Warning do not use Ace Removals

Unprofessional, unorganised, arrived on site with without the correct equipment-

Trolley blankets etc, lazy work ethic looking at their phone regularly and when I complain to their boss he was incredibly rude, arrogant and basically told me if you don’t want them cancel the job.

Terrible attitude when they know you need to be out of the property on the day - almost like holding you to ransom.

Finally the staff need a lesson in personal hygiene and the use of deodorant.

There are more professional removalist out there.

Do not use ACE as they are NOT ACE and incredibly expensive.

My worst move ever! Think twice before using this company.

I have done several moves (1+) but this one was the worst of the worst - a true nightmare!

I provided ACE MOVERS with a full list of packed items to be moved prior and requested a quote. The original quote estimate with a 12 ton truck and two persons provided by ACE MOVERS was 6-9 hours for a max cost of ~ $1500. The move took a total of 20 hours to get the job done (13 hours with 2 men and 7 hours with 4 men, two men were sent at 10pm to finish the job on the day which the former 2 were tasked to do in a max of 9 hours) at a cost of $4732 (more than 3 times the original cost, and 4 times the original time, quoted)!

What went wrong?

1. The 4 men, though young, were totally exhausted working 20 + hours and hence totally inefficient in their work. They left at 5 am to go on their next job at 6am having spent 20+ hours on my job and having previously finished their job with another customer at 11pm the previous day (with the other two at 9pm same day)! How can men, even young, operate without sleep and food?

2. Whether consciously or unconsciously, the men applied the standard delaying tactics to increase chargeable hours - 1+ hours to get from loading to unloading destination (not more than 15 min apart), and coming up with blatant excuses - cannot get a park, got lost in the journey, blocked driveway, slow lifts, proper truck stacking... etc.

End result - frustrated customer conned into an estimate which turned out to be more expensive, and took 4+ times longer, than other fixed professional quotes. Plus a neighbourhood which were woken up in the middle of the night complaining about how such a move was allowed in such hours! One small positive - no missing items or significant breakages (hence the 1 star). Zero value for money (0 stars). Never again!

Will break all your stuff and deny liability

Scammers beware. Others who have had genuine bad experiences, please report to ACCC, If enough people complain they will get shut down.

Lost my keys, damaged an expensive table and managed to flood my appartment by not turning off a tap. To be advised bad luck, my problem. Extremely rude people. Beware if you use ace, you will be out $100s in damage with no support

Would rather do it myself

I am a very reasonable person. Using Ace Movers has been the worst experience i have ever had in dealing with a company. Avoid at all costs.

The movers were inexperienced.

They demanded payment half way through the move (basically holding our stuff in the truck at ransom) saying they weren’t leaving until we paid.

They damaged our washing machine.

They left a huge pile of our belongings at our rental. When i followed this up with the manager via phone and email (asking for 1.5 hours reimbursement) I was yelled at, abused and threatened. We were never provided with a receipt, and I’m convinced this was because we were overcharged (when bullied into paying on the spot).

I would have preferred to have done all the heavy lifting myself than to have dealt with this scam of a business.

ACE Movers Review

I hired Ace Movers for what should have been a simple move - 1.5 km, just 11 pieces of furniture. I chose them based on their high star rating, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the reviews at all.

One of our items - a fridge - ended up with a visible 6cm scratch. A part of our bed frame also went missing. And a large dresser was left behind entirely, with the movers telling us it was “too heavy” unless we paid extra to bring back more staff. No practical solution was offered while they were on-site. Later, I was able to move the same dresser myself with one other person - by simply removing the drawers. That alone speaks volumes about their willingness to help. So much for the professionalism.

We reported the issues shortly after unpacking, as it’s only during reassembly that you can spot missing parts or damage. Ace Movers refused to take responsibility, citing a 24-hour reporting window buried in their terms. From what I’ve since learned, that kind of policy may actually be an unfair contract term under Australian Consumer Law (Section 23).

They also failed to provide the service with due care and skill (Section 60). The movers were slow and disengaged, which felt like a tactic to stretch the job out for additional charges - not a team focused on delivering a smooth or professional service.

After multiple emails and legal references, they first offered $50. Eventually, they increased it to $100 - but only processed the refund after we followed up again a week later. Their final response was literally:

“Please find the receipt attached.”

No apology. No explanation. Just that. That message sums up the entire tone of our experience - dismissive and transactional.

TL;DR – Timeline of the $100 Refund:

- Move: 1.5 km, 11 furniture items

- Fridge scratched (6cm), bed part missing

- Dresser left behind; movers said it was “too heavy”

- I later moved it with one other person—no issue

- Reported damage after unpacking → refused due to 24-hour policy

- Offered $50 → pushed to $100

- Refund paid only after we followed up again

- Final message: “Please find the receipt attached.”

I hired this company based on the star rating alone. I regret not reading the detailed reviews first. My advice: dig deeper before trusting the numbers. Our experience was far from 5-star service.

Working damaged my property and refuse to take any responsibility

They broke my blue water hose at the back of my fridge plumber assessed and confirmed this(all proof shown to them) I needed to purchase a new part (invoice provided) they refused to take any responsibility. The workers didn’t even connect the fridge back up as they knew it was broken but have stated they didn’t connect the fridge back up as there wasn’t a water outlet (there is proof shown) and never said anything to me on the day.

They are just wiping their hands of this.

Disgusting customer service and extremely disappointing effort to help me fix a problem they cause due to being rough and not knowing what they are doing.

Terrible unprofessional ‘service’

Summary: terribly unprofessional, intentionally slow, no communication, no skill in safely moving belongings. I am left $500 out of pocket having unloaded most items myself and with many awkwardly shaped and sized items left in pickup location still needing to be moved myself as was truck packed inefficiently by the team.

I had a very disappointing experience with ace movers after selecting them due to positive reviews despite not being the cheapest quote I received.

I accommodated them changing the time the day prior to the move.

I move often with my job and this experience is was exceptionally poor.

The removalists who arrived were unprofessional, on telephone calls via headphones for most of the move. They took little care with my belongings and this resulted in damage to boxes marked fragile and sentimental handmade furniture.

They did not make appropriate use of space in the five tonne truck they recommended for my one bedroom house and announced simply that the truck was full and I would have to move the rest of my belongings myself (despite me having sold most bulky furniture prior to moving I.e no couch, tv unit or wardrobes). There was no attempt to disassemble any items. There was no communication prior about the possibility/concern of running out of space nor a question of which items to prioritise. I am certain if packed correctly and professionally everything would have fit within the truck.

It is impossible to give these men the benefit of the doubt that they were not intentionally and deliberately slow to exploit my time for their profit. I have never seen behaviour like this from professional movers before. My personal belongings were moved from room to room within the pickup location and at drop off I could personally offload a full moving trolley of belongings from the truck and then transfer and unpack it into the storage unit in the same time the two removalists took to offload only two boxes from the truck together onto a single trolley.

Finally the removalist was absolutely unprofessional and acted in an unnecessarily intimidating and unreasonable manner in demanding immediate(!) payment to bank details in a wAttsapp message on his phone screen whilst I was alone in the isolated corridor outside of my unit in the middle of unpacking a trolley. He would not accept that I finish unpacking the items on the trolley first and retrieve the cash payment from my car afterward. This was not approached in a professional way in good faith and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and vulnerable. There is no reason why this couldn’t have been asked politely and professionally in line with their service agreement of payment at 75% offloading in the public loading dock once I had completed unloading that single trolley of belongings.

Overall I am $500 out of pocket, spent most of the morning moving my own belongings and still have to organise the removal of the remaining items left behind at my pick up location.

Shocking removalist

I had a shit experience with the guys from Ace. Turned up an hour late. Both Indian gentleman stunk bad of BO. Spoke constantly in their native tongue and made sexually explicit jokes towards me.

Knew exactly what they were moving and showed up with a truck far too small. Kept telling me to “come and look” and they were doing their best to save me time and money.

Broke 2 of 4 legs of my TV unit and chipped a door. That had to go to the bin.

Damaged two large expensive framed pictures. Have been quoted almost $1,000 to repair.

Ruined the bottom of my buffet, cannot be fixed.

Damaged my son’s queen bed, that cannot be fixed so that frame went to the bin as well.

Damaged a tall boy - to the bin.

Took out drawers in my upholstered bed and never put them back in, got grease marks on each of the drawers that I can’t get out.

I was left going back and forth (same suburb) for hours afterwards and left so run down because of it. I’ve gotten so sick I’ve been in bed.

Didn’t bother to go back to Nick after reading these comments. Only booked with them as my GF used them and highly recommend them.

Last kicker… the main guy asked to borrow my phone for a few minutes to use maps as his phone died… turns out he left himself a 5 star review!!

Shitheads!!

Moved 1/3 of house in 7 hours

I am extremely disappointed in the value of the service I received. I was charged 7h for moving two truckloads less than one kilometre. I had stated that I had to move a 4bedroom house at time of booking so why they came with such a small truck is beyond me. I moved more than your men did in my van.

I moved all the boxes myself. The move was not finished in a day despite me doing the majority of the work. I had to return the next day to complete the move on my own. All up these guys moved approximately 1/3 of my house.

Then there is the fact that they did not give me a complete run down of costs following my booking meaning the moving team left in the uncomfortable position of having to reveal a number of hidden costs. I tried to resolve the concern with manager, Nick and we was rude and abusive so here’s his 1-star review hoping others don’t fall into the same trap.

ACE MOVERS ARE TERRIBLE - DO NOT HIRE THEM!

Charming when they quote you, rude once you hire them. The worst removalists, ever. Difficult to deal with. Constantly on their mobile phones when they should be working. They ask you to take items in your car so they have to. They drag their feet to extend your hire costs and work slower when you help. Manager Garry (not his real name) does not want to accept this is not a satisfactory business model. Be warned, do not use this service - ZERO STARS.
