City Moves

The whole team was great. They took great care and worked tirelessly to pack the vans. Upon arrival they were very patient placing boxes where required and relocating our garden during a full on hail storm. Much coffee was drunk and biscuits consumed and a very happy customer. One note of caution was the surveyor underestimated the volume of space required - the company came up trumps though and supplied an extra van at a reasonable price to follow on the next day.
I would recommend this company.

Generally, I want to recommend City Moves as the team that carried out the move were helpful, friendly, and worked very hard to make the whole thing as easy as it could be.
I think the back office could possibly sharpen their operation just a small bit as there were several confusions over provision of packaging and payment arrangements during the final weeks (mainly differences of understanding between the surveyor and the back office) - not enough to make me discourage anyone from using City Move - just as something that they might consider tightening up in order to provide a truly excellent experience. Some very slight damage to items, but nothing I would not have expected from anyone else as well.
Overall very good and would recommend!!

I used city moves as was impressed by their quote but also struggled to get another company who were willing to move me from Bristol to Manchester in a Luton van. I also used their packing service. The 3 lovely gentlemen turned up early on the day of the move and packed the van quickly - there were a few issues getting my bed dismantled but not their fault - broken screws. They had not bought a drill though to solve the issue which would have been helpful as mine was already packed! The gentlemen were very kind and reassuring, as I was moving a long distance on my own, and I would not hesitate to use the moving company again. I however was not so impressed with the packing service - I ended up with twice the amount of boxes than I had moved in with (even though I had less stuff) due to the man who came to pack emptying drawers to pack clothes in boxes and packing items like sofa cushions and foot stools! Which caused much hilarity when unpacking! Unfortunately as he had used twice as many boxes as was needed I could not fit my garden stuff in the van and had to arrange a friend to come and pick those up - so am now in Manchester with all my garden stuff still in Somerset - not ideal. I am not sure why drawers had to be emptied of clothes when every other removal company I have ever used have just moved the drawers with contents in and no idea why sofa cushions were put in boxes..Also the wrong rooms were written on several boxes which meant that some items took some time to be found as, for instance, I found all my soup bowls in the "office" box and my Duvet (yes packed in a box) in the "kitchen" box. I was however overall very impressed with the company and my dealings with them so maybe I just had a new member of staff come to do the packing who had not done it before.

We had used City moves previously and had been given a fabulous service.
we recently moved in the run up to Christmas and use the team again. Apart from some missed appointments and some confusion in the office in regards to this, we received a great service the movers were swift and took care with our items.

Due to the weather on the day they used there packing blankets to save the mess on the floors which saved us more mess.

Again great service, they did what it says on the bottle, so thank you for helping with the move.

Recently used city moves removals and one of thier storage depots in bristol, I has access to my stuff on many occations just to grab a few items they didn't mind helping me out,. The price was very compettitve I had never used a registered/renowned removal company before such as city moves and pickfords in fear of the price but city moves were on the button with price with a top quality service. I will reccomend to friends and family, moving house is so stressful and there is so much to remember but when I booked with city moves they sent me a usefull pack which explained all the hidden and often forgotten things to remember when moving home. This really did help us , we were out before 2 just like the surveyor estimated and by tea time we were sat as a family eating a take away at our dining table which clive, darren and terry popped back up for us before they set off. We have ised man in a van on previous moves and suffered the nusance of waiting for two trips in a small vehicle and two men who just didn't have much of a clue. After a chat over a cuppa coffee in the morning these guys put me at ease , they knew thoer job they we calm and just made our day. We had a large new lorry in our drive which oddly made us feel proud when we arrived in our new street. The kids were happy seeing the man from the go compare adverts on the side and finding out that clive the removal man moved his house. Thanks again to city moves I hope you get to see this post I have also written to you via emal but thought I would share with others also. A davies cf36 -bs1.

We have moved frequently and this has been our worst experience. The company turned up late, caused damage to our house and belongings and put items in the wrong rooms (heavier boxes for upstairs were 'hidden' downstairs under other boxes). We expected some minor damage as part of the moving process but not this much. We complained about the damage and some items were partly repaired. However much has not been mended and the shelves that were have been returned in a number of pieces. We would not recommend this company.

We have just had our move done by City Moves, who came highly recommended by a friend of ours, who they moved to Australia. From start to finish City Moves we Professional, Polite and very helpful, they organised the move start to finish very efficiently, as we had a full packing service and our property had terrible access. This did not stop the City Moves team operate the move with ease!

Both my husband and I were amazed to see the team we had zip through our house packing and loading, always with a smile I might add.

I would recommend City Moves to anyone who asks, with no hesitation.

First of all I want to say how impressed I was with the removal guys that came out, they were polite and quick, and as a woman moving on my own I cannot express how much less stressful this made the whole experience. However, everything they did was sadly over shadowed by the company as a whole. I had a visit from Phil Sadafi to come and see me and do the quote. He seemed very professional and friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. My move needed the big lorry to be parked and he said two shuttle lorries to take the house contents out. I told him I had had a quote from Pickfords for £5,500 which I found way too high (as did everyone I spoke to). He laughed and said well that was Pickfords for you and they could do the job in a day less and he would come back with a competetive quote. I recieved the quote by email and in bold figures it said £4,500 which was a full £1,000 less than Pickfords, it was still high but I felt I was limited on time so had few options, and besides he seemed to be straightforward and know what was what and made statements about all the big moves they had done and this one was not a problem at all. However when I had the final invoice for the money that was taken out of my account pre move it said £5,400, a full £900 above what I expected. I questioned this and was told to ring the office. I read through the quote again and saw in the small print that the quote was subject to VAT. Now, legally they did nothing wrong as it was in the small print, but as a consumer rather than a business I would expect the numerical figure on the front page to include VAT. I feel this was done because had he had done that, he knew that his quote would not be competitive to Pickford at all. I felt cheated and that I had been massive;y mislead. I spoke to trading standadrs who said that although legally they had followed the rules, I had a case because it was misleading. I followed up with company but they were unresponsive and unhelpful and offered nothing but 'well it is in the small print'. If £5,400 was the cost, it was the cost, but it should have been clear and it really wasn't. I believe they knew exactly what they were doing (otherwise why not be upfront and make it clear?). As everybody who has moved knows, it's highly emotive and stressful time and you really don't feel like battling on top of everything else. I feel they took advantage and will continue to and they really don't care (as a call to them will tell you). I didn't have the funds allocated to this and didn't expect it, whilst they did nothing technically illegal, they are misleading (especially given he effusive and voacl thoughts on my previous quote), he knew damn well that as it turned out the quote wasn't very impressive at all. Also the quote was costed for 5 men for two days and there were only 4. He failed to let the guys know they needed a sack carrier to move a very heavy garden ornament ( a precious sculpture of my dog that had died, that was probably one of the most important items I have, not expensive, but sentimental)and in the end it was just lucky my neighbour had one we could borrow either end, which I had to return to south wales (from Cheshire) the following week (5 hour round trip for something he was very clear he needed to provide). They also only had one shuttle lorry which meant there was no room for everything and some items had to stay which I have now had to put in storage for a year at my own cost. All in all I would not recommend City Moves which is a shame as they have some good guys working for them who they badly let down, because they get tarred with the same brush as their managment. I don't recommend them at all, but I would recommend that their guys set up on their own with a much more transparent, communicative and understand management who don't mislead people going through a stressful move.

I contacted City Moves approximately 8 days before my actual move, and from the initial contact to the actual move, everything went very well. I liaised with Jamie at The Office, and discussed  the items of storage to be moved, and the costings by phone and email. On the actual moving day on 16th October, 2014, two men, Daniel and Alex came to meet me at the house, and they started to empty out my Bedsit, and before long the van was full with all my items.      We then proceeded to another very quick pick up of 4 items, and that was absolutely no problem for them. We then travelled to the final destination and the men emptied out their van, and I asked them to move  a bedframe and mattress into another room, which they did without hesitation.  Before long everything was put in the area that I wanted, and we had a well deserved cup of tea!  and then they were  on their way.      I have another small furniture move in The New Year, and I will definitely return to City Moves, as I know I can rely on them.   Thank You City Moves,      Suzanna.

I would like to thank everyone at CityMoves for their hard work. This is the 2nd time I have used this company for my relocation and would without doubt recommend this company. Having used other companies in the past, CityMoves made a very stressful day go with ease from the start to finish. Nothing was ever too much. I would also like to thank the office staff as we had to change our date on numerous occasions due to issues with our buyers. Many thanks for the great move.

I was very happy on the day, but I am very disappointed with my wardrobes. I paid to have them dismantled and put back, but when it came to putting them back. The 3 wardrobes had been mixed up and they couldn't get them back together, because of missing parts, leaving me with 3 very expensive broken items.  I would use them again, but I wouldn't pay extra next time. And I would make sure they look after loose items better, like bikes, as they are a little worse off after the move. .

Recently, we needed to remove our furniture and belongings to Scotland.  After I tried many different removal cmpanies, I found this removal company through internet: Based in south wales.  The person answered my call was Tracy Thomas who talked me with confidence and a very frendly manner. Having asked me a few questions, Tracy quickly gave me a quote. Compared with other offeres, the quote he gave me was reasonable and acurate.  But the most impressive part of his service is how much care they took in moving the furnitures:  For such a long distance, they had not just communicated efficiently with me in a very friendly manner, but arrived in time and treated every piece of furniture with great care, even automatically wrapped some of the furniture with extra package materials.  People in its removal team took the job very seriously, everyone shared the same attitude as their team leader. One by one, in a very efficient manner, they moved all my furniture and belongings in their original conditions into our home in Scotland. I was very impressed.  I strongly recommend this company to anyone who needs a company to help for their removals. They are just excellent!

Our experience-
Van turned up 2 hours later than expected, without pre-arranged wardrobe boxes resulting in us having to pack best clothing into bin bags. Sofa and cupboard scratched upon loading into van and internal hall wall damaged. Rang the company to complain next day, terrible customer service. Was told "as far as we're concerned the job was completed yesterday". Effectively called a liar that the arrival time had been confirmed to us a day prior for 8am and unapologetic that we'd had to pack our belongings into bin bags after ordering wardrobe boxes on the booking. As for the damage to goods and property was told "that's what our insurance is for, we're a removal firm things get damaged".
Wouldn't use or recommend them again. They were a good company sadly they aren't anymore. Shame.

I arranged for full packing and moving on 1 day. On the day of move I got a call at 9 am that due to lack of vehicle it will now be done in 2 days. 2 peoples came for packing but left early afternoon with house in half packed state.
Next day they couldn't shift till 2 pm so had to call other team. This team refused to pack my left over stuff and when I objected then packed rest of the stuff in unprofessional way using my personal blanket and did not use proper covering.
My sofa was pushed hard against door without cover damaging both sofa and door as well as floor.
I also noticed dent on fridge and other items also damaged.
I sent pictures next day and it's nearly more than 5 months and I am still waiting this matter to be sorted despite calling multiple times and sending many emails.
I was told that they even deleted my previous emails so asked me to send original email again.
It's clearing terms and conditions that if damage is due to negligence then they will pay for damage. They kept on ignoring my emails and calls by saying that I didn't have premium insurance.
I'm am very disappointed with customer service and would never recommend this to anyone.

Following a crisis with aged parents, we needed to juggle some furniture between two homes. We are so indebted to City Moves who at very short notice provided two men and a big van. I explained to these guys what needed to happen, from that point I needed to provide no further input. They just got on with the job. They packed the items, loaded the van and carried out the move. All this done very carefully, very safely and with good humour. Great guys, efficient and I would not hesitate to recommend them. I can't give the locations of the move as the town's are not on the drop down menus. That's the fault of this site not the movers. The cost is our business but is not optional on this site, so have entered a fictional amount. But they were great value.
