Long-distance move from Texas to California

Good moving company.

Our experience with Presto Logistics was very good.  They showed up on time for the pick up and handled the process cordially. They delivered our belongings 15 days later.  The delivery staff was very nice and helpful. Henry oversaw the delivery process which made everything go smoothly.  He was also a pleasure to deal with on every level.  He replied quickly to emails and phone calls.  I greatly appreciate his help. I would recommend Presto Logistics as a responsible and courteous moving company. .

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Scammers!! Be aware.

This is by far the worst moving company in the United States. I decided to hire Presto because the "low" quote that Darryl presented to me over the phone and all the "fake" reviews in this site. The quote was at least two thousand dollars less than other moving companies in the area. The first thing I explained to these scammers was that this was military move and I needed to know how much was going to cost me to move 6,000 lbs from California to Texas. The reason why I needed to know the weight cost is because the military reimburse service members moving expenses based on the weight. Darryl quoted me for this weight $3,643. Amazing I thought, but the only thing  these scammers forgot to mention, was the fact that they charge based on the total used space and not by the total weight. The day of the move, after arriving 4 hours late one of the movers informed me  based on the quantity of items in my house that the total cost of my move could of increased. I then asked him why? That's when the mover explained to me that Presto don't charge based on weight but on the used spaceand they had some "packing materials charges". At this point I had no other choice but to let them start because I had to vacate my house the next day. Guess what? once they finished with the wrapping and moving my belongings into the truck they came with the total cost. After the total used space and the used packing materials, ladies and gentlemen it was $6,646.24!! an almost 100% increase from the original quote, needless to say I almost had a heart attack. They charged my $1,865 in packing materials and my used space was almost $5,000. I could go on and on, on how I tried to solve this robbery with the "managers" at Presto without any resolution but they don't deserve my time nor yours. The day of the delivery "they were on time this time" when unwrapped our belongings 25-30% had some damage and the movers made a hole on one of our walls trying to move one of our couches. I already filed a complaint with the Federal Transportation Comission and the Army Transportation Command and hopefully the outcome of this complaint will prevent this criminals to take advantage of the Armed Forces Service Members and any other person in need of a honest moving company.  .

Long-distance move from California to Arizona

Lack of Integrity.

I can not recommend Presto Logistics. Please learn from my mistake of not being more skeptical and scrutinizing. While they did do a competent and professional job on the actual move, the experience of doing business with them was ultimately profoundly negative for me. The most significant point being that the move ultimately cost me $900 more than the quote. What I suspect, but can not prove, is that I was intentionally quoted low in order to get my business, and they fully expected to charge me significantly more.

For your consideration:

** Unlike most people moving, I was not moving from a home or office and in any way estimating the amount of items to move. My items were in a storage unit whose exact dimensions I gave to John. John said that based on all his years in the business, he would provide me a "worst case scenario" quote. He said that that the amount of the quote would be the "most" I could expect to pay. His movers would be able to fit the items in even smaller than I could.

And yet, when the movers showed up on the day, I was told that my items were taking up more room than they were supposed to (remember I gave the exact dimensions) and that they were going to have to charge me extra for the extra space. (Mea culpa: I did not catch that the square footage in the quote was NOT what John and I discussed, so legally they are covered.) $385 charge.

**When I was discussing the quote with John and I balked at the price, he said he needed to consult his colleague. He did not successfully put me on hold and I overheard part of their conversation. Abe told John a number about $800 more than what John came back on the phone and told me. At the time, I thought, John was working hard to give me a good deal. What I think now is that they always intended to get that amount of money and intentionally told me the lower amount to get my business.

**My friend's move turned out to be about $900 more than his quote, too.

**When they showed up to move my friend, they started shrink wrapping his furniture to protect it. That's fine, but they never once mentioned that they were going to do that, and they charged my friend a significant amount of money for this service. Legally, there is a clause saying they will charge you for additional packing, so again, they're covered.

However, when my friend told me about this, I called John and asked about the shrink wrapping business and if that was included in the $250 of free packing materials he had offered me to get my business. He said, not to worry and that I would only have to pay for extra packing if I was moving a flat screen TV or China cabinet or the like. I was not.

The reality: The charged me $614 for packing materials and to be nice gave me $120 credit. Again, at no point did John mention anything about the shrink wrap that they will charge you for. They only tell you that the moving blankets are included.

**Before my move, I called John to ask if they could combine my move with my friend's move and make a deal. I called them specifically because they were moving my friend. He said that there was just no way they could do something like that.

After I called to question all these extra charges, John tried to mollify me by telling me what a great VIP move they were doing for me because they were combining my move with my friend's (which they denied they could do) and giving me next day delivery (which I neither requested nor particularly wanted.)

**I had to call them to find out if they were going to show up for my move. They said they would have called the day before to confirm that they would be there. For a cross country move, I needed to know if they were showing up so I could make arrangements with someone else if they weren't.

**They demand that you pay them in cash or postal money order. After they had my possessions, I got several phone calls about making sure that I knew how much money they were charging me and that I would have cash for them. Perfectly within their rights, but I tell you, it felt like a shake down. Also, I am not comfortable walking around with several thousand dollars in cash for one, and handing it over to some stranger for two. So you have to buy postal money orders to pay them. So, essentially, you have to spend even more money to pay them. And you will do it because they have your things.

They get away with this because:
--By the time they show up, you are in the desperate hassle of moving, and probably don't want to start over.
--They have a 2 day notice clause for cancellation, so even if you were willing to start over with a different company, you will have to pay them to go away.
--The guys who do the actual moving are courteous and professional, we all like to think of ourselves as nice people and are unlikely to confront those guys.
--You will probably believe it is your fault they have to charge you so much because you have so much stuff and you don't know how to pack.

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Worst Move Ever.

I have moved over 20 times in my life being both an Army brat and a member of the Army myself, and this company was by far the worst I have ever experienced.
Abe from Presto was the first phone call from an online moving inquiry from Cali to Texas. I agreed to allow an estimate moving crew to come inspect the items I was shipping. Abe informed me that he would be emailing me the paperwork and I in said I didn't have access to the internet where I was so he went over some of the larger points in the contract. He failed to mention to me was that if the movers had to walk more than 75 feet or use an elevator, I would be charged an extra $75. My storage unit was on the 2nd story and was "225 feet" away from the truck, even though it had elevator access and push carts available. So when the movers arrived to give me an on site estimate, they guessed the square footage of my belongings and high ball estimated them at 400-500 square feet. Having moved many times before this, I knew that number to be wrong and instead believed the number to be near 320. Knowing that their pricing rate varied from square ft, I accepted the extra $150 in elevator and walking fees since it would be offset by the lower volume of my belongings.
After packing up the truck, the moving crew chief, Bill, said I was being charged for 400 square feet. Bill told me this without showing me on the truck how this all added up, so I asked him to walk me through it. Once we got into the truck, I showed Bill how there was 40 square feet I was being overcharged for that in no way could be contested by him. Bill seemed annoyed, and said that fine he would lower the number to 360. I knew that if I pushed the issue, I could show him the other 40 square feet he was overcharging me on. It was a long day and I didn't feel like arguing the point however.
When my goods arrived in Texas, it was again Bill who I was forced to deal with. Besides taking payment only in cash or money order and not having any change, thus forcing me into automatically tipping him. I watched as Bill dropped my items without any concern. Per contract, Bill was to re-assemble my furniture which he disassembled in California. This was not done, and Bill claimed it was because I was loading it into a storage space and then glared at me claiming he didn't have tools. One of my boxes wasn't even closed, and Bill didn't seem to care that I had to jump into the moving truck to gather up personal belongings that had fallen out. Additionally, two items of furniture were broken, and many of my belongings were needlessly covered with extremely adhesive tape, which I have still not gotten off.
Immediately after my goods were delivered I called up Presto and asked to speak to whomever was in charge. I was offered 40 square feet compensation.
5 phone calls and one month later I'm still trying to get compensated. The latest move by Presto was to send me paperwork to file my claim which turned out to be a waiver of liability which I will not sign.
I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Impressed.

My name is Dafnee and I had recently posted two reviews on Presto Logistics because I was very dissatisfied with their service. On Tuesday Sept 28th, John surprised me with a call apologizing for the way I was feeling about the service they provided. I thought it was a very thoughtful thing to do but what really impressed me the most was; the fact that he definitely did the most honorable thing; he tried to compensate me as much as possible for the extra money I had to spend. I have to say that I am very, very impressed by his action. I never thought in a million years the team at Presto Logistics would care about the way I was feeling. Thank you Presto Logistics Team!

Long-distance move from California to Colorado

Buyer Beware!! do Your Homework Before Using!!

Recently Presto Logistics performed a move for me from California to Colorado. John (the salesperson) quoted a price that was supposedly the 'best case scenario'. Well come moving day, the movers were on-time, that is where the 'feel good' experience ended. The moving supervisor went over the paperwork and charges which were $600 higher then the supposed 'best case scenario' quote. John neglected to add all the crating and wrapping to move some of the furniture .. more then likely to get my business (bait and switch at its best)! The items were delivered to the destination late with scratches and dents on all the furniture, some damaged beyond repair (broken glass, broken coffee leg, and one item (bedroom end table) was missing/stolen. All this 'tender loving care' occurred because of the extra money I had to pay for the special packing and crating--- give me a break! When I contacted the driver about being late, the response I received was yelling and screaming between abusive language. I should have been the one screaming since I had to pay the receivers on the delivery end double the anticipated cost.

Oh course, they want their payment in cash or postal money order because then you have no recourse. Now I can see why!

When honest Abe and John were presented with the issue of damaged furniture, they said no problem we will get someone out right away to fix it. Well three weeks passed and we were the ones that had follow-up. Called take the money and run forget integrity, honesty and commitment to contractual obligations.

Well here we are in mid-October still dealing with lack of follow-up from a early August move. We finally told Presto lets just settle this for a dollar amount and put this to bed. I spoke with John and we come to an agreement on a settlement amount. He was to bring the money in the same fashion as we gave to him (cash). I'm sure you know the answer to this story already. Well, John didn't show up on Friday as agreed upon .. no call, no email. Followed up on Monday, John is sick again. Well on Thursday, only after our follow-up, honest Abe and John were ready to pay up. When we arrived to pick up the money, John basically called me a liar about the agreed upon settlement amount (low balled the amount of course) and didn't have it in cash as agreed upon. Wanted us to take a check with a wink and a trust me .. you got to me kidding. So basically, I have broken, scratched, dented and missing furniture and the issue still is not resolved. Obviously, Presto Logistics has no intention of making good on their promises. I guess I should have checked a little closer beyond the 'smoke and mirrors' to get the full picture on how they operate their business.

All of this is public record with a little digging:
-Secretary of State, California - Presto Logistics Corporation - suspended
- California PUC - regulatory and governing body for movers that operate in and from the State of California. Presto Logistics is not licensed or registered
- City of Agoura - Does not have a business license to do business in the City (new location is 28310 Roadside Dr #210 Agoura, CA)
They do have DOT and MC ICC registration but that is where it ends. Insurance .. I'll let you do the research!

All I can say is do your homework and look elsewhere if want honesty, integrity and a job well done!

Long-distance move from Texas to California

Moving.

I just moved from Austin, Tx to Los Angeles, Ca for work and was researching moving companies for more than a month. Not only was presto logistics more friendly than the other moving companies (including the major ones who will remain nameless), but they were far more professional and customer safe. The representative I spoke with over the phone was courteous and did everything he could to save me money, as far as the actual move was concerned. I have an extensive collection of fragile cups and shot glasses and not a single item was broken when my belongings got here. The movers were clean and well kept and I had no second guesses about letting them into my home and leaving them alone with my things. If your looking for a first rate moving company that will treat you and your furniture with care, I highly recommend presto logistics.

Long-distance move from California to Georgia

Everything went as planned.

I used Presto Moving to move my apartment. We scheduled a pickup, the crew was prompt and very knowledgeable. Other than a plastic broom stick that got crushed, none of our items had any damage, and the job was delivered a day earlier than expected (they told me 7 days, and it was only 6). I would recommend Presto Moving to anyone moving from California.

Long-distance move from New York to California

Props given where Props are due!

I recently moved from New York to California, I was actually picked up in mid-August and I went away on vacation for 5 months and could not receive my delivery until January 10th. When the guys came to my house they wrapped and packed everything in no time and they were on there way. Presto had no problem holding onto my goods for the entire time and after the free first month of storage they gave me amazing discounts being that I was in storage for an extra 4 months. Once I got back to the states I gave Presto a call and told them I was ready for my delivery, they were there in 2 days. Every step of the way was not only a breeze but also a pleasure. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for great service. Props given where props are due.

Long-distance move from California to Arkansas

Outstanding Movers.

We are career military, and this was our 19th move in 30 years. Throughout our career, the military provided excellent movers, who were paid top dollar for our moves, and in general, they went well. I retired recently, and this was the first move that we had to pay for on our own, and we were concerned. We got quotes from several companies, and ended up going with Presto Logistics. We worked with Abe the estimator, and Abe sent out a top notch team lead by Bill Lynam.

I don't exaggerate when I say that Bill and his team are the best we have had in 30 years of moving. They were very smart, very efficient, strong, very honest, and provided the best move we have had, period.

Presto Logistics earned my strongest personal recommendation.. they are awesome, and the best in the business that I have ever seen in 30 plus years of hard moves. It is never easy to move, but these guys really rocked! Who knows what kind of experience we might have had with other movers, but I seriously doubt it could have been any better. If you need to move, call Abe at Presto, and ask for Bill to lead the team.. you won't be disappointed.
