Local move from Glen Cove, NY to Brentwood, NY

They took my money and never delivered my property.

I hired Public Moving and Storage located in Charlotte,NC with DOT# 2955650 after I lost my home in New York to a bank foreclosure. I have two children with disabilities and none of my family live in New York. I needed to move to St Louis, Missouri where my family live.I contracted with Public Moving and Storage ,based out of North Carolina, on June 19. I had been assured they would handle everything for my families moving other then our personal items. I asked several times if there were any other hidden charges since I am a single mother on a tight budget, was told this was my total, then paid a deposit of $1,840 by credit card on June 19. 2017. I was scheduled to move June 30, 2017. The day of the move Public Moving called saying they had over booked and asked if I would change days to Saturday July 1 in exchange for a $200 reduction in my rate. As soon as the movers arrived, in a rented Enterprise moving truck, they started adding to the amount due. When I called the company I was told since it was Saturday no one could help me. I tried to cancel but they had my deposit which they would keep if I canceled. I saw the minimum they would move was 600 cubic feet and asked to be reduced to that amount. They refused. We settled for them moving 1000 cubic feet with no extra's, such as mattress bags and television packing. I was informed they needed cash payment for half of the remainder $1,445, which I paid. They took 4 dressers filled with light, fragile items, that were important to us such as pictures and items my children had made since we were told we could leave light, fragile items in dresser drawers. They took a clothes washer, dryer, dishwasher and a free standing freezer as well as 16 boxes filled with my children and my possessions. They were to hold these for 60 days then deliver. I started calling at the end of August to get a date for delivery but was told they had between 4 and 21 business days to deliver goods. I called every week trying to get my belongings. The often would put me on hold for long periods of time, once for an hour and a half, then disconnect my call or send me straight to voice mail. I was told on Oct 18 my belongings were being loaded and would take 7 to 10 business days for delivery. I was to expect a call giving me notice a few days before delivery. Three business days later, Monday Oct 23, I received a call saying my items were to be delivered the next morning at 6 am. I was not going to be in town until Oct 26 and told the man I would take delivery Friday October 27. This morning I called Public Movers at 8:07 am central time, and was told no one could talk to me about my property at this time but they would call me later today. I waited until 3:39 pm and called them back only to be told I am not listed as a delivery for next week and that there was no one who could talk to me until Monday Oct 30. I have since called back only to either not have my call answered or to be told someone would call me back and they never call. I am a single mother with two disabled children. I truly need our belongings. It is getting cold and our winter clothes are in those boxes. We need our appliances and dressers, they contain memories that I can not replace. Please help if you can.

Public Moving Services.

We sold our house and had a quick move of 3 weeks. Once our contract was signed on July 24, 2017 and our$2,210 deposit was made they would not return calls or emails. On the 3rd day, July 27th we cancelled the move with them. After we rescinded our contract, we received an email that quoted a higher price for the services they had promised, a live load and door to door delivery. This was extremely important because we had told them we have a 25 year old with severe autism and it is very difficult if we do not have a live load with immediate delivery.
We were told not a problem at all. Linda at PMS said they totally understand and since they have their own trucks and drivers (both lies) it would be very easy to move in one day.
SHe even gave me her cell phone so if we had any problems she would be there with us from start to finish. They told us they do not guarantee pick up date, after they had told us they could pick up our house hold goods. Our son is a Deputy and he said this looks like a scam and once our items were on the truck we would not be able to get them off. He said they can hold our belongings for ransom and we would have to pay whatever they asked.
We quickly hired ABF and had a very smooth move for slightly more than our deposit.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Colorado

Scammer Alert**.

They charged us 3 THOUSAND dollars MORE Than expected.. I did all my research, I pre packaged/taped-shut/saran wrapped Everything, and the first thing they did is re tape over my tape, re saran wrap over my wrap.. and charge me for their labor, packing materials, and time!!
**Not to mention, I specifically had several Big items I had told them if we went over space wise I didn't want them to pack, I was speaking to a Russian man, He said we would be over at the end if they took the matress, so they left out one matress, and said there was about a 4'x2' space left and that's it..after it was already gone I found out we were over 300sq ft. that's $1200 just thrown in the air! I had Absolutely no Knowledge of this!! I'm very upset! I feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me, as They Did Know I Did NOT want to go over at all. And Never Told me I went over! I feel Scammed in every sense of the word. I even tipped the 3 men $60 SMH.. At the end, there was nothing left in the house except a matress and my leftover packing materials I had purchased.. The man asked if he could have them, I said sure, I'd just throw them away anyways, it was probably $70 worth of stuff, then found out later charged $120 for packing materials.. Please Don't use this company! Looking back wish I could have move myself. or don't do anything at all, cause they're going to redo everything you did and charge you 3x for it.. time/material/labor..23 days to get my stuff too!!

Long-distance move from Colorado to Illinois

Great professional moving devices.

Hi, my name is Michael wanted to say thank you to Public moving being my relocation agent) My move CO - IL was fast , quick and very professional. Top service from a very beginning, accurate estimate based on items I had provided to a sales rep, on time moving crew at the pick up , professional packing and fast delivery with just a minor damage. Will defenetly recommend them ! The pick up crew foreman Sam was very polite and helpful explaining all the details of the contract and of course I had more items when I was thinking from the beginning , so my price went up a little bit , but it was explained prior signing any paperwork , great packing and wrapping , friendly customer service , on time delivery ! Thank you guys a lot.

Long-distance move from Charlottesville, VA to Dallas, TX

Objective review based on facts.

I have never written a negative review for any company before this. Infact I rarely spend time to write any reviews. But since this was an extreme experience, I feel compelled to write a review. Please bear with me. This post is not to discourage you from engaging Public Moving Services but just to make you aware of the possibilities and urge you to prepare and plan accordingly. My experience can be an exception and you might have a different experience. That said, I highly suspect that the other reviews are posted by company's social media team.

I got a new job in Dallas and decided to move from Virginia. I talked to Alex from the sales team and he seemed very helpful. I was to start my job on 31st July and wanted to settle into my new house before that. I have a travelling job and so wanted to make sure my furniture in delivered well before 31st July. Alex was very helpful and recommended that for July 26th delivery, I should send the goods well in advance so I moved up my pickup date to 18th July. I took multiple confirmations from Alex that my furniture would reach before 26th. There was some confusion in the quotation about charges for packing material and so I inquired about that with Alex. After getting assurance that I would not be charged extra for packing material, I gave an advance payment and closed the deal. I also got a good deal from them for moving my car and made advance payment for that as well.

Fast forward to pickup day. The team shows up and demands extra money for packing material. Upon protest I get the response that they do not care what my discussion was with sales team and they go by their procedure. The front man of the pickup team was a reasonable guy and we agreed that we should talk to the sales team to clarify any miscommunication. The sales team does not pick up my calls and does not reply to voice mails. After waiting for some time, I gave up and decided to pay the extra fees. The team was very efficient and packed my house under 90 mins.

For car pickup, the driver does not show up. I wait for a few days calling the company daily. 5 days after the pickup day I get a call that driver is arriving for pickup. I had left Virginia by then to be present for furniture delivery in Dallas. My wife who was still in town was supposed to manage the car pickup. The driver who is 5 days late was impatient enough to tell my wife that she needs to give the car immediately and he can not wait till lunch time. She had to leave the meeting in the office to give the car.

Though painful, I was relieved that pickup is complete. Now that they have my car, they email me an updated quote increasing the price. This was not discussed even at the time of pickup. Next day they send another quote increasing the price again. The driver with car arrived in Dallas (8 days after original delivery date) and told me he does not know about the original quote and would not deliver the car unless I pay full updated price in cash. He was equally impatient this time. I valued my car more than I valued few hundred extra bucks, so decided to give in to the hostage situation and pay up.

About the furniture, 18 days (August 13th) after the promised delivery date, I am still waiting for my furniture. I have been living in an empty house and calling the office daily. The only response I received so far is "We have not scheduled the delivery yet and would let you know when we do"

I could never talk to Alex after the advance payment. I am buying new furniture now since I have lost all hope. Though I do not expect the service to change drastically now, to be fair, I will update the review based on what happens next.

Long-distance move from Denton, TX to Louisville, CO

Beware - Positive Reviews Are Misleading.

Public Moving Services had high reviews online which was the reason I chose them. I obtained an in apartment quote from another moving company and used that inventory quote to shop around. Public was the most economical in that they promised a quicker delivery time. Up until move day they were great-then I was handed off to another department. On move day the foreman (subcontracted) came in and looked through my apartment at my inventory and said nothing about his thoughts on overages. I opted for them to pack my stuff. 11 hours later at 10:30 at night with 95% of my inventory loaded, they presented me with a new estimate that was more than double my original binding estimate. I told them I wasn't signing the form until I could speak with someone else at the company. They refused and told me they would unload all of my things onto the street unless I signed the new estimate. So I signed it under duress. It also included $450 for 'long carry' and $75 for elevator fees, which should have been included in my original estimate since I made sure they were aware of it before I signed on. I called the next day and was given a small discount. Angela led me to believe my new estimate was for $7499 from the $9800 revision. I did not receive an invoice. The next day my company wired a large amount to them (the original estimate) at which time I received an invoice. It was for $8600! She had used my original deposit to 'discount' my revised estimate. I called and was yelled at and hung up on. Angela refused to assist me and also refused to let me speak with anyone else. The next day I had the same issue with two other people on the phone. Ridiculous. When I asked them why my binding estimate did not turn into a non-binding estimate when I had to sign a new estimate I was told, "no sir, you are wrong, we specifically place everyone in BINDING NOT TO EXCEED estimates. It is different in the eyes of regulations." Unacceptable. On top of that, I am unpacking and have come across upwards of $500 worth of damage and found the complete lack of respect for my things.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!! IF YOU DON'T AVOID BE PREPARED TO HAVE AN EXPERIENCE LIKE OTHERS WHO GOT OVERCHARGED.

People at public moving services have mastered the moving company tricks. They have created a great contract paperwork that will trap you no matter how careful you are. Also they know you don't live in same state as them and it takes time and effort to fight through a lawyer in their state. They will just ignore you once your items are picked up. Like most of victim reviewers said they don't even allow to speak with a human being.

I am also a victim of overcharge of approx. $4000. They will threaten either on day of pickup or day of delivery with extra money. They will not allow to discuss with original guys who signed the contract. Here are some tips on how to avoid these guys.

Let us start with company address on the website.

It is listed as 7706 Waterford Square Dr, Unit 1221 Charlotte, NC 28226. If you check it on google maps it looks like a condo address. Anyone before signing with this company if you checked this it should alert you right away whether it is a genuine company or not.

Now to the contract.

When it says you cannot cancel 21 days prior to day of pick up that should alert you as many genuine companies do not do that.

In the credit card authorization form it's return if you cancel you have to go through claims department . By the way there is no telephone number for claims only emails if you are lucky. so that should alert you something fishy going on. How many companies in USA do not allow a phone call for refunds??

Contract paperwork demands to sign prior to the start of packing process. There are good chances you will leave some empty spots in the paperwork but it will have your signature. so they go back tot he truck after pickup and fill the blanks with whatever they like. Example they will write packing charges as $3000 when you had none. They will add additional cubic feet when you had none. Now at delivery you will see a paper that you signed but not the same amount. If not paid you get threatened of storage charges so you would naturally pay the driver. So what do we call this forging a document or theft or fraud or fraud??

Now for claims as I said previously there is no phone number where you can call and explain the billing dispute. That should alert you something fishy here.

Now what are your options at end of the move if you still hire them.

Go to local cops or go to lawyer or Go to FBI to report?? . even if you do that they will close the current company and open a new one.

So never go unless someone recommends you or have a local mover look at your items and provide an estimate so atleast you know where they are located and how genuine they are.

I am even wondering if this review website is genuine as I don't see posts before April 201?? so not sure how long this post will stay.

Long-distance move from Springfield, VA to Foley, AL

Worst Moving Company EVER!

The BBB lists the company at their Charlotte, NC address as "Your Movintg Company, LLC."
Mover failed to pickup when promised; did not use a large enough truck; has failed to deliver part of the shipment. Binding Estimate issued based on 800 cf. or a 26' van. Owner disputed this as being far too low. Mover agent insisted on their values.
Packers were to arrive on 22-23 may 2017 and truck was to be loaded on 24 May for temporary storage. Movers were unable to meet above dates due to breakdowns and moving crew issues. Movers were not able to load everything in the 26' truck, on 24 May, which was sent to storage warehouse. Second truck showed up at mid-day on 25 May and finished loading late in the day, requiring my wife and I to carry many items out to the garage and driveway so our scheduled cleaning crew could make the house ready for closing.
The second crew started off slow and had to rush to stay ahead of the cleaning crew, who had been scheduled to work in the afternoon. The result was sloppy packing, with items thrown in boxes with no regard to weight or fragility, and ultimately many broken pieces of glass and ceramics. Several antique furniture pieces were heavily damaged as well. No time was available to note room origins of boxes.
In Alabama our house closed on 23 June, and I had requested delivery on 24 June 2017. Delivery at Foley, AL, was originally promised for 4 days after closing, 27-29 June, but the load was delayed. Then we were promised delivery on 4 July, a National Holiday. Finally, delivery was scheduled for 6 July, but the driver could not make it and delivery took place on 7 July, with a crew of 2 men. No BOL document was provided at final delivery, as the driver only had a picture of the pages on his cell phone. Since my printer was not accessible, no hard copy was available on which to note exceptions. Therefore, I did not sign the summary sheet presented by the driver. I did pay all documented charges in advance of offload, for full delivery, as required by contract with mover.
When the van was empty, the following items were missing: 1. Gas lawnmower + 2 empty gas jugs 2. Cast iron beige oval glass-top patio table 3. Two tall solid cherry wood bookcases from office 4. Large solid cherry desk and 3-piece credenza from office 5. Various tools, including post hole digger, tree trimmer, edger, wide shop broom 6. One tall wrought iron chair from set of 2 from garage 7. Two exterior, plastic chaise longues + 2 lawn chairs from patio 8. Craftsman workbench awith wood top from basement 9. Tile inserts for a square cast iron table (garage) 10. White wicker rocker from garage 11. Raleigh men's 3-speed bicycle from garage 12. Two Small green cabinets from kitchen 13. 25 ft folding aluminum ladder from garage. Other items may also be in the missing group, which should have been in the second day pickup at origin.
I have attempted to communicate with mover through two comprehensive emails to and many phone calls over a three month period, requesting information about the missing items and expected delivery date. On each occasion I was able to connect with someone (no left messages were ever returned) I was told that Public was attempting to arrange suitable delivery. They never acknowledged that they still had the items, and never provided a delivery date, thereby violating their own BOL contract provisions. The BBB lists Mr. Alexei Pistun as the POC for the company, based in Charlotte, NC.

Long-distance move from California to Idaho

Horrible Business Ethics.

I write this as I am still waiting in an empty house, for my items to arrive. I wish I could give one rating to the men who came and packed up my stuff, and another to the company, as the movers themselves were very professional, nice and a pleasure to work with. The company, however, has been one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure of working with.

One thing to know about this company is that regardless of what they tell you regarding details of your move, it is fact the fine print in your contract that matters to them, not what they have spoken to you about regarding your specific move.

- I was told VERBATIM on many occasions the the movers would be picking up my items on Sunday. I planned everything around this, including when I would be moving out, turning off utilities, etc. I even confirmed this date with Public Moving Services rep Veronica, via email, the Friday before. She informed me she had in fact received confirmation of this date by her supervisor, Emma. On Saturday evening I get a call letting me know they will be using the 'backup date' of Monday to pick up my items. BACKUP DATE? I never heard a word about this. After moving mountains, I was able to get my apartment to let me stay another day, as well as have other people help me out in my new location and attend to existing appointments and drop offs I had set up. During this confusion I was more than kind and understanding -- as they were quick to remind me, I had in fact signed a contract that included the possibility of a backup date, in the fine print.

- When I spoke with Veronica about setting up my move, obviously one of my questions was about how long it would take for my items to get to me. She let me know, after looking up my addresses, that it would be 2-3 days. This is something she later confirmed again over the phone. However, when I spoke with the movers, they let me know this was not correct and told me they would need to get a confirmed date and would let me know half-way through the packing process. OK, fine. Half-way through the packing process, I brought this up again and the foreman, Alex, called in to the office and let me know it would be on the following Saturday (5 days after pick up). Ok, fine. At the end of the packing, I confirmed this again with Alex, who let me know it was 100% confirmed.

- Saturday came and went with no arrival of my items. I emailed Veronica, called the office, etc. etc. The only responses I received were from Veronica who let me know she had 'nothing yet' regarding the time they would be coming on Saturday. Obviously they would not be coming at all..

- Sunday passed -- Monday I called Customer Service and spoke with Ellie Williams - she was borderline abusive in her tone and clearly set on being of ZERO assistance. She let me know that per the contract that yes, I did in fact sign, it can take up to 18 BUSINESS DAYS FOR MY ITEMS TO ARRIVE! What?! Having something in a contract does not mean you should tell your customers something that is inaccurate and/or leave them completely out of the loop when it comes to changes arising with the move! She refused to let me speak to anyone else, put me through to a bogus voicemail when I tried to leave a message for Emma, and told me that while she would not give me a timeframe, she would let me know about the update from the driver by this afternoon.

- Well, this afternoon I have spent no less than 3 hours on hold with this company, and on the 2 occasions that I made it to the front of the queue, I was picked up and hung up on. I am in SHOCK. It is now 5pm and no word from Ellie.

RUN RUN RUN from this company. They have zero regard for their customers and have no problem with telling someone what they want to hear in order to get a sale. Oh, and I should mention that I was quoted at $4k and the move cost $7k.

NEVER, never Use this company. Customer service employees promise one thing and then do not deliver. Additionally, it is very difficult to get through to talk to someone after you have signed your contract. Long-distance move from Federal Way, WA to Fort Wayne, IN

Horrible company, stay away from them!!

This was a horrible moving service experience! Please stay away from this company! They have competitive ratings, however their customer service is non existent and even though I paid for them to move, pack, unpack, and re-assemble furniture, I received less than half of those services. They did a reasonable job at loading, but after that it went all down hill. The truck driver wanted to charge more since he didn't want to drive down our new residential street with his big rig and then wanted to charge us over $1,000.00 to put it in a smaller vehicle and come back later. Then after my husband convinced him that he could make it, which he was able to, then found out it was only him. There were not other moving guys with him to help him unload. He called the "other" guy and that guy said he wasn't coming due to bad weather. So, I had to have my parents pick up my kids and watch them while my husband and I unloaded and unwrap all of our stuff with the one guy. Some of our stuff was broken too. To top things off I have been trying for over a month now to speak with an actual person and finally when I did get someone (a manager) she said I would have to do a claim that would take 2 to 3 months to even be reviewed! She said that since I had already everything in full I could not do anything else but do a claim. I would not have been able to have gotten my stuff off of the truck if I didn't pay the man. So, her noting this was just crazy to say the least. I have a 7 year old and a 18 month old. Plus work form home. I had to have my stuff and not wait over a month to speak with a representative before getting my stuff. I am very disappointed since I paid extra for something I did not even get. Stay away from this company!

Long-distance move from South Ozone Park, NY to New Orleans, LA

Stay Away!!

So where do I start.. My family and I moved from New York City to New Orleans. Originally picking up our stuff on the 30th of June, we were told that our stuff was going to get to our new home July 5th. Comes July 5th and of course we have to call because they don't even have the decency to call us, they tell us that its an 18 day window FROM the 5th. I asked why they didn't let us know about this when we first did all the paperwork.. anyway 18 days pass by and still no sign of furniture anywhere. We call again. Now they tell us that its a 21 day window.. so we wait a few more days. We call again (mind you every time we call we spend 2+ hours on hold and a lot of the time they hang up, making us wait all over again) and now they tell us its a 21 day window excluding weekends. At this point I am super aggravated and just not in the mood to listen to any of their excuses. So I call once more on 8/3/17 which marks day 21 since the 5th of July. After holding on the phone for an hour and a half, the lady (Emma) tells me that our shipment is still in their warehouse.. in MARYLAND. You mean to tell me over a month has passed and our stuff hasn't even left the tri-state area? LOL what a joke. I told her okay, we are going to pick up our stuff our selves because clearly you people cannot do your job. She then proceeds to tell me that we can't go to the warehouse, that they would have to move our stuff to a storage unit for which we would also have to pay for. She also said that I would still have to pay because they picked up all of the stuff. I let her know we were not paying them for a job they didn't do. Not only that. After they picked up our stuff they added an additional $1000 in fees that god knows where it came from. So here we are.. sitting in an empty house. Today is now 8/7/17 and still NO FURNITURE.

I would honestly give no stars if I could, because clearly these people are incompetent and cannot do their job. I let the lady on the phone know that I was going to get a lawyer because there is no way in h** that we are paying for such crappy service.

Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Dallas, TX

Minneapolis to Dallas.

RUN!!

This company is awful and I wouldn't even advise my worst enemy to use them. From picking up to getting our things it's been a nightmare. They two guys showed up to pick everything up and pack the large items. However only one man did all the work while the other disappeared. They did not take an unloaded shotgun even though it clearly states that it should have been taken. We called the customer service and we are supposed to be compensated for the cost to ship it. Still nothing.

They delivered 4 days late. I called everyday asking where my things were and on the 4th day they said the driver has been trying to contact me.. tough to believe that was the case with no missed calls or voicemails. The driver cussed me out on the phone and refused to deliver our items into our apartment. We had to rent a Penske truck and move in by ourselves, which is wonderful since I paid to not do it myself.

Things are missing, damaged, and ruined. Don't use this company. Their customer service is awful it took a week and 4 phone calls to receive a claims form and all of the service reps act like their moving mountains to do their job. It's insulting.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Grand Forks, ND

Moving Estimate.

Public Storage wrote a "Binding Contract" to my girlfriend, $2700 to move her apt belongings from San Diego to North Dakota. Binding?! - Not even close! They insisted on an additional $6,000-9,000 when they arrived (in scruffy clothes, unmarked truck, two days late - not the drug tested, experienced, professionals that they promised either). The movers acted like the existing terms and paperwork didn't matter one bit (and it didn't, to them). Customer Phone Service was the worst, words cannot describe how rude and dismissive this company was to my girlfriend. Placed on hold, no consistent dialogue, no managers, just pay it or leave I, and in cash!. We left it. Rented a truck and hired temp workers. This firm talks a great game, but is disengenious from the get -go. Do not trust your stuff to them. THis is NOT a legit business. They are untouchable as it is interstate and very confusing to follow-up. When you are moving, you are their vulnerable target. 60 Minutes needs to investigate. Read the good reviews carefully, they don't addup.

I will also be contacting the Sacremento, CA Police department to file a police report as this is where the gentlemen who moved my goods are located.

I am also contacting the department of transportation to report this organization and stolen property to see if they can help.

to Howard, Public, Public, Public, angela

I am looking for an update. I have not received any communication back on my previous 5 emails. This will be the 6th email. I have left another 3 messages since Friday Sept 8. Your voicemail says all email and voicemails will be returned, yet I have not received a call.

I am merely looking for some very simple communication on to the whereabouts and expectations of when I can expect my goods.

Best regards,

Hi Ellie and/or Angela or to whom it may concern,

This is my 5th email since August 28th, 2017. I have yet to recieve a call or email back to any of those emails.

I am writing to follow up on my move. I have attached the contracts for #PS##

I have 3 questions.

My first move in date available as you can see on the contract is 7/31/17. It states in the contract 4-21 business days for delivery for distances of 1001-1500 miles. Our distance is around 1243 miles. I believe this makes today the 29th business day.

I have not received my goods. I have yet to receive communication on the status of my goods.

Can I please get an update?

You can also see that the fridge was in the original quote. I was charged an additional $300 for my fridge. Can

I would expect this to be credited back or taken off the final total.

Thanks.

Long-distance move from Jamaica, NY to Plano, TX

Breached contract by not delivering our items.

After 30 business days of first available date, my stuff is still not delivered. According to the contract, this should have been delivered Aug 11th.

Job # PS2777891, move from Jamaica, NY to Plano, TX. This move is between 1501-2000 Miles. According to the contract, it should have been delivered between 4-24 Business Days of the First Date(FAD). My first available date was July 11th. Based on the calendar, 24 business dates from July 11th is Aug 11th but I still do not have any update whatsoever. We have three young kids and it has been extremely difficult and inconvenient to live out of a suitcase. The schools start in the next week or so and we have nothing for kids after more than a month of our first available date.

Emma from dispatch is least helpful. I get a standard response, "no updates, will call you when I have an update."

Everything the sales person, Tommy, told me turned out to be a lie. He assured me that my stuff will be delivered on July 11th, he told me that he has a good estimate of my inventory list and that the "binding estimate" will not go over $500, he said the movers will bring blankets for the furniture, he said he will be my moving coordinator and will guide me throughout the process, I could call him on his cell. Every single thing was a lie. He never answered any of my several calls or emails after the conversations we had well BEFORE the move. He just went missing after I paid the deposit.

The movers charged me an extra $600 because they claimed that I had more stuff than I disclosed. This was a lie because he already already had 300 cubic feet worth of moving stuff in his truck and I had no choice but to pay because my stuff was already in the truck and I had to move out of my apartment that day. Whatever, I paid him whatever he asked, I moved on from that but I didn't expect them to not deliver my stuff. This has been an absolute nightmare so far.

Long-distance move from Iowa to California

Please Please Please don't do buisness with them.

I don't know how or where I should start. Alex, the sales person, is fraud, dishonest and only deliver sweet words before you pay 25% advance payment. At that time, you don't need to leave a voice message to reach him, once he recognizes that you are a potential customer, he will call you back as soon as he sees your number.
Their initial estimate is just to lure you to do business with you. The real horrible scenes start just one day before your furniture pick-up date. The new estimate was an away higher than the original one. After going through a huge altercation with that person who went over my inventory, the estimate came down to the initially quoted one. But the story doesn't end here.. The real story unfolds when they show up your place and pick up your furniture. Alex, the fraud, assured me I wouldn't pay a single penny more than what I was quoted for. Now after loading my furniture, the new charge was $1000 more than the quoted one. How? I have a total of 9 steps on my stairs, first eight is free, but for extra one $75 more. Then the truck was parked by my apartment, but the distance from my door to the truck was120 ft, again the first 75ft is free, but for the additional 45 ft, extra $75. The initial estimate was for 500 sq ft, but the driver said it too 600 sq ft, so add $375. I am not done here.. On top of all of these, there were additional $400 for the materials they used to pack my stuff. After going through huge altercation with the extremely rude, bad-behaved driver and one of the members in dispatch team, they reduce the materials charge to $200. Still much higher than the original quote. That pick-up day was the most stressful day in my entire life. They just tried to charge you as much as possible. I couldn't sleep that night after all of these that I went through.

The story was not over yet.. I paid the half by writing a check and this time, giving a check is fine with them. I moved to my new address. I call the dispatch unit. Emma from the dispatch unit said she doesn't know when it would be delivered. I would get a call when there are any updates about the delivery. Surprisingly, soon after that call, I received a call saying my furniture would be delivered tomorrow!! Okay good, but still praying to GOD so that everything goes well. The driver, another extremely rude person, told me that he was coming with a 18-wheelers and I should check if my apartment had enough space for that!! After going through several calls, the driver said there was no way he could deliver my furniture by 18-wheelers, so I have to pay $300 more for U-haul to bring my furniture and he would only take cash -No check. I was so upset and I had no money other than what I supposed to pay, but I just wanted to have my furniture back. So I I got some cash from my credit card by paying high interest and charge.
The driver came and behaved very badly. He came to my apartment and said he would not unload my furniture until I paid him full -only cash. So I did. I thought I would be done with them. No the story hasn't finished it yet. The driver started to unload our furniture and we were receiving them shattered. So many items were completely broken. My wife started crying seeing these. One of my box was missing. Another the worst day for us in our entire life. The driver now said he was a subcontractor and he didn't share any responsibility of broken pieces (because he got the cash from me already). So I should contact the main office.

Now no one received my phone -The dispatcher, The fraud Alex, The customer service. I left voice messages so many times and didn't get any reply. Once I got hold of the customer service, they sent me a form to file a claim, which would take 4 months to process. I lost my patience dealing with them and just prayed to GOD to do something on our behalf.

The last thing: all of the good, five-star reviews are written by them so that they can get new customers.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Annapolis, MD

Public Moving Services Charlotte, NC THE worst!!

Do NOT use this company. I have NEVER written a negative review, but this company is full of crooks. They have not delivered my things from over a month ago. They gave a completely false 'binding' estimate and then charged me double when they came to pick up my things. My family with three children have been sleeping on air mattresses for a month and we have literally nothing in our home. They say they are BBB approved, that is a lie! Do not use this company!!

Do Not Use Them.

Our things were picked up on 6/21/17 and we have not seen our stuff yet 8/24/2017. They do not return calls and emails. You wait for a very long time on the phone and sometime you don't even get to talk to a person. We have informed them that our daughter's equipment is on board and that we need it as soon as possible. They did not care. They told us they cannot find the driver. DO NOT USE THEM!!

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Virginia

Beware dishonest scam.

We had a great sales (scam) person who gave a terrible estimate. Movers showed up one day late at 5:30pm to do a full pack for a family of 5, 3 bedroom house. After they started packing they said we had way more stuff and it was going to be more than double the original estimate. We told them, no and to pack as many cubic feet as we had estimated for. They were very unhelpful. Of course since it was so late, their offices were closed so we could not call. After our stuff was on the truck they had us sign a contract. It was midnight, dark, our stuff was already on the truck. We were promised 1-3 day delivery. It has been 16 days. We have not received our belongings. They will not tell us where they are or when they will be delivered. They promise to return calls and do not. They only say they are still in their legal window. According to the fine print on the contract that is 30 days. Who would pay over $7,000 to have your items delivered a month later. They are liars and scam artists. We have a disabled child and two other small children. It was been a nightmare. The local news has even done a piece on it.

Local move within California

Do not use this company, don't even think about it.

The worst - Their positive reviews on Yelp (one of the factors that caused me to choose them) must be fake. Every step of the process has been painful: movers showed up 9 hours late after giving me 0 notice and causing me to take off work unnecessarily. Then the movers told me that they wouldn't take my stuff unless I paid them for a fee that I specifically negotiated to be free (and said was free on the moving quote).

Now, on the other end of things, I have no idea when my shipment will be delivered. I'm a couple days before the end of my legal window, and every time I try to call customer service, it takes 40+ minutes to speak to someone, the same person tells me she'll call me back later in the day when dispatch comes in, and then she never calls me back (Sabrina). When they do email me, it's a generic message saying they have no update, keep waiting. I'm going on vacation in a little over 2 weeks and have no idea whether I'll get my stuff before I'm unavailable to receive delivery for 3 weeks.

This is literally starting to affect my work productivity because I have to call and be on hold for an hour at least a couple times a week with no progress.

Do not use this company.

Long-distance move from Fort Collins, CO to Waleska, GA

Quick, easy, reliable.

I could not be happier with how my move went. The guys turned up on time and managed to get everything out of my house without an issue and fast too, despite the difficult stairs at my apartment. The rest of the move went without issue as well. Before the process even started, I had gotten a phone call previously from Buck, who had set everything up for me, they did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. If I needed to move again I would use them.

Long-distance move from Bay Shore, NY to Boca Raton, FL

Moving experience.

I normally don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to because of the attention to detail that these guys showed me. My late father was a woodworker, so I have a few delicate, priceless custom desks, jewelry boxes, and a vanity that he made for my mom. I was very nervous about moving these items across the country, but Shawn Allan assured me that our items would be treated as a precious cargo. The first thing that was on the movers list as soon as they walked through the door were my fragile items. They specially wrapped them and placed them on aside to be placed carefully on the truck when packed. The delivery arrived a couple of hours later than I expected, but other than that they set up my new place for me and my Dad's stuff made it with no issues. I would definitely use these guys again.

Long-distance move from Palm Beach, FL to Danbury, NC

Great move I highly recommend Public Moving Services.

I move a lot due to my job. I've had a few bad experiences in the past. However after speaking with my moving consultant James McCarthy and realizing that he covered every aspect of the move so that there would be nothing that I would be surprised about. He did a thorough inventory with went over things that I should pack to save money and items that he recommended having them pack. On the day of the move the movers should up within the time window that I was told. The movers were fantastic. They were clean, very professional, and did an all around great job. My stuff got delivered within n the window James told me. The delivery was even smoother. I have all ready told the owner of my company and we will be using Public Moving Services for the rest of our company moves. I would definitely recommend Public Moving Services.
