Simple Moving Labor

SML movers are absolutely the best!  They are on time and ready to go. Very impressed with how easy it was to have customer service to schedule everything. They really care about you and your move.  The pro movers really know what their doing.  We moved from Tennessee to Florida, but we ended up with a strong thunderstorm for unloading.  Lucky for us customer service got us extra time and the whole thing came out without a panic. And our movers stuck with us to make sure everything was good. Thank you for the Military discount with Penske moving trucks!  .

Service cost: $1054

I moved from Hamden, CT to Torrington, CT.  My family and I experienced the worst move we have undertaken.  The individuals from SML damaged and lost quite a lot of our property.  Lack of supervision was a factor in our property getting lost.  While they were moving the boxes and other items, there was no one overseeing where they kept the items.  Things were left in the elevator of our former apartment.  There were items sprawled all over the lobby and second floor where we used to reside.  Unfortunately, we trusted them.  We were very wrong.  We thought they would be professional but it did not turn out that way.  My kids lost all their video games, CD's and quite a lot of their toys.  When they dropped off the items in our new place we discovered that the dinning table was broken.  The elliptical exercise machine was also broken.  Other items which were damaged were the microwave oven, wooden shelf, bedroom set, glass and plastic items.  Our peace of mind was very badly shaken to discover the losses.  We had packed everything in boxes to make it easier but the movers complained about the number of boxes.  The saddest part was that my kids lost most of their favorite and valuable things.  Please think twice about getting services from SML.  They stole our peace of mind.  We got impacted emotionally and financially. All we can do is have faith in the Almighty to help us out of our current situation as well as pray that the individuals who stole and damaged the property are punished by the Almighty.  Again, please think really hard before getting SML to move your property.    .

We booked in advance: 3 workers to unload our truck for 3 hours. 1 guy showed up. He was old and fat and slow. This guy knew one of the other 2 and called him to ask if he was coming. The guy said he couldn't find the address, got mad and went home. The 3rd guy never showed up or called in. Luckily our new neighbor helped us and the old guy did his best. We were exhausted. SML charged us for the one guy. When I realized they get their guys from Labor Ready I was angry. If I wanted 3 losers I could have called Labor Ready myself and cut out this useless middleman. DO NOT USE SML IN CINCINNATI.

Service cost: $115

Big move! Had 3 SML professional packers. Wrapped furniture, loaded and professionally packed 26' Penske truck. Overall very satisfied, all items with the exception of the back 1/4 of the truck were loaded and packed strategically, great job! The crew switched loader/packer on truck for the final 1/4 of the truck and items were not as tightly and efficiently packed, however no damage was reported. Total pack & load took 6 hours, great job!
Had 3 laborers unload truck 3 days later in southwest Florida. Crew showed up on time and were extremely pleasant! Very hard workers. Items were quickly and efficiently loaded into storage unit. All items were handled with care and again strategically packed in storage unit without issue. Total unload and packing into storage unit less than 4 hours. Overall excellent experience with both SML crews, would recommend to anyone! Both load and unload we had SML representatives from the headquarters checkin during the day to ensure satisfaction, excellent customer service!

From my first contact with SML to my last, the reps on the phone were polite, professional and gave me the sense that they were genuinely concerned about helping to make my move easier. The movers worked hard and made my move easier. It was a success. We'd like to thank SML for their assistance. Unrelated to SML, the only thing I found that does not fit the equation is the requirement to continue to type until I have met the minimum of three hundred and fifty characters for this review and the site won't let me proceed until I've done so, yet it does not provide the count of how many characters I have written. Do they really expect me to count my characters? Do I have three fifty yet?

There were four people to assist our move in Carson City NV. One of them was a woman who did virtually nothing. She was lazy and stood around even after given instruction. Two of the men worked very hard and did most of the heavy lifting. The other man was not motivated but did work as instructed but had to be monitored constantly. I would not recommend this service to anyone for moving. In Los Angeles we paid less for professional movers which were outstanding. I paid a lot more money for untrained laborers which only two of them deserved a tip. The woman who accompanied these men should not be utilized again.

I used SML professional movers to load 26 ft penske truck. The loaders were late however they called to notify me. When SML called to ask how move was going I told them they were late without asking she gave me money off on my move as a courtesy. Movers were very polite, communicated throughout. I had a friend over as they were loading and he was so impressed he took lead person's number for future work he needs done. Would highly recommend.
Now for the destination! I hired two laborers. Was told they would need to be instructed what to do. This was very true. They weren't afraid to work hard however the one worker had very bad body odor, it was so bad I was afraid to have him touch any fabrics, he was making many noises to the point as I had to tell him to stop as I was moving into a new neighborhood and this was not the 1st impression I wanted neighbors to have of me and family. I can tell you if my wife was there during the unload she would have asked him to leave. I think SML needs to screen laborers a little better. For price difference it would have been worth it to have professionals at destination as well. Would still recommend. Value for money.

Overall, experience was good. I used helpers to load a Penske 16-foot truck and movers to unload the truck. All were very polite, competent, capable, hard working, professional, and friendly.

The company's representatives were helpful, accommodating, and very courteous. They called to check on the progress for each job.


Two issues.

I had requested two helpers to load the truck. I was sent one helper. Had it not been for a friend being there to help, the job would have taken twice as long. While the helper was great, the extra person would have sped up the loading of the truck.

To unload the truck, I hired professional movers. There was confusion because they thought they were loading the truck, rather than unloading it. Both worked diligently and had unloaded the truck in 1-hour.
