MoveAdvisor publishes consumer reviews to help people research moving companies. This page explains how reviews are collected, how company ratings are calculated, and how the optional Bank Verified feature fits in.
How reviews work
- Reviews are submitted by consumers who have used a moving company’s services.
- Every review must be activated by email before it can appear on the site.
- All reviews — verified or not — go through the same automated filters and manual moderation. Reviews that do not meet our standards may be hidden or removed.
- Companies cannot pay to alter or remove genuine reviews. See our terms of service and Moving Reviews Guidelines for details.
How company ratings are calculated
A company’s displayed rating is based on published reviews from real customers. We combine star ratings from active, non-filtered reviews to produce an average score and review count shown on company profiles and in search results.
Ratings reflect the opinions of individual reviewers. MoveAdvisor does not endorse any particular review or moving company.
What is a Bank Verified review?
Reviewers may optionally pay a one-time fee of $5 USD to add a Bank Verified badge to their review.
The Bank Verified badge means only that the reviewer’s identity was confirmed through a successful card or bank payment at the time of submission. It does not mean that MoveAdvisor has verified the move took place, that the review content is accurate, or that we endorse the review.
What Bank Verified does and does not affect
- Does: Adds a visible Bank Verified badge on the published review.
- Does: Gives the review additional weight in our ranking and sorting calculations compared with a standard review of the same star rating.
- Does: May improve visibility in certain review listings where we surface verified reviews.
- Does not: Verify that the reviewer was an actual customer of the company reviewed.
- Does not: Guarantee publication, a particular star rating, or a specific ranking position.
- Does not: Bypass moderation. Bank Verified reviews are subject to the same editorial standards as all other reviews.
We disclose that verified reviews receive additional ranking weight, but we do not publish the exact formula or multiplier. The weighting may change over time as we refine our systems.
Negative reviews can be Bank Verified too
Bank Verified is not limited to positive reviews. A reviewer can verify a low-star or critical review the same way as a positive one. Payment is not conditioned on sentiment, and we do not offer verification only for favourable reviews.
What we do not endorse
MoveAdvisor does not explicitly endorse paid or Bank Verified reviews. The badge is a transparency label about identity verification via payment, not a guarantee that a review is fully authentic or truthful.
Moderation is the same for everyone
Whether a review is standard or Bank Verified, it must comply with our Moving Reviews Guidelines, Terms of Service (Section 3.1), and applicable law. Reviews may be filtered, hidden, or removed for the same reasons regardless of verification status.
