Long-distance move from Salem, MO to Pittsburgh, PA

Where are my belongings?

I paid over $3,000 to have Allied Van Lines to move me. I was told my things were to be delivered three days ago. I keep calling and they keep saying the movers should call. I have been sitting here for four days waiting for a phone call. I have things to do and this is incredibly frustrating. The man who arranged the move was wonderful but it seems that they just took everything I owned and disappeared into the night. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! This was a very small shipment that I could have put into a U-Haul if I were not a 59 year old woman with a bad back.

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Salisbury, MA

Service.

I give them 5 Stars for consistency - being consistently bad. From picking up the stuff to delivering, it was a nightmare. I move every 3-4 years and this time we picked Allied - HUGE MISTAKE. If you want to pay premium and get good service, Allied is not the one you should be considering (we paid $8500 for 4 bedroom move in two parts and self packed a lot of stuff).

We had sold our house and were in hurry to leave. Movers showed up at 1 PM whereas promised time was 8 AM! It seems like that Allied had determined that getting the A/C fix was more important than keeping promises with customers and A/C can’t wait until the afternoon! We were supposed to leave for MA from Pittsburgh, PA that day which did not happen.

When they arrived at our apartment in MA, we told them that masks are required by state regulation and provided them masks. The driver refused to wear it and got into argument with other tenants and the staff had to be called. In the end there was only one person that was moving stuff. Quite an embarrassment for us as new neighbor.

Allied packed the furniture so badly (tightly) that it broke the table legs! They also managed to shatter a very expensive china figurine that we had specifically told them needs extra attention (that piece had moved several times and was safe because the movers cared).

Claim processing was another nightmare. Person dealing with us did not have the right information and expected us to provide “number” on boxes which we had already thrown away. To make a long story short they gave us $60 (yes $60) based on the weight cause we had a crapy insurance. No responsibility whatsoever.

Allied will not be our mover of the future.

Long-distance move from Kalamazoo, MI to Simpsonville, SC

Movers Late! Horrible Service!

I accepted a job in South Carolina from Michigan. Movers picked up on 9/4 prior to Labor Day to deliver by 9/12. They called in 9/4 to tell me they did not have a driver. Wow! It was too late now. It’s 9/15 and still my property is not here. It’s horrible. The sales team is not supportive and said

“ sometimes it happens” .. you get $100 a day for delays. I’m worried they may never get here and I will have to take legal action. The sales team has just passed the responsibility to the driver.

Long distance move from Wauseon, OH to Albuquerque, NM

If you are moving across the country and entrusting ALL of your worldly belongings to a moving company, do NOT choose Allied Van Lines. I thought I had planned and ensured a smooth move plan. It was scheduled and booked weeks in advance. When I had not heard from the driver as promised, I called and found out I was not on the books at all... my move had been totally dropped and forgotten. Lane's movers in Lima, OH (they are awesome, by the way!) came and picked up my belongings the day of the move and took it all to their warehouse. All of my belongings sat in that Lima warehouse for three weeks before Allied picked it up. I had a new job that I had to start before my things arrived; I sat in an empty apartment waiting for my possessions. Tony, the driver who picked my things up in Lima and delivered them to me in Albuquerque, was awesome and I appreciated him very much! I feel he took extra good care, loading my things and delivering them to me. He heard what had happened and felt bad for me. He was awesome and I do not blame him at all. Allied, the corporation and customer service, on the other hand... I have never had a business deal handled in such a poor manner! Allied did not follow through with one thing, from start to finish, as they promised with my move... not one thing! There was NO communication whatsoever and no accountability for my move just dropping completely off their radar. I will never recommend Allied to anyone moving. Look for another mover. I am not sure how they claim to be "number 1" or "the best". My experience with them was nothing short of a horrible nightmare! The driver I had delivering was great! Other than that, there was nothing good about my experience.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Knoxville, TN

RUINED OUR ENTIRE SUMMER

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING ALLIED!!!!

First off, I have moved domestically and internationally via professional moving services more than 5 times in the past decade, and have never had a worse experience. I would STRONGLY ADVOSE using anyone else, including doing the work yourself, as our experience ended up costing us much MUCH more than we paid for the service ($14,000 BTW...)

First Major Issue: 22 Days Late

We had several quotes for full service moving (full packing, moving, unloading, and treadmill service). We chose Allied due to the fact that they had "availability" and could get us into our home 2 - 6 days after our load day. Giving us a month to get settled in before our planned summer vacation. Not only did our things take 30+ days to arrive, we had ZERO visibility to when they would arrive. We lived for 4 weeks on hard floors, air mattresses, dining out, and little entertainment for our kids (we have a 3 and 5 year old btw...). The delay also resulted in us cancelling out July 4th family vacation, as we only brought a weeks worth of items.

2nd Major Issue: Many Items Never Showed Up!

After half of our summer, and missed holiday were spent on hardwood floors and camping chairs our moving day arrived... We were sooo relieved. That was until the movers completed the unloading and we did not have any of our living room couches, our dining table, or our treadmill. So our floor living continues.... We are now 8 days past the unpack date, and still have no idea when these critical pieces of furniture will arrive. It turns our our couches were shipped to Michigan, and our other times never left Houston (our move was from Texas to Tennessee)... I have reached our via LinkedIn to Sr. Leadership who have been completely unresponsive, and all I can get out of the Customer Service group is that "they are working on it."

3rd Major Issue: More damage than any other move in the past

I do understand that some damage can be done in transit, but we had about 10 boxes that look like they were left in the rain (mold growing on the inside) after sitting water logged in the Texas, or Tennessee, or Michigan heat for weeks and weeks.

We are now asking that we be reimbursed for a UHAUL and gas, so that I can drive 10 hours to Michigan to pick up my own things... Otherwise, we are running the risk of not having seating or dinning furniture in place when family is scheduled to visit in August...

YOU WILL LOSE OUT ON MONTHS OF YOUR LIFE, AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF $$$ IF YOU ARE MOVING ACROSS STATES WITH ALLIED.

Long-distance move from Naples, FL to Saratoga Springs, NY

I would never use Allied again.

I would never use Allied again. If you are looking for an interstate move DO NOT use them.

After months of back and forth with Allied, I now know why so many people hate moving companies. They are dishonest.

I won’t get into the details of what happened – it’s the same back and forth crap you will see 1,000’s of other people complain about on-line. Let’s just say that once they have your money your chances of winning a dispute are slim. I think I am just going to get rid of all my stuff if I move again. It’s so expensive, I think I would rather invest in new stuff than place any faith in a moving company.

If you are in Florida avoid Best Moving & Storage. I ended up speaking with the general manager on the phone – discourteous and unhelpful. As my local mover, they sold the move, took my money and then just pointed the finger at Allied and told me to go work it out with them.

Price Gouging

We had contact Allied Van movers for a move from Massachusetts to Arizona. We were contacted by marathon movers and Raythemover.net. The mover stated they worked for Allied. We were speaking with Mike, and who stated he was the move consultant. We explained that we had our furniture in storage and we didn’t have an exact weight they estimated around 6000 pounds when it went in storage, the consultant came back with 11,500 pounds. We told him that we were not comfortable signing an estimate contract with that amount due to it was closer to 6000 pounds, per the consultant he stated do not worry about what is listed on the contract. He stated when the furniture was removed from storage that it would be weighed at that point, and we would be issued a refund for any over payment and a new estimate of service and charges would be given. He assured us that we would not have to be liable for anything over the weight it was a price guaranteed. He stated they were doing this because they needed an exact weight for the shipment and as it was in storage, we were unable to give them an exact wait. Though we gave them the estimated weight of what we were given when it was put into storage. He said, don’t worry, this is a guesstimate. It will all be refunded if it’s over.

They charged us $11,977.01. On August 11 they charged our credit card in full but did not pick up the load until August 14. We were never given an updated weight or an updated estimate of services and charges. On August 28 when the shipment finally arrived in Arizona we were told that the actual weight of the shipment was 4640 pounds they over estimated by 6860 pounds.

On that date all we were told is that we would be getting a refund which would be issued through Allied. Finally on September 5. We received an email from Allied’s move coordinator who stated that we would be getting a refund of $1715. That rate was based on their refund of $.25 per pound. We explained that we were charged $1.04 a pound when they initially took the order.

We were then told that that was our problem because we signed for it.even though we explained the move consultant, Mike assured us that it would be weighed and we would be notified prior to shipping,

I have filed a grievance with the department of transportation for price gouging. I do not see how anyone can think by overcharging by 6860 pounds @ $1 .04 is reasonable. This is more than we are disgruntled over having to pay for an additional 100 or 200 pounds, at this point they are not concerned at all. They never even bothered to apologize for the extreme difference of what the shipment weighed and what they charged.

Long-distance move from Texas to Arizona

TX to AZ - via Allied Van Lines.

The team arrived early and picked up my items within 5 hours. The price was competitive with the other major van lines; however, they were able to offer a faster turn-around time from pick-up to delivery.  Our items arrived without damage. Overall, a job well done.  .

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

I would do it again.

I would use Victory/Allied again.  They moved my 5 bedroom house across the county with no damage.  they were on-time and on budget.  usually the only people that post reveiw are unhappy.  I am happy.  The driver was professional and his help was dressed in uniform.  they conducted a detailed inventory and made sure everything was accounted for.  if I had to make another move, I would chose Victory/Allied.

Local move within North Carolina

Horrible Company.

I hired Allied Van Lines to transport my properties only 300 miles across the State of NC. My move was one that was unexpected, so was a last minute planning situation. Allied was the only company available to move my property at the time I needed my items moved. I thought I was hiring a reputable company. However, what I received was unprofessional workers who destroyed a significant amount if my properties. When the movers arrived, I was assured by the foreman that items packed by the company would be pack and stored in a way that my properties would not ensue damages. What I received with their services were; broken items, mislabeled boxes, fragile items that were not packed properly with insulated materials. After opening a couple boxes and discovering damaged items, I chose to not further unpack any more boxes until I had spoken with Allied. I attempted to file a claim with the company for damaged properties. I had to call the company on many different occasions to finally physically speak with a person. After speaking with this representative, it took several conversations before I could get an adjuster to come to my home to evaluate the damages. In the interim of waiting, I was without use of many of my properties, because any break in the integrity of the packed boxes would be viewed as damages sustained by the owner of properties. The adjusted came to my home, after several weeks of back and forth conversations with Allied. The adjuster took many pictures of unopened boxes and then pictures of items inside the boxes that were opened in the presence of the adjuster. What was found inside these boxes were more improperly stored items, damaged items, and many of the boxes were mislabeled. Furthermore, Boxes I had packed and labeled as fragile were crammed by Allied people under boxes labeled as books.
When the movers unloaded my properties into my new home, they damaged walls and my staircase.

There is much more to share but not enough character spacing to write all that I experienced. The final outcome of my claim resulted in the company sending me a letter to say my payment for damaged items would total around $30.00, because I did not purchase property insurance. However, damaged properties far more exceeded this proposed amount. Had I known that this company was soooooo horrible, I would not have purchase any and all insurance available. Again, this was a last minute move and had to make many decisions within 72 hours. I have hired other moving companies under similar situations and never have I received such unprofessional and poor service. Word to the wise, run far away from Allied Van Lines.

Signed: disgusted.
