Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Storrs Mansfield, CT

Moving in multiple stages

I am so happy with how Tanya helped me with a very complicated move. I had to box up everything to sell our home. She helped me understand how things needed to be boxed for safety. Then some things had to go to family in Connecticut, some to storage and some to where we were going to live while we built our forever home in Canyon Lake. Finally getting all these things together to make the move to Canyon Lake. She helped calculate storage costs and how much packaging supplies I would need. And some of this took months to accomplish and is still ongoing.

She always promptly returned all my calls (even when I called multiple times in one day) Without her expertise and advice this whole process would have been too much for me. The movers were prompt and very, very careful with my things. I was even a little worried about some boxes in storage and they came back out to check on them and rearrange them to my satisfaction with no additional cost to me. Service with this company is phenomenal!!!

Great job

I recently moved to American Is and had a wonderful experience I found that their prices were very reasonable. They have a great team,Tanya helped me all along the way. I had a damage free move. Everyone was very professional coming in my home and I felt very comfortable. All of my questions were answered before booking and any concerns i had during the move got answered. Would recommend American Knights.

Max and Oleg were incredible

I had to move on short notice. They responded immediately to my request for a quote and were able to schedule my move for the date and time I needed. On the morning of the move, Max texted me and let me know the arrival time (they were on time). Max and Oleg were incredible-they were efficient, friendly, and careful with the items. They went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again.

Terrible for cross country moves

I see a lot of positive reviews for in-state TX moves but my experience with American Knights has been awful. They are supposed to be moving my home cross country, with an expected arrival of 14-21 days. It has been 18 days and my stuff is still sitting in a warehouse in Houston.

They can give me no estimate when my boxes will arrive and only state that they have until October 4th based on the contract which uses “business days” although I was told the timeframe was in calendar days.

American Knights Moving was Awesome

Excellent moving job by the team Nicholos, Sam, Gabit, Rus, Koyla. Very professional and polite/respectful. They were detailed on labeling our boxes and helpful in putting items where we wanted them in the new house. They figured out how to get things packed well and the move was flawless. Plus American Knights Moving was flexible with our move date as it needed to be pushed out a few times. Thanks!!!

Long-distance move from Cedar Park, TX to Falmouth, ME

Worst moving company ever

We are having a terrible experience with this company. Short version - We were quoted a cost, told the cost would be 9k, jacked the price up 25% when picking up for THE SAME ITEMS, and failed to meet the 21 business day window.

Long version - Prior to the company picking up the items, we were quoted $9k based on what was itemized.

Issue #1 - When the movers came to pick the items up (Nov 14th) they stated the items were too big, and we needed to pay an additional $3k (25% more). These were the same things that were itemized and we do not own overly bulky furniture. Because we were moving the next day, we had no choice but to pay them more.

Issue #2 - We were told we would receive our items within 21 business days. While this wasn’t ideal (sleeping on air mattresses, eating while sitting on the floor, etc.) we understood and agreed to the terms, thinking the 21 business days (30 total days including Thanksgiving) would be a worst case scenario. I reached out to American Knights (outsourced company) each week to find out the status.

Between November 21st and December, I was repeatedly be told that the items are not on the truck yet but would be informed when they are.

On December 13th, I was told they were putting our items on the truck and would call us when they are on the road. I informed them that they are cutting it close to the deadline and we need our items sooner than later.

On December 14th, I contacted them as I hadn’t heard from them and they stated they were still putting our items on the truck, but would be leaving shortly. I reminded them that they are cutting it close in missing the deadline. They assured me that the delivery will be before the deadline and to expect it by Sunday (Dec 18th).

Today, the driver contacted my wife and stated they would be there by Wednesday, December 21st. This would be the last day of the period and any delays would put them past the allotted period. Three hours later, they notified my wife that they now won’t get there until Friday, December 23rd, past the period.

Issue 3 - Compensation.

Since our family has been eating on a floor and sleeping on air mattresses while paying $12k and they missed the deadline, I expected a discount on the service. Here is what I was offered… $25 PER DAY! So not receding my items until at least 45 days from pickup and a bait and switch on the price equates to less than 1% of the purchase in compensation. There is no incentive for them to follow the contract.

WORST COMPANY EVER!

Long-distance move from Biloxi, MS to Huntsville, AL

Terrible Company

This company is almost completely terrible. From the beginning, the movers sent to pack were late, complained about the number of house hold goods, and brought too small a truck, even after telling us it would be a semi-tractor trailer; it was a box truck. The truck was beat and looked like they just purchased it from a junkyard. Packers complained about the FREE pizza we bought for their dinner (they wanted hamburgers). They could not fit all of our goods into the truck, had to go UNPACK it into a storage location, and then return the next day. They were over an hour late the next morning. Since it was over a "holiday" weekend, (Good Friday, REALLY???) the American Knights home office closed for three days and we eventually could not get a delivery date for over a week and a half. When we FINALLY got someone one the phone, the following Monday, Claudia C., she began to argue that they were entitled to Friday off. We could not have cared any less and this idiot of a woman, raised her voice, got indignant, argued, and hung up. Top notch customer service. We finally had to call from a BLOCKED number to get someone to answer the phone and were given platitudes and BS excuses for Claudia's behavior by another employee. Unprofessional does not begin to quantify this company. Delivery, by almost an entirely different crew, was relatively OK, OVER two days, as ONCE AGAIN too small of a truck and they had to pack it twice from a storage location. Numerous items damaged from utter careless and unprofessional packing done by the first crew. Note, we again bought them dinner, pizza, when it got late; the one mover present, who was also a prior packer, just took a pizza all to himself without asking or saying a word. It should be noted the delivery crew chief was very professional and respectful; literally the only positive working with this company. Before using this company, consider pouring kerosene over your household items and set them alight. Dealing with an arson investigation and insurance fraud charges will probably be a better experience.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, TX to Hampshire, IL

Do not do an interstate move with them!

Go to BBB to see reviews if you are doing an interstate move! I was quoted a 7 day delivery that turned into a 14 das My stuff was picked up on 12.15.2023 and it is now 1.03.2024. Now I am being told 21 business days but I am high priority. High priority to who? I have no bed or anything to cook with! My life is in disarray and may continue for another 2 plus week like this. Also upon pickup they placed tape directly on my furniture and literally dragged my furniture down the stairs which I said do not do that as it will damage my furniture. Clearly their movers are not professional and across state lines takes a month or longer to deliver.

American Knights subcontracted by International Van Lines

Do not use American Knights nor International Van Lines if you value your belongings. This company was subcontracted by IVL without our knowledge. It was an in state move with 3 months of what was supposed to be climate controlled storage. Twenty eight pieces of furniture were delivered damaged in transit and/or storage. Items were water damaged, heat damaged, functionally damaged, scratched, torn or totally destroyed. The claims process took two months and resulted in a payment offer of $404 based on $.60 per pound per item. It's going to cost me in the neighborhood of $10,000 to repair or replace the damaged items.
