Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Brooklyn, NY

Not sure what service the broker does. Just hire the moving company.

AllPro Moving group has an interesting business model. Their sales rep will talk to you all nice and tell you all the "perks" you get, like 30 day waived storage and waived shuttle fees based, but the moment you sign the initial payment, the service is actually completed by a contracted mover. In my case they paired me with Executive Moving and Storage (rated 1 star on Yelp across 31 reviews). I realized at this point that I was screwed. AllPro doesn't actually do anything (they middleman a sales fee and tell you to just call the moving company if you have any problems) and drive business to companies with terrible service level commitments. The moving company they hired did delivered my goods 5 weeks late, charged extra for storage, and extra upon delivery for a shuttle (which my AllPro rep said I woudln't need!). I had to call the moving company 3-4 times a week as they kept delaying the move. To top it off, furniture was scuffed and parts lost. The problem is AllPro exists to "clean up" the image of its moving company partners, obviously I wouldn't pick a mover with 1 star, but AllPro can just link you up with garbage.

Just do more research than I did, maybe don't use a broker, don't assume the rate is what they quote you on the phone, and definitely don't use AllPro, because you're worst case get a 1-star mover actually handle your move.

Hello,
We are sad to hear you had this type of experience, based on our 4 out of 5 star rating on this site, that is never our intention. In reviewing your file, the carrier is to compensate you for the late delivery during the holidays. All Pro has a broker and Carrier division, your particular move which was scheduled during a busy time of the year was sent to one of our network carriers. From our stand point we were in constant communication with you throughout the entire process and did everything we could to get your items delivered in a timely fashion. If you need any assistance with getting in touch with the carrier please reach out to our customer service team.

Long-distance move from Cabazon, CA to San Antonio, TX

Long Distance Move From Cabazon, CA to San Antonio TX.

Great Service Overall for me and my family. These guys helped me in my worst ever relocation situation. I hired the company in December 2019 to move me and my family for work. I was supposed to get my items delivered to me on 1/15/20 in TX. When I got to TX Monday 1/13/20 to get my keys, there was an issue with the association. There was a board approval pending the lease agreement. This floored me as I am an HR Director and had this buttoned up in December. All Pro worked with me and helped put my stuff in storage for a week, and delivered everything in mint condition 2 days ago on Thursday. Granted I chose to pack myself (I'm in HR not Moving) so some Ikea dishes broke, whatever. I'm thankful that this error between the HOA/Real Estate Agent did not impact my move or price! So I'm writing to give them accolades! They went above and beyond for me, my family, and my move! Thank You Chris! Guillermo my team lead or foreman guy was AMAZING!!

Long-distance move from Alexandria, VA to Chicago, IL

Horrible.

This has been the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a business.

I needed to move from Northern VA to Chicago IL for a work project. I called in and spoke with a representative who educated me on the difference between a carrier and a broker as well as some other moving guidelines I was unaware of. She was very clear that they were a CARRIER that just had a broker’s license for a few states that were out of their range like Hawaii.

I signed on Dec.13. I repeatedly mentioned that I needed delivery on or before Dec. 23 as I was going on vacation for Christmas. I also mentioned that my building has strict moving rules. We have to reserve an elevator and schedule the move at least 72 hours ahead or they would charge a fee and could refuse to accommodate the move. She said though she couldn’t guarantee a delivery date as that was against regulations but most moves took 5-7 business days and this definitely would not be a problem. Per my quote I paid a $598 deposit to All Pro and was supposed to pay $420 on pick up and another $420 on delivery.

My things were picked up Dec.18th I was told I was going to receive a call the night before pickup so I could prepare. I did not. I received a call from the driver when he was 30 minutes away from the storage unit. I did not make a big deal out of it and went to meet the driver. The pickup and drop off prices went up to $463 each. I said fine and tipped them $100 to get my stuff there safe and on time.

For the next two and a half weeks I emailed, text messaged, and called trying to get an ETA on the move and to make sure the movers knew about my building requirements. I talked to countless people and they all said it would be fine.

On Jan 15 almost a month from the pickup date I received a call around 5:30 saying they were going to make the delivery the next morning. I said that’s impossible because as I’ve said in all my emails, calls, and texts my building has rules and I need to reserve the elevator as well as register the move. It was after business hours at this point so I could not even call the building to see if I could talk my way into an exception plus I was not even in town. He seemed confused and I got the feeling it was his first time hearing about this at all. I reviewed everything with him and he said he would call base and figure it out, he may have to do it at the end of the route or they would have to drop it off to another company or something. We were both very clear it could not happen tomorrow.

The next day I get a call bunch of calls from them around noon. I call back and he tells me he is 30 minutes away and asks where I want him to put my stuff. I was confused as we just spoke about this was not possible last night. We were both very clear and at no time did he declare his intent to just try and make the delivery anyway. As the conversation progressed it got progressively more rude until a friend that was with me decided to start recording because she was shocked at his tone and behavior. Finally he said I had 20 minutes to figure out or he would leave my stuff on the floor in my lobby or on the curb. In a panic I called my building and begged them to facilitate this delivery as I did not want my things thrown away or stolen. They agreed as long as I paid the $600 unscheduled move in fee. The driver then told me I had to pay the balance first electronically as I was not in town. I refused as I could not verify my furniture was actually there or undamaged. I told him I would transfer the balance the next day when I got back into town. He refused and said he was going to put my things in storage at MY expense.

I immediately call All Pro’s emergency number and explain the situation- they tell me someone will get back to me as soon as possible. As you can probably guess no one got back to me. For the next couple days I call and email trying to get an update on the status of my move and a location of my things. Finally I get a call back and they basically tell me if I have to pay an additional $1200 to get my things delivered.

At this point I’m done. I despise being taken advantage of and luckily I come from a family of lawyers who hate when businesses try hiding shady practices behind a contract. This whole thing has been such a nightmare and just a never-ending headache that I decided to leave it to the professionals. I retained legal counsel and they plan to file complaints with the DOT, BBB, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin, and ASMA. They are requesting my contract with both companies and plan to pursue it as they believe I have a case under Chicago regulations and statutes.

I’ve been more than reasonable and accommodating throughout this situation and though they have admitted and are clearly at fault they have made no attempt to rectify or take responsibility for the mistakes.

All I can say is SAVE YOURSELF. I would have been much better off just selling or donating all my things to Salvation Army.

Official company response

Hello Mary,
We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience. We understand how stressful moving can be, our intention is to make sure the process is a smooth as possible. However, after doing some research on your move and reading the notes that date back to 12/11/2019 until current I found some issues. Anytime we move to a major City such as, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston there anyways needs to be great communication between ourselves and the consumer. In many cases these cities require shuttle trucks, and certain building have strict requirements as to move in time frames. Reservations needs to be made, such as elevator, loading dock, time frames during the day that new tenants can move in. All Of this is gone over in a verification call which was completed before your first payment is ran. This is also reiterated during the call with Quality Assurance prior to pickup.
Now, it shows you claim to be guaranteed a delivery date by the representative which I pulled the sales call and did not find. The 12/23 was the date we were striving for but could not make a guarantee, nor do we ever in the moving industry. This is why our contract allows up to 21 business days. Things happen on the road, unfortunately in your case the truck had an issue.

(Note on file 12/16)-Carrier said they will definitely try to get the goods delivered before the holiday. More than likely it should be okay but they cannot guarantee anything.

Calling cx to see what she wants to do

(Note also 12/16) LVM for Mary letting her know that the carrier said as long as weather doesn`t cause any issues it`s likely for delivery to take place on time but we need to know ASAP if she wants us to schedule this carriers truck for PU tomorrow afternoon.

Waiting on cb.

(Later on the 16th) Haven`t heard back from the customer yet but the carrier contacted me back stating the cx told them directly that she wants to reschedule the move and she will contact them with a date.
(12/20)P/U follow up- pick up went well and FADD IS THE 23RD -customer is calling office to have form sent to change date-
FADD- First available Delivery date-this is when the delivery spread starts. (This should have been signed off my the customer ASAP as instructed)
The change of date was the real curve ball that was thrown into the move. As well as the truck having issues. Furthermore this is a very challenging time of the year to meet specific dates due to weather and the holidays.
Any time a customer voices an issues we always do our best to rectify the situation within reason. All of the situations that occurred during Mary's move are listed in the contract which Mary signed off on and agreed upon.
However, Due to the circumstances on our end, compensation was offered to Mary as sign of good faith and not responsibility. If any further questions need assistance please contact our customer service department

Long-distance move from Omaha, NE to Scottsdale, AZ

They did not show up, they don’t want to refund $1044 Dow payment.

On December 17th, the week of the move they call me to check the inventory. They charged me $300 more, even though it was going to be fewer items.
The day before the move, I called them to confirm when exactly they would arrive. I was informed it would be the 21st, which was not the agreed upon window. I told them this was unacceptable as I have to drive my car 23 hours to my new place and show up to work on Monday.
The manager of All pro moving group Jake Walker (who was extremely unprofessional) couldn’t give me an explanation, and just said the truck can’t make it. There was no inclemental weather or something. I asked him if they couldn’t make it, release me from the agreement and give me the money back. He said NO, then proceeded to yell at me saying that it wasn’t his fault. He tried to say if I wasn’t willing to give them more time I could cancel the service at my expense. After he finally stopped yelling on the phone, he told me he will call me to give me some updates about the service.
He never called back. I got ahold of Shannon and told her that Saturday would have to work because I was out of options. She assured me a mover would be there Saturday. I call them on Friday December 20, at least 30 times to confirm the service nobody answered or returned my phone calls. I waited for them on Saturday December21, they never showed up! Now they don’t want to give me my money back arguing I haven’t call them, they never answered any phone call during the weekend!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Your move was during a challenging time of the year, many families are looking to get settled before the holidays. This can unfortunately back things up as far as delivery dates. We did our best to accommodate your needs as well as offer compensation for the hold up.
You would need to contact customer service regarding the above matter.

Long distance nightmare worth $5500.00.

You cannot trust what they tell you. I chose this moving company because I was told they would take care of my move in a timely manner. When customer service called me back and they told me my move could take anywhere from 4 to 14 days, I asked for my deposit back. I was called back and reassured that their manager was guaranteeing my delivery date. When it came to moving day(Saturday), they showed up on a uhaul..and had a contract from another carrier. I was also told at that time if they had to use anything extra(including tape) I would have to pay for it. I called customer service again, and once again I was reassured that the carriers they were using could be trusted. I called on delivery day (Thursday) to get an ETA, they said they would get ahold of the dispatcher and call me back. A couple of hours later their manager called me to say that my belongings would be arriving Saturday or Sunday. I requested to speak to her superior and she stated "I'm it" there is noone else here..I proceeded to request to speak with her boss..and she replied "you will never speak to my boss". I then asked for a refund or discount..she said she did not know if that was possible. I am writing this review on a Saturday evening..because I still do not have my belongings and they have not contacted me..

Misinformed.

My family is relocating from AZ to TX. I received a call from an agent from All Pro who seemed extremely knowledgeable & was eager to cooperate and accommodate my needs. I expressed I was on a thin budget, had received several calls, gotten several quotes from $1400 up to $9000. This was new territory for me & I could not understand why the price range was so different. I further explained I didn't have any furniture. We were only moving boxes of clothing & kitchen items.

I was given a final quote of $1400. And asked to have the paperwork sent to me. Because I've never hired a mover before,I read the paperwork thoroughly to ensure there were no hidden fees as I had heard horror stories. Upon reading the documents, I saw verbiage that explained I could be charged additional fees for just about anything; including the amount of stairs they movers had to climb. The paperwork also read as if my negotiated price of $1400 was an estimate and if I was asked to pay more, I would have to call the customer service number to inquire further details.

Another item that stood out was my move could be handled by a broker. When in my initial conversation it was expressed that I was not dealing with a broker.

When I bought these concerns to the attention of the person I was speaking to, his email response was somewhat rude. He went as far to say, "We don't work for free". Even though I never said they did nor expected them to. I found it very uncomfortable to have such a rebuttal to what I thought were valid concerns. As a consumer, it its my right to question anyone that I solicit with the intent to pay them for a service.

Between reading some of the most recent incidents and the interaction with the company's representative. I believe I saved myself a lot o f headache and frustration by not using this company.

Official company response

Hello,
Sorry to hear you did not fell comfortable or felt the sales representative was harsh. After reading the notes on the file and pulling calls I found that the rep went above and beyond to try to assist you. Just seems a full service mover is not in the budget for you. Looks like you were only moving 35 boxes and 2 t.v so I can understand why some might feel this is expensive. Keep in mind the distance you were looking to travel was over 1000 miles. We, and every mover has a detailed contract, which protects both parties. Unfortunately it has to be this way due to the amount of people looking for any reason to file a claim or come after a company. As far as brokering jobs every, every full service mover is a broker. If you look up some of the major carrier in the industry on the DOT it will show as broker/Carrier, just like ourselves. This is for cases where one of our trucks cannot service the area, or an unforeseen issue on the road, cancellation that threw off driver routes, etc. It also shows here the rep got your price lower then the company standard as far as money required for this type of route. Most Mini moves (286 cubic feet) like yours, range from $1500-1900 traveling over 1k miles. That being said there was no reason for you to comment on here. Its obvious the real restraint to your move was your financial position.
-Good day.

Scam Artists.

Their operation is simple but sad, they will go over your inventory list over the phone which will calculate your belongings at a smaller then usual size giving you a really low quote (Which in my case they "accidentally" left of the 20 boxes I said I would have) then request your deposit to hold the move. Well 3 days before the move they call to go over actual dimensions and that's were everything changes. All I added was a queen platform bed and that's when they informed me they didn't figure any boxes the first time around, which makes no sense because how many moves are there with zero boxes. Anyways a queen platform bed and 20 boxes double my move size which makes no sense and now my cost went from $2500 to $6500. Plus they added language in the contract about if you cancel within 5 days of the move your deposit is non refundable. So now i'm out $1000 deposit and thankfully I went to an actual reputable company because they also inform you days before you move it could take 21 days to get your belonging compared to the 5 days I was originally told.

Also don't believe any of these 5 star reviews are actual people who used the company.

We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience. We are a honest and forthcoming company and any time a customer voices an issue, we always do our best within reason to make to situation right. Flawless move and a professional team.

I recently moved from Pompano Beach to Atlanta to be closer to my parents that are getting older. As a single mother I appreciated the professionalism that the All Pro team offered during the planning and moving process.

I never felt any stress regarding the move and the cost was quite reasonable.

The manager Dylan was especially responsive and helpful during the process when I had any questions. There were no additional costs racked onto the move either.

Good move overall.

My move from South Beach to Manhattan went well last month. I got a promotion with my firm. The cost was fair. The only issue I had is that I was charged for several flights of stairs. My apartment is in a fifth floor walkup. I wasn’t really clear on the additional charges when the initial estimate was presented to me. All Pro worked with me in a compromise and removed some of the associated fees which I appreciated. Overall a smooth moving experience.
