Long-distance move from Montreal-Ouest, QC to Ottawa, ON

Move from Montreal to Ottawa.

These guys were great! Mark was friendly and quickly gave me a quote. Mark responded to my inquiries and I was contacted the day before the move to let me know when the movers would show up. On the moving day the movers were terrific, they called me about 1/2 hour before showing up to let me know they were on the way. Very friendly, helpful and got everything loaded up and off. We ran into a few logistical issues, but the movers were absolutely fantastic about solving the issues and getting everything in one trip and off to our new home. A huge thanks to Canadian Reliable Vanlines and the crew they sent to help us.

Long-distance move from Guelph, ON to Regina, SK

Horrible..terrible..despicable..

This company is absolutely horrid. DO NOT hire them. Moving from Guelph Ont to Regina. Mark is a liar and will say anything to get your deposit. He actually sent me an email guaranteeing the date of August 1st for delivery to Regina. Once he got my deposit, the nightmare began.
They picked up my stuff in Guelph on July 24th. This is from a 575 sq ft one bedroom condo. I wasn't taking the couch, tv stand, table and 2 stools. So only had a double mattress/box spring, dresser, nite stand, desk, desk chair, coffee table, tv and 14 boxes (that I was able to lift easily). The truck was already half full before they loaded my stuff. The next day they tell me I had almost 2000 lbs. I asked for the official weigh ticket and they sent me one dated July 25th that had to have included someone elses furniture. Their response was full payment was due immediately or they wouldn't deliver my stuff.
So based on Mark's written guarantee that it would be delivered August 1st, I booked airline tickets to be out their that week. On July 30th, I phoned them to confirm the delivery. Mark put me over to their operations guy, Bruno. He stated the truck was "stuck" in Northern Ontario and wouldn't get delivered until August 6th thru 8th. So I had to pay an extra $900 to change all the airline flights. Arrive in Regina August 5th to be there for the delivery. Called them August 7th to confirm. Was told by Bruno it would now be the 9th or 10th. My return flight back to Toronto was booked for August 11th and I told him it absolutely had to be delivered by the 10th. Called them again on the 9th to confirm the delivery. Was transferred to the rude, arrogant person called Stephen who started yelling at me and told me I was annoying him and he hung up on me. So I had to pay another $225 to change my return flight back to Toronto.
Truck finally arrived in the evening of August 11th. Most of the boxes were crushed, the dresser had several knobs ripped off, the nite stand had a foot wripped off, the desk was covered in scrapes and scratches and the coffee table had chunks missing out of it. Disgusting!! And the moving guys pretend they can't speak English very well.
So for the few items I moved, it cost me $1400 with these incompetent people, and over $2500 in airline tickets. I would have been better off just buying new furniture in Regina since most of my stuff was damaged anyway.
Run away from this company. There must be better ones out there but I have a feeling they all try to pull this crap. Good Luck!!

Local move within Alberta

Canadian unreliable more like.

We booked through Mark back at the beginning of June for a move on July 23rd to Toronto from Alberta. He refused to give me any information via email, he would ONLY talk on the phone. Clue #1. He was helpful, until he got $200 for a deposit from me. Then he refused to send a receipt, telling me I'd receive it on the moving day. Which doesn't make Sense as. Clue #2. So now, fast forward to July 22nd when I receive a phone call from Stephen regarding our delivery for THE NEXT DAY. He informs me that his "truck broke down in Regina" and "I'm giving you a day's notice so you can find another company". I replied with "what the f** do you mean you aren't delivery our items tomorrow now?" He then yelled at me on the phone and told me I wasn't getting my money then hung up on me. Well, they cancelled on me so they broke the contract and should refund my $200. I booked with them 2 months ago and didn't think anything of it. Thought we were secured but then bam, phone call out of no where. We move to Ontario on July 27th and here I am, struggling to find an actual DECENT moving company that won't screw us over. DON'T BOOK WITH MARK! You'll regret it just like I do now. We've called and emailed him and he just ignores us. Worst customer service ever. They don't deserve any customers.

Long-distance move from Edmonton, AB to Toronto, ON

Thanks Mark !!

I chose Canadian Reliable Vanlines based on the conversation I had with Mark on the phone He was very nice and explained the process very well, as I was moving for the first time across country so I definitely had a lot of questions and Mark was very helpful. The moving team that helped with the pick up and delivery I have to say they were brilliant!! They did a great job caring for all my furniture and belongings. When they arrived at my new home it was raining, they laid out floor runners and showed responsibility in not treading mud over the carpeting. The way they protected the doors and floors from the water was impressive. They were hard working and polite.

I will definitely be referring Mark and his Team to anyone I know who is moving

Thanks Again !!

Long-distance move from Montreal, QC to Toronto, ON

Avoid Avoid Avoid at All Costs.

If I could give 0 stars or even negative stars to this company I would.

My daughter booked a mover from Montreal to Toronto, sent them $ 200 deposit and then had to chase them every day for over a week to find out when they would pick up her stuff. When they came they assured her her belongings were under 1000 lbs, so no extra charges. They also said "when you're ready to move into your new place give us 1 day's notice." She moved in to her new apartment July 1 and was calling every day since then.

They gave her excuse after excuse and finally they admitted her things were still in storage .. in Montreal. Once they offered a date, now almost 3 weeks after they first picked up, it was upon payment of the invoice, that had not appeared up until now, showing a gross weight of almost 1,400 lbs and, of course, extra charges. Oh and the 1,400 lbs? A couch that me and my (not-that-strong) daughter could easily lift - I guess 200 lbs, a TV weighing 50-60 lbs, an electric fireplace, about 30 lbs from the manufacturer's website, a small IKEA coffee table, 26 lbs, and 10 boxes, all of which my daughter could lift on her own and one of which only had towels and blankets and two more just winter clothes.

I called the company on this and the person - Brenda - says her movers aren't professional so they can't be expected to know how heavy everything is. Seriously? You can't tell if a box is 50lbs or 100lbs? And YOU are the professionals? I know they lied and pulled a scam, but my daughter just wanted her things as she was living in a bare apartment for almost 2 weeks at that point so paid the ransom. By the time she got her things, her bill was almost 50% more than originally quoted. The boxes were all crushed, the couch was filthy like it has been left in a field. Oh and they charged her for "packing" even though a) they used her own boxes to "wrap" the TV, fireplace and coffee table, in spite of the original invoice saying clearly that packing and wrapping was included.

If you're looking to hire a moving company whatever you do please find someone else.

Long-distance move from Vancouver, BC to Calgary, AB

Lies and NO communication.

From the get-go I should have seen the red flags. Mark quoted me to move from Vancouver to Calgary. He handles calls/emails. Very minimal communication leading up to the move. And by minimal I mean one-word answer response to emails.
Moving day no one shows, called Mark and I hear "did no one call you", move rebooked for next day. Good thing I booked May 30 so I still had May 31 to move out. Nevermind my plans though.
I asked Mark on 2 occasions when booking, and right before the move "approx how long will it take to arrive in Calgary" and his response both times was "5 days!" LIES!
Transnational movers picked my belongings up, and in Calgary the company dispatch was a place called Star Movers. They won't give you anytime in advance of when they will call/move-in, and if they do don't count on it. It is a new building I was moving into and I need to book elevator in advance..lots of move-ins. And I travel for work so I'm in and out of town.
So now I'm on week 3 calling between 3 companies trying to figure out what's going on when I get no calls from the company to arrange a date when they said they would. Called Mark and yet again "did no one call you" (should be his catchphrase). He makes a call and calls me back, Yells at me accusing me of turning down a move date. Ya, because the company offered a Saturday, then week leading up to the Saturday, they called and said "We'll come Tuesday". It doesn't work like that. I travel for work and made arrangements for the Saturday.
Sure enough they didn't call to arrange that Saturday either.
In the end I took a leave from work to be sure I could around for their rare calls. I had to rent a U-Haul, and they moved my stuff right into my U-Haul because I could not get an elevator arranged with the short window of time they give. And apparently they could only deliver Tues and Sat.. I JUST WANTED MY STUFF. I moved myself in and paid them to do it.
So add the uhaul and additional 250$ for additional "weight" .. how do we even know that's true!
Moving Companies need govt regulations because of companies like these!

Long-distance move from Regina, SK to Hamilton, ON

Disappointed.

I had booked Canadian Reliable movers to move my home at the end of June. Very minimal communication up until that point.
I paid a deposit and had them booked to come on June 30th.
On June 27th a man called saying they would be coming to pick up my stuff the next day as their trip was early. I told them I would not be home as it was my last day of work and I wouldn't be ready. They told me this was not their problem so if I wasn't ready, I could just go with another company. When I asked if they would be doing anything to compensate me for their change in plans a man called me on the phone and told me that they had 4 other pickups on this trip so if I didn't go with their services it would be 'no sweat off their back'.
We all know how difficult getting a moving company is, let alone to move you across the country. I now had 2 days to hire another company to ship my stuff across Canada.
I mentioned that I had paid a deposit to confirm and hold their company for a specific date; looks like they should have paid me a deposit instead. When I brought this up the man on the phone laughed at me and told me that it was completely different.

It has now been OVER A MONTH and I have not received my deposit back, I have emailed Mark twice, I have left him voicemails, and have tried looking at other options for contacting them.

Not only am I extremely disappointed in their lack of professionalism, I am disgusted with their customer service and appalled at the fact that they still have not given me my deposit back for THEIR mistake.

I regret ever contacting this company to begin with.

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Montreal, QC

False advertisement. False information. Unprofessional.

I hired this company to facilitate my move from Calgary to Montreal and the salesman was very nice and eager to help me with everything but as soon as they got my deposit, it became more difficult to get a hold of them. Fortunately they showed up on time to pick up my stuff but the movers randomly put 2000 to 3000 lbs with no scale nothing to weigh my stuff. So far it was fine, I did not bother until we moved to Montreal and been waiting for our for 4 weeks. The salesman assured me it will take 3-4 weeks for my stuff to get to Montreal so when I called them trying to locate my stuff the guy was so cold to tell me I should get them within 2 weeks, that they will call me to let me know. So it will take longer than what I was told and it does not seem to bother them that I was lied and misled during the booking process. Now we re still waiting and God knows when we will get our stuff if we will get them eventually. My recommendation is do not do business with them.

International move from Reston, VA to Vancouver, BC

Mark Kross- the rudest person i’ve Ever spoken to and very racist.

I booked Canadian reliable van lines on the 19th of June with guaranteed pick up date between 26th to 29th of June. Told them lease expires , starting new job and very critical to be on time .

Initially before I gave the $200 deposit - Mark was fine to talk to but as soon as he gets your deposit and immigration documents he turns into a rude obnoxious person . In my case the entire team seemed to know the pick up won’t be possible including the truck drivers who called at 4 pm June 28th - Laughing to my face telling me truck broke down in Florida - very big lie —and won’t be able to come before July 2nd .

It seems like every time you explain them the urgency they purposely try to trouble you and make your like miserable or maybe they don’t want other immigrants starting new jobs in Canada.

Got a call from Steven from the company the same day and I informed him over the phone - i’ll Write it again - my credit card details and Canadian immigration documents and passport info. Is with Canadian reliable van lines - if any information is misused - I am reporting you to the cops and complaining to department of transport and informing customs and border patrol of your criminal activity!! This is the worst company , mark kross is the worst relocation consultant - he does not deserve to work in this industry.

Can’t believe people like you exist in this world let alone Canada . Please take out “reliable” from your companies name and [EDIT] it down for good all together.

Long-distance move from Ottawa, ON to Kentville, NS

Horrible Company. Do not use.

I would give negative stars if I could but I can't do it has to be 1.

It started out good, I was very happy with the service I received, the sales rep was helpful and seemed so kind (he turned out be not helpful and not so kind), he also was recommended by two people I know and that's the reason, really, that I went with the company.

First issue was that they wanted to change my date less than a day from the actual move date, I told them it couldn't change and we continued as planned with a few minor glitches. The guys who picked up my stuff were better than amazing (honestly they were unbelievably hard workers, and should be acknowledged for that - they were not employees of the company I hired, they were subbed out)! This was June 21st.

Then July 3rd came no stuff, even though I was told it would all be there between the 1st and 3rd of July (I have an email stating this from the company). I called and was told all kinds of reasons - from there were moose on the highway to my belongings were still in Ottawa - why I wasn't getting them..end of the week is what I was told. Friday came, nothing. I was then given quite a bit of attitude (I didn't get a name and he was actually quite condesending and mean) when I asked when it was arriving, basically it would be there when it got there, they were unsure of my belongings location at the moment and maybe I would receive it the end of this week.

It arrived a week late, and I truly would have forgotten all of the delays, I was just happy to see my stuff!

However, I am appalled at what happened, first of all I was told I had to pay them $300.00 cash (this was because they had to park on the street and it was over 100ft to walk) before they would unload it, no receipt would be given or they would charge me more. So I went to the bank to get cash for them. They then unloaded my stuff. There is not a box that wasn't destroyed, upside down, or crushed - most were all of those. The wrapping on my sofa was all but gone (I was charged previously for the 'packing' of that). My armchair has black grease marks, my sofa is never going to be the same and missing its original legs, my end table is destroyed, my coffee table is unfixable, my bed is ruined, my mattress is stained with black grease, my cat tree is in three pieces and unfixable, I have a smashed lamp, and a couple of smashed dishes.

Well today after months of attitude and just plain rudeness, they settled. $100. That's what this is worth to them. I have over $2000 in damages and they have offered me $100, which I know I will never receive. The manager today said that's all the insurance will cover, apparently I didn't have the proper coverage according to him, but the guy I spoke to before him said I did. Companies like this one drag this out on purpose hoping people give up in frustration and walk away.

The people I dealt with were Mark, Michael, Bruno, and Alicia..a few others who didn't give a name

I have photo documentation and all my emails saved if anyone needs to see them to validate my review!

Long-distance move from Ontario to New Brunswick

Horrible service.

The truck was over a week later than date given. I had to get them to only take half of what we were taking because of all the extra costs they were tacking on that I was not informed about. We had to rent a uhaul even though that is what we were trying to avoid. It cost over $1000 more than quoted. Everytime we called a different delivery date was given. No messages were returned by Mark when requesting updates. After many calls I finally got a response from management and got nothing resolved. Please read the small print before signing. Even after payment was taken they wanted another copy of my cc. I really should have listened to others that warned me about bad moving companies and did more research.

Should be 0 stars -.

As with many other reviews, booked and no-one showed up or called. I called the day before the move, spoke to the customer service person, no word that the move was delayed. Just spoke to Operations Manager, said he called two days before the move on our home telephone but did not leave a message (who does that?). Who can rebook with one or two day notice?
Day of move, no one there, then had to panic to get part of the move done. Should have paid attention to the review of others.

Wish I could give 0 stars.

If you would like to be treated like garbage, lied to and talked down to by egotistical people that have no grasp on what being a human is, definitely sign up with these people. Not one of them cares about you and they make that clear. And to ask a question related to your move and or belongings..don't even think about it.
I can't understand how they managed to find the same sort of disgusting human and have them all work under the same roof. Its unreal.
If you don't know how to treat people or being a normal, understanding person, work in a cereal box factory and shove toys in the boxes.
On top of the abusive treatment. My things didn't arrive until 6 weeks after they were picked up and a month after the delivery date I was told. I was under quoted by 1500. The minute they got my credit card for deposit, they did not care. You become a prisoner to their awful company who have your things hostage. It's a complete shock that they're even in business. They don't understand business or people nor care to. They are clearly commission based. I'm sure many people have threatened to take them to the news, BBB, police and court. The thing is, I've spoken with many upset customers, and have already gathered a ton of statements and 2 news stations in Canada want to cover their story. All this will do is make them burn faster than what they are already doing to themselves.
You should be ashamed of who you are as an organization and who you all are as people. Absolutely disgusting.
I haven't had the time to post my review until now but it looks like everyone else is speaking volumes about the same experiences. They're all similar stories. All these things happened to me too. So just letting anyone know who is considering hiring them, to let these reviews speak for you.

Professional Reliable Movers.

I have to say I was very concerned when I read some of the reviews on this site "after" I booked Canadian Reliable but my experience was exceptional!! The gentlemen (Ben and Zia) let me know when they would be arriving at the pick up point and also let me know when they were 10 minutes away from the drop off point. They were very polite and worked efficiently to get the truck unloaded. Everything arrived in tact and I am very please with the experience. I would highly recommend Canadian Reliable Vanlines……….I am not easy to please so giving them a 5 says a lot about my experience.

The worst!

If I could give a zero I would - the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Completely inconsiderate - added a $250 long carry fee that was never explained to me until they demanded payment the day before my scheduled delivery and once I paid they said I had to reschedule the delivery which I had moved work around for because they had already made the schedule for the next day. They told me my delivery would be there between 8-10am and then changed to 2-4pm last minute and when I called to request an earlier time yelled at me on the phone and told me to "just take the day off work". Unacceptable and entirely unprofessional. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

Move went flawlessly.

I laid down the $200 deposit for my move from Aurora to Wasaga Beach BEFORE I read any reviews on this company. After reading horror stories, I was somewhat worried as to what I had gotten into. Hmmm? Well, I got my day before the move confirmation phone call, as promised. The 2 guys and the truck showed up 5 to 10am, right on time. They worked diligently and with care. All my things to be moved were handled with care. They showed up in good time in Wasaga Beach and off loaded with the same care as the load. Paperwork was done by the side of the truck. Total move, including the $200 truck deposit was $870, considerably cheaper than most movers that charged as much as 30 cents per pound. I figured I saved approximately $400 over the competitors. I would recommend this company to anyone that is moving, short or long haul. Thanks for making my stressful moving day a great experience. Cheers!

Hilariously terrible.

The worst experience with any company ever. They changed the day and time of my move three times. On the third time, they called me less than 24 hours before the scheduled time to give me the option between moving it to two hours after they called or to a month later. When I told them that I couldn't make either work because I was working that evening (and had already rescheduled that shift twice because of them) and needed to be out of the apartment by the day after because new renters would be moving in then, they cancelled on me, yelled at me, and refused to give me my deposit back. I argued with them on the phone until I finally got them to agree to give it back. I was scrambling to find another mover in less than 24 hours. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received the deposit back, so I called them only to be told the refund had never been processed. Please for the love of all that is good in the world, DO NOT book them. It's not worth the lower price. You'd be better off hiring someone off of Kijiji.

Totally unreliable.

I feel like Devastating. such a terrible experience. I should had read the reviews before paying the deposit. They delivered my stuff 15 days late! charged me extra a couple of times for nonsense reasons! No wonder they received such terrible reviews.

They lured me by a fair quote then after pick up, they added to the price a couple of times and I had to pay to get my stuff delivered. Quote was initially $1150 for 2000lb, they chareged me $40 more because my load was 200lb less heavier!! I ended up paying more than the highest quote I received. At some point I thought they’re not going to deliver at all. I had to pay a lot of money to stay extra 15 days at a temporary place because of the delay. They are totally irresponsible after pick up. A highly unreliable company. Will never ever recommend them. I wish I could help more people not to fall into their trap. I ordered a moving to Greater Toronto Area and they charged me another $100 to deliver to Burlington which according to Wikipedia and other sources is in that area but I couldn’t convince them. Steven, their manager, said: No matter what you say, I won’t accept it. they also wanted to charge me extra for the steps they take from the building entrance to the unit. Unbelievable!!
