Long-distance move from Arvada, CO to Wilmington, NC

Avoid These People.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

Bait and switch tactics!

Dodge calls. Don't answer emails.

I still don't have my things. Time frame has come and gone for delivery. Cross country move.

When I booked my move, the sales person and I walked through the process, did an initial inventory that he told me.. "lets just get close, identify the big items, and we can estimate the smaller ones"..

Ended up with about 90 items.

He calls back the week of my move, we go through it again now that we have items packed and a better idea of what we are moving.

Some things have gone, some have been added, but we still land around the 88 item mark.

Movers show up (completely different company..by the way) American farmed us out to some random movers.

The foreman takes a look around and counts items and ends up with DOUBLE the number.

In the initial count you say, I have 2 queen beds and frames. this gets counted at a total of 4. But when the movers show up this gets counts as a total of 10.

I.e. 2 headboards, 2 footboards, 4 side rails, 2 mattresses.

Same thing happened with our tables, desks, and other items.

So, all in all, our move cost double what we had been quoted. Being stuck as we were leaving about 10 hours later, we agreed.

Here we are more than 3 weeks later and past the delivery window.. our items still have NOT even left the original destination. Again, this is a CROSS COUNTRY MOVE.

I call American Standard and they say, NOPE, you need to call this other place.

I call the other place and get ahold of someone the first time I call. They said they need to call dispatch and give me a call back..

No call ever comes.

I try to call back, and it goes straight to VM. Time and time again..straight to voicemail.

We call from my wifes phone and VOILA they answer!! But they say the same thing, we need to call dispatch and will call you back.

OF COURSE NO ONE CALLS.

If our items ever show up it will be at least 5 weeks without our items.

If they ever show up.

I have used movers before for both long haul and short haul moves and this is INSANE!!

I know why they make you pay with cash when they pick your stuff up and drop it off.. so you can't dispute it with your CC company.

SCAM ARTISTS.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE.

Long-distance move from Trenton, MI to Mobile, AL

Horrible service. Lied to from the moment of first call.

I received a great original quote from Glen Davis. Discussed that once all was packed I would receive a call 72 hours prior to arrival to update inventory. Well I called 3 times over the previous 3 days and was told not to worry they would call. Once movers showed up I was explained what the cost would be if I completely filled truck, but not to worry that wouldn't happen. Once truck was fully loaded, I was informed it would be an additional 2000 dollars. I called Mr. Davis who said "Well that was our fault sorry we didn't call, but it is out of our hands now. You can always refuse delivery and lose your deposit." On the day of moving that would have then cost me an additional 1500 dollars for a moving truck rental on day of move. Customer service offers no help, sales reps lie, contracts were broke . but who care they got their money right?

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Las Vegas, NV

American Standard Moving Company.

Do not use this company! I used this company to move from San Diego to LasVegas and they subbed out the work to Cheetah Movers. However, Cheetah did not pick up my stuff. Another mover came named White Gold and their lead guy was very rude to me. The final delivery was made by yet another company. A bunch of my collectibles were broken but who do you hold accountable when different companies are involved? I had no idea when they were going to deliver. They told me it could be up to two weeks and then at 10:40 pm I received a text that they would deliver the next day. Their customer service told me to have a Cashier check made.to Cheetah but then White Gold shows up and won’t take it. Both American Standard’s sales guy And White Gold were unprofessional and rude. I saw the poor Reviews and should not have used them. I also had questions and they did not return my calls. Don’t use this company as they are so unprofessional.

Very Nice!!

Everything was exactly how was described to me and my estimate was accurate reflecting my inventory. I am so thankful they took the time out of their day to write me countless emails and reassure me all along the way. I will highly recommend to anyone else again for a great moving company definitely will be a returning customer with in the near future.

Good Job!

The moving was done! And I cannot be happier with their service. Everything from booking with James and check in on moving day was relaxed and smooth. Everything was clear and explained to me. Movers were fast experienced and very courteous and professional. I would 100% recommend American Standard Moving to any friend or family member that is moving.

Long-distance move from Colorado to North Carolina

Do Not Use This Company!

My husband and I recently relocated from Colorado to North Carolina. I was, of course, looking for the most reasonable cost for this move, and looked into many companies. The sales rep from Am Standard was nice enough, but when I was hesitant to move forward with making a final decision, he switched me to another rep that really increased the pressure to sign, which should have been my first red flag.

I had given them the list of all our furniture and appliances, an approximate box count, and our quote was $12,000, minus an ENORMOUS discount of 65%, bringing the total down to $5700. Of course, this was the best price I was able to find, so I signed with them. The discounted amount should have been red flag #2.

The day the movers showed up, it was not a truck from American standard, as expected, THEY BROKER THEIR MOVE OUT AND DO NOT TELL YOU! The foreman sits down with me, and with his nifty pencil, gives me a final price of $12,400. I about fell off my chair! No, I explained, I have a written price of $5700 from American Standard. He says, oh, that is nothing, this is how we calculate your cost, and explains it to me. Here I am, three days before we must have the house empty and cleaned for the buyers, and be on our way to our new home, six states away. I got right on the phone with Am Standard, and was going to straighten this problem out-Only, my salesman is not available! I am only allowed to speak to a customer service rep who knows nothing about our move.

I explained what was happening, and she was very sympathetic, even offered to refund $450.00 (which, of course I never got!) The foreman, in the meantime, called his boss, and got $2000 taken of the total cost. I was backed into a corner- no time at this point to shop around for another mover, was not able to reach the Am Standard sales team, and this mover was not loading a box on his truck until I signed his contract. After several calls to my husband at work, we decided to sign, and contact a lawyer once we got to North Carolina. This was classic bait and switch, and there was no way out!

The movers were very good at their jobs, I will say, and they did wrap all our furniture very well. There wasn't a single item broken or missing, and no damage to any piece of our furniture.

On the other end, our belongings were supposed to arrive on Sept 2. When I called on Sept 1 to confirm their arrival time, I was informed they had up to THREE WEEKS past the date I was promised to deliver our belongings, which was explained to me by my movers (this was a complete surprise, and was definitely not explained!)

We ate off paper plates and slept on an inflatable mattress for the next two weeks, until our belongings arrived on Sept 14.

We have now settled into our new home, but this is not over.

Long-distance move from Fairfax, VA to Madison, WI

Poor communication.

I knew the move I was trying to schedule would be difficult, and I did my best to convey that when I spoke to Jason on the phone. He assured me he would send a team that could deal with the tight elevator schedule, and my shipment could be warehoused in my new home town while I house hunted, and delivered when I found a home. He gave me his number so I could reach him with questions without going through the dispatch number. After that, he never answered any of my calls or replied to messages.

The movers were scheduled on the wrong day, and I had to wrestle for a new elevator appointment. One dispatcher told me the movers would be there an hour early for the new appointment. They were two hours late. I called back, and another dispatcher told me that the time was not when they would work, but a window of time during which they might arrive. I was running boxes and furniture down the hall myself, trying to get it all in the loading dock before my elevator time ran out. When the movers showed up, they were in no hurry. When the work was nearly complete, and I was being hollered at by the elevator czar from the property management office, the moving crew stopped for a break. In the end, I did about half of the heavy lifting myself.

When I arrived at the new town, and found a home, I called to try to schedule a delivery date. Everything Jason said about moving things to the new town for a quick delivery went out the window. After three weeks, everything was still in the wrong state. I was told they'd get it on a truck in about a week, and then it might take two to four weeks to arrive, but they would call 24 hours ahead of arrival. All I could do was let my employer know I would need a day off on short notice between now and the end of time. The good news is that it only took a few days, not two to four weeks, between the time the shipment was on the road and the delivery. I was given 16 hours notice.

When the shipment arrived, the people who moved it were careful and professional. Of course, by that time the damage had been done. There were some broken plates, and a few missing items. Many of the boxes and some of the furniture had been damaged.

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to Denver, CO

Untruthful Sales Associate.

Sales Specialist Lied about cancellation policy in conversation. I spoke to a sales associate on the phone named Vince Pearlman for American Standard Moving and Storage and scheduled a moving service. Vince promised me verbally over the phone more than three times that I could cancel my service up until move in day. I called the next day after speaking with Vince and asked to cancel. He sent me to customer service. I asked to cancel. They denied my cancellation and requested to hold my $574 deposit because that was their written cancellation policy. The sales associate verbally denied that was their cancellation policy after I asked him numerous times. Their sales rep repeatedly denied this in a phone conversation three times. Even after calling to cancel, American Moving and Storage has refused to give me a refund even after I called the next day.

Long-distance move from Gilroy, CA to Tucson, AZ

Moving experience.

I wouldn’t give even 1 star to this horrible company. We had 2 moves with them. Both from California to Tuscon. Both disastrous! Never use this fly by night company. They promise the moon and when they get your money they lie! Don’t deliver what they promise. Once you book with them, you can never talk to your so called rep. Some lady in the office is all you get after your deposit. I can’t believe how they stay in business. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any company.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT A GOOD MOVING EXPERIENCE!!’ Trust me! Awful.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Florida

Must Read.

I'm a senior and have moved households many times in my lifetime, however I was not savvy enough to see this scam. I have an open case with the State Attorney Consumers Affairs Division and Department of Highway and Transportation.

I am pushing them to do a full blown investigation. They provided no service to me and want to keep my 3k deposit.

I would rather donate that money to someone in need than see the scam artists keep that money. They simply lowballed my estimate then after we closed on our home and prepared two weeks for the move, they show up and their hired help spends literally 5 minutes in my home and tells me they screwed up. Now the 6k estimate for the move is 12,000 to 14,000. You can imagine the shock my wife was in. This is after a few days prior going over every item that had to be moved with a gentleman named Scott and informing me they had to bump the estimate from 5,700 to 6,300, again after reviewing every item room by room. Okay we really had no choice that was just few days before the move. We did not add one item from that conversation. So then they use the contract wording, "estimate" as their basic way of not having to honor their contract. Just for your FYI, Mayflower came as an emergency call and provided an estimate and moved me the next day for thousands less than American tried to scam us for. Be aware of a sales rep named Brian, nice in the beginning then ghosts your calls and emails when the scam takes place. I've been in business many years but this is truly the shadiest scam artists I've ever dealt with. I confirm everything I wrote is factual, which was sent to their customers relations department. You should have seen that response, gouging and deceptive practices are criminal, that's what I'm, seeking the Attorney General to move forward with. However they respond to this is more cover-up for their scams.
