I would NOT recommend this company if you want your shipment items to be delivered in full. I hired Ship Smart for a small, 1-bedroom apartment move (1700 lbs) from Seattle to Los Angeles area in October 2019. Two dressers / storage carts containing most of my summer clothes (casual, business, evening apparel) were lost during the shipment.

Ship Smart does not have and/or did not follow the most basic operating procedures that any professional shipping company should have in-place to accurately track the inventory list. They did not keep full and accurate documentation of items from pickup location throughout the storage, packing, transport, unpacking, and delivery process. The inventory list that I signed on pickup day in Seattle was not available to the delivery crew in Los Angeles, who created a new inventory list when they received the shipment at their warehouse. Due to this gross negligence, Ship Smart did not even notice the missing items during the 4-week period while they had custody of my shipment until I reported the missing items on the delivery day.

In their last communication on 6/4/2020, they claimed they were "waiting on another consignee to unpack their shipment to see if the missing dressers may have been accidentally included in that shipment".

It has now been more than 13 months since my partial shipment was delivered (11/25/2019). ShipSmart was not able to locate the missing items and has not communicated with me since June 2020.

The only reason I've given them two stars instead of one is because they refunded me for the amount I spent in an Airbnb because my stuff was well over 2 weeks late for the date promised. I called them daily for over a month down to the very day my items were to get dropped off because no one even confirmed the delivery the day of. Continuous long hold times and despite baby sitting the process the entire time, it took 1.5 months to receive my stuff from a STUDIO apartment. My computer chair and dishware also arrived broken. Additionally I was quoted 5000 and was told after they took everything that it would be 6300. The movers arrived late at the beginning of the move (3.5 hours) at at the destination (3 hours late) without any communication what so over from their side. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We moved furniture and paintings from SC to Winter Garden Fl. Since I expected no damage, I deliberately underinsured the items in the shipment. Unfortunately, several pieces of furniture sustained significant damage that required repair and one or our painting was lost. Insurance covered only a fraction of the loss and I was quite upset. Fortunately, Ship Smart Customer Service Team reached out to me with offer of assistance in resolving my concerns. They worked diligently with me and helped resolve the problems we encountered. I am quite pleased with their efforts and appreciate their efforts on my behalf. I learned an important lesson from this experience: never underinsure your items since damage/loss may occur during any move no matter how good the company involved.

I highly recommend Ship Smart. From the time I called to inquire about their service to the final delivery day, I was so happy with everyone I encountered by phone and in person. I moved from Berkeley Ca. to Brooklyn NY. I moved a new full size bed and 19 boxes. The 2 gentlemen that can for pick up were wonderful. They were so professional and respecful of my things. I felt confident I made the right choice. I was notified of the delivery date, was asked if that day would work for me. They called me that morning to confirm time of arrival. The 2 gentlemen from the New Jersey warehouse were just as wonderful as the pick up staff. My bed and frame came boxed so were well protected. They too were very professional and respectful of my things. I had contacted the office a couple of times to inform them of a few changes from the original estimate and everyone was so helpul and accomodating.

The total cost of the move was so reasonable. I had 2 large moving companies do an in home estimate for this size move and they both recommended

Ship Smart. I saved $6,000.00+ using Ship Smart. They are fantastic and I would definitely call them again as well as recommend to my family and friends.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $3190

They said it was just an ‘estimate’ and that’s why they increased the price of moving one sofa from $1500 to $2000 dollars! They also said the sofa weighed 283 pounds. It does not unless they are charging for a container as well as the sofa. They took my daughter’s information and said they would contact her for payment as we arranged. Three weeks later the called from an unidentifiable number to tell me about the extra $500 charge. They were expensive to begin with but this is terrible. Will never use again. Save your money.

I need to move valuable antiques cross country and had already identified a mover, but Ship Smart was recommended by the company that expertly relocated my Mom to assisted living so I wanted to give them a try. I read several negative reviews about being quoted one price but paying another on move day so I was skeptical. I was surprised when Mike told me he didn't need a complete list of items to move (I had a spreadsheet with dimensions and appraised values). When I received the quote, it was less than half the other quote so I worried we were comparing apples to oranges. I called my new POC, Andrea, and she allowed that high value items require crating, and that it would be an additional $600. I signed the contract and was immediately taken aback with the 5 pages of terms and conditions and the news that packing doesn't occur on site. I immediately called the new shipping POC, Yolanda, since the move was in 2 business days. She said EACH high value item would be $300 for crating. I asked to speak to a manager. Was told none were around and I'd hear Monday. Called again. Manager was off. Waited for another manager, who did a lot of audible sighing and said she'd take another look at the estimate. It grew another $1,000. Said it was for crating and new weight estimates. Once I added insurance, ended up being the same estimate as the first company. Labeled it a miscommunication. With 3 people? All confidence lost so I cancelled. IF you're going to go with this company, insist on an accurate estimate up front and ask to see the complete list of terms and conditions (i.e., caveats) BEFORE you sign a contract.

Avoid this company at all costs. They broke the contract and acted in good faith. They seemed to attempt to bully me into absorbing the blame for setting me up to ship 2/3 more than what I agreed to despite my doing everything I could to prevent it, and their actively making choices to make it so that all of the extra stuff was shipped. When I called them out on every maneuver they tried, and it was clear that they didn't have any actual defense, then they said they would pay me if I didn't write any bad reviews or report them to regulatory agencies! So, (from my perspective), they pretty much admitted to fraud, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and breach of contract, but then when I wouldn't shut up about it, they suddenly wouldn't pay me. Dishonest, slimy, and sociopathic is how I would describe these people. "Jim Locke" was the guy I dealt with, and he was insulting and terrible.
