Do Not Trust This Moving Company.

Words cannot describe my disappointment with Wolfe Moving Systems.

The owner, Chris Wolfe, and I discussed my June move from a single family home to another single family home, apartment, or storage facility. I was very thorough with Mr. Wolfe about the transition, the amount of work, and the different furniture we had.  Prior to the move, Mr. Wolfe made 3 visits to my home to ensure he knew everything that needed to be done and gave me a detailed estimate of $3230, including packing costs. After Mr. Wolfe’s visits, I got rid of some furniture to make the move easier, including two sofa sets, a bedroom set, and many other accessories around the house.

On packing day, a team of 3 men worked for four hours. The team behaved incredibly unprofessionally. They took multiple extended breaks, one man even disappeared for the majority of the four hours and did very little work. Mr. Wolfe charged me for these breaks where no work was being done.  Another man repeatedly requested meals from my family.  After packing day, I spoke to Mr. Wolfe because I was concerned that the cost of the move would exceed the estimate. I told Mr. Wolfe verbatim “I understand that it is an estimate and it may go above, but here’s what I don’t want: the cost to come to $5000+ when we are done.” Mr. Wolfe replied that it would not, and guaranteed me multiple times that I should not worry about the cost. He stated “Oh it won’t be that much, I’ve been doing this for 30 years.”

On moving day, the team arrived at 8:15AM with two trucks and 5 men, as disclosed in the contract. Mr. Wolfe disregarded our previous agreement on organizing the truck by destination. Instead, he insisted his team load the truck with mixed items going to different places, and assured me that with his extensive experience of 30 years, the items will not get mixed up. This did not happen. His team wrongfully delivered large items, including mattresses and heavy boxes, to the incorrect locations. Important boxes that were crucial to us went to storage instead of the apartment. Further, Mr. Wolfe’s team did not move our bedroom set, desk, mattress, lamps, and other accessories. Mr. Wolfe claimed there was no space to fit them in either truck and left me with no resolution. (I ended up having to rent a truck and complete the move myself.) Mr. Wolfe’s team also damaged some of our furniture from carelessness, including our leather sofa.

At the end of the day, Mr. Wolfe presented us with a $5,048.00 invoice. Despite our repeated conversations about the cost of the move and Mr. Wolfe’s guarantees that it would not excessively exceed the estimate, that is exactly what happened. His invoice included furniture items that I had gotten rid of after his visits to my home and before the move. The invoice also included items that Mr. Wolfe failed to move because “there was no room on the truck.”  After further discussions, Mr. Wolfe negotiated with us and agreed on a price of $4025.00. Mr. Wolfe amended the invoice, wrote “$4025” on it and circled it. I maintain this invoice in my records. We paid Mr. Wolfe in full on the spot. Mr. Wolfe accepted this payment and left. The next day, Mr. Wolfe left a threatening voicemail on my phone, asserting that I owed him more money, despite his written negotiated price. Mr. Wolfe proceeded to cash the check in the following days. One week later, Mr. Wolfe continued to impose his cheap gimmicks on us and sent us an additional invoice. This invoice, beyond being miscalculated and incorrect, claims that Mr. Wolfe is owed an additional $1080, despite us paying the agreed negotiated price in full.  Mr. Wolfe’s threatening voicemails are saved and available as a warning for anyone thinking of hiring this company. I would not recommend Wolfe Moving Systems to anyone. Choose well, be well, do not be a victim of this CON ARTIST.

Frederick Movers.

They worked fast and hard, and drove quickly from one location to the next. However, they did some damage to our condo and our furniture when they ignored our advice not to move a large piece of furniture down a narrow hallway. We also never got the 3% cash payment discount they promised, but the overall rate was quite affordable. They also did a free pre-move inspection to help refine the quote before we even committed to using their company.

Long-distance move from Maryland to West Virginia

Reply because this site has no company responds.

I am replying to the review move from Maryland to West Virginia job we did. This is a great example of a customer that should have had an in home estimate. My girl in the office set this job up. If we did an in home estimate the problems would have never happened. My movers tryed to help this customer take apart a pressed wood bookcase. Something that in most cases we don't do. In the contract it states that we do not cover pressed wood items at all. Why might you ask. Because they are not made to be moved. The mover tryed to do something for the customer because the bookcase would not come out of the door unless it was apart. In taking it apart the bookcase feel apart. Hitting a window and breaking it.. In most cases of this I would not have covered even half of the damaged window. The customer said theyy would give a bad review if we didn't pay for it all. So they did what they said they were going to do. But these sites don't allow the reviewed to reply. This needs to change.   Have a mover do an in home estimate when ever you can. If will make for a better move. We really want happy customers.  Chris .

Our move with Wolfe Moving Systems.

The only problem with the delivery (and I don't consider it a big one) was that we have a container for our olive oil that was not sealed (by us or by the movers) and it leaked in the box BUT nothing was ruined. Other than that minor thing, we were very impressed with the speed and care given to our belongings. .
