Local move from Avon, NC to Leland, NC

Beware this Moving Company.

Made the mistake of contracting with a Broker, who in turn sub-contracted our move to Traditional. This was an out-of-state move, including approx. 6-8 months of storage between pick-up and delivery. Long-story short..Traditional is one of the most inept and unscrupulous companies I've ever worked with. On pick-up day, they tried to up-charge me for packing services, after the rate had already been agreed with the Broker. Once we resolved that issue (somewhat), the company commenced with the load, which resulted in any number of crushed boxes, and damaged goods. It took over two months to determine where our goods were stored, and when we were finally granted access to that facility, we discovered that all our possessions had been "crammed" in to two storage bins, when three would have been more appropriate, given the number of items. Suffice to say, many of our boxes were crushed, and other items damaged during this time. Upon delivery to our new residence, the company hired local "contractors" to unload, and many additional boxes and items were further damaged (including glass and dishware, as well as a very expensive fireplace with insert (this piece was virtually destroyed). On top of that, we discovered a number of missing items, including a refrigerator, our dining room table-top and a dresser..not to mention several boxes of clothing. It was determined that these items were left off the original manifest, having been stored in another unit (that no one seemed to know about), and it took another week before they could be delivered. And so it goes..

Anyone looking to use this company would be smart to heed my advice..DON'T! Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had gone with a name-brand moving company, such as Nationwide. Never again!

Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to New York, NY

A great service with (!) care for details.

This is hands down the most responsible company I've ever moved with. I had some of my belongings down in Florida, and the crew loaded them and had them in my apartment in NYC within 4 days! I was also offered some free packing materials and up to 2 months of storage. And that's with me not even being present at the pickup.
The movers made a detailed inventory list with stickers on each item and box, so it was really easy to check that all of my things arrived in full and nothing was lost.
The representatives were very attentive to the details - I was made sure there won't be any surprise charges, and there weren't indeed. Definitely choosing this company if ever need to move again. (I hope not :)
They are professionals - all the way from the sales and dispatch team to packers and diligent movers.
It's hard to trust moving companies nowadays, but if you go with Traditional - you're definitely and most attentively taken care of.

Stop Stop! Do not use this company.

Stop Stop, do not use this company for moving not even your pet. The office manager and movers are very rude and unprofessional. They started out professional when I called for an estimate. I gave them all the items that I needed move and they quoted me a price. The day of my move they got to me 4 hours later. When they got to my apartment they never apologized but told me right away without even seeing my things the driver said its going to be more in price than were quoted to me over the phone. To cut long story short they never move me and waisted my time. These people are nothing but a big fraud. Please don't say, that you were not warned to stay away from Traditional Express Van Lines.

Official company response

Mayln Teah yes we started out professional as you said. And we did our best to safe your move and prevent you paying more in the end. First of all you when you were giving us inventory list you forgot to mention few bulky items like sectional sofa etc. That what made your price to go up. We charge by cubic footage and the couch it self had additional 150 cubic feet. I'm not talking about other bulky furniture. We was fair with the price and gave you all needed updates before we even start to load everything. We explained everything for you, went over details. And you AGREED that you was way off with your inventory list. We gave you option to cancel the move and returned $300 deposit same day. Our $300 deposit is 100% refundable. WE ARE PROFESSIONAL and find your review, complain is not fair. And we don't deserve it. Wish you everything the best and good luck.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA

5 Stars.

1. Traditional Van Lines pulled it off without a hitch. It's always scary when you've got to get someone moved. I'm glad I went with this company, honestly, it came down to timeframe and budget. In this case, I had to get one of our field managers and our event exhibit moved from New Brunswick to Staten Island within a few days with absolutely no supervisor. I was solely depending on the companies expertise to be my eyes and ears for the project.

2. Rudy our field manager only met with the gentleman at 8:00am to open the door to the apartment he had to leave shortly thereafter. The crew moved a 10X20 booth along with other event elements and personal items. They moved an entire one bedroom apartment in under 8 hours without a scratch. That is what I call success.

3. James was our lead he locked up the apartment and arrived in Staten Island. I had the opportunity to speak with him briefly on the phone, they introduce their crew managers which is a very nice touch. James was readily available and gave me updates throughout the day - see the photos that he sent.

4. The gentlemen that quoted me was very personable and assured me that his three men crew would have all the boxes put away by end of day on Saturday and that's exactly how it went.

5. Lastly, 4 drayage boxes had to be sent to California and those arrived perfectly about a week later. I highly recommend this team.

Thank you very much!

Do Not Let Their Quotes Fool You.

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. Please do not let their quotes entice you to use their services. When I began the process of moving from Texas to NY, I had gone through the typical "Please list your inventory and we will send you free quotes", and received multiple quotes with numerous companies. When I saw a quote for $1300 I was enticed and decided to move forward with the company.

Once the delivery men got to my apartment, they had readjusted the quote to well over $3000 "due to the size of my furniture". Even though I had listed the dimensions to each of my items, they said they don't guarantee the quoted amount. Straight FALSE ADVERTISING. Since I had no other options and they had already packed my furniture up, I had to continue with there service.

Well, upon delivery I owed them ANOTHER $1500, on top of the initial $2000 I had already paid them, when the balance was listed as $1100. When I tried to ring them to inquire about where the additional $400 was coming from, no one answered. How do you have a business where no one answers the phone at 10:00AM on a Thursday?? The delivery guy had mentioned it may be a 'shuttle fee', even after the person who packed my things said that would only apply if they had to take my things into the city (so I purposely had them deliver to my mom's house).

The poor delivery men had to hear me screaming and [EDIT], but could essentially understand my frustration with such an unethical company. In addition to the 400% increase in price, several of my belongings had been damaged in transit - equating this to an additional $600 loss for 3 items. I will be inputting a claim AND following up with the better business bureau about their practices. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Long-distance move from New York to New Jersey

Sabrina from New Jersey.

My family and I were moving from Brooklyn to New Jersey and needed a reliable moving company to move our belongings. I did all the research on moving companies and settled on Traditional Express Van Lines because of their reputation, customer reviews, and price. The office staff were pleasant and very professional and got back with a quote almost immediately. They were on time. Everything arrived in good condition and the move into our new home went just as well as the move out of our old home. We are very happy with this move and will recommend Traditional Express Van Lines again. .

Long-distance move from New Hampshire to Texas

The Worst Experience.

I was quoted a price on a 16 foot truck..the quote was wrong but I didn't know that.  Truck was to come at before noon, showed up at 7:45 pm.  I had to call 4 times to find out when the were coming.  Driver told me I would have to pay double because my quote was for 550 sq. ft not for a 16' truck like I had asked.  Sales person (Jim Ross) called me back while I was driving back to Texas, he was yelling at me, called me a liar, told me that I could measure my items when they deliver.  Truck was supposed to come on a Friday/Saturday but showed up Monday, again I had to call them to find out anything.  Driver got into an argument with my place because he didn't want to go the way they told him to, he proceeded to damage a curb and ruin their lawn.  I asked to measure my stuff but he told me NO that is done when they load the truck.  When bringing stuff out of the truck, they were pulling items out that didn't belong to me, they even brought stuff into my house that didn't belong to me.  So I paid double for what I was quoted and never got to measure my items in the truck to see what the cubic square foot was.  I was treated with disrespect, called names and stressed out dealing with this company.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY it will be a nightmare.

Traditional express van line.

Dear All,

Trust me , total frustrating experience with these guys. They picked my household items on 27th June 2016 from Boston and till today 16th July, there could not deliver items to Irving, Texas. As per their comittment, I supposed to get my shipment on 5th July 2016. Due to delay I had to suffer with my family lot for more than 10 days and had to invest 1200-1400USD to live my life at Irving, Tx.

No one responds and owns responsibility for this delay.

In addition to that, there are lot of hidden costs. These stupid company is totally untrustworthy company. I NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THESE GUYS FOR MOVING.

Horrible experience and I asked them to provide company founder name. No one provided me till today. Everyone afraids, they did so many mistakes and tells every LIE to get the customer.

Please be aware of this guys. THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE EVEN TO GIVE SINGLE STAR.

Moving.

I was moving from Connecticut to Brooklyn with this company. The driver Chris was very patient and careful. All home appliances were safe, not even a scratch, everything was covered under the mates to protect the wooden furniture from rain (the weather was really awful). It cost me $850 overall to move. but I do not regret it - the service was excellent, I didn't need to worry about my stuff and everything was there in time. Perfect experience! Will definitely recommend this company for all who don't want to stress out while moving :).

Good choice.

Our first move ever and it was easy with this company! We were getting a lot of different quotes from different moving companies. We decided to go with Traditional because they appeared to be the most organized. Sales people were great. We had a feeling that we were moving with a family not just a moving company.       The foreman arrived with his crew within the window time frame they gave me, since I had to reserve the elevator per my building request. They took care of my insurance for the building in advance so there was no issue with my building. Once they got to my apartment, they started to disassemble all my furniture including my bed & my bookcase, wrapping them. All fragile items were packed such as tv's & glass top tables. You worry how the move is going to be, but after they arrived and started to  work you can see you are dealing with a top moving company. They did not take breaks & every item that needed special attention was packed in a special way for a very low additional charge.      As for the delivery they arrived on a different day (they had to reschedule it) at the agreed time and quickly assembled everything. They delivered everything in perfect condition, did not lose a single box. I would advise to label your boxes yourself in addition to their labeling as we got someone's box but our labels helped us understand that it was not ours, and they were able to identify the owner of the other box & reassured me they would even pick it up a week later for shipment to the original owner. That is a responsible moving company as far as I am concerned. Thanks guys!! You were great!

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Texas

Could be lot better.

FYI, Boost Express and Traditional Express Van Lines are essentially the same movers, they just have different websites and different DOT #s.For my move from NJ to TX, I had a not so good estimator who did the visual inspection and estimated for 1500 cu.ft, however when the actual movers came, it ended up being 2000 cu ft. And even though it was a binding estimate, I had to reluctantly pay the difference because the volume was around 500 cu ft more. The packing experience could have been much better, because they got some "trainees" as well to do the packing along with an experienced foreman; maybe they can think about staffing a bit better. Now the communication is definitely something they really need to work and improve; people skills are lacking. Considering that they are interstate movers, the dispatcher and the mover should talk better with customers and provide REAL and timely status updates and not just come up with excuses and arbitrary delivery dates. It really should not be that hard to talk to your trucker and find out exactly where your goods are and when they expect to deliver. I made sure to document everything and let the movers know through various means about the delay, over-payment and delivery issues I had. I was disappointed with how things were progressing, so I wanted to make sure they took my feedback and try to improve their service. The good part is that the VP called me up personally to apologize for all the troubles and gave me a small compensation to help. Although this did not meet the "binding estimate" to my satisfaction, in the end there was something the company did as a goodwill gesture and that was appreciated.  All in all, make sure you get  a good estimator from the movers to do the visual inspection and inventory, write down in detail. Keep in touch constantly to find out about the delivery to make things less stressful for you. You can decide for yourself. .

Professionals!!

Friend of mine recommended this company. He moved together with his family and there were no problems at all.

Fortunately the stuff remained in good condition and the move was smooth in general. And I'm saying not just about my move actually but about my booking process as well. I spoke to Natalie the sales person. She was great!!

Even after 3 months of keeping my staff in storage nothing was missing. And literally in a few days it was delivered to my house after I requested it. Perfect! I will recommend Traditional Express Van lines.

Stay away like the plaque.

I would give it no stars if it was permitted it. Bait and switch. I got low balled on a price of $2500 after giving a detailed list of every item I wanted moved. After loading items they demanded an additional $1200 fifty percent of the contract price. I refused and they wouldn't move all of my items . Now I have to hire another mover to get the job done

They arrived 3 hours late to the destination out of state and unloaded the truck in the dark arriving at 8PM . I had to assist moving items. They damaged items. Some items were missing parts. They even delivered items belonging to someone else
When I requested claim forms for the damage I got ignored.

HORRIBLE Customer Service.

These guys are cheap, but that is the ONLY positive about working with them. Their customer service and professionalism is completely unacceptable.

The initial quote I got was $3.40 per cf. When I called back to discuss further, they had me send them an inventory list of the items I would need moved so they could "get a more accurate estimate". After I sent the inventory list, they claimed that because they estimated less cf than the original quote, they were increasing my rate. Why should it matter how much/little cf I have? Anyways.. I didn't argue because it was still a decent price. However when they came to move me they actual cf was almost double their estimate. In my inventory list I literally measured the exact dimensions of every item I owned. Essentially they just quoted me a low number of cf to make my overall price look cheap, but then jacked it up for the actual move.

Then getting my stuff to Florida has been a whole additional train wreck. The Russian guy who is moving it is SO rude every time I talk to him. I asked him to deliver my stuff on a Thursday and he said no problem. So I took off of work and arranged my schedule accordingly. Then all of a sudden he calls me the day before to say he doesn't know when he will be here, maybe Friday or Saturday or Sunday. When I asked why I was initially told Thursday, he snapped back at me saying he can never guarantee anything and I should know better. How would I know better if you told me something different initially!?

Essentially once they do the initial pick-up they have already gotten half of your money and your business so they don't care about providing any sort of customer service to you from that point on. If you can deal with the a**holes who work here, then good luck. But I will never work with them again.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Texas

Unprofessional service, hidden charges, 2 weeks delay and theft.

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY! It was a terrible, frustrating experience. I just filed official complaint forms to Department of Transportation, the Better Business Bureau, FMCSA as no one in this company responded to my email, phone calls, and complaint letter for the delay, damage, and poor customer service. I also had to call the POLICE as the movers ran off with my property when I refused to pay hidden extra charge in cash at the delivery location when they were already delayed for 2 weeks. The tricky part was that they made me sign some dubious company-specific paper after they loaded my stuff, which caused a lot of problems in the end. Basically, it indicated that there might be additional charges and the delivery date would not be approximate. As I already signed Bill of Lading, which is more the official form that every registered moving company uses with exact costs, and delivery date, I did not pay too much attention to this form. Also, as they brought up this paper after they loaded my stuff at the truck, I could not back out at that point but just sign. I asked the copy of this dubious form but they refused to give it to me and this form basically caused a lot of problems.

Pick-up day: 5 hours late, no packing of furniture which I paid extra for packing, and making me sign some dubious form which cause problem in the end

The moving date was set for Jun 28th, 2016. I was expecting the movers at 8 a.m. but they came 5 hours late without a warning. The mover demanded extra charge for long carry and the use of elevator, which I refused to pay as it was already included in the contract. Then, his attitude changed very hostile throughout the whole loading process. He even refused to wrap my bulky furniture with blankets, which is the violation of the contract. He kept saying he did not have time for that but it was not my fault that they were 5 hours late. In the end, these unwrapped items were delivered in severely damaged condition. Additionally I paid extra for the packing of my mattress spring, but it turned out that the movers did not pack it with covers at all and it arrived with severely damaged condition.

In transit : no notice for 2-weeks delay until the arrival day
The delivery was scheduled for July 9th, but I did not receive any notice until I called the company that morning. The sales representative Greg, who I made contract with, told me that he only does 'sales' and I need to contact Dispatch department in which 'LEWIS' was in charge of. Although I called LEWIS, he had no idea where the truck is and when would be the next approximate delivery date. Every time I called the company, they made me call other people, who had no idea about when the truck would arrive in my location, and no one attempted to be responsible for the delay.

Delivery day: police involved
On the delivery day, the movers, Eugene and the team, arrived in my apartment demanded extra charge in cash for renting a Uhaul, and extra labor for loading and unloading Uhaul. I refused to pay as they did not notify me about the final charges prior to delivery or while in transit and the extra charge was more than 110% of the initial contract paper, which is ILLEGAL by law. Then, the movers ran off with my property saying that they will leave my property at storage at my expense and leave for California. Then, they did not pick up my call so I called Police for Burglary and Theft. (Case #, 0925204-xx). LEWIS, the representative at the Dispatch department yelled and threatened me over the phone saying that I will have to pay for the mover's waiting time and the storage, or I pay the extra now in order to get my shipment that day. I finally called the mover, Eugene and agreed to pay the extra of $340 as I was afraid that they would leave for California and I have to wait another few weeks. When I paid the extra charges, they made me sign the form saying ' I would never dispute this charge', which is also ILLEGAL.

This company is completely UNTRUSTWORTHY and IRRESPONSIBLE. No one would respond to any of the problems and will make you pay $$ in the end.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Somerville, MA

Worst company ever.

This was the worst company I have ever dealt with in any spectrum of my life. Their communication was abysmal at best-they were 4 hours late when picking up my things to put them in storage. When they did arrive they were fine on the front end-don't let this fool you though! They had misquoted my move and it ended up costing more than $800 extra than expected. After 2 months of storage, I arranged for my things to be delivered to my (empty) new apartment. I called to confirm on July 28th that they would arrive on July 31 and received confirmation. I called again July 30th to see what time they would be coming and no one answered. Finally, they emailed me back at 8 PM to say that my things would not be delivered until wednesday August 2, giving me 12 hours notice. I was then homeless in boston for 2 nights as my apartment had no furniture or bedding. They ensured they would try to refund two nights of hotel stays. They then pushed back my move 4 hours on august 2 to 7:00. I called the dispatcher 3 times with no answer, so finally I called the customer service employee back who told me they would not be coming until August 3. This was obviously getting ridiculous so they eventually conceded to come at 9 PM (actually not showing up until 10 PM). The next day they told me they owed me nothing and refused to compensate me for the two nights in a hotel, which is obviously absurd because their failure to communicate left me stranded in a foreign city with nowhere to stay. They refused to let me speak to management on the phone, and I was put on hold continuously and was hung up on twice. My mom and I had to take 3 days off of work in addition while we waited around in Boston, which is a huge financial and logistical burden. . 0/10 would NOT recommend ever getting into business with these people, unless you want a headache and to spend over 1300 more dollars than intended! Zero professionalism, zero communication between the different employees, totally fake customer service, and zero helpfulness.

Poor customer service.

There was no communication between the company and myself. I was told I would get a call, 48 hours in advance, before the movers would arrive. Never happened, period. I had to call the company three times before I finally got a call 1 hour before they were scheduled to arrive. The week my items were scheduled to arrive I called in order to get an more accurate estimate of when the truck would be here. I was told that my items would not arrive until the next week. I spoke to customer service, who, kept telling me all the "issues" that happened. Unless I called- I would have been waiting an entire week for a truck that would not show. I was told I would get a call at the end of the the week to tell me where my items are, according to the customer service: "That's the least I can do." I agree with the least part- I now will have to ship a suitcase back to Texas- because they are a week past their date. I do not recommend them if you are moving across country.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Texas

One of the worst movers and highly unprofessional.

Guys - I thought about sharing my experience about my move by partnering this company, which has been my biggest mistake ever and by the way..my delivery of goods are not yet done and I am still waiting :) so you can imagine the real situation.

1st of all they will give you a small quote accessing list of items and size and when the truck comes over, they increase the expense by almost 50%..my original estimate was $3000 and I am paying $4500 as of today..

2nd, trusted that above increase in cost is due to logical reasons, I was expecting to get my delivery in committed date..2nd mistake :) its been 14 days already and now when I call the call centre, they stretched time by another week without any specific reason.

3rd, customer care, sales representative, manager of the shop..all are big time lier. Trust me, its so unpleasant talking to them and hoping for a solution is being highly optimistic..

I would force you (kidding) not to go for this company and better go for the reputed ones and do read the contract 2-3 times before you sign on the final document as they change dates and timelines as well..

Hope this review helped you to go for a better option. Cheers!

Long-distance move from Mount Kisco, NY to Raleigh, NC

My recent move.

I needed a moving company within the week (in the middle of the summer) and began to panic. I spoke to 4 or 5 companies before speaking with Traditional Express. They gave me some great tools to screen out the brokers and other predatory companies. After doing my research on all the companies I was getting quotes from, I ended up going with Traditional Express. While they were not the cheapest quote, they did have the best reputation and I felt the most comfortable with how they fully explained the moving process to me. they insisted on sending a person to my home to ensure there would be no surprises on moving day. They were actually the only ones who sent someone to house to view all the items. We did have to correct my inventory a few times before everything was confirmed but finally got it correct!
The day of my move went quite well. Josh, Tony and Omar were very nice and worked quickly. Everything went as it had been explained to me and I was very comfortable leaving NY to go wait for my stuff to arrive in North Carolina. Two days later I got the call from dispatch that my goods would be arriving the next day. Everything arrived the next day and I was moved into my new home in no time.
Traditional Express was a great choice for my move. The service was wonderful and, since we worked out a few discrepancies with my inventory before the move, there were no surprise "additional charges".
If you are looking for a mover, I would highly recommend Traditional Express.
