My Last Big Move.

Like most people, I was reluctant to work with a moving company. I usually organize everything myself. I contacted a few different companies to get quotes for pricing. Cross Country Moving quoted me at the best price I could find for my moving distance. They were extremely helpful and thorough in taking the time to walk me through the process and answering all of my questions. Once it was actually time for the move the movers showed up and delivered all my items with no problems. I was incredibly satisfied with the service from beginning to end and have already recommended them to my friends and family.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, NM to Phoenix, AZ

Good Experience.

I decided to use Cross County Moving Group after reading some reviews on them. I was moving from my 2-bedroom house across states and they made my moving process as stress and hassle-free as it could be. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and they were able to respond to all of my questions quickly. The moving trucks showed up on time and there was no problem with the delivery, nothing was lost or damaged. The service was excellent and I could not find a better price. They were a great company to work with and I will be calling them the next time I have to make a major move.

Long-distance move from Rochester, NY to Sacramento, CA

My move.

My experience with Cross Country movers has been mixed. Tommy, the booking agent, was friendly and did a pretty good job explaining things. That said, his estimates for the size of pieces of furniture tended to be on the small side. I measured every single piece of my furniture and every box, this helped ensure that the estimate was close to the final moving cost. Tommy said he would be there every step of the way, but in reality he more or less dissappeared once I had booked. Cross Country movers subcontracts to other moving companies. So ultimately it was Stop and Move, LLC that loaded and delivered my goods. The gentleman who loaded my move in Rochester was wonderful. He was clear about when he would load and was very thorough and kind when loading (as were the 2 men who helped him). After the load is when things went down hill. The company had said that they would tell me when they loaded in Rochester when they would arrive in Rochester. They did not and said they could not. When I arrived in Sacramento I waited a couple of days to hear from them with an update, but I did not hear, so I reached out. My queries were fairly promptly responded to. One person who called me back said my stuff would likely arrive by the end of the week (we had arrived on a Saturday so by the following Friday). But the woman who emailed me back said it would all arrive by sometime the following week and that if I didn't hear from someone by Monday, to email her. On Monday I emailed at lunchtime. But I also got a call that day from the driver. He said he was in Vegas, and the truck needed some repairs, but that he hoped to leave the next morning and that maybe my stuff would be delivered Tuesday night, but more likely Wednesday. Then on Tuesday afternoon he contacted me and said he thought he would arrive Wednesday between midday and 4pm. Then on Wednesday he called me around 10am with more truck troubles and said arriving Wednesday was unlikely and that Thursday was more likely. Then he contacted me later Tuesday and said he might be able to deliver Wednesday night. Then he told me later that afternoom that hr could not and that hopefully he could deliver Thursday between noon and 4. So maybe he will make it tomorrow. It isn't the amount of time that is the problem, but rather the multiple changes. I just started a new job and it isn't easy to just keep having to change when I need off. In addition it is hard on kids to keep having the dates changed. The other issue is with payment. Read the contract carefully as delivery must be cash or postal money order. My bad for simply relying on what Tommy and Eric told me..they simply said money order, without the postal part. Turns out it must be postal, they will not accept a money order from your bank. So overall a mixed bag. I have moved across country before and no experience has been perfect, but this one has been more problematic than others.

Smoothest move so gar.

I am very particular with how I handle my valuables. I've also worked in a warehouse on and off for years so stacking pallets and fitting pieces is something I've acquired a talent for. These guys know what they're doing. They keep in constant communication with their timeline, their vision for the whole process and give reasonable estimates. The prices are seriously competitive and they never get impatient with all my questions and concerns. They take the time to walk me through everything and that's something that I personally look for with every business.

Long-distance move from Savannah, GA to Gainesville, FL

Trustworthy and Professional.

We have used a lot of movers over the years, because we relocate for work, a lot. This was the best experience we have ever had, though. They took care of every detail! Everything was so secure and handled with tender loving care. Nothing was lost or broken along the way and they took the extra time to properly label everything and keep it all neat. The guy's who came to the house from Cross Country Moving were very friendly and professional the entire time. I felt like they actually cared about us and making sure our valuables and personal property were well taken care of during the move. The next time we have to relocate to keep our careers moving forward, we are calling Cross Country Moving Group to take care of us, again.

Long-distance move from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Dallas, TX

Very satisfied with our move.

Moving can never really be fun, but the guys at Cross Country Moving Group helped make it a lot easier. My husband and I were worried about some of his fragile family heirlooms breaking during the move, but they were transported so safely that it was like they hadn’t moved at all. We were so relieved. The movers were polite and professional throughout the whole process. They were very funny guys who kept on cracking jokes to make us smile. Of course, the way they handled the move in general made us smile as well! I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Moving can be a nightmare for us all, and I’m sure that it has been for many of you. Cross Country Moving Group has made the entire process so much easier for me! The crew saved me a huge headache, and I knew I made the right decision with how they handled my belongings. The price was absolutely worth the service, and I intend on using this company in the future for any further moves.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Wyoming

Bait and switch.

I was quoted a price to ship my vehicle from Michigan to WY which I accepted and put a down payment on. Vehicle was scheduled to be picked up, but never happened. Contacting the company, they indicated that I would have to pay an increased fee in HOPES that one of their contractors MIGHT fulfill their agreement.

Staff was very unwilling to work with me and the customer rep that made the contract with me has refused to even call me back.

This company is not to be trusted to make good on any contract that they make with a customer.

Long-distance move from Pompano Beach, FL to Dover, DE

Moving 'assistance' from CCMG.

I've moved more then 3 dozen times in my lifetime, as a kid and adult, married and single. My experiences in Florida were the most uneven and 'problematic.' The smallest lot of items moved was my most recent; a Duncan Phyfe dining room group of 10 pieces. It presented me with the worst of the lot in terms of honesty and follow through. At the front end this move was organized by a 'senior moving coordinator' with Cross Country Moving Group who talked a great game and promised that he would, "have my back through the entire transaction, supervising the move from start to finish!" At the back end the move was managed by another co.; Always Affordable Moving and Storage of New Jersey. When Always Affordable added a completely unnecessary and unjustified $400 shuttle fee, because their driver had determined the truck containing my 10 pieces of furniture was too big from my street (18 wheel transports do load/unload for businesses on my block), Cross Country's senior moving coordinator said he'd trouble shoot such an obviously wrong decision; "I'll get back to you, I've got you covered." Then - he sent his final contact .."all future business regarding this matter must be addressed to the following number..". A cheerful and chatty fellow, with an arsenal of platitudes, his 'front' only made the back end of a minor transaction (in the complex world of moving people's belongings) that much more expensive, annoying, and aggravating. Would recommend using the services of a company that is truly in charge of matters 'front to back'; they book, pick up, and deliver their contracted assignments.

Moving from NC to SC.

This company is a JOKE.. I was given a day to move of Friday 5/3 with my alternate date of Saturday 5/4 and was called on Saturday and told they could not move me until sometime on Sunday 5/5. This was unacceptable as my ex- husband wanted me out on Friday.
I called the office multiple times and was given to the answering service and I asked that a supervisor or owner call me ASAP.Never heard from anyone and here I sit waiting to find out when the movers are coming and they have my deposit of 700.00.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. THEY TALK ABOUT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING BUT INCOMPETENCE.

Moving Journey.

Throughout the process of moving, I realized I would need to hire a company to help me. I called the most common moving company's who all seemed very dull and just there to get the job done. However, when I contacted Cross Country Moving Group, they were alive and full of life. From the start of my move to the very end, this company was very detail orientated. The structure that this company follows fundamentally is one of the best reasons to hire them for your next move. The movers that assist are careful with the property that you are having them move. I could not have been more astonished with this company's services.

Excellent Company would use again.

Cross Country Moving Group's professionalism and attention to detail were excellent. I found it very intimidating the thought of attempting to find a moving company to hire and arrange my own move. I felt so much more comfortable after hiring them. They provided honest upfront prices and superb customer service. I highly recommend if you are wanting to move, hire this company to negotiate for you, and relieve the stress of the entire situation. Cross Country Moving Group is a top of the line interstate broker company, with the knowledge to make sure your needs are met at a great price.

Overall move.

Cross country moving group's ability to pay attention to detail and the speed of the move itself were fantastic. They provided honest, fair, and upfront prices. The prices the moving group provided can not match any of the ones around it. The company was the perfect fit for me and they had everything covered from being able to fit all my furniture and boxes into the truck. They also provided additional support anytime I needed it. I highly recommend this company because of the overall experience, the fair price, and the amount of experience and poise they showed throughout the whole process.

Easiest move I’ve ever done.

If you are looking for a professional and reliable moving company, look no further. Cross Country Moving took care of everything for me and alleviated all my moving anxiety. Their team is friendly, professional and efficient. I will never use another moving company after finding them. My whole house arrived in pristine condition. The boxes were all unloaded to the rooms which they belong and everything was accounted for. The price was fair for the size of my home, in the ballpark of $2,000, but it was well worth it. I couldn't have asked for a smoother process.

Everything we were looking for!

My wife and I relocated to be right down the street from our aging parents and we needed some help making the move. As a musician, I have a lot of very heavy equipment but Cross Country Moving Group did a fantastic job helping. Everyone they sent to help us were on time and physically capable people. Together we moved all my expensive equipment without any hiccups. There were no hidden fees, all of our belongings were accounted for, and they were extremely nice people that I genuinely enjoyed chatting with. I could not have asked for a better experience and I highly recommend them to anyone relocating!

Highly recommend! The office was super helpful getting everything set up and followed up with me several times to finalize plans. On moving day, two awesome guys showed up when they said they would. Run the other way, they pay people to remove the bad reviews.

I bought into the reviews on this company for a small move for my daughter. Bottom line - it was a horrible experience and we encountered all the same problems that I read about for other small move companies. I also now know why the reviews on this site for this company seem so positive while other small move companies are so negative – after I first posted this review, Cross Country Movers called me and offered me $400 to take down the review! Don’t be fooled. We didn’t take the money so that you could know the truth.

They picked up OK, but then stored the items and didn't even initiate transportation until after they date that we had hoped for delivery. Transportation was from Oregon to North Carolina so it takes it least a week. Advertised delivery window was 11 - 16 days. Actual was 42 days (6 weeks)! Huge problem for my daughter starting her first job. They handed the items over to at least two different shippers, the original contract terms and expectations were ignored by the new shippers, never did deliver one item, delivered two items that weren't ours, threatened to store the items if we couldn't receive them on a certain day and charge extra, added unnecessary drama and arguments about delivery problems if the truck couldn't get close enough even though there was no problem at all, and treated us like c$%p in general.

After posting the initial review, within a week we finally received the one missing item. Only reason we finally received it was because we posted a review and called them out. Until the review was posted they didn't care.

Long-distance move from Memphis, TN to Jacksonville, FL

Concerned about pending move.

I contracted with Cross Country Moving for an interstate move scheduled for next week. When working with the salesperson, we discussed that all of the furniture would be protected and packed, including glass furniture items. We had also discussed how the bed, frame, and box spring would also be packed. During today’s prep call with his manager, I learned that the packing of glass furniture was not included. I also learned that they do not pack the mattress and box spring themselves, and I was responsible for putting the bed in bags myself. The move was not as “door-to-door” as the salesperson had led me to believe. They could take care of these things for me with additional fees. My salesperson has also told me that he overestimates the cubic footage needed for a move in order to be conservative in case extra items are added once packing begins. When I went over my items again with his manager, my estimate jumped substantially.

Later this evening (same day), I called back and asked about cancelling the order. My original estimate raised about 35% from the quote the salesperson gave me, and I decided it was best to explore parting ways if Cross Country would return part or all of my $700 deposit. The manager said that my order had already been dispatched and it was impossible to return any of the funds. I thought a cancellation was the best option for both of us, but now I feel trapped and will most likely have to stick with the move.

The current rating is based upon my current expectations and customer service. It does not reflect the quality of the movers or the condition of any of my property upon delivery. I will re-evaluate this review upon completion of the move during early June.

Great Work!

I have made many long distance moves during my lifetime due to my career and I put a lot of research into finding the right moving company this time. I was highly satisfied with the final cost and service I received from Cross Country Moving Group from start to finish. They delivered everything safely and in a timely manner. I was especially concerned about an antique desk of my fathers but it was wrapped securely and arrived without a scratch.

I already told them that I plan on using them again for my daughter's moves as well later this year. Great work!

Wonderful Experience.

My family and I are always reluctant to work alongside a moving company - we typically do our business as a family. This one move, however, was slightly too elaborate and complex for just the 3 of us to do ourselves so I reached out to Cross Country Moving Group for some help and boy were we not disappointed. Not only quick and friendly, but they worked with us on pricing and really made the entire process genuinely easy. Very impressive. There pricing is manageable and customer service exceptional. They come recommended by my family and me, but I have also recommended them to all my friends and coworkers. Good luck with the move!

Beware.

This company is a scam, my friend hired them to move her belongings to another state. She gave an accurate account of all her items. They were supposed to arrive 11am-3, pm but did not grace us with their presence until 10pm, after a barade of calls and excuses. To begin with, locking in the day of the move was not easy either, booked months ago but finding out which day 24 hours before. Moving is stressful but what happened to my friend was wrong on so many levels. After everything was loaded, at about midnight, she was told the estimate was not correct and it would be an extra $1000.00 AND would not arrive until 14-21 days. Beware this company should not be in business, oh and the "broker" who helped her, Tommy, has yet to return any calls yet stated would be there until the end. I will tell everyone who will listen to stay away!

Worst Mistake. Con. Scam. Please don't!

I would not even give this company any stars! Thought this company was great, at first. They work with you, provide a lot of info. BUT you'll never see that in writing. Why? Because they turn around & sub your moving out to another company. Do they see to it that their new customer is being treated fairly/respectfully? NO. Do they vet the companies they subcontract? NO. They get their cut and buh-bye! IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY UNDER CONTRACT WITH THIS BROKER, SAVE ALL CORRESPONDENCE/EMAILS/PHONE CALLS/TEXT MESSAGES. It ended up with a "he said she said". Out of the myriad of troubles we had w/Cross Country & their partnering moving company, the men who disassembled & packed our furniture were not the same men that delivered our things. We tried to get them to put our furniture back together. They gave little effort & did so bad a job that we had to take our bed apart entirely & start over. They're not professionals, don't know how to move belongings, maneuver stairs/doorways. We were also informed day of delivery that they do not move boxes and proceeded to unload everything into our front living room. AND they charged us more than the contract stated. AND they argued with us about a delivery date, pushed it back three times. Our notice came via a call at 5pm the day before that they would be arriving at noon the next day. (BTW, they gave us a 3 day window so we couldn't make arrangements for a moving day. What a headache/loss. I'm just glad that we only had to part with about 6k instead of families who have been extorted for tens of thousands of dollars through this kind of shady business dealing. I read some reviews before I wrote this. Sounds like they have a formula. Salesperson is super friendly/helpful. You sign a binding estimate w/Cross Country. Give them a $1,400 deposit. Fine and dandy. We were moving from Louisiana to Ohio. But no house yet. Waited as long as we could & scheduled the movers before the new owners moved in. They said they'd store our stuff for free for the 1st month. 2nd month we'd get a discount on storage & 3rd month would be full price. They said we'd have access to our belongings (yea, sure, when the storage is in North Carolina & we're in Ohio). Simplified Solutions showed up and tell us that we have way more stuff than they thought, balked at our platform bed & dressers w/mirrors. We explained that this had all been laid out w/Cross Country when the estimate was drawn up. We weren't hiding furniture, trying to sneak bulky/custom items into the truck. We were at their mercy & they charged us extra-$1,000. It will come off at the end, better to overshoot it. Immediately after loading, they were supposed to go to a weigh station and send us the weight ticket, never received it or a bill of laden. Didn't see any further paperwork until 3 new workers from Simplified showed up on our doorstep. Including forged documents! I'm still beside myself that they charged us another $2,500 to unload our belongings and it was more of a "get this crap out of the truck" process. Not professionals. More like guys who needed to earn a quick buck because they make you pay in cash or money order upon delivery. AND they will not unload until you pay them in full. We called the police. The deceit, unethical behavior, fraud, straight-up swindling, we had to do something! The police tried to mediate & talked to the boss at Simplified who hung up on the officer. Finally, we caved because we wanted our things. If we didn't, they would have left, put our stuff in storage with us to foot the bill, pay for re-delivery. I had set up all utilities, we were already paying on the house but could not live in it. So sad that we couldn't do anything about what was being done to us. Frustrated takes on a whole new meaning for me now. There's a reason DOT outlines your rights/liabilities with the American Motor Carrier Association, giving tips on how to smell out a scam. Cross Country got us. Good job. Here's your one star.

I had a great experience hiring this company for my moving needs. Moving can be so stressful, and hiring Cross Country made my move a thousand times easier. Absolutely Fantastic.

Oh my gosh, I hate moving! I've had so many unpleasant experiences! But not with Cross Country Moving Group. What a godsend they were. I needed to uproot myself, my 2 daughters and 5 dogs, and wow is that a feat all by yourself! Usually I would do it alone or have my ex or brother help me but this was just too much this time. Luckily I found Cross Country and was able to assemble a move across Georgia with no problems. They were patient and considerate to a recently single mom and I couldn't recommend them more. If you have lots of family heirlooms and love collecting the most delicate of delicates, Cross Country will treat your precious belongings like a baby.
