Brooklyn Moving

FBI should be looking into this company.

We got them from Brokerage company and didn't have time to properly research Brooklyn Moving. As a result our items arrived one month late and 10% of them were missing, including furniture peaces(!). It looks like they only have one lady in customer support and she immediately starts screaming on you for complaining, probably because she is already tired of all the complains.

Overall, it feels like company is ran by Sopranos and

this why I think FBI should look into them.

Is one star the minimum? It’s too many! “Useless” as my wife says after our many phone calls.

We had a shipment of 19 home furniture items delivered betweenSanFrancisco and Minneapolis by Brooklyn Movers in 2021. When the shipment (2 months belatedly) arrived, 3 items (including a good sofa) were missing. This was noted on the paperwork signed upon delivery.

We filed a claim for the missing items as required. It seems, however, that Brooklyn “doesn’t have” the delivery paperwork so the claims company (a separate story in itself) says they can’t substantiate the claim. This means, should items not be delivered, intentionally or unintentionally, all that needs to happen is for the paperwork to disappear and there’s no proof and no compensation! This is a great scam as our claim is now denied for lack of paperwork, that Brooklyn has failed to provide.

You would think that this has happened before and procedures would be in place to address this problem. I guess there is a procedure— deny, deny, and not respond.

Items were delayed, and some broken. Some boxes looked like they went through a war. 3 months after filing my claim (got full insurance thankfully) I am still waiting to get the claim processed. READ THAT CONTRACT very carefully and know everything is written to favor them. The included insurance is useless and if you want to buy full insurance they assign the value based on weight and charge a premium based on that, not the actually value of the items. My items were valued at most 10k, but i was forced to buy 18k worth of coverage cause of the weight. When it comes time for a claim, they point you to the insurance company and you will never hear from them again...cause lets be honest they don't care anymore. What was also surprising, after delays in getting my items delivered, communication is poor, and on top of that when the truck finally arrived, the "movers" were two individuals the driver found on Craigslist to help unload and move into the apartment. I had to keep track of damages as boxes were being unloaded, keep track if any are missing, etc.... driver and movers just unloaded and took off. I thought i hired brooklyn moving company not some folks from Craigslist to unload. Unfortunately brooklyn was assigned to me via a broker so didn't have a chance to look into them prior, but if you are reading this and didn't sign any contracts, look elsewhere, not worth the headache.

Using this company was extremely stressful for my elderly parents. There were added hidden moving fees that we didn’t find out until the movers came to pick up the car. The furniture was well packed but when the furniture arrived to our city, the driver called and threatened to dump our belongings on the side of the road if we didn’t give him an address right away (our home closing got delayed and the company agreed to store the furniture; the driver was supposed to take our belongings to the storage area). The movers demanded we pay them cash upfront and would not unload our belongings unless we paid them first. Once we paid them, they threw our belongings into the driveway from the truck. All of the furniture, which was real wood, over 20 years old, and in excellent condition, was scratched or broken. The end of our wooden French style dinning table cracked completely off. All the wooden arms broke were they attached to the seat. All of the legs had wood gouges. Some of the furniture completely broke and we just had to throw it in the dumpster. They were only insured for $0.60 to the dollar and only gave us $500-600 back after thousands of dollars in damage. My parents are retired now and can’t afford new furniture. This was supposed to be a happy moment to move near family and retire and this moving experience was so stressful, it took months for my parents to recover and calm down. We would never use this company again.
