      I hope I can save someone from being ripped off here. They will lowball your estimate, pick up your stuff, add heavy packaging and charge you at least 50% more. At that point you are screwed. So please add 40%-60% more to quotes when comparing. Learn from my horrible experience.

      Slow and overcharged

      They said it was just an ‘estimate’ and that’s why they increased the price of moving one sofa from $1500 to $2000 dollars! They also said the sofa weighed 283 pounds. It does not unless they are charging for a container as well as the sofa. They took my daughter’s information and said they would contact her for payment as we arranged. Three weeks later the called from an unidentifiable number to tell me about the extra $500 charge. They were expensive to begin with but this is terrible. Will never use again. Save your money.

      BEWARE!

      I will absolutely NEVER recommend or use this company again. My mother passed away and I wanted her antique curio cabinet to be shipped to my home. She lived in Texas and I am in Pennsylvania. I paid $3000 for the "white glove" delivery. The gentlemen that picked up the piece was EXTREMELY inexperienced with moving large items. I should have known then that this experience was going to go downhill. After a MONTH of waiting, I finally got the call that the curio was going to be delivered. Once it was in my home, I was told they could not unwrap it. I had to unwrap it myself only to discover broken glass and heavy damage to 2 of the doors. The doors had been pushed in so far that the door stops had snapped off along with parts of the framing. It was VERY obvious that ZERO care had taken with this very precious piece. It would have been safer and cheaper for me to just throw it in a Uhaul and transport it myself. I asked for a partial refund and was told that since I did not get the insurance they were not liable. Silly me for thinking that $3000 would get me way better care and service than I received.

      Pick Another Company

      Everything that I did not pack myself was damaged.The process for making a claim is beyond ridiculous. Contract says one thing and customer service says another. Quoting is unreliable and their service team is extremely unprofessional. They don’t replace or fix anything. It’s all on you. Couldn’t find one professional to fix what I needed. Support another company, not this one.

      Slow, expensive, dishonest

      $2000 over quote and over 5 weeks late for a small move. ShipSmart is not a moving company, it's just a middleman for shipping companies. So if you have a good move with them, you got lucky that they contracted a good mover. If you get unlucky, like I did, then not only is your move very delayed and misquoted, but also ShipSmart doesn't know what's going on with their contractors, and they put you in a horrible cycle of them saying "it will ship next week," next week passes, you call to see what happened, wait a cumulative 2 hours on hold, and get bullshitted again. It's hard to convey the amount of hold music I listened to because of ShipSmart, and I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

      In the end they took so long that I flew back across the country to rescue my stuff from the warehouse with a UHaul. When I arrived I found the warehouse so full that pallets of people's belongings were spilling into the street. There were two guys(!!!) working there.

      Save yourself and pick someone else.

      They give a rosy estimate of 3-4 weeks but in reality they have no control over when it is shipped and keep giving estimates of "the next few days" until weeks have passed. Do not recommend.

      Horrible experience - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

      The only reason I've given them two stars instead of one is because they refunded me for the amount I spent in an Airbnb because my stuff was well over 2 weeks late for the date promised. I called them daily for over a month down to the very day my items were to get dropped off because no one even confirmed the delivery the day of. Continuous long hold times and despite baby sitting the process the entire time, it took 1.5 months to receive my stuff from a STUDIO apartment. My computer chair and dishware also arrived broken. Additionally I was quoted 5000 and was told after they took everything that it would be 6300. The movers arrived late at the beginning of the move (3.5 hours) at at the destination (3 hours late) without any communication what so over from their side. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

      Expected delivery was a month ago, and they say it's probably going to be another week.

      Everything is subcontracted out so they have no control over when your items actually get to you. Never their fault, nothing they can do.

      The worst moving company.

      I have been trying to find out when my belongings will be delivered for over a week. When I call they keep telling me I will receive a call by end of the day. They never call! 5 times now and I have no idea where my things are or when I will receive them. Plus I had to pay $1000 more than the quote. All I can do not is fill a complaint with the start attorney's office and hire an attorney and sue them. Good luck if you have hired Ship Smart.

      Ignore my previous post - Shipsmart made this right. As part of my attempt to move a small number of items from one coast to the other, there was some confusion at the loading site regarding the contents of my contract. It resulted in far more items being moved then I had desired. In retrospect, I strongly recommend that individuals be present at the loading site when possible. It will help alleviate confusion and clarify any questions. That said, Ship Smart was able to reimburse me for the amount that was in question. Greatly appreciate their professionalism and responsiveness!

      Sometimes plans change...

      Many thanks for accommodating my move from VA to CA that, unfortunately, was interrupted by COVID, fires, and then a change in plans.       I highly recommend Ship Smart. From the time I called to inquire about their service to the final delivery day, I was so happy with everyone I encountered by phone and in person. I moved from Berkeley Ca. to Brooklyn NY. I moved a new full size bed and 19 boxes. The 2 gentlemen that can for pick up were wonderful. They were so professional and respecful of my things. I felt confident I made the right choice. I was notified of the delivery date, was asked if that day would work for me. They called me that morning to confirm time of arrival. The 2 gentlemen from the New Jersey warehouse were just as wonderful as the pick up staff. My bed and frame came boxed so were well protected. They too were very professional and respectful of my things. I had contacted the office a couple of times to inform them of a few changes from the original estimate and everyone was so helpul and accomodating.

      The total cost of the move was so reasonable. I had 2 large moving companies do an in home estimate for this size move and they both recommended

Bait and Switch

Even if you provide the weight of the items, they don't weigh it before packaging and then charge shipping costs for a weight that is way more than the items being shipped. Expect your real cost to be twice to 2.5x higher than their "estimate". They intentionally quote with an under weight in their initial quote. Then they package to ensure the highest weight.

You are lucky if you are reading this review.

I have moved multiple places within USA and i know how these moving companies try to play with customers.

While, i was having a discussion on quotes with this company they understood that i was asking them very specific questions and she was initially nervous while lying, and then she disconnected the call.

They said, they do not bother size or weight of the item, they just need quantity of the item to generate quote.

They have front desk executive, trained to cheat people.

Small move

Excellent service from beginning to end. Would recommend this company to anyone that I know . I moved from Maryland to California. Made many calls to change the size and date of my moves several times. Not once did I face any ire from any of the people answering my phone calls. Classic bait and switch

I need to move valuable antiques cross country and had already identified a mover, but Ship Smart was recommended by the company that expertly relocated my Mom to assisted living so I wanted to give them a try. I read several negative reviews about being quoted one price but paying another on move day so I was skeptical. I was surprised when Mike told me he didn't need a complete list of items to move (I had a spreadsheet with dimensions and appraised values). When I received the quote, it was less than half the other quote so I worried we were comparing apples to oranges. I called my new POC, Andrea, and she allowed that high value items require crating, and that it would be an additional $600. I signed the contract and was immediately taken aback with the 5 pages of terms and conditions and the news that packing doesn't occur on site. I immediately called the new shipping POC, Yolanda, since the move was in 2 business days. She said EACH high value item would be $300 for crating. I asked to speak to a manager. Was told none were around and I'd hear Monday. Called again. Manager was off. Waited for another manager, who did a lot of audible sighing and said she'd take another look at the estimate. It grew another $1,000. Said it was for crating and new weight estimates. Once I added insurance, ended up being the same estimate as the first company. Labeled it a miscommunication. With 3 people? All confidence lost so I cancelled. IF you're going to go with this company, insist on an accurate estimate up front and ask to see the complete list of terms and conditions (i.e., caveats) BEFORE you sign a contract.

Scam Artists

Avoid this company at all costs. They broke the contract and acted in good faith. They seemed to attempt to bully me into absorbing the blame for setting me up to ship 2/3 more than what I agreed to despite my doing everything I could to prevent it, and their actively making choices to make it so that all of the extra stuff was shipped. When I called them out on every maneuver they tried, and it was clear that they didn't have any actual defense, then they said they would pay me if I didn't write any bad reviews or report them to regulatory agencies! So, (from my perspective), they pretty much admitted to fraud, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and breach of contract, but then when I wouldn't shut up about it, they suddenly wouldn't pay me. Dishonest, slimy, and sociopathic is how I would describe these people. "Jim Locke" was the guy I dealt with, and he was insulting and terrible.

Horrible Customer Service.

This moving company is by FAR the worst I’ve ever used. They told me my items would ship on a specific date then said it would be 6 days later. Their response was, your contract says, “there are no guarantees.” So much for customer service. The person on the phone was dismissive and unhelpful.

- They quote you on the min weight, when they know that all items will weigh more and price doubles
- They sent two people for a three man job without any tools etc..
- They broke the dining room table and try to cover it up
- They lost a box and there is no recourse

Although the movers who came to my house to pickup my shipment were professional, I would never recommend this company. After they picked up my boxes, and had them enroute, they leveled another $900 charge on me for delivery "we do not have the greatest coverage for your area." Watch out for them as their extra charges add up very quickly!

Shipping items from California to Toronto is more expensive then shipping from California to Cairo! They tell you a month and you wait and wait! $4500 later and I still waiting for my items!
