Local move from Carolina, RI to North Kingstown, RI

Arpin Moving Co.

Do Not under any circumstances use this mover. They deliberately created chaos in my home.Then they went in for the kill when they put my boxes in my apartment. They stole the picture I had personally wrapped myself. I told them it was my pride and joy. Well they took that and my area rug. These guys are professionals at stealing your life’s most important family possessions; and the management could care less.

Horrible Service Would Not Recommend.

This company I would legitmately have to say was the worst company I have ever had to deal with! The mover pencil whipped in that my table top was spider-web cracked AFTER I signed and was given a carbon copy. I showed them my carbon copy that it was not cracked prior to shipment and they told me I was lying! I spoke with 2 supervisors Josie Sgagliarich and Rosemary Renos; they both were rude and told me I erased my copy that was written in pen. I will never work with this company and highly encourage others to reconsider them as a choice to move your household goods! I have never written a review for anything but I stayed up after a 12 hour night shift at the hospital to talk to them and they were absolutely rude, told me I was lying and so I stayed up just to write this review.  I urge everyone who reads this to never work with this company if you ever want to be compensated for broken items made by the movers!!

Official company response

Hi Ashlee,

We're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with our Claims process, but we cannot reimburse you for the damage since it was not caused by our moving crew. Documents show it was pre-existing damage before loading. You're more than welcome to re-submit your claim through the military as we'll be happy to cooperate and provide whatever is asked of us.

Josie and Rosemary have been very professional during this matter and have only told you what we can and can't do. We hope that you can understand our decision.

Sincerely,

Arpin Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Georgia

No problems.

Going through my first military PCS move, had no problems with this company. The customer service was responsive and friendly. As it was a summer move (busiest season) they could not tell me until the day before who would move me, but a moving company came as scheduled. My items were taken away and put in storage for about 2 months. When I reached the destination, it was July which is one of the busiest months, but every single one of my items were delivered to me by a different moving company within a week, with minimal damage. Obviously you should take pics of the condition of furniture before moving, and move important documents, valuables, or sentimental items yourself.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Move.

We hired this company to do a move from the Albany area to Florida for our daughter.  The pickup was very professional and they made a detailed checklist of her items, which was supposed to be reviewed when her items were delivered for accuracy.   It took 3 weeks for her items to come and when the driver arrived he was drunk, verbally abusive, intimidating and many of her items were extensively damaged.   They demanded payment up front knowing items were damaged and intimidated her into signing the paperwork before she saw that her items were damaged. When she went outside after they arrived and they opened the truck her items were tossed all around in the truck.  They were not properly secured.  She then witnessed them throw some of her items from their truck.  She was paying in cash and they were refusing to give her a receipt.  They never provided the checklist of her items they promised to ensure that all of her boxes were delivered.  She is a young girl and was extremely scared and upset. They then refused to leave the apartment and tried to intimidate her further.  She ended up having to call the police on the driver!  We definitely do not recommend this company!  This was a horrible experience!

Service cost: $1989

Official company response

Hi Bridgit,

We're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with this moving experience. When it comes to the checklist, we did give a copy at pick-up but we're unable to give ours since we need it for our records. As for any verbal altercations, we're currently looking into that matter with the driver and crew.

For any damages that occurred, we have been informed that you have spoken to the agent assigned to your move and the claims process is currently underway.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback.

Sincerely,
Arpin Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Arkansas

Terrible in every way.

Move from Ohio to Arkansas.
Pros: none.
Cons:
- the moving coordinator was always unavailable or took a lot of time to respond;
- dates for packing and loading were scheduled before they asked us if it's OK with us;
- the packers were late (2hours) and then they took an hour and a half lunch break;
- the items were packed terrible (insecure, wrinkled);
- loaders were not careful, broke a shelf;
- delivery guys did not have the inventory sheet when started unloading and they got mad when we asked for it;
- they did not assemble a lot of the furniture - the beds didn't have the screws on and had we layed down we would've prob broken the bed;
- scratches on bed, furniture, TV;
- missing box;
- about 30 items that were broken (some souvenirs that are not replaceable);
- filed a claim 4-5 days ago and were supposed to have someone contact us (within 48 hours) to come check the damages ( a third party).

Service cost: $5000

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Where's the truck?

My mother-in-law hired Arpin to move from Florida to North Carolina. Told her it would be delivered the following week after pick-up. Now two weeks and still no truck. They told her today that the truck was on the way but had to turn around for repair. That is some coincidence that after two weeks the truck breaks down after her stuff is loaded. Now they say maybe in three more days the truck will arrive. .

Service cost: $4000

International move from , GER to , TX

Unsatisfactory move.

I just moved back from Germany about three months ago.  During the time I lived there invested in furniture, grandfather clock, Bavarian china. Furniture arrives; 4 broken dining room chairs, broken grandfather clock, stolen items like china. Arpin was verfy defensive even defensive of the German movers who apparently were totally disrespectful of someone's property.   What is more disconcerting is that one of the officials was very eager to pass the buck when confronted on how they handled the move. The insurance adjustor very arrogant and downright vindictive and rude.  Arpin's adjustors are just in cahoots with them on irresponsibility. The adjustor they contract wanted to deal with the claim at their convenience and so did Arpin. Who's responsibility is it to get the furniture back ino one piece? I really do not think this company should be trusted nor their insurance adjustors. They are not responsible.  I am dissapointed in placing my valuables in a company who cannot be trusted.

Long-distance move from Florida to California

Horrible!

I will never use this company again and I will make sure to warn every military family I know to avoid this company at all costs. My husband and I just completed our first military move and we were assigned Arpin Van Lines to complete our move. The man who was contracted out through Arpin was the rudest, most condescending man I have ever met. I wouldn't trust this guy to ship my trash can.He came to the origin pick-up unprepared and completely unable to find the place. My mom was the point of contact at the pick-up site and the mover was very unprofessional and rude to her. There were two men moving that day and one of them had apparently worked the night before and he was completely useless. My mom ended up having to pack boxes and help them do their job.When our delivery was scheduled, the mover called that morning (unprepared again) and argued with my husband about whether or not our street address was a "Road" or "Drive." when we explained to him that as far as we knew it was "Road," he still argued that he couldn't find it. My husband then suggested that he could try "Drive" in his GPS and see if that will work. Instead of trying that he continued to argue with my husband. He finally found our house and then in a condescending rude tone he proceeds to tell us that he checked our street sign and that it is "Drive" and that we were wrong. I drove by the street sign later that day to check it out for myself and it is. Road! Put two and two together and this guy is just your regular class-act liar. To top it off, he had no respect for the military. He told my husband and I that he is used to moving "Higher-ranked" officials and that he barely makes any money moving lower-ranked officers like my husband. Thankfully, I have found only one item so far that is broken. But the way he handled this seemed more like a used car salesman making a deal rather than a businessman making something right. Long story short, never use Arpin Van Lines!

Long-distance move from New York to Washington

Don't Use Arpin Moving Co.

We are writing to express our extreme disappointment with Arpin's business practices.  The best way to describe them are as profoundly unprofessional.   We made the decision to move from Niskayuna, NY to Seattle, WA in mid-June and were able to book a local mover (Liedkie Moving & Storage, Inc.) to do the cross-country move.  When we signed the contract with Liedkie, they agreed to pick up our stuff on July 3rd and to have it delivered no later than July 22nd.  At that time, Liedkie told us that the July 22nd date was just an outside parameter, the moving truck would meet us in Seattle “a day or two” after we would arrive by car.   That was the beginning of the false information we received from Liedkie – your local agent – and Arpin.   To begin, Liedkie/Arpin booked us on a move without having a driver in place.  While that may be “industry best practice,” what it really is is a misleading and deceptive practice.  How can you book a contract with a customer when you don’t have a driver to deliver their belongings?   As a result, our belongings sat in a Liedkie warehouse for nearly two weeks until a driver could finally be secured by Arpin.  And how did we even find this out?  After repeated calls to Liedkie, we were told it was “out of their hands” and that we needed to talk directly to someone at Arpin.  At this point, we were halfway across the country and our belongings were still in New York.  Daily calls to Arpin only added to our frustration of hearing again and again “we still are looking for a driver.”   Then, as the July 22nd date came closer, we were told that even though they had finally found a driver, even that date wouldn’t be met.  The reason why?  First, we were told by Chris at Arpin that because a second Arpin customer’s belongings were being picked up in Massachusetts after ours and would be delivered to Portland, OR, their shipment would need to be delivered before ours.  Why you went east from Rotterdam, NY to Massachusetts, only to pass through Rotterdam, NY on the way out west, makes zero sense to us.  Another “industry best practice”?  We understand why there would be multiple loads on our truck, but, under the circumstances, they should have been loaded with ours on the truck last and delivered first.   The reason why this is especially intriguing is that by delivering to Portland first, you would miss your own contract’s July 22nd outside delivery date.  This was a completely correctable situation that you ignored by picking up our belongings first and putting them in the back of the truck.   On top of all this, Chris told us that our delivery would be delayed yet another day because the driver had mechanical problems with the truck.  This meant that instead of delivering our goods within “a day or two” of our arrival, and instead of delivering them by the 22nd, and instead of delivering them one day late, they would arrive on the 24th, two days late.   When the moving truck finally got here on July 24th, the driver was surprised to hear that he had mechanical issues because he didn’t have any mechanical issues.   As it turned out, it was apparently better customer service for Arpin to pay us $150 a day for the inconvenience than to not breach its own contract and tell us repeated untruths.  Rest assured we will share our Arpin experience with the Better Business Bureau and will provide negative reviews everywhere we can.   Deceptive and misleading practices by any business will not be tolerated.  You should be embarrassed for your profoundly unprofessional service.

Horrible! Do not trust them!!

Like many others on here, I had a terrible experience with Arpin. They never call you back, and when you do get ahold of them, no one seems to have any sort of information over there. They fraudulently note damages that do not exist, I'm assuming as insurance in case they destroy everything you own. Not just a few, but extensive damages on all surfaces of your belongings. Double check everything!! Do not trust them on their word. If you don't understand something, have them explain it and get it in writing. My driver lied and wrote false damages on the inventory list (thanks Tom Olson), so I lost antique, irreplaceable heirloom furniture and am getting only a fraction of the worth in compensation. My fault, yes, but I assumed he was honest. They tried to give me boxes and pieces of furniture that did not belong to me, lost several pieces of my furniture and a couple of my boxes were completely ripped open and the contents moved around. All in all, please please do not use this company. If you are assigned Arpin for your military move, ask for a different company. If not, you either might get lucky or you might end up with a massive headache and a house full of broken furniture.
