Long-distance move from California to Washington DC

BLVD Moving shipped another client's belongings across the US

Do not use this company - they shipped another client's belongings across the entire country instead of mine! I wish I could give this company negative stars.

The items were picked up in Orange, CA on 11/13/21 for delivery in DC. The delivery window is within 21 business days of pick up. But when we checked in to see if the items were on their way, BLVD Moving said that the clock had not started yet. The clock began on 11/20/21. Note: the company only counts business days towards the delivery countdown and subsequent penalty on their end even though they physically deliver on the weekends.

On 12/27/21 (24 business days & 37 full days later), I was told that my items would be arriving between 12/31-1/3. Around 12/30, I was told that my items would now be delivered on 1/8/22-1/9/22 because of snowstorms across the Midwest. I was disappointed but I had a lot of empathy for those truckers working so hard over the holiday combined with the Omicron wave.

I purchased a $55 parking permit for 1/8 and 1/9. I was assured on the morning of 1/7 that the delivery was on time. I got a call at 8pm that night that the truck driver would not arrive until Monday 1/10. I couldn't apply for a new permit so I had to pray the city wouldn't ticket me.

On Monday 1/10 (32 business days & 51 full days later), the mover arrived. I stood in my apartment as they brought in the mattress. I looked at the mattress and my heart sank. "That's not my mattress." "Yes, it is." "No, it's not. That's a king. I own a queen." I went downstairs with the mover and he opened the back of the truck. IT WAS NOT MY BELONGINGS. The 2 movers began pulling things out and asking if they were mine, which they were not. But a bar code with my father's name was on all of the items! They called the front desk & 5 minutes later I got a call - "How do you know it is not your stuff?" "Were you there the day they loaded your things?" The company was immediately shifting the blame onto me! My parents were there the day the items were loaded and almost all of the items had a homemade tag of my name, phone number, and Washington D.C. Omar called me back soon after & asked me to give him an hour to figure out what was going on. I felt numb and violated - having no idea if ALL of my worldly belongings were lost!

Omar called back to let me know that my belongings were in their warehouse. On the day of pickup, the original mover had switched the tags between my job & another person's job. When the items arrived at the facility, there is no checking system to ensure the tags are correct. No cross-reference with the item checklist. My items include a large cat tree, but the items tagged with my name included weights and a stationary bike. No one noticed when unloading or reloading the trucks. Omar told me this was the first time something like this had happened. But when I said, "I need you to be with my items as they are loaded into the truck because I fear not everything will make it." He replied, "There are so many things to fear in the world. This shouldn't be one of them." The audacity!!! His company literally shipped someone else's belongings across the continental United States & he chose to be condescending at that moment?!

I was told I would know on 1/12 when my delivery would be. I wasn't told until 1/24. I received a photo of my items being loaded. The driver left on 1/25. On 1/29, my items arrived in Washington, D.C.. BLVD Moving didn't even update the tags/barcodes to my information! It still has the tag of the other person whose things were originally delivered to me.

BLVD Moving's guarantee for this distance delivery is 21 business days. My clock began on 11/20/21. That would make delivery due on 12/22/21. I waited 38 full days AFTER my delivery date. $30 off per business day from 12/22/21, but no discount beyond that.

My experience was not an accident - this is indicative of how BLVD Moving operates. They are unprofessional, unorganized, and should be out of business.

Long-distance move from Santa Cruz, CA to Quincy, MA

BEWARE

The moving team showed up unprepared for the job. The lead, Freddy, wasn't aware they were showing up for a full move and seemed annoyed that they were there for a bigger job. The areas he packed himself looked great when I unpacked but the boxes packed by the other 2 people were completely careless and also stole valuable items. I had called the day after the pack to ask why they showed up not knowing what they were there for as well as let them know I was disappointed in the state things were left. Empty tape rolls were literally everywhere along with their personal messes left behind. Plus I was now being charged for more expensive boxes that I didn't want because they would weigh too much to move myself once at my final destination. The manager David completely dismissed my concerns and told me to conserve my frustrations because it could get so much worse if they lose or break my things. Once it began to feel like there could be retaliation against airing my concerns I hung up.

Fast forward to 3 weeks later and most of my furniture arrived damaged. Legs were missing and/or broken off of multiple pieces of furniture, my boxspring was completely missing, my mattress ruined. They also took my power tools, valuable jewelry and some family heirlooms.

I'm currently going through a claim process but will never get back the emotionally valuable items that were irreplaceable.

Long-distance move from Oceanside, CA to Columbus, OH

DO NOT USE FOR MILITARY MOVE

This company promised me my weight tickets because I need them to be reimbursed by the Marine Corps. They didn’t get me my weight ticket with all my stuff loaded on the vehicle and upon asking for it they just said we don’t have it. They essentially just forgot even though I was told by the movers that they have to weigh my stuff an hour after they get it loaded onto the truck. That was a full on lie or they just don’t care about their job and what they are doing. I have called this company over a dozen times in the last 2 months and I just keep getting told sir I’ll get back to you. I am very polite but a person only has so much patience. I am currently in the process of suing if I will not get a refund because I paid to have those weight tickets given to me and they were not.

Long-distance move from San Bernardino, CA to Syracuse, NY

A Horror Story

As a recent customer of Blvd Moving, I feel compelled to share my experience to inform and caution others. I am a veteran who recently transitioned out of the military and secured employment with a defense contractor in Syracuse, NY. For my relocation from California to New York, I chose Blvd Moving, attracted by their initial reasonable quote.

However, the moving process turned out to be fraught with unethical practices and extortionate demands:

Misleading Initial Quote: The moving process began with a seemingly fair quote of around $5,000. However, this drastically changed post-loading of my belongings. The final bill was inflated to approximately $15,000 – nearly three times the original quote.

Inflated Charges and Fabricated Volume: The company unjustly inflated the moving costs by claiming additional volume and adding bogus fees. Despite reducing the number of items to be moved significantly (donating 65% of my belongings), the company charged for 662 additional cubic feet at an inflated rate.

Unethical Practices and Coercion: The moving team employed various tactics that seemed aimed more at benefiting themselves than assisting in the move. They showed interest in the items I had set aside for donation, creating confusion and disorder. Furthermore, they dismantled appliances without properly securing them, causing a water leak and leaving a door unhinged.

Hostile and Aggressive Communication: Post-move, the company's communication turned hostile. They bombarded me with daily calls and messages, threatening to auction off my belongings if I did not pay the exorbitant fees, including fabricated storage and redelivery charges.

Impact on Personal Life: This ordeal has significantly impacted my personal life. Essential documents and belongings are still in the company's possession, hindering my ability to settle in my new home and causing immense stress and inconvenience.

Lack of Transparency and Professionalism: The movers did not provide essential information as required by federal regulations, including the “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move” booklet. The bill of lading also contained incorrect information, adding to the confusion.

My goal in sharing this experience is not only to express my frustration but also to urge others who might have faced similar issues with Blvd Moving to come forward. Collective voices can better highlight the company's practices and serve as a warning to potential customers.
