Long-distance move from Texas to Oklahoma

Packing up only- have not delivered yet! TX -OK.

I'm very nervous my rate went from 1950.00 4010.00 he showed with up with a totally different rate then quoted and different items were missing on his quote than the one I was emailed. I have a 2 bedroom Apartment with only one bedroom of furniture, not much furniture I did have a lot of boxes that I packed. After 8?hrs with 2 hrs of which was spent writing and re-doing pages and pages of paperwork and 8:15 pm. I hope my items make it to Oklahoma and we are not charged any additional charges. I have no clue what else to do but pray it arrives in one piece because I feel we were ripped off! How can something like this be so wrong I could care less about cubic ft and SQ footage. 2 bedroom apartment.

Worst.

TERRIBLE! We have used movers several times and by far these so called professional movers were a joke. Brought a small trailer, took 8 hours to pack up our place, and then an additional 5 hours to unpack, and it would have been longer if I hadn't told them to just leave the rest in front room. Broke a washer, couldn't move certain items, so I had to assist, scratched furniture, walls, doors, etc.. The older mover brought along a child to assist, and could barely speak English.
I called the corporate number to complain, and he said he would talk to the movers. He never did. When it came time to pay, said I owed $1250.00!! I was shocked. Moved from an apartment (1300 sq. Ft.) to a house. I refused to pay, and finally they agreed on 750, which was way too much.
DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. NEVER!!

Complex move.

We reserved the moving team for a complex multi-stop move from Dallas to Austin. They broke several things and banged up a couple antiques, which I'll submit a claim for. The reason the items were broken and banged up, is because they weren't wrapped in pads, which surprised me. At the first stop, they were so diligent about wrapping everything tight. At the send stop, apparently they didn't - so you may want to watch them closely.

In terms if the crew's work ethic, these guys HUSSLED. They were polite and were personable. I would use these guys again, IF they wrapped all breakable items. The team stated they would be at my place between 6-8am and showed up around 820.

The pricing of the move I felt was fair, considering the stops and distance. The office (Mickey) was sure to reach out to me in advance to confirm the move and ensure they had a good list of items. He quoted me around $1200 and that included 5 hours of labor (excluding travel time) and I timed it..turned out to be about 4.5 hours.

Overall, I'm happy with the move and services, with the exception of the broken items, but I'm assuming that the claims will cover the breakages.

Worst Movers Ever!

Worst moving experience ever!Broke dining room table, broke chest of drawers, drug mattress and box springs on ground. Tore off part of ceiling while moving items upstairs, left scratches and marks all over walls. They say the claims department takes 90 days to process claims. Just long enough for the credit card charge to go through.  Move was cheap, about 550.00. Got the run around from the company. Did not buy extra moving insurance. Shame on me! Disputing charge with AMX and calling BBB.

Alpha Moving and Storage.

I contacted Alpha Moving and Storage several weeks before my move to get a quote. The quote was very reasonable; however, it did change! Our plan was to move on Sunday, May 29, 2011 and then have the carpets and home cleaned the following day. Well, Alpha MESSED THIS UP! A few days before my move, I received a phone call from Alpha in reference to my quote. I was told by Alpha that they were unsure how THEY came up with the quote price that THEY GAVE ME. Nevertheless, the quote price INCREASED by a few hundred dollars. Since these changes were taking place a few days before my move, I just accepted the price because at this point it was too late to contact another company. I also received an email asking if it was okay to change my move time because they ACCIDENTLY double booked another move around the same time as mine. Again, trying to be accommodating, I agreed to change my move time to be between noon and 2 p.m.

At or around 2 p.m. on the day of my move, I received a phone call from the movers informing me that they would be late. About 30 minutes later, I received a phone call from a manager at Alpha who informed me that two of the movers were injured and they didn't have anyone at this point to move us. This individual stated that he would call back me back if he could locate someone. I informed him that if he couldn't find anyone, we could move first thing Monday morning (even though it was Memorial Day). I explained to him that we had a maid service and carpet cleaning coming on Monday and he assured me that the move would be completed by the time they arrived. Oh boy was I wrong! One hour..two hours..three hours went by before I finally heard back from Alpha Moving and Storage. The manager told me that the movers would be at my home between 6 and 7 a.m. At 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning, the movers were not there. At or around this time, I contacted Alpha's manager and main office and left a message. Very frustrated, I picked up the phone and started calling storage facilities and truck rental companies. After a few calls, I found the resources I needed for me to conduct my own move. At this point, my wife and I start driving to pick up the vehicle. About 3 minutes into our drive, at approximately 8:15 a.m., I received a call from the movers stating that they were 20 minutes away. Because I didn't really want to move my stuff myself (especially on a holiday), I told them to just come on! About 45 minutes later, the movers finally showed up. Little to my surprise, the movers were contractors and not Alpha Moving and Storage employees.

I must say that the movers who show up were very professional. They worked hard to move my belongings. About halfway into the move, I was told by the movers that they were running out of space on the truck and would need to drop my items off at Alpha's warehouse where I agreed to store my items for one month. Since I live in Collin County and Alpha's storage is located in Dallas, it would take about 2 or more hours for them to complete the exchange. Again frustrated, I contacted a local storage located by my house and arranged my things to be stored there. Since I worked out of state and was planning on flying back on Monday afternoon, I had to change my flight which was a $75.00. In addition, I had to pay for a hotel on Sunday that I didn't need.

Overall, I would say that Alpha Moving and Storage is the most incompetent moving company in the entire DFW area. First off, they lied about the employees being injured. The movers that showed up on Monday were the same movers that called me on Sunday saying that they were running late. This was the same crew!! Next, no one from Alpha Moving and Storage personally contacted me to apologize on Monday even though I contacted them through email and by phone to let them know that..it's Monday at 7 a.m. and no one is here. Lastly, if Alpha Moving and Storage offers free storage, it is a good idea to make sure they have room to accommodate their customers' items. Therefore, be prepared to make accommodations to store your own items. I would never use this company again if it was the last moving company left on the face of the earth. I would rather put my items on my back and carry them before I do business with this company.

Great Experience.

I called the first six companies I found online. Each place I called they made me feel rushed and gave me high and extremely low (flat rate) quotes. I felt very frustrated until I called Alpha Moving & Storage and spoke with Tom.

He took the time to explain what goes in to a move and how they will be able to help me. They made me feel very confident with my choice.

On the day of the move, everythin ran very smoothly. the packed all my belonging into boxes, padded my T.V's and loaded everything very quickly.

When it came time to unload, the movers set up my entertainment system, hung my wifes paintings and set up our bed.

I highly recommend this company.

Read reviews before choosing a mover.

Alpha Moving and Storage moved us locally on July 12, 2013. Everything seemed to go pretty smoothly. However, we had a few pieces scratched and the office desk was broken during the move. After the move, I offered the crew a few drinks to thank them. We were standing outside by the garage. Someone stole my RayBan sunglasses that were on a table by the garage and left their cheap sunglasses. I followed up several times with multiple people at Alpha Moving and Storage to exchange the sunglasses to no avail. Nobody admitted to taking the RayBan's.Like I'm sure most people do during a move, we gave several items to the workers, including a 50 inch Plasma TV.As I stated, we moved on July 12, 2013. We are still waiting to hear anything regarding our damaged pieces. Be care who you choose, and review their claim process before choosing.Although the move was relatively smooth, at this time, I question the integrity of one, or more of the workers.

NOT a professional moving company.

Under-estimated the entire job.  27k lbs was the estimate I received from them and other companies, but Alpha stated they could pack, load and unload in 3 days..now I know why.  They did not pack as a professional packing company would. As an example, instead of hanging my closet hanging clothes in a wardrobe box, the stacked them all on top of each other in a wardrobe box.  They placed jars of change (unwrapped) on top of my dress shoes (many of which cost . $150-200 each), then threw in my hiking boots and running shows.  Nothing was wrapped, except my china..which was wrapped in a single sheet of paper.  They ran out of materials and used my material.  They did not have tools to disassemble and reassemble my furniture, so I had to loan them my tools.  Boxes were not labled, contents from different rooms were mixed together and a majority of the last day of the unload, the load was stacked in the garage.  In my 52 years, as a military brat and as a military vet, I have moved well over 20 times..domestically and internationally..I believe I have the experience to speak with some credibility..these folks do NOT know how to properly move a home.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to New York

Bad experience.

The movers were horrible. Was quoted 1 rate then was given double the price. this was just some furniture being moved from my father in laws house to mine and my brother in laws. This was not us moving. They scratched my beautiful wooden floors upstairs. I moved into this house last year with triple the amount of stuff and the movers were great. These guys wanted a big tip. Here is a tip stop stealing from your customers.

Horrible communication and costs added as you go.

The move took literally weeks longer because when they didn't get documents I had repeatedly faxed they simply didn't put my furniture on the truck or call me and inform me. They told me specific things in sales and then told me completely different things in other departments and never had anyone call back. They didn't assemble the furniture as promised because some of it was picked up from storage even though I was told it would be. A different company will sell you the services and then a different company witll pick up the items. They will not honor even what is in writing. All the furniture that they had been told was plaster was later required to be crated at $50 dollars a crate..I asked if more could be added was told it could..driver says she can tell you what ever she wants there is no room on the truck (20% of my things get left in another city.) The customer service is only a call center looking at your contract (she admitted this and then the woman that answers the phone but also calls herself the manager said it wasn't true.) I almost never got a return phone call and they only answer there phone about 25% of the time. Poor communication. They will lie and tell you one thing and then you will find yourself dealing with another person who won't honor that. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
