Universal relocations provided a door to door moving package which was seamless and very easy. Their sales and packing/pick up team do a fabulous job. Their support team provides regular updates and then the destination country team help with customs and final delivery.

I recently relocated from USA to India. I wanted to move my extra baggage such as some expensive kitchen utensils, Crockery, Toys and some photo frames through cost effective means.

I did considered multiple quotes and finally decided to go ahead with Universal Relocation.

To begin with sales person was very helpful explaining different available options. I decided to go ahead with individual boxes.

Once payment was done boxes were picked up by fedex next day, and dispatched to NJ.

I received periodic updates from my move coordinator Huzzaina regarding status of my boxes.

It took around 3 months for door to door delivery. Since I packed boxes I did not opt for insurance.

I received Everything in pretty good condition except couple of broken oxo boxes due to weight.

I will highly recommend if you are looking to send your extra baggage through sea instead of carrying along with you in flight.

This was my second time using Universal, the first was a local movement whereas this time I was moving household goods for a family of 4 to Delhi, India from Jersey City, NJ. My experience right from the stage of price estimate to the final delivery this week in India has been perfect. They have beaten by skepticism at every step by delivering as promised. My stuff reached Delhi after having travelled inland from Chennai. It took slightly over 3 months but this is at a time when shipping schedules globally are all over the place due to covid. The best part is that you get regular updates (every Friday) even while your goods are in transit and of course interim updates at every process step (dispatch, reaching destination port, Custom clearance etc). I believe these timely updates make a world of difference to the customer experience. My goods including a TV (a 55inch curved, not packed in manufacturer's box but a Home depot box and put into a crate) mattresses and boxes carrying fragile items as well reached in perfect condition.

My sincere most thanks to the team including Pallavi, Huzaina, Sandhya, Saravanan, Sinthuja for their high standards of prompt service delivery at every stage. Needless to say I will chose Universal Relocations a third time as well whenever needed.

Moved from USA to India recently. Sent 5 boxes through Universal relocations. The process is cool as far as you are sending the boxes with the weight and size limitations they have mentioned. Payment has to be made on time given, else they will add penalty charges. They cost me $500 for shipping and Rs.5000 for port charges. Boxes reached in good condition. Door to door delivery is another key thing to keep customer happy. Pallavi from USA initiated and helped the process there. Huzaina from India helped us a lot starting from sharing the shipment status every week and since the boxes reached the port till it reached our home. Thank you so much for making the movement easy.

I get to know about Universal Relocation from my friends. I was suggested by them that Universal Relocations do house hold shipping to India. I gave 3 stars to UR based on my experience and provided (good/bad/improvement) details with reasons:-

Good thing about UR-

- Prompt response over mail/phone.

- Timely pickup of items.

- Timely Updates about the shipping status

- Customer care is responsive but providing solutions at instant is not in their hand while goods are in transit. Mine shipment took 5 months to reach my home.

- Custom clearance is taken care by UR (don't know about electronics items as I had not shipped them)

- Local delivery is on time in India.

- Delivery men deliver goods in home if it's Ground/1st Floor.

- Items were not missing for my shipment and that's one good thing too. I received all my 9 boxes.

Not Good/To Improve:-

- UR should provide service of packaging with some charges reason for that they are the expert in logistic and they know how to package household items like glass/steel/clothes/crockery etc.

- Weight limit of 25kg with box size of 18cmX24cm doesn't fit all the items, reason for that my 4 boxes were crushed so badly in shipping that goods were peeping out.

- There is no option of fragile item handling, due to this few glass/crockery items were broken and scattered in the box even though wrapping it under thick blanket.

- Handling of boxes are not up to the mark, one of my box was crushed so badly, that, new non-stick biryani pot bent and I have get it fixed.

Suggestion - I know it's COVID time and the service you provide it makes tough. Please have a look to the improvement part I had suggested above, it will bring more confidence to the customers.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1300

We booked Universal door to door service from Seattle, Washington to Pune, India in the midst of Covid-19 situation. We packed everything securely in the specified boxes (heavy duty large). We had 20 boxes, which were loaded in the FedEx truck on the date and time promised. FexEx driver first refused to take large boxes which caught us off guard, but later he loaded everything nicely. Universal staff was constantly in touch with us throughout the shipment. They kept giving us regular updates about location of the shipment. When the shipment reached India, we had to send our original passports to Universal office in Chennai. Universal cleared the customs on our behalf with the help of our passports. We got the passports back safely after customs clearance. Our stuff was delivered without any damage in 2 weeks after custom clearance. Especially the delicate kitchen items were intact. Delivery staff was courteous and took due care in moving the boxes from parking to the first floor of the building. Door to door delivery took total 3.5 months. Overall we are satisfied with their service and would recommend it to anyone wanting to move from US to India.

I used Universal Relocations to move 9 boxes including TV from Dallas to Chennai. It took around 3 months [Dec 2020 - Mar 2021] . Kris answered all my questions around the quote & shipping procedures. Huzaina was keeping me updated with weekly status emails. Feeling relieved that we got everything back safe. Very happy with Universal Relocations for the door-to-door delivery. Would definitely recommend them.

Few things to note while shipping to India:

1) Avoid packing any items that can potentially break. No use crying over spilt milk.

2) If your current passport is relatively new, make sure that you keep you older passport with you in hand since you will be required to submit all of them for port clearance in India. Required for "Transfer of Residence" status.

3) Port authorities will open the boxes. 7 out of my 9 boxes were opened. So pack in such a way that they can easily put them back without damaging other items. You cannot expect them to be very considerate. In my case, I was fortunate that nothing got stolen/broken.

4) When your shipment nears India, you might get spammed by fake emails & calls from Fedex asking for KYC. Stay away from sending photocopy of your passports to them

5) Keep receipts of all your electronic items. The form that you fill in US does not require all the individual details. But the form that you fill for clearance in India requires you to fill all electronic items, their age, buying cost.

6) Weigh your boxes multiple times before dispatching.

7) Packing the household in US was an emotional affair as we didn't want to discard any items. But we get used to not having these items in India since the shipment takes 90 days. The house in India is also much smaller, hence when these items arrived, we do ask ourselves if we really needed to have shipped them. So pack wisely.
