American Standard Moving & Storage

I called American Standard after it showed up on my email. I talked to Dennis Mitchell and he gave an estimate of $1900.00. I set the dateofpickupasAugust 27. When the movers arrived I asked for the bill of lading. They said they were waiting for a telephone call. They took everything out and gave me the bill which was $400.00 more. I am an 80 y/o widow going from one retirement home to another. My furnishings arrived on Sept. 27. They do not answer phone calls. My son finally talked to a nasty woman and when he said I was going to file suit, that day it was packed. Do not put yourself through the stress!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2400

My elderly parents decided to use this company to move cross country. They gave all the specifics to the agent. They got a great estimated price! So cheap in fact!! Well their window was the truck would come on a Friday or Saturday. The company finally should up at about 7:00pm on the Saturday (Even though they were told they would come between 12-2pm). The company that showed up is NOT American Standard but MAP Moving & Storage. It's during the pandemic (no masks worn by employees). This MAP company is not rated with the BBB and has horrible reviews & complaints.

They are now telling my parents that they need to pay $3,000 more to move their stuff! That the American Standard agent didn't 'estimate right'. This is insane! My parents are now stuck with this nonsense. Do not be fooled by this company.

I've been calling now & leaving messages - we'll see if they ever call me back. They are shaking down my parents or they'll just leave their stuff in the driveway. Also - the 'guy in charge' is sick laying down in his truck - so they're going to move the items into a smaller truck and then move it again tomorrow.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Charged me $1000 non-refundable deposit. Sent a moving company that couldn't fit all my stuff so they just left half of it. The movers also tried to charge me extra, even though I had LESS than what was estimated on the phone.

Spent almost 2 grand to move a single bedroom apartment, I wanted to save my friends and family the headache.

It was a nightmare. Just go directly to a local company. These people charged me $1000 and all they did was call a moving company, give them a bad estimate. Total and complete rip off.

When I asked Kevin about delivery window, he told me that he can't guarantee exact day, however, if my goods will not be delivered on time and I need to rent a hotel for my family, the company will reimburse for it up to 150$ per day. It was Friday at 17:00. So, I was happy and paid deposit. Then when I finally found time to go through multiple pages of contract on Wednesday there were nothing about it in the contract. I called customer service and they denied such a policy. I requested a refund, however, they denied it as well.

So, in the end, one of their company employees lied to me to made me sign the contract and the company refused to accept responsibility for it and covered it up.

Very unprofessional!

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1970

American Standard is a brokerage that makes the consumer a lot of promises they do not keep. We made reservations for a pick date and they said it would be either that day or the next day and that we would be contacted 3 days before pick up day to confirm times. We received not calls from the movers and had to keep calling American Standard to get answers. They do not answer phones and they do not call people back. When I finally got a hold of someone she said that the movers should be calling any time today. (the day before we expected the movers) She said that the movers would not be coming out till the day after and that we should expect them between 8am-noon. 5 pm came around and no movers and no one answering customer service calls. I called 13 times. When someone answered around 5:30 I was informed that the movers were delayed but they would be there the next day between 8am-11am. Around 4:30pm the next day I get a call from the movers saying that they would be arriving around 7-8 p, and they should have us packed up by 2am and our things would be delivered to our destination the next day. I said that can't happen, we have to go to work tomorrow and we reserved this with confirmation that our belongings would be delivered on the 4th. The mover told me " I can't have my guys waiting around for 3 days to deliver your stuff".

They do not confirm anything with the moving company they hired and the amount they quoted will go up 3 to 4 times higher. My estimate of $2355 was increased to $4955. They showed up in a 26 ft Penske truck (one you can rent at Home Depot) and 3 days after our reservation date and blamed that problem on a hurricane without ever calling and letting us know what was going on. I turned the movers away saying that I didn't budget for that amount and no guaranteed delivery date.

I finally researched reviews for this company and low and behold I was an idiot for even using them.

Save your money and energy. This company is the epitome of unprofessional. Poor communication does not begin to explain the experience. Booking was a breeze great quote easy experience, told we would get a call out a week from pick up never came. We called we were put off a few more days, told we would be contacted never contacted, again we called, once again put off another 24 hours, never called we called, again put off this time told a pick up window and told we would be contacted 20 min before pickup. Again no communication no pick up. After multiple calls and emails we were told they would arrive first thing in the morning 7-10am. Again no show, after more calls and using a different phone number to contact they answered and told us 2-5 this time, when asked about our options told their contract gave them 2 days to pick up before they would have any other discussions I asked for an email expressing that, and was hung up on by someone claiming to customer service management. "is there anything else I can do for you good bye" click.

I paid a deposit(thousands) in October for a 423 items move (They created the contract). I live in New Jersey. They are located in Boca Raton, Florida. The move was to my other house in the state of Washington. We (me and American Standard) kept in touch, both myself and my attorney. The first move was scheduled for August 05, 2020. I even got a Welcome to your first Move letter a couple days before WHICH THEY SINCE DELETED. BUT I made copies of it BEFORE THEY DELETED IT and it's in my hard drive, as well as friends of mine hard drive. They had Abraham Movers call me the day before August 05, 2020. He asked me if we could reschedule my move because it was not a good day for him. I said that he could reschedule for November 2020 if he liked, otherwise it had to be for that day because my animals were picked up, and I bought my ticket so I could be there for them. So Abraham, from Abraham Movers, the company that American Standard scheduled for me said that's okay I'll be there between 7 and 8 a.m. I didn't here from them and kept calling. Hours later they called back, after calling both American Standard Moving and Storage and Abraham Movers. He told me to meet him at Treasure Island, where many of my boxes were, in the same town. We waited over an hour and a half and called him a few more times. Eventually he called back and said to go home and meet him there in a couple more hours. We did. They were closed.

So they came to my house and asked which item should he take first, I said the piano. He said he couldn't take the piano because he didn't bring the right equipment to move the piano. I called American Standard M & S and they said he could get something, it's only a half hour away. Then Abraham, I believe, said he was not going to move the piano. My kids made it easier for them by putting some of my furniture outside. Abraham (that is how he identified himself) said I had too much stuff. He said I would have to pay him an extra $300 for each piece, then changing it to, $300 for each piece that had glass. He eventually said $80 for each piece that had glass. I verbally agreed. Then he went outside, it was getting dark, we set up special outdoor lights. Then he, Abraham, went on to call American Standard. He told them I had LARGE ANIMALS in my yard. I spoke to American Standard and assured them my animals were all taken the previous day and there were no animals in my yard. Then Abraham called American Standard and told them I had metal animals in my yard. THEY WERE ON MY CONTRACT that AMERICAN STANDARD WROTE, almost in detail. Then the girl I spoke to, whose name I have written down in my complaint said there is a storm in Florida, that I am bothering her, that she is working overtime and WHY DON'T I DO MYSELF A FAVOR AND THROW OUT ALL MY JUNK. She said that this is a 30 thousand to 40 thousand dollar move ALTHOUGH AMERICAN STANDARD is the one who wrote out my quote for the $15,830.00 for 423 pieces. Also Abraham from Abraham Movers said he wanted me to sign something, which I refused because I did not want to negate my contract, and he would NOT TAKE VISA and wanted $9000 CASH to move ONLY THE BOXES IN MY GARAGE . There was all kinds of furniture including curios, doctor scale, penny scales, dressers. Can't get into it all here. If you are foolish enough to use them use a REAL CREDIT CARD. Do not use a debit card. I spent money on a regular lawyer. They just informed her today they are not paying my anything.I believe they are committing a federal CRIME. Another moving company just went to jail from FLORIDA. Now I have to take this to FEDERAL COURT. There is no way I am letting this go. I have to pay tons in storage fees. Had to buy minimal furniture just to live. I have to live through this every day. I spoke to FLORIDA STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. I spoke to the FEDERAL COURT. I am in the process of getting a new lawyer that practices in Federal court.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $15800

1 bedroom condo. Quoted decent price. Accepted. 2 days before they upped the amount from $1800 to $2800. Promised they were not selling it off to 3rd party movers. Sold it to Map Express who showed up 3 hours before I needed to be out of my house as escrow had closed. Was told by movers I needed to give them an extra cashiers check for another $2800 or they would leave all my items for trash to take. Forced me to go to bank to get the money or follow through on threat. I drove to bank and got the money. After pick up I have yet to see my items again. Starting a class action lawsuit.
