California New York Express

I've used this company several times and would recommend them to anybody making the move between New York and California. The customer service team is readily available and quick to attend to any issues. Most importantly, however, the movers themselves are excellent and efficient. They always arrived on time and got the job done right while helping me minimize or eliminate costs for extra items that I had neglected to list on the inventory. It's a company that goes out of its way to make the process easy and painless.

Coordinating a move across country is stressful enough, and the movers are the biggest component of that stress factor but with these guys it definitely is not!
The movers are friendly, respectful, answer questions and take their time explaining the process from start to finish. I had them pack my belongings to ensure they wouldn't break along the way and I am glad I did. Everything arrived in NYC in tip top shape. These guys are reasonably priced as well when you compare them to other long haul movers. I was shocked at how much less their quote was in comparison to others. If you are doing a cross country move this is the company to use hands down.

We found CA NY Express on a blog that was happy with them and so are we. They were super personal in the pre-moving process, explaining everything. To be honest, my wife and I didn't do the best job packing or with our inventory as we were doing it remotely and giving it our best guess. We didn't sign up for partial pack but the guys when they showed up quickly looked at what we had done, and explained the cheapest option. For us that was buying 3 wardrobe boxes and putting some of our loose stuff in those. They were fast and furious packing up and wrapping mattresses, art work and couches. Our stuff actually beat us back to LA because we were in Kansas City for the weekend. Our stuff was delivered on our first preferred day and nothing was broken including not one BUT TWO HUGE mirrored desks. We had just expected that they would be broken, but not even a crack! The best part is the estimate and the actual price were only $200 different, moving companies usually add all kinds of hidden fees when they show up and we hadn't done the best prep or inventory job so we were expecting $1000-$2000 over our estimate. We were super happy when $200 was the difference. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS!

This is my 2nd review, I wanted to give an update after I used them again. I highly recommend this moving company, evident from being a repeat customer. I didn't know they did moves to states outside of NY & Cali but if you look on their website they do hit a few other states. The company is really easy to deal with, all of my questions are always answered quickly. The guys who came to pickup our things were very professional and did an excellent job. Just be mindful that the quote they give you originally can fluctuate $500+ depending on how much stuff you actually have (vs what you put in your inventory list), how much packing supplies they use, and also if the distance they park the truck to your home is over so many feet they charge you a long haul fee. So just keep in mind that your quoted price will be less than you actually pay. All that being said, I would definitely use them again.

These guys were great. They were on-time, friendly, professional, and definitely knew what they were doing. My husband and I were nervous about moving all of our things from San Francisco to New York City, but the crew made sure all our belongings arrived on-time and in great condition. CA-NY Express were really fast too - they had our things to our new apartment in 8 days, which was 3x as fast as any moving company. When we called their customer service line for a status update on our move, the agent was very polite and gave me real-time updates. We felt well taken care of and important to the movers during the entire process.
CA-NY Express is definitely high value for cost. We will certainly be using the team again in the future if we ever move back to San Francisco. Thank you CA-NY Express for taking the stress out of a stressful event!

I love this company and would recommend them to anyone who needs to move from either LA or SF to the East coast. From the minute I found them on line they gave me great service and a great price to move several pieces of high end antique furniture to our family members on the East coast. They gave me a quote online and stuck to it. The guys who picked up the furniture were professional and thoughtful and skilled and the same was true of the guys who delivered it on the East Coast. The price was fair and lower than many other companies that I researched.
I strongly recommend this company to anyone who needs to move their belongings to the East Coast!

Moving an apartment of furniture cross-country by myself from New York to California was a daunting process. I compared prices between a number of moving companies and was impressed by the affordable rates provided by CANYX. Once I requested a quote, I began a line of communication with a very helpful customer service representative at the company, who promptly answered all and any questions I had via email and phone. After deciding to use CANYX, the process to organize my move went smoothly, with an easily accessible online inventory that I could update up to 72 hours before the move. I was also able to schedule the pickup and delivery dates with no problem, and I booked about a month in advance to my move.

On the day of the move, the movers arrived in the provided time frame and Ivan (I think!), the man I assumed to be in charge, went through everything with me beforehand and afterwards. He and his two other movers were all extremely polite and incredibly efficient, packing and wrapping everything carefully, and even dissembling a patio table.

After they left, I received frequent email updates informing me of the progression of the shipment, and in about week, my belongings were in California ready to be delivered. Because I hadn't moved yet, I authorized my roommate in Los Angeles to oversee the delivery, and she also reported to me that the movers were very friendly, quick, and efficient, and arrived during the designated window.

A cross-country move is incredibly stressful, and I am so grateful to CANYX for making it as painless and easy as possible!

This company is most definitely NOT recommended.  There were multiple communication problems from the start. After the booking was set up, they did not return phone calls timely.   The CA crew did a good job as they worked well together and had 4 workers - this is why my overall rating is 2 stars rather than 1 star. The tracking system the company uses in its advertising did not work at the beginning, and so I called to find out where my shipment was at various times, but calls were not returned only emails -but they were delayed. The shipment in MA was one day late and there were only two workers.  The guy in charge was very unfriendly and extremely unfit to move packages.  The other guy did most of the work and it was sad to see this. My biggest complaint is what they make you go through to get compensated for damages from items that arrived broken.  Even though I documented the damages on the "day of delivery" receipt and I emailed pictures of the damaged items the next day, they require this:     The claim MUST be NOTARIZED and sent to us via CERTIFIED MAIL - No other form of delivery will be accepted.      -what a rooked system to require customers to do all that when it was documented and recorded by their own workers on day of delivery.  This sort of rule was created surely to discourage anyone from filing any claims.  Unbelieveable!   .

Avoid California New York Express at all costs. I am going out of my way to let people know how bad this company treated me so others don't get ripped off like I was. My experience with California New York express: 1. They give you as little notice as possible. The contract says 24-48 hours before arrival, within a vague span of 15 days. They will call you at the last possible minute, barely 24 hours away from their arrival. If you aren't ready, prepare for enormous extra charges.  2. $1,000   extra charge if you can't take delivery in the slim 3-hour window they give you at the last minute. Boulder was flooded when they arrived the first time, my assistant couldn't take delivery for me, in the extremely narrow timespan I was not available. 3. Breaching their own contract: They will demand payment before they re-deliver, despite going against the contract you'll sign which says you pay half up front and half upon delivery. They will refuse to move your goods until you cough up the extra $1,000, and meanwhile they will charge you for storage while they withhold your stuff.4. Your boxes will be extremely battered and damaged upon delivery. 5. Hidden and Extra Charges. They will arrive in a gigantic 18-wheeler and, if your residential street cannot accommodate that, they will charge you a "shuttle charge" of several hundred dollars to deliver your stuff. This is not mentioned anywhere in the contract or the website e-signature you'll sign. They warn you about long delivery charges, stair charges, and multiple addresses. The "shuttle charge" is never mentioned. But they will stick you for it. Average shuttle charge for ~450 cubic feet of stuff is $350. 6. Boxes, Blankets, and Tape. They use an obscene amount of packing materials to coat your stuff and they will charge you for every roll. 7. Final Bill will be written up by foreign movers who barely speak English. When they present you with overcharges of about $200, they will call their home office, mutter something vague, and they will make you "sort it out with the company" later if you want some kind of refund.I can't say enough negative things about this company.

I moved from NY to SF a month ago and used California New York Express Moving, based on friends' recommendations. They were fantastic. 
 
The quote was substantially lower than other companies (I priced them out against 5 other groups), and the service was excellent. For a small NY studio, the move cost me $1200. Incredibly efficient, pleasant experience. CA-NY Express will hold your things at origin for free for a month. Upon shipping, you can track the entire move online and they offer cash back for days late.
 
Moving is a total hassle no matter what, but CA-NY Express certainly made it a lot easier.
