I scheduled a move Monday September 14th, 2015 with this company. I then saw their reviews rating ( 3.1 stars ) and called back to talk to Amanda to discuss their rating and got no answer, I left a message to please call me back ASAP no one called back. I called again Tuesday the 15th 4 times and got no answer, left 3 voice mails to please call me back. No one ever called me back. It is now Wednesday September the 16th and I have called all their listed phone numbers and am getting a message that this persons voice mail is not set up. Amanda said they would email me the contract but they haven't even done that. I called a different company to move me needless to say. I will be going to their office Monday to make sure they don't charge my credit card and that they don't just show up on my moving day sense I can't get a hold of them on the phone to cancel with them.

Service cost: $500

It all started with the salesman lying through his teeth. Despite knowing our time constraints he flat out lied and said they had a load heading up north the day the furniture would be picked up with room for our items. The furniture sat here for 10 days before being moved. Dealing with this company was about as bad as any I have dealt with in my entire life. They have 800 numbers no one answers. They leave messages to call the 800 numbers than no one picks up. They cannot even keep their billing straight and it took numerous phone calls to get it right. Again their mistakes not mine. They left pieces of the headboard at our house rather than packing them. If I had not noticed the bed would not have been able to be put together. You are better off moving stuff yourself than using this company. .

We hired Big Boys Moving and Storage of Tampa Florida for our retirement move. What was supposed to be the happiest time of our lives has left us distressed beyond words. The move began with the company sending a 24 foot UHaul truck with a magnet on the side drivers door with Big Boys Moving and Storage. The truck had to make 2 trips to Tampa to the storage unit. Once this company received payment to storage we complained and they told us to find someone else to move us out of storage. We had to hire another company. Upon moving us out of storage the movers and us were horrified at what we saw. Big Boys movers had taken our sleep number bed barely covered it with plastic never had the experience to put it in a Mattress box. The air chambers were broken. We've been in our new retirement home now 6 weeks and have not slept in our bed. Did you ever hear of movers placing dining room chairs on top of a table without pads. Our beautiful dining room set had huge cuts and scrapes all over the table & chairs. There are numerous items that have been damaged beyond belief. Over our 43 years of marriage we moved from NY to Pittsburgh Pa..to Boston Ma..to Spartanburg SC..to Florida with several moving companies and never ever have we experienced a nightmare of a move like this one with Big Boys Moving and Storage of Tampa.

I read a lot of reviews on moving companies and have always put more weight with Google reviews than Yelp, but was carefully optimistic in choosing a provider. I initially chose Big Boys Moving due to Brian Prestridge. He was very quick to respond back from a form submission, answered my questions and more importantly gave me a fair estimate which I though was honestly to go to be true…. since a 5BR quote was what I
considered A LOT OF STUFF! My move was up in the air a bit with a couple dates and Brian was able to set my expectations properly, make my stresses subside a bit. There was confusion on my part thinking boxes were included, but Brian let me know that Lowe’s / HD had wide array of boxes that were inexpensive, so the adventure began in packing the house.

A few days later Susan Anderson sent me a reservation confirmation and set forth the same quote that Brian
confirmed with me which also included a standard Terms and Conditions agreement.

The day of the move their team had a morning appointment that ran roughly two hours bleeding into my time, however it allowed me to get some things situated better for them, so it wasn’t too much of a hassle, but I was concerned that the guys would lose a lot of daytime. My concerns started to set in roughly about this time…, however their office called me at 10:42 to let me know it would be closer to 12:30 and then Frank called me again at 1:03 to let me know the guys were on the way.

Communication is key and with an already stressful time it went a long way in the process! Nelson and Rodney showed up
around 1:30 and quickly did their due-diligence process of what they were moving. The WOW you’ve got a lot more than what we expected were stated and that the job was BIG. They quickly situated the truck, began loading and never looked back. 2x 24’ truck loads from my 5BR with no stairs to a 4BR with spiraled stair case with some of the heaviest stuff you can imagine they banged everything out by 8:30!

This was the first time I've used a moving service and was blown away by Nelson and Rodney! Although how did Nelson grow up in NY and root for the Chicago Bulls and not the Knicks….is baffling! They not only made my 5BR move as
quoted, but made it enjoyable. Both of the guys were fun to be around, joked with my kids and dealt with really heavy furniture up two flights of stairs without a scratch. I was very happy with my experience, would recommend them highly to friends, family and co-workers. I can honestly say any reviews that are negative in nature found on Yelp and some other places should be questioned for legitimacy. Have no fear with Big Boys Moving and Storage (Tampa Bay location) Thank Nelson and Rodney!

I spoke with Amanda at the moving company to schedule a move on 10/8/2016 for a few items that I needed help. The drivers showed up to my surprise with a Uhaul truck, I was under the impression they had their own supplies based on the website images and video where they say “with our trucks all over Tampa Bay”. The Florida Manager, Frank, arrived with them and introduced himself and provided a card in case I needed anything. After being quoted $337 to move I was expecting better.
The movers had everything done within the two hours. When I was paying I was asked for a cash tip and to give a positive review on Google. I thought it was rude to ask for a cash tip but I wasn’t able to accommodate and put it on my card. They thanked me, gave me the receipt and I went inside. When I went back out to get items from my car I noticed a dent in the driver door. The movers had hit it while leaving and didn’t say anything. I am unable to open the door, it is completely pushed in. I attempted to call Frank at 757-513-7739 but it went straight to voicemail. I called the office and spoke with Brian who informed me he couldn’t do anything and was the only one in the office. He explained that he would attempt to get ahold of Frank and to email him the pictures of the car to sales@bigboymoving.com (which I did at 12:35pm). I finally spoke with Frank who instructed me to take the car to a shop, let me know what the price is going to be so he could put it on his credit card and take it out of the boys check. I told him I did not feel comfortable with that and was already on the phone with our insurance and the police. We spoke with the Uhauls claims department at 800-528-7134. I spoke with Frank again to let him know what we were doing and requested a refund of at least my tip which was $50.00. We were not able to complete anything until Monday. On Tuesday we finally connected with the Uhaul claims department who explained the procedure.
I expected a call from Big Boys Moving Company but they did not call. I called on Tuesday to find out the status of the issue and what the company was going to do. I spoke Amanda who stated I would need to speak with Susan Anderson. I requested to have her call me but I didn’t hear anything, so I called back. I spoke with Susan who was under the impression that everything was cleared up Saturday. I stated that it was not and I was not happy that I would be out of a car for an extended period of time due to the insurance policy procedure and requested a full refund of $337 for the inconvenience and lack of customer service. I also found out that I would have to pay out of pocket for the repairs until the insurance sent a check back. Susan was more concerned with the car being out of commission for an extended period of time than the fact their movers hit my car. She spoke in circles. We ended our conversation and I received an email stating that they would have more information for me the next day.
I ended up calling back on Wednesday 10/12/2016 because I had not heard for them and the Uhaul claims department called and informed us that Frank was denying any involvement. After speaking with Susan and Frank I found out that because my partner and I do not share the same last name there was some confusion. I requested for Frank to call the Uhaul claims department to clear up the matter. I requested a full refund again and she said that she was not able to approve it, and I requested to speak with someone who could. Susan explained that the owners of the company pay her to talk to people so they do not have to. I informed her that I was doing research on the company and found many complaints and that I would really like to speak with someone about my experience. She stated that anyone can go online and write a report and that she was having a bad time on the phone with me she should go online and write bad comments about me. I decided that was the last straw and said I would be contacting someone else to help me through the process.

Service cost: $337

I would never, ever recommend this moving company. I was given a time for delivering my furniture and personal belongings of between 12pm and 2pm on 7 / 23 / 2016. Long story short, I finally received my stuff at 9:15pm and they finally left shortly after midnight. None of my furniture, including my flat screen TV was wrapped with protective blankets or plastic. 90% of my furniture has scratches, gouges and even my solid oak headboard was severely damaged. I filled a complaint with Frank, the manager including pictures of the damaged furniture. It has been over a week since I spoke to him after he asked that I give him a few days to respond. Still not a word but they gladly took my money, which was more than the original quote. One of the delivery guys even told me that he was on his way home when he got a call to go back to the warehouse and load my stuff and deliver it! This place is a ripoff! STAY AWAY FROM BIG BOYS MOVING AND STORAGE!

Outstanding customer service from A to Z. Brian provided a fair quote and went out of his way to ensure that the move was scheduled prior to the arrival of TS Hermine.

Scott and Terell were friendly, efficient and super polite. They took great care of ensuring that despite the torrential downpours that all of the furniture was delivered safely and set up as requested.

I highly recommend this company and the moving team of Scott and Terell.

We just moved this weekend, and we couldn't have done it without Robert H. & Cameron from Big Boys!

The whole experience was terrific. I received a written quote from Amanda, which other companies did not provide without a home visit. She followed up while I decided what company to use and gave me criteria to look for with their competitors. She offered us a discount because my husband is a veteran.

The day of the move, Robert H. & Cameron arrived on time and got straight to work. They were extremely polite and efficient. They had to endure the stairs at our old place, but they didn't complain about it once. We were not as ready as we could've been, but they worked with us and around us while we finished our packing.

At the new site, they unloaded everything and made sure to inquire about where items were to be placed (we moved a lot of stuff to different rooms). They congratulated us on our new home and seemed genuinely excited for us.

We finished our entire move in a little less than 5 hours, and that was impressive! Their efficiency helped us stay on budget.

I would recommend Big Boys to everyone!

My second experience using Big Boy Movers was Nothing like the First. This time they showed up late, workers moved very slowly, taking way too much time shrink wrapping everything- even and old couch. One worker needed Advil for his headache, complaining that they worked a 15 hour day previously..They broke my grandmothers vintage dresser mirror, and then had the nerve to charged us for an extra hour ($109) based on 10 minutes overage. I made many and lengthy attempts to resolve my disputes with the company without satisfaction. Worst movers I've ever used. DO NOT use this company !!

This was by far the worst experience ever with a business. Big Boy movers was supposed to be at my home at noon they showed up at 6 at night tge movers were exhausted from working already a full day.I had no choice but to use them because I had to move that day I had the reservation and place in 3 weeks in advance. There wasn't one piece of furniture that didn't have some kind of Mark on it from the move two pieces of furniture were actually broken. I had temporarily rented a residence becauseI sold my home everything in there was moved by another company which took only 3 hours this move with them took 7 hours that I was billed for the company was unmoving on adjusting my bill reimbursing me for broken Furniture was horrible customer service actually nasty to deal with I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone a bunch of thugs.

Big Boys Moving once again made our move seem easy and again it went stress free. After hearing great things about them back in 2016 this was actually the second time that we have used them. I didn't take the time to write a review the first time. Because of their fantastic service on our first experience we never thought twice to try anyone else. They certainly earned our repeat business. They're well known in Tampa as a reputable, family run business. They were straight forward with pricing and considerate in every way. If you want a professional move don't waste your time looking around there's only one call to make and its to Big Boys.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $500

I am reciting the facts of my move, so other Tampa area consumers can make an informed decision about one of the companies.

I scheduled a move of a 2 bedroom apartment, which 2 people live in. One bedroom was unfurnished aside from two small bookshelves. The entire move of 37 miles took just over 12 hours, being billed at an hourly rate. Twelve hours, for a 2 bedroom apartment. Both apartments were third floor units.

The movers arrived in a rented Uhaul truck, not the branded trucks pictured repeatedly on the website. They proceeded to carry small to medium boxes, 1-2 at a time up and down the stairs, not using any of the equipment they had.

I witnessed them stand outside their truck and have a conversation with the apartment maintenance staff about the shoes one of the movers was wearing.

I witnessed one of the movers not be present for periods of time, and then would be walking over from the next building, the opposite direction of the truck. The billing, again, was an hourly rate.

They tried to tell us the last large item wouldn't fit in the truck, so they couldn't take it. When they actually were told to take it downstairs, it fit easily.

At the unload site they said their boss didn't realize it was a third floor move, so they weren't prepared, and what is why it was taking so long. A communication from and to their company beforehand indicates third floor.

At the "completion" of the unload, the movers departed with the following not completed: Dining room table not reassembled, multiple pieces of furniture still wrapped in moving blankets, feet were not reinstalled on couch.

We had provided a dozen bottles of cold water for them at each location, and found them thrown on the ground in the stairwell outside the new apartment.

I attempted to contact Big Boys during the move to express my concerns, but only received recorded messages about how busy they were. I emailed them on the moving day, with no response. On moving day +5, I contacted them via phone, was was informed they only correspond via email. That day I did recieve an email stating they had "requested copies of all documentation so that I can respond to all the matters brought to my attention."

I emailed asking for a follow up 7 days later, on moving day +12. No response.

I called asking for a follow up the next day on moving day +13, with no response. I called once more and did have the opportunity to discuss the problems with a company representative.

She was dismissive from the beginning repeatedly referring to the "black and white" of the contract. I asked if she was willing to give me any accommodation for the problems, which she was not.

I explained I would be forced to relay the facts of my move wherever possible. She responded by informing me she "has Google too" and can write what she wants. I asked her if she was threatening me, and she said it was her "Constitutional right" to say what her opinion of me was online.

Please consider this experience when choosing a mover. I have moved 3 times in the last 7 years, and this is the longest experience by time. It is also easily the most expensive.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1900

When I chose Big Boys Moving, they quoted me for 3-5 hours worth of moving at 139.00 plus a 99.00 surcharge for gas, etc. The movers took an hour lunch break plus several smoke breaks and ended up charging us for 8 hours plus added gratuity. When I called to address the issue, I was told to write an email. I wrote a professional email using my school email address and they reported me to my school saying I harassed them. The dispute officer from my school contacted me and simply said there was nothing wrong with the email I sent, just not to use the school email for personal use. I am humiliated and feel completely wronged by this company. I called to ask Susan why she would have reported me to my school and she repeatedly hung up on me saying she can't speak to me over the phone.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1500

This is not a company who stands by what they tell you to get your business. In fact, they resort to screaming at you on the phone when you have a discrepancy with the final bill. I will say the movers themselves are exceptional and we have no problems with their performance or how they treated us. However, the office staff is a different story. I wont mention names, as I do not want to make this personal. But we were yelled at by office staff when we tried to get our bill rectified. We were promised free travel charges and no hidden fees - all sent via email and in writing. Our estimate more than doubled. They charged us for travel charges and the "specials" they gave us, including $100 off that you may see on their website, is a scam to get you in there. After the fact, they tell you that the "Reduced" their hourly fee from $149 to $129 which is so much more than other movers charge, to begin with. Even though we provided emails showing their empty promises, they still will not refund the travel charges, despite filing a BBB review. All they do is argue and they simply do not care about you once they have your business. Again, the movers are great and they deserve 5 stars based on the actual moving experience. The billing and office staff, is another story. If you use them, just be aware of hidden fees and travel charges and anything they verbally promise you.

The movers were fantastic, polite and fast! I wish I had been using these guys my whole life, it would have cut down on a LOT of stress with all my moves. I will DEFINITELY be choosing them when my lease is up next year! I'm so happy I finally found someone I could trust to move my important belongings, they even got my baby grand with no issue. These boys really were big! Shelby in the office is a great, personable lady who was happy to help me get scheduled, work with me on my date, and accommodate all my ridiculous questions without getting frustrated. In fact, she even told me to call back with any other questions, which I hope she didn't regret! GO WITH BIG BOYS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $796

If you think your belongings are secure, you are wrong! Your stuff is stored in an ancient pod out in the heat of day, that is secure with a single rusty lock that can easily be broken. There are holes in the floor of the pod that are patched with broken cardboard. Anyone can walk in at anytime, and the place is hardly ever staffed. The pods aren't even secured by a locked gate. Not only will these people steal your money and over charge you, but they damage your belongings, and their storage units are rat filled; the place is just awful! I wish I had taken pictures when I was just there. I had a horrible experience. I was told that I was getting a deal, the movers were there for 3 hours, one hour spend chit-chatting; then I was charged for 5 hours. Allegedly, it took them 2 hours to put my stuff in storage units, but they can't actually prove how long it took. For all I know, the movers had 5 more guys waiting at the loading area and it took all of 10 minutes, but they charged me for 2 hours to make more money. What a scam this place is.

RUN the other way and don't use these crooks! I wonder who they are paying to have 4 stars because it is definitely NOT Big BOYS. Their customer service, moving service, and everything else is the absolute WORST I have ever encountered. They charged my credit card MORE THAN WAS AUTHORIZED and refused to refund it, my credit card company had to take matters into their own hands for these crooks! OVER $1,000 for a one bedroom one bath less than a eighth of a mile away!! THEY SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. The problem is you don't know until it is too late!! Go somewhere else and find a reputable company, not these people.

If you are going to claim to be the top movers out there, then you should be able to back it up with great customer service. NO one is perfect but your ability to compensate for imperfections goes along way. Particularly when you are dealing with customers who are moving,which is innately a very challenging process in one's life. These movers significantly overcharged us and did not put together our furniture properly causing us to have to spend an additional 2 hours rebuilding it. They only supplied us with 2 movers and we clearly needed 3 , This is a strategy they use to overcharge you because at over $100 per hour with only 2 helpers can run you over 10 hours if you are not careful. The movers were polite and careful but I think they were overworked and tired. Guess who has to pay for that.. US! They took super long and made lots of mistakes in putting together our furniture because they were tired. Shelby suggested we should have stopped them once we noticed they were exhausted to prevent the extra hours of charges.. This is not a suitable solution and as such she gets 1 star for customer service and her inability to challenge herself as it pertains to how she managed the allocation of helpers for the job costing us over 500 more than initially quoted The move was less than 1 mile away and we paid 1000! That is insane. I would never use this Company again. NEVER EVER!

I’ve moved serval times, but this was the 1st time using Big Boys Moving. What an awesome company to work with!! From getting everything scheduled with Shelby, to the 2 work horses, Alex and Justin who came to actually move me. These guys moved my things so effortlessly, quick and careful. Very polite and professional group of people to deal with at a time when my stress level was thru the roof. I highly recommend them for your moving needs, it won’t be anytime soon, but when (and if) I ever move again, I know exactly who I’ll be calling to help me!! Awesome job Shelby, Alex and Justin!!
