We were moving a 3br house, and had booked 1x 8tonne truck + 1x 4 tonne truck with 4 men to help us move. The moving time "window" was 10am-2pm. After calling at 11am to find out when the trucks would arrive, we were told one truck would arrive at 11:30am with the second to follow later. By 1:30pm no trucks had arrived. After phoning to find out where they were, I was told there were delays and if possible could they come out and move us the next day. There were no return phone calls to advise on any assistance, delays, or alternatives for us. In the end after waiting until 2pm, we had no choice but to find another company to help us move on the same day. We are still waiting for our booking refund for cancelling the service. No words can explain how angry, frustrated and disappointed we are at this appalling customer service for such a busy and stressful event. Never again.

I can’t speak for the company as a whole, but the Adelaide branch of CBD Movers is full of incompetent and disrespectful staff. Do yourself a favour and avoid CBD Movers to save yourself the stress and frustration.

Here’s just a few reasons I will never use or recommend CBD Movers again:

- Miscommunicated the time of arrival of the removalist; I was blamed for this and greeted by two very cranky and unenthusiastic men

- Worked without haste or efficiency; two fairly crucial qualities when you’re charging by the hour

- Left some of my belongings behind and refused to return to collect them; again customer service informed I was somehow to blame irregardless the driver admitting fault to me

- Work came to a complete stand still when it came time to arrange payment (amidst the unpacking of my belongings). I still paid for this period of time that absolutely nothing was being done.

- The removalist had a conversation to customer service in front of me (using my phone) in another language for which purpose I can only assume was to prevent me from overhearing what ever it is they had to say, especially given all other communication had been in English (where is the transparency with billing here??). It made me very uncomfortable and instilled a lot of uncertainty about the amount I was billed for. This should have been discussed and agreed upon earlier and certainly in a more professional manner.

- I was then accused of underpaying despite the receipt sent to customer service and the driver clearly stating the correct amount. Upon realising they had incorrectly accused me, no apologies were offered.

I submitted a detailed complaint to CBD Movers as directed by customer service. I never received a reply. I tried to call to follow-up my complaint - I was hung up on. This company is full of completely incompetent, unprofessional and disrespectful people and I would not recommend them if you wish to have a stress-free experience.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $590

I am so disappointed with the lack of service I received. I booked for a Saturday 12- 3pm, after 2pm I received a call saying that my job had been moved to 3-6pm time slot. At 5.30pm I received a call that my job had been cancelled, I was informed that they do not work Sundays but could come Monday 3-6pm, I booked then. At 4.30pm Monday I rang to check how things were going as nobody had arrived, I was on hold for 15 mins whilst somewhere checked, they then told me they would call me back in 2 mins. No one called back. I rang back about 5.20pm. I asked where the truck was and was informed they would be there at 7pm. I asked if they were really coming as I really needed to move, they told me they would be there. At 6.45pm I received a call, the job had been cancelled, they rescheduled for the following morning 7am-9am. I was so concerned they wouldn’t turn up, I found another company who did the job that night. I am so disapointed with cbd movers and the lack of service i recieved. I took a day off work because they had delayed my original booking, then they didn’t turn up. I also had to find alternative accomodation at the last minute for 3 nights. I lost money and time during really stressful circumstances. This company are dodgy, dishonest and should be avoided.

The worst moving experience I have had. DO NOT believe the positive reviews.

"Broken truck", delayed arrival, exceptionally slow movers, so slow infact we had to move ALL of our 2 bedroom apartment ourselves out of the apartment and into our new one besides the fridge which they put 2 huge scratches in, washing machine and entertainment unit which they broke unloading from truck. Neither mover was wearing a mask as per Covid rules. After asking them to request one from the Receptionist in the building or walk 20m to the supermarket and buy one, they both refused. I was stupid enough to believe the reviews until I spoke to a friend today who also used them in her last move and items were stolen and she ended up having to make a police report. From there I also found a Facebook group about the alleged scams they are running with their customers. Considering we did the whole move ourselves apart from transport of goods, I'm not sure what we paid for.

When I sent in a complaint the next day they tried to work their way out of responsibility, claiming movers had told us about the damage prior to move. (Outright lie) claimed that damage was superficial so it didn't count as damage, tried to find loop holes in their T's&Cs. Then they finally decided they were going to offer me $47 to settle. What a joke. Beyond unprofessional.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $250

Worst experience, they lure into saying that there is insurance, but when asked for damages they dont offer any resolutions. Then they give threatening calls and ask you to answer in a Yes or No, no more. They do all the damages and ask you to prove that there were no damages before moving. Suggest if you decide to go with them click every pcture, you never know they will threaten you to provide any evidence.

No they want me to prove that there was no damage to my new Koala mattress, which ofcourse I don't have. Because why would someone take photos of everything before they ask the movers to shift those good in their trucks.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $440

If i could give 0 I would I’ve moved 27 times this was the worst experience of my life. I am a disabled pensioner moving from 3 x 1 to 3x1 house. Firstly less than 24hrs before the move they said they could no longer do it the next day when I had set up all the help I need with the move. They said they could do it the following day at 10. I get a phone call at 7 the truck is coming. It should have been 65ton it definitely wasn’t as they couldn’t fit half the stuff in. The two people who arrived spoke very little English and as what I want moved I said everything I’m moving house. They were so slow it took them till 1pm to leave my original house. I ended up paying $965 for the move a ridiculous price. I am going to report them to the ombudsman because what they are doing is illegal

I moved from a small three bedroom apartment to a small two bedroom apartment 500 metres down the road on the weekend and used CBD Movers. They arrived more than two hours late and because they arrived late they lost the parking spot I had reserved fir them. It took them 8.5 hours to move my belongings which is very convenient considering they charge by the half hour. I was very clear about what was to be moved and I had told the company beforehand that there were a couple of flights of stairs. They left a stack of stuff behind and any efforts to call them after the fact were frustrating to say the least. Their attitude, including the movers on the day and any communication afterward was disgusting! Please don’t use this company, they will over charge you and treat you in a disgraceful manner.
