Horrible experience.

I had a horrible experience with this company. They took 3 hours to pick up my furniture (1 bedroom condo) with me helping them. They called 6 times to change the time for drop off and to ask me to change the elevator booking time, which I repeatedly told them I can't. They delivered half of my stuff broken.

The most deceptive moving company out there.

They lied (Agent Maria Lauro) about deposit and refund policies.

Stay away from Atlantic Van Lines.

Long-distance move from North Bay, ON to Vancouver, BC

Zero stars. Run away.

Seriously. Run. Don’t walk. Get away from these guys ASAP. I had actually read a couple of bad reviews.. but a lot of moving companies have bad reviews. It’s easy to write them off as “angry people who complain about everything”. I figured, happy people don’t wrote reviews after a move. I got a whole bunch of quotes, and not only was Atlantic van lines one of the best quotes (seemingly thourough, all fees upfront-even after I specifically asked about some, not super expensive, but not the cheapest) but I genuinely felt like the best customer service came from them. I felt really well informed and supported by the office staff, they always answered questions right away, and seemed to know their stuff.
Nope. Just good sales people I guess.
The movers were atrocious. They were nice, but they weren’t careful with my things, and the home we were moving out of needed to have the hallway and stairway repainted from all the scrapes. One spot, I actually had to re plaster because of a big hole from one of the guys dropping something down the stairs. Awesome. But at that point, what do I do? Say “no thanks, I’ll find another cross country mover with no notice”?! We had to go. I had sold the house and we were flying out in the morning. It was incredibly stressful.
The move itself took a week longer than quoted.
Whatever. Stuff happens. I’m actually a pretty understanding person.
Then it got bad.
When I received my things, virtually everything was broken. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it truly is not.
I had bought brand new heavy duty moving boxes, wrapped everything in bubble wrap, packed things extremely well, and made sure nothing was too heavy. I figured, with the boxes travelling across four provinces, better to be safe.
Once they were delivered, not ONE of the boxes could be reused. That’s how badly they were damaged. Holes, rips, wet.. just trashed. Much of the stuff in boxes was fine, but many things were dented or broken.
Four boxes were missing.
A ladder was missing
A small, very special, one-of-a-kind table from Thailand that I hauled across the world with me was missing.
Every piece (that sounds exaggerated, but I literally mean EVERY piece) that was not in a box, is somehow damaged.
Three beds broken to the point of being unusable without a trip to the hardware store.
A large, beautiful lamp, trashed..scrapes, a glass piece missing (probably shattered and gone I’m guessing), the whole thing is bent.
Scrapes on everything.
Dents on everything.
Wood furniture pieces split.
A bookshelf was muddy (how??!) and two shelves on it were broken.
A large play kitchen missing one whole bottom side.
Two pieces of art, beyond repair.
A couch that now bends in the middle so zero people can sit on it comfortably. Great.
A very special 150 year old antique dresser, scratched along the whole front.
An almost-new leather recliner that sits crooked now and can’t rock because of it.
The couple pieces that we had that was made of particle board (like, IKEA stuff, for example) had fallen apart. Actually apart.
I could go on for soooo long.
All of these large non-boxed items THEY wrapped and packed for me. And certainly not for free.
I have a nice house. I buy nice things. I treat my things well. I’m good with tools, and my things are built and maintained properly.
I’m absolutely heartbroken over these things. I know that they are just things.. and I’m focusing on the fact that all the people were moved safe and sound. But man oh man.. I hate that my things are all wrecked. I miss my lovely home.
I tried to file an insurance claim. The amazing customer service staff were suddenly out of the office a lot. And since things were insured by the pound (uggggh) it just wasn’t worth it anyway. One of the pieces of art that was wrecked cost $1800. It was a very special gift that my husband and I bought for each other. It weighed about half a pound. So I could have received 30 cents for it.
I would have been better off selling all of my things and just buying new at our new home. Unfortunately, that would cost far more than we have, so now I live in a house full of broken stuff. I’m still unpacking, and every day I find something new that is going from the box to the garbage dump. :(
Horrendous.

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Atlantic van lines review.

I would not move with this company.
they seemed to have good reviews on the internet and the quote they offered was very nice. they initially had really good customer service, prompt answering of emails and phone calls. then it all went downhill.

they lost 4 boxes. and I never heard back from them despite repeat emails and phone calls. they showed up at the new place with 2 items that weren't ours.
also, they quoted 7-10 days to delivery our stuff - but it didn't show up till about 3 weeks later.
there was some mild damage to some furniture. more worrisome was the lost stuff.
don't move with this company!

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Ontario

A Nightmare.

They are pleasent on the phone first time you call just to get you but once you sign with them the nightmare begins. my pick up was 4 hours late and the quote they gave me was 700 but I was charged 3000. I am sure they lie about the weight of your items NoWay my items were almost 3000 lb for a one junior bedroom not even including a bed set. if you ask to rescale at your presence its a 300 charge approximately and they say if they are 200 lb over or under then its ok. you do the math they have 200 lb room for error at 55-60 cents a lb plus you loose your 275 rescalling. the delivery was late and in the process I had written them 27 e mails just to be clear on things since they are extremely VAGUE that is because they have lots to hide. Once I got my items all were damaged even though I took extra time to bubble wrap and cover pretty much all of my items( even the mover told me excellent job on packing) but somehow they still managed to give my items back in terrible condition. They NEVER return a phone call neverrrrr everytime I called they said owner is away not in town or always bz on the phone . in 2 month not even a return call. e mails are always late reply you write them with 3 questions they answer to one in a very vauge manner. I have missing bagggggs and it takes 4-6 weeks to put a claim in . still no reply even though the 6 weeks is up. so many hidden charges and I had to pay close attention to billing since they had charged me with few extra services as if .. dooonnnttttttttt use this companyyyyyyyy at alllllll or you be ssssssoooorrrrryyyyy!!

Dont use them, they don't Care for you, your belongings or your home.

They don't care for you or your belongings, or your home. We requested the pickup and the delivery guys to remove their shoes and they made a face and refused to remove them made the old and the new home dirty and had to call cleaners to have the house cleaned, the guys are not friendly at all. customer service does not exist and they don't care for their customers. We were promised that the charges include "Room to Room" service and also includes dis-assembly and the guys refused to deliver some of the heavy items to our room, left it in the garage, when we complained to the customer service they were rude and did not care. do not recommend them even if they provide moving service for free.

Absolutely awful.

I don't know if this place is a complete scam or just a horrendous business. Gave them my money and all of my possessions and the truck and the company is nowhere to be found. No one answers the phones or calls me back, the truck has not showed up two weeks later and their website is down. Everything I own.

Don't use Atlantic Van Lines.

Make yourself a service and do not trust your bellongigs to this company if you are not prepared for everything to go wrong:
1. they lie to get your business with a low quote to find yourself getting a bill three times the quote
2. due to rough handling and improper wrapping and protection your goods will end up damaged, soiled, scratched, dented and busted (lost pieces, shattered glasses and lamps, broken furniture) etc.
3. their client protection program is a sham, they will make you fill out
complicated forms with all kind of information and then drag it out
until you get tired or forget about the claim. If you are the
insistent ttype hen , after more than 2 months of excruciating
emails they will get back to you with a settlement proposal that is a huge offence to anybody’s intelligence.

Do Not Use this Company.

Terrible! Messed up communications regarding timing of move in day. Movers had no runners and walked up and down in and out of the house with freshly cleaned carpets with their dirty shoes. marked up the freshly painted walls. they dumped the stuff anywhere they felt like, left stuff in the garage without checking if it should go there. they then took off without saying a word and neglected to tell me that they would not be reassembling all the beds, tables and other furniture they had disassembled. Didn't even tell me where all the hardware was. there were scratches and gouges on some pieces of wood furniture, and a missing lamp too..not happy at all. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL REGRET IT. OVERCHARGED FOR WEIGHT HAD NO WAY TO VERIFY..RIDICULOUS!

Garbage company.

They send guys that took their sweet ** time and one didn't even know english. after 5 minutes of them taking 15 minutes to back up into driveway I knew from there it was going to be a long day, including both workers resting every 5 minutes. he one guy training the other it cost me another $600 from the last time I moved with another company which btw has the same amount of things of nothing needed to be set down every time they had to pick something up more than 10 swconds etc..

worst company read the fine print cause if you think they will reimberse you for any damage from furniture to your home that you care for then you are in a delusional world.. I repeat get out while you can.. seriously..
