American Eagle Moving Company

If I could give zero stars! This company is responsible for the worst moving experience of my life. Having been jilted by moving companies before I painstakingly followed up with my coordinator (Jared) for weeks. He gave me an estimate, took my deposit, said he would be communicating with me the whole time through my move. Well, two weeks before my scheduled moving date Jared's phone number no longer works. I call customer service everyday and wait on hold for at least twenty minutes. They tell me everything for my move is fine and I will have a dispatcher contact me 48 hours before my move.

48 hours, nothing.
24 hours, nothing.
Finally the morning of I get a call from a totally random guy, unaffiliated with the company. He says he has another job and can't move me until the next day. So we wait another day. Meanwhile, I am living in a hotel in Tuscaloosa and my fiance is still at our apartment in Savannah, everything packed up waiting for this guy. He comes in demanding a check for thousands of dollars (total arbitrary number, not in the quote) and says he won't do anything until my fiance writes it out. So he writes him and check and puts "american eagle movers" in the memo line and the guy freaks out and says it has to be made out to him personally. When my fiance questions this the guys yells at him and says he doesn't appreciate being accused of stealing. Then he storms out of the house and says "I ought to beat your a**."

So after taking the check, finally, this hostile man takes all of our stuff and puts it in his truck and then says he won't be delivering it until the check clears. Its a sunday. So we wait another three days before he calls saying he will deliver now but that I have to have another $1000 payment for him IN CASH or he wont leave where he is.

Also, I missed his call at 830 am. He knows we're at the new place (without furniture) waiting for him. I called him back at 9 and he said he already started a new job and wouldn't get to me until later.

Now he gives me the number of a new driver. I still haven't been able to call and complain to customer service because I have no idea where this guy is, who he is, what he is going to do with all of possessions..this new driver says he is on his way (at 330pm, its a 6 hour drive) and that he'll call me when he is close. He calls when he is about an hour away. I go to my new apartment and wait. Two hours go by. I call his phone, it's dead.

They finally show up to my apartment at 10:45pm and I just have them load everything into the first floor living room because I'm worried they'll charge me a few extra hundred dollars if they have to go upstairs! Even though it was mentioned before I got the quote that there would be stairs!

Anyway I'm writing this because I am furious and still can't get anyone from the company on the phone.

Thousands and thousands of dollars to have the rudest, least helpful, AGRESSIVE man I've spoken to hold my stuff captive for days on end while demanding increasing amounts of money written out to him personally or in cash.

SKETCHY, UNPROFESSIONAL, STRESSFUL, HORRIFIC.

Do NOT use this moving company.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4100

Unfortunately I was only given four days from my company to move. I contacted American Eagle and they were very professional and I couldn't believe that in the middle of the summer they actually had the availability to get me picked up and dropped off. Thank you very much for all of the hard work that everyone did including Chris and the three men that showed up to move my stuff. My wife and I were thrilled and now my company has their favorite employee working there now and my kids have just enough time to get ready for school that's starting in a few weeks.

American Eagle is not a company I would recommend. In my dealings with them, they lacked professionalism, Customer service acumen, and common decency. I requested that my estimate/order be canceled. Their contract clearly states a full refund is due as long as they have not showed up for the pick up of household goods. They refused to refund my security deposit. This company is Godless, Lawless and lacks integrity. Please file complaints against them with the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Transportation in Washington, DC. if you have a complaint so their history can be well documented. Their US DOT# is
3057972. Please contact your local Attorney General to also file a complaint against this company. If the States Attorney Generals have too many complaints, they can bar this company from doing business in your state. Please post all complaints to facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They do not deserve your money nor your friends or family when they operate under lies, deceitfulness,and no integrity. STOP THEM BY EXPOSING THEM.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $25100

I already put a review in. This is my last one. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They are SCAMMERS!! I had a move on June 15th and did not receive my furniture until July 5th!! they will not return calls and will not let you speak with someone in charge!! My boxes are crushed and torn!! I have not determined if the contents are broken or damaged yet!! I had to pay an additional $1,081!! Estimate was for 449 sq ft, They estimated after stuff was on truck at 657 sq ft. I had less stuff going on than what was given at original estimate. They don't tell you that you have to use a certain size box to pack your belongings!! I used this company out of Alexandria VA and they are the most INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!!

Quoted $3,000 by phone, the crew was hours late, came in an unmarked truck, the crew manager was outright rude and unprofessional, they took too much interest in our things - felt like they were taking stock and wanted to charge us $17,000!! The company has a bogus address, wont return calls, except to demand we give cash or travelers checks with no guarantee they will deliver!! My mother is 71 years old and a retired Navy Commander, they stole everything from her!! Do Not Hire!!

They picked up the stuff for my daughter on 6/26/18. Now on 7/14/18, the stuff is still not delivered. I contacted them so many times. For the first 2 weeks, they totally ignored my emails and calls (said they had no access to my account). After I told them that I had filed complaint at BBB and AMSA, they started to e-mail me, but for 4 days, they kept saying my stuff is en-route but refuse to tell me where it is and when it would be delivered. My daughter stays in her apartment for 3 weeks without her stuff. This company is absolutely unprofessional and unethical. Government should regulate their operation.

I would not give this company any stars but I had to give it one star in order to write this review. My original quote to move me from Maryland to Vermont was $4000. Once I have them a deposit of $1400 I couldn’t get Zack Stevens on the phone. He never returned my calls or emails. The movers showed up to pick up my stuff at 7:30p, the window was for 3-5p, and they didn’t finish packing until 2am. Once all my stuff was in the truck, the driver tells me my new balance was $8652!! They had all my stuff and I had given them $2700 by then. I didn’t receive a copy of the inventory and had to take a picture with my cell phone camera the new agreement. My stuff arrived July 5 and I was missing so much stuff. The driver called the company and told me they would be sending another truck with the rest of my stuff in 3-4 days. The driver did give me a copy of the inventory this time. I waited 3-4 days, no truck. Called the company and no one knew about another truck. They said I had to file a claim report of what was missing. So they never intended to send my stuff they just wanted to get my money and get out of there. What I don’t understand is that the truck my stuff was in had someone else’s belongings in there too. If they just filled the truck with my stuff then they wouldn’t have to send a second truck. I’ve been trying to get a copy of the inventory from when they picked up my stuff but now another request has to be made for me to get that before I can fill out the claim form. It’s one obstacle after another. If I ever get my stuff, they will probably charge me another fee to deliver my stuff which I already paid over $8000. Who knows when I will receive my stuff.
