garland, TX

Completely Dishonest, even trick you having a name like a reputable co.

The move was arranged through Cross Country Movers. They chose the people that came to pack and gave me an expensive estimate based off detailed information I gave them. I had no choice in who I could use or I would have chosen who they did. They had one star. I didn’t know who was coming until they arrived.

Let me say, ONE STAR IS BEING GENEROUS. I’d use ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE.

I’m pretty upset. He’s saying it’s going to be a lot more than was quoted even though I removed more than half of the furniture I originally told them I was moving. Im leaving my kids furniture, my table and chairs, office furniture, living room furniture, and more. I’m a single mom on disability with heart and kidney failure. For only 500 sq ft more space they want $3000 more than what I was estimated. I’m on a fixed income. Of course, not getting a firm quote until moving day puts me at a huge disadvantage and I feel taken advantage of. They know due to the divorce decree I have to be out of the house in three days, so I have no time to find someone else. I feel like they are price gouging.

I was told to move my car would be x amount of dollars and they added charges to that as well.

I had another mover quote me about half of what they’re now charging me. Even if things needed to be added it would still be cheaper. And another thing is that I wasn’t told my things would remain in storage in Chicago and I’d have no access to my things until after I had put down a nonrefundable deposit.

The movers they chose were very rude and short with me. One was nice, Louis. That’s it. If I had time I’d go with someone else on the basis of horrible customer service. Only one guy was nice and patient with me. But I’d definitely go with someone else over price. It’s outrageous.

I feel extremely taken advantage of and feel both the movers and the packers were dishonest and misrepresented what was being done and the cost.

I’m really just so upset I can hardly write or think through it all. I’m just appalled. Of course, now that I’m on the hook for thousands of dollars, Eric won’t return my texts or emails and quality assurance was supposed to go over my items before verifying with the contractors and never called when I said I’d be available. Disgusted.

I feel this company has misrepresented themselves as a decent business and it’s almost like being catfished. If you look up cross country moving company, other sites with good ratings appear. Click on the website in their email and you realize it’s not the same company at all. Be wary and careful!

Avoid this company.

After reading these reviews and my moving experience, I question how many of them were written by employees of Cross Country Moving. Cross Country does not move you so I don't understand all of these reviews talking about the excellent care. It is obvious the work is sub contracted out when this strange moving company calls you before the move.

I may have just gotten a bad subcontractor, but the moving company hired by Cross Country to move my daughter was the worst. The subcontractor was Mover's Van Lines.

I thought Cross-Country was squared away. I spoke with two individuals before my move about my stuff, I thought everything was taken care of. Now knowing Cross Country doesn't move directly, I wonder was the purpose of the calls was. The subcontractor who showed up had no idea of any of the changes I shared with my "Quality Assurance Manager."

Then this subcontractor, Mover's Van Lines, calls and tells me the movers will be at my house in the afternoon and I need to pay cash and that the amount was higher than the quote from Cross Country. Having read the contract, I called Cross Country and they had raised the price so a sub-contractor would take the job. I got in writing that I would be refunded the difference, I will let you know if that is honored.

What business deals in cash only? Oh, I know, drug traffickers and those selling stolen goods or people who has such poor credit a bank will refuse them an account. I told the subcontractor that some notice would be useful and she said they had been trying to call me for two days. Doesn't anyone realize a cell phone logs all call attempts and voicemails? So now we are into dishonesty as well as poor customer service.

The subcontractor was supposed to give me a rate up front and he tried to raise the price at the end, clearly illegal if the Cross Country notice is to be believed.

I don't even want to go into the issues with the delivery. Take too much time.

If I were you, I'd look elsewhere.

Long-distance move from Utah to California

Avoid at All Cost.

You are reading this because you are upset that they quoted you double the price of the original quote. There's only ONE good action and that is to walk away. Take your losses and run, because from here it's only getting worse. The ccmover.com gave you a low estimate and lied to you that they move themselves.

They are brokers. They hire unaccredited movers and the result is after paying 3x too much all your stuff is damaged.

Run. Run. Run. You paid $1000 upfront? Leave it. Never look back. The moment the carrier comes, the [EDIT] hits the fan. The carriers know the game. They will blackmail you with your own belongings and force you to sign a bill that is insane. On top of that, the carriers are unaccredited and don't know how to move you. Result: damaged stuff. You think you can talk to ccmover.com? They are no longer interested in you, because they got the money out of you already.

Look at their Google reviews. Al the good reviews are from people with 2-3 reviews in the same timespan. Fake! All the real reviews are the same like mine. RUN!!

Cross Country Moving Group.

Moving isn’t always a pleasant experience for me because it is such a hassle. I decided to look into a moving company and that is when I came across the Cross Country Moving Group. I was surprised at how quickly they were able to book the job. Being that it was my first time using a moving company I didn’t know what to expect. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the result. The move went very smoothly, everyone was professional, my belongings were intact and they completed the move 3x faster than I would have on my own. I had a positive experience and would definitely recommend using this company.

Long-distance move from Louisiana to Arizona

My Moving Experience.

Their website is easy to navigate and understand. I had absolutely no problem navigating around it and exploring different pricing options, which in our ever advancing technological world is a huge plus. When I called the 1 800 number, the person I spoke with was knowledgeable, kind, and answered all of my questions. They were very patient with me and made me feel like I could most certainly trust them with my most precious belongings. I feel the value for the pricing is pretty much spot on and I would recommend using them to anyone who is thinking of moving across the country. Moving is stressful enough, but it definitely helps knowing that at the very least, this is a company that I know I can trust time and time again to get the job done efficiently and correctly. Thank you!
