If this is your first big move or cross country move, this review is for you and a word of caution. This is my personal experience only. Your experience may be different. In short, I would not recommend them to anyone. If you’re up for a story, read on….

The initial sales pitch is really good. Communication and availability of people to talk to, ask questions and get support are all great.

I received my follow up call on a Friday for my move that was scheduled between Monday and Wednesday of the following week. AME confirmed they would be out on Monday and I would get a call on Sunday with the timing for Monday. That call did not come. I followed up with the two contacts I had, both went to an answering service and my emails were not returned. I did not hear anything until 2pm on Monday informing me that my pickup window was Wednesday instead. I was told this was my misunderstanding of the process. After reviewing the call AME stated I did hear and understand correctly and this was their mistake.

In my updated window on Wednesday between 12-4, I received a call at 2pm from AME saying that no one would be coming that day either due to weather and I was rescheduled for 12-4 on Thursday.

On Thursday morning at 9am I get a call from the driver stating they will be on site by 9:30 and I state this will not work and my window was 12-4. They asked what the big deal was and I stated that he was supposed to be on site yesterday. I called AME and asked what was happening. They stated the driver may have flipped the pickup. I stated I was not available until 12:00 as that was the agreed upon window and after waiting for two days I no longer had that flexibility. AME was polite and stated that I would be in the afternoon between 2-4. By 3 I had not heard from the driver or AME so I called in again. I was informed my delivery window updated to 3-6 and I should have been informed. I was not. At 5:30 there was still no call from the driver. I called AME again and was informed a worker was hurt and they would more than likely not be coming today. Again. AME asked to give the driver 30 minutes to call in. At 6:15 there was no call or response from AME or the driver. I called in and it went directly to their answering service. (The answering service is a relay only. They cannot help you.). At 8pm the driver arrived on location. They did not call ahead or provide any advanced notice as AME stated they would. I call AME 3 times over the next hour and a half to get someone from AME to validate the updated costs with the carrier. No one returned my calls. I canceled the pickup and sent the driver away. (AME is very specific about not accepting updated rates from the drivers. They say they can negotiate better rates and should not accept anything without looping them in.). I received a call back from AME at 10pm with no updates and I needed to inform the rep of the situation. It was late so we agreed to speak the next day.

Friday. By 10am I had not heard back from AME. At 11:30 my rep called back and asked me what I wanted to do. I thought this was an odd question as I was expecting AME to provide a solution to this since they are the broker. AME stated they were able to send a truck the next day (Saturday). I stated this was acceptable but I wanted an adjustment on my costs since I had lost an entire week. After discussing with a supervisor she was only willing to make a $100 adjustment. This was equivalent to a 2.7% deduction. I said that was not acceptable and I thought based on how poorly the week went a $400-500 deduction was more appropriate. She refused and pushed back about what had happened during the week. She stated they were brokers only and the remaining costs were to the movers. I said that was fine and it didn’t matter where the money came from but the service to date from AME was unacceptable. I asked her to review the full story and she accepted and said she would call me back in a few minutes. I waited for an hour and a half before calling her back at 5:15. Their offices close at 5 on Friday so it went back to their answering service. The old adage of fool me once seems like a fitting choice here.

At this point I was done. My call was returned at 5:39 but I missed it. They did not leave a message. I called back at 5:40 and it went back to the answering service. Again. I left another message. My call was retuned at 5:49 but I did not want to deal with them anymore.

If you’ve read all of this, you rock. Obviously this is all anecdotal and my personal experience with them. But I hope this detail gives you pause before you make a decision to hire them. With parking permits and the AME deposit I’m out around $1000. And I’m walking away. Some life lessons are expensive. Hopefully it won’t be one for you too.

This company will move your stuff but they are liars. I was told that there would put down a certain amount of boxes but if I find out I have less then I can let them know and the cost will be lower. When I told them I had less boxes I was told that that is incorrect and I should’ve changed it prior. Ok whatever. I stated to them that I needed an empty truck weight and a loaded truck weight for the military to process my move and Crystal said they can absolutely do that and it was put in my file. When I called to remind the company that I needed the weights I was told that the movers don’t do that. I am absolutely livid because I need that. And for this “reputable” company to use underhanded tactics in order to get customers is completely ridiculous. The movers were the only good thing because they were fast and thorough. And the customer service girl (I believe her name started with a M) was so rude and unprofessional
