Long-distance move from Lake Forest, CA to Meridian, ID

This is a bait and switch, they are criminals.

This is the worst moving experience I have ever had, they absolutely low ball you on price and collect a deposit, then days before the move they call for a final inventory and the price gets jacked way up. The problem is, they wait to call until your deposit can no longer be refunded. So you either lose your large deposit or agree to a higher rate. By the way, the final rate is far more expensive than a standard moving Co., this is not a discount moving Co.

At the time of the final inventory, my quote had tripled. I explained that i did not want to pay that much and that i would get rid of a bunch of stuff in order to get down to my original quote amount. They convinced me to overestimate and to use a bigger truck even if i would be getting rid of things, this way we were sure that the truck sent out would fit everything. They told me that I would only be charged for the space that i used and that i would be refunded for any unused space.

THAT WAS A LIE!

Now that they have my money, I am being told i will not be given a full refund and I am paying for the size of the truck that was sent, not just the space i used. They now refuse to speak with me or respond to emails.

These people are criminals, they should not be allowed to run a business. They are a classic bait and switch and i promise you, they are not worth your time or your money.

Oh and not to mention, they picked up my stuff on 12/10/20, it is now 1/5/21 and i still do not have my belongings. They tell you it will only take a few days but that too is a lie.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Portland, OR

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE CROSS COUNTRY MOVING GROUP or STOP AND MOVE. I received a quote from Glenn Fitzgerald with an assurance that it was not a low quote with an upcharge later. He sent an email calling out that his quote was accurate to my list and they don't upcharge. Lie. The company they sub'd to is called Stop and Move. They called me the day before pickup and said that it would be double the price. Cross Country Move has my list of items and nothing had changed. The moving company was rude and said that they just wouldn't show. Of course, they know you are in a bind with no other movers who are able to respond that quickly. They picked up my items and never gave a delivery date. I finally called (after 3 weeks) and they said that they'd be there the next day. AND, they wanted more money to deliver. So, essentially, they were hold my possessions hostage. I paid them to get my property. Most of my possessions were damaged. Some were so well packed that they would have had to intentionally damaged to cause the shattered glass that existed. I had to call over and over to no avail for an insurance claim. I finally reached Stop and Move and they forwarded me to another rep who never called back. Insurance claim results is unlikely as no one will respond.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Austin, TX

A stress-free move like no other

Without a doubt this has been the most thrilling moving experience I have had so far. I used to stress about packing all my belongings before the big move, and without fail something would always become damaged or go missing for several weeks. However, Cross Country has put all my fears to rest. They have been a life saver and I plan to go them for all my future moving needs. They did most of the packing for me, and they made sure everything arrived safely to my new place, giving me one less thing to worry about. I highly recommend their services to anyone that wants a stress free moving experience.

Long-distance move from Santa Fe, NM to Layton, UT

Movers LIED to ME

Salesman and customer service representatives initially were helpful, but I was told that the moving truck would come straight to my new home, since the move was only 600 miles: NO offload, NO storage, and receipt of my possessions in 2 days, after pick up.

LIES< LIES< LIES

Received a call from a second party mover in Las Vegas, who was ready to offload my possessions into a warehouse, no guarantee when I would receive them BUT if I paid $600. in expedited shipping, they would come in 2 days.

I am sorely disappointed in the way my case was handled: buyer beware! IF you are promised ANYTHING, get it in WRITING before you pay a dime.

Long-distance move from Baton Rouge, LA to Dallas, TX

Move from Louisiana to Texas.

Moving can be super stressful, if not one of the most stressful events in a person’s life. However, Cross Country Moving Group knocked it out of the park! They made this move for me and my boyfriend so easy, stress free and super successful. This company really showed themselves from the get-go! The movers arrived on time and ready to work. Not to mention, they were polite, and professional and handled all of our belongings gently. From getting and estimate quote to loading and unloading, everything was done upfront with no surprises (aka hidden or extra fees). Furthermore, they even went above and beyond our expectations by helping us set up our TV upon arrival at our new location. Thank you so much, Cross Country Moving Group, for helping us from start to finish! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to save a lot of time effort.

Solid move

Cross Country Moving was referred to me by a friend that uses them frequently and I can see why. My experience was practically painless, the service representatives I talked to were very polite and helpful, and the move itself quick. They showed up on time and moved all my items with speed and care. Really glad I tried them out for my move and will more than likely be using them again in any future moves.

Long-distance move from Washington, DC to Berkeley, CA

Worst possible experience

Phone calls in advance were great. Then it became the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. On pickup (in DC), the “head” mover was aggressive, intimidating and I considered calling the police to get them out of my apartment. But they had already wrapped some things and threatened me with a charge for stopping. They dragged my light colored couch along the sidewalk and over doorstops uncovered. Then, they had a measuring scheme that made the cost 10x what was estimated on the phone +they packed furniture in the truck both to maximize that and ensure damage to furniture. The movers said the company I called had nothing to do with the pricing and demanded a check for their pricing or they would take my furniture and possessions away and destroy them. Then, the storage and re-delivery process was not as described and I got a random call saying they wouldn’t store anymore and I had to find a storage space immediately at the end location. After arranging delivery at the new location and verifying the delivery location was accessible and no extra cost would apply (weeks in advance of expected delivery, which was supposedly 2-4 days when I got the frantic first call but ended up being weeks of sore age fees for no reason and no way to plan) I received a call THE MORNING OF delivery and was told the location was not accessible and asked to book instead a nearby storage facility. At great coast and stress, I actually did. THEN I got a call when the drivers arrived and was told that they had to change trucks 2 blocks away from the new location ans I had to pay for that bc they had another load in the truck that would need to be left behind. THEN I was told there would be extra charges bc the unit I acquired with 1 hour notice was a 10ft beyond some random distance. FINALLY, I didn’t lot recover all of my belongings (and questioned it at the time bc I recognized some of my boxes in the truck and was told they were part of the other delivery and I wasn’t allowed to look at the boxes to verify. Finally, after I told the delivery driver to just leave because it was so aggressive (again), I found a box full of another person’s belongings in my unit (used sex toys that I accidentally touched when opening a box I was told was mine. I reported the most-delivered box and all other issues and nothing at ALL was done and I was threatened with a lawsuit if I made any further inquiries. It was SO outrageous and disruptive that I was going to make reports in both states but, given the aggressiveness, cost and time already spent l, I decided to drop it in case my address and other info would make me unsafe.

Scam Artists

Their initial estimate was incredibly cheap. We were skeptical but they explained that they charge per pound instead of cubic foot and that was why they come in low. This was a couple months before the move.

A couple of DAYS before they move they called and doubled the estimate, basing it on cubic feet (despite what we had been told). They had already collected a hefty deposit and were unwilling to refund it so we had to continue forward.

Day of move they sent a truck that wasn't large enough for the move (even based on their estimates) and didn't have the packing materials we paid for, or enough labor to complete the task. We sent them away and contacted the company. They were unresponsive for a few days until we attempted to cancel the contract, at which point they tried to find us a new mover. It took them 12 days, to the point where our house closing was going to happen before the move, which isn't possible, so we had to go with someone else.

After choosing someone else because they were unable to service the move they refused to refund us our full deposit claiming it was our choice to end the contract, not theirs.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They are a complete scam/

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Atlanta, GA

The entire process was very smooth, efficient, professional.

I was moving at 37 weeks pregnant and needed someone who would be sensitive to my situation as well as do the packing for me. The 2 movers who came to help were very nice and did not let me pick up the smallest of bags. They did all my packing in less time than initially estimated as well as were efficient in the move and unpacking as well. There were issues with the loading area in my destination building but they were very accommodating and worked around a repair schedule that was on going t the delivery site. I would most definitely want to use them again if even I need them. The entire process was very smooth, efficient, professional and humane.

Long-distance move from Utica, MI to Fremont, CA

Movement from Michigan to California

We were suppose to move from Michigan to California and were searching for good and professional movers. On the first place, Cross country movers are not even a moving company, they are just a broker company with their business operated just with phone and nothing else. At first, this sales guy called Robert used to call me repeatedly to book both Car and Household movement through them and he promised they will deliver things by 10 days. My bad days triggered immediately after booking through them. They handed over the contract to a moving company called Arena Van lines. We had discussed $1,950 for 300 cuft and once they arrived at my source location, they charged $2,800 for 400 cuft saying items were oversized than estimation. They picked up the items on Feb 13th 2021 and from then the bad days started counting. We started counting 10 days, 20 days , 30 days and so on and there were no information whether the house hold items is in transit or not and the customer care representatives at Cross Country Moving group were so rude at us and used to say do not call them for updates and used to hung up the phone immediately after few conversations. There were no real help and used to ask to contact the moving company directly and not to contact them back. At heated conversation situations, they said they will cancel the movement and dump all the items. Why should I have done business with them if this was the service they provided. Literally after 45 days my house hold items got shipped to California from Michigan and these guys did not even say 'SORRY' for the delay at least once. They did not even consider my request to prioritize the shipment as it was too difficult for me to manager 2 small kids with empty house. I was told by the transportation company that these guys charged $812 commission for my movement. All they have is an office with few phone lines to cheat the customers. Never will again do any business with them nor will refer anyone to them. Avoid such cheating company.

Long-distance move from Kansas to Missouri

What a bunch of crooked scammers.

I'll start by saying I gave them one star because you can give negative stars, but these people are far from any type of star. I provided Neal Snoep with a written list of the the items I needed to have moved to which Neil provided me a price of $4,100 (round numbers for the sake of the review). They greedily accepted the deposit within minutes. From this point, I didn't hear from Neil until after the debacle, although he said to call him anytime with questions or concerns. I left several messages for Neil prior to the move and they went unanswered. I was called by another unscrupulous person, James, the day before the move and quoted an additional another $1,500 approximately. When the movers showed up, they increased the price to over 8K. They showed up with a near full truck containing two other jobs (per the driver) and couldn't have fit my items on the truck. They moved nothing and kept my money. When I called and asked for a refund, their employee, Annie said the only way to get a refund was to fill out a cancelation form. I specifically asked if I would get my money back if I did this and they replied "YES" in a taped conversation. After the cancellation paper was signed, I was told there would be no refund because it was canceled within 72 hours of the move. Hearing this, I made several other calls and was finally contacted by Todd Lewis. He apologized for the mess, but told me there was no way they could move my things that day as I needed to be out of the house by morning. The COO of the company Todd Lewis gave me his written word to reimburse me for my costs to move my own items since their movers left without taking anything. After hearing Cross Country would not be able to move our items, I procured another truck and manpower and storage to get my items moved. The storage is needed because Cross Country was to store my items for two months. After having moved more than half of the items myself, Todd called back and said his mover could come back that night. i told him to send them back and they could take the rest of the items, again, less than half of the items from the original list. His movers showed showed up at 8:44 p.m. and began to reassess the remaining items. They then presented me with a total price of $5,100 to move the remaining items. This price was in excess of the original quote for less than half the cubic footage of items. His movers came in and measured nothing, while I had measured everything. they made ridiculous claims about how it would fit in the truck and insisted on getting ore money for the job. Not willing to pay more money, than what was contracted for, I told them to take only the quantity of items for which I had already paid and they said it was all or nothing and for the stated price. They left once again without taking any items. Todd Lewis, an office or the company has reneged on his written word to reimburse me for what I have spent to move my own items and he still has the money that I paid them. This is a very unscrupulous company and I hope to see their scam in the news very soon.

They are only moving company i like to move.

I moved from one end of the state to the other using Cross Country Moving Group and it went quite well. It was important for me not to go over the estimate that had been given and I know the movers couldn't tell me anything until they weighed the truck, but in their professional opinion of how much they've seen, they kept me informed if I was on target. And I came under the quote.

Long-distance move from Saint Paul, MN to Winooski, VT

Do not use. They will quote you and double your costs

This was the most traumatic horrible experience I’ve had in a VERY long time. First, I talked to a sales rep told him exactly what I had the size of my bins to my bed and bed frame. I explained in great detail. I have text messages asking what the price included and if there were any hidden fees or if this would be the exact price. HetextedMe saying no hidden feesThiswasit. I actually had gotten about 14 other estimates and I chose this one because it was not the cheapest and not the most expensive (quality assurance so I thought.) I had everything set nicely with whatever was going to the truck in my living room (besides my bed and bed frame) keep in mind i have a small 750 square foot apartment. I had to work so I had a friend who knew what needed to be done stay at my place to let the movers in and out because I thought that’s all that was needed. I originally got a text saying the mover would be there Wednesday 9am-11am and the text sounded like it was just him. I quickly replied and asked for assurance that he would have an extra person. No response. I called customer support and explained what was said and she said well it looks like he thought he could carry it all. Which there is no way unless he intended to drag my items that he would be able to do so. The night before the move I get another call saying the time they will arrive is 10-2. Which was fine.Theyarrivedat 1:30/1:45. They called and said I needed to sign papers so I drove back home as I only work 6 minutes away from my apartment. I felt extremely rushed and wasn’t able to read anything I was signing and wasn’t really explained what was what. then he began to explain that since I have an elevator I will be charged and since it’s a longer walk I will be charged and all of these random fees like to wrap my tv so it doesn’t break. But in my text messages the sales rep told me this was all included... and then he went on saying my price would be DOUBLE because it’s more stuff than on my itinerary. I pulled it up and I’m like uh no this is everything listed. And then he continue to says that’s how the sales reps getcha they low ball the space needed so you feel like you’re getting a deal I say I didn’t budget 4K for a move especially with so little items. I asked if there is someone I can call to speak about this as I can’t afford it. He didn’t give me a number and told me to contact whoever I made a reservationwith. He continued to say he could just charge me for his drive and leave because I won’tfind a betterprice. Frantically I called my sales rep he texted and said he was busy but to call a number and hit 3. I’m in tears because the driver was rude I’m freaking out because of the entire situation and so forth. The other mover comes up to me and said “just so you know I don’t work for this company he just hired me today” reassuring me he was not affiliated with him. I told them do what you can, I can fit the bins in my crv if I put the seats down. Take things I can’t fit in my carlikethe bed my couch my tv and tv stand,he said okay “I can do that”. I had to step away from the situation so The rep called my friends number to get ahold of The mover as he was not answering his phone. He continued to assure the rep that we talked and everything was figured out. I get to work and I get a textfrommyfriendthatthey left my tv stand my bed and my bed frame and they were leaving. My friend tried to say something but the mover said that it was done. I called the rep freaking out because my anxiety was so bad. He puts me on a 3way call with the mover. I start frantically saying how do you expect me to fit a mattress andstuff into my car. The mover said he doesn’t handle any of that and to take it up with the rep and the rep actually got upset with the mover and told him if he told me he would take my bed to take the bed. Which the mover refused. At this point I just wanted it to be over with so I asked him to go drop my stuff off. I was told I would be charged for time and labor and I didn’t care. I would rather throw all my items away before having to go through more of this. The mover refused and the sales rep said she’s able to call the police if you don’t return her things. He just mumbled something and that’s was it. I’m bawling at this point and I asked how much exactly would it be to take the little amount of shit that was left in my apartment. Hesays2k and the rep calmly said no including fuel surcharge it would be 980 if you claim thats how much space she needs. At this point my boss comes with me, we get to my placeand see the semi leaving the complex.Hesaidheneededtostopforlunch and needed to find a new mover to help. It was 4:45.. I said we would haul it and He said no he would be back in 45 minutes. Myself and 2 others hauled everything outsideFor him to just lift into the truck when he arrived. This was when my property manager comes up to me and asked why things where being moved out threw my PATIO ON THE SECOND FLOOR earlier in the day.

I definitely would use them again.

We moved to a new neighborhood about five miles down the road and got Cross Country Moving Group to move our furniture. Initially, a different company quoted me something higher. And I talked to few other companies and someone else came in just a little lower. And then, Cross Country Moving Group was able to come even lower than that. The quote they gave me was good and very fair. The rep who assisted me was able to answer all my questions, and everything was simple and easy. The moving crew was very friendly too. They did a great job, and they were also able to answer any questions that we had. They did the wrapping of the furniture and they finished moving in a little less time than we had estimated. They were moving the entire day and the guys were able to get done an hour and a half earlier. It was a very easy experience. Everyone I worked with was great. If I happen to move again, I definitely would use them again.

We're pretty satisfied with the experience.

We had to wait a few days to get all the paperwork done with the bank to actually own the house. Everything was put in the storage down in Florida and we had to wait for about a week. That week came and gone and then, they were trying to get it at the end of that week. So, it took a little while to get the furniture to the new house. They unloaded everything and overall, they did good work. We're pretty satisfied with the experience but they should be more serious about moving.

I was satisfied with everything they did.

I was moving around 40 miles and on the day itself, it was a little bit misty and we thought it was gonna pour. The guys from Cross Country Moving Group were great and cordial. Whenever I called, as it got closer, they were available to return the calls in a timely fashion. They took great care of our stuff and wrapped everything like they said they would. My wife and I were right there with them. Our stuff went in the storage, and then they brought it back out after a week and a half and set everything up like they said they would. It was a couple of the same guys with some different ones. We had a couple of little dings that they reconciled through their claim process. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I was satisfied with everything they did.

Avoid this company Goods still not delivered almost 2 months

Cross Country is a BROKER, they are NOT the movers. They subcontract out their work. Per Chris today 7/7/21, they do NOT own ANY trucks. They told us THEY WERE THE MOVERS. This was lie.

I'm filing a complaint with DOT for a number of issues: including fraud, and misrepresentation. I'm considering a class action law suit as well.

They subcontracted our job out to S & M Relo. A company with TERRIBLE RATINGS. They picked up our goods May 16, in Flagstaff AZ with delivery to DC Metro area. It is July 7, and they still are NOT here, in 10 days it will be 2 MONTHS that we have waited! When we repeatedly notified Cross Country their only response is, "We can't do anything about it."

Do not use Cross Country Moving Group from Del Ray Fla company!
