Trucks on Call Moving and Storage

FRAUD Alert, if you want your stuff stolen, damaged or even held ransom, then please go ahead and hire these crooks.
TRUCKS ON CALL will send you an initial quote for the WEIGHT of your stuff and on the day of your move (after packing your stuff and loading in the truck) increase or double it claiming that it takes too much space.
They will then hold your stuff random until you pay in cash - which seems shady as that shows proof of 'creative' accounting practices. They damaged alot of our items, lost a box, and broke many items (we hired a full pack so the movers packed everything)
When you file the claim with their insurance company, they reject it or offer you pennies.
I also believe they hire illegal immigrants - our movers didn't speak any english and freaked out when we threatened to call the cops.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2845

This is by far the worst company of any kind I have ever dealt with. There are so many issues, it would take a novel to list them all, but it pretty much boils down to zero communication skills, zero customer service skills, zero concern for anything but their bottom dollar, and unconscionable decisions that put their movers at risk for health
Communication was fine until after they snagged my business--completely absent after that. Email requests for information and updates were not acknowledged, much less responded to. Phone calls were avoided or answered by rude, unprofessional staff, in particular Alex and Sam, who argued with me about various details of the storage and delivery. In one instance, speaking with the supervisor Matteo, I mentioned that the company needed to improve their customer service skills, and he flat out told me I was not a customer, I was just someone they wanted to be done with!!
The team that picked up my household goods came two hours after the latest time of their estimated arrival. When they arrived, I learned they had already been working 12 hours!! Isn't there a labor law about this? So, I get a tired, weary crew, who only wanted to rush through the job to get home. The word "fragile" meant nothing to them, as they tossed boxes onto their dolly and put heavy boxes on top of lighter ones marked "fragile." One mover loaded my antique breakfront, and I watched in horror as it almost toppled off the dolly as he went over the threshold. This, despite my specific request for special handling of this item. Similarly, when I took delivery of my items, only two movers came, which would have been fine if I didn't have a pool table and an upright piano. Their supervisor was presumably not able to secure additional help, so he (the supervisor) told the movers to go out and find someone to help them. More than half of my plastic bins were damaged, and the boxes were stacked upside down, so not only could I not see the label, things like lamps and glassware were scrambled inside. They did not honor their contract terms by reassembling items at the final destination. The driver put one bed together, but he was late for another delivery (because he had to take 1 1/2 hours to recruit more help) and because he said he did not have the skill to re-assemble a pool table.
Oh, did I mention the actual cost was $2K over the estimate? They did not do a pre-move survey presumable to save money so relied on me to tell them how many boxes I had, and of course, they came up with a different number because they said my boxes were bigger and took up more cubic feet of space than was estimated.
So many other details that I could share, but you get the gist. If I could, I would sue this company for medical expenses, as I am sure I was starting to get an ulcer due to experience. I will settle for this review and a report to BBB, along with compensation for any damaged items that I am likely to find due to their reckless handling of my property.
I urge all potential movers to stay away from Trucks on Call!!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5100

I wish I could give a negative star. Highly unprofessional. We scheduled them to pick up our belongings on sunday, they never showed, next day they said their truck broke down, then after that there was no truck in the area. They finally pick it up wednesday, and we were over charged about 700 dollars more, the movers who picked it up were nice, I have no complaint with them. It is now Thursday, we were told today was the first available delivery date. So we were hoping it would be today, I called in to ask the dispatch customer service, and she was rude and unprofessional. She told us yes it could have been today but it'll take 10 days now instead of the days we were originally told. After she said that, all I did was confirm that it wouldn't be today and she pretended she couldn't hear me and she hung up on me. It was rude and she has hung up on us more then once. We just moved states away, and are typically patient people but its going 5 days past when we were originally suppose to have our stuff, and its getting ridiculous. Would not recomend this company to any one. They obviously don't give two craps about customer service. Will eventually be reporting them to the better business bureau.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2129

I had a complicated move and all I wanted was transparency from this company but they continuously failed to do that. I would call and leave messages for the dispatch supervisor, Mateo, and he would never call me back. After paying the first deposit and “confirming” your move you can’t look at your estimate ever again. I would call and ask for them to send me my inventory after they moved my stuff and they would never send it. I didn’t even really know what was being moved until it arrived at my new house.
The worst part for me was my stuff came 5 days after my requested drop off day. Nobody at Trucks on Call bothered to tell me that my stuff hadn’t left the facility on the truck until I had arrived and had no furniture to sleep on.
They made this move way more complicated than it should have been and they’ve DEFINITELY don’t deserve your money.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2647

The major thing to remember when you have them move you is that they will 'lose' your stuff, especially if it is not in a box. Things like ladders, large plush toys, vacuum cleaners. etc. They will also break things like lamps because they just throw the lamp in the box unpadded. They were 5 hours late arriving to pack. Tom told us there would be at least 4 on the packing crew. There were only 2.

If you use these guys, BUY THE INSURANCE. Without insurance, they will only pay $0.60 a pound for what is lost or broken.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

Wish I could give 0 stars. They'll lie about your estimate, they'll lie about the delivery date, they have zero communication, and they even use a scam insurance company that will no respond to emails or phone calls. Nothing stops this company from just stealing all of your stuff and then claiming they lost and never compensating you for it. They lost my $1,000 bed among other things. In all seriousness there could be a lawsuit against this company and whoever runs it should be looking at jail time as well.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1800

Was quoted a price for a move. I wasn't there when they picked up belongings. Mover calls says it's going to be higher price. Had to move said ok. They said first month storage free. That didn't happen. They doubled price on move. Was in between jobs, so they stored belongings, ran up a ridiculous amount to move. Told them they obviously wanted my stuff more than me. Finally negotiated a price, then they said cash only. Told them to forget it. Now they said $2000, come get it. Told them would pick up for original price quoted, $1200 plus dollars. Final offer was $1500, they didn't take it. They won't get a thing at auction. Bunch of fools, have no business sense. Oh yeah, the one mover, a real cocky individualthat picked it up. Would have given him a taste of his own medicine. Wouldn't recommend these folks to the devil.
