Long-distance move from Doncaster, Yorkshire to Inverness, Highland

South Yorkshire to North Skye.

Requested 4 quotes from removal companies. Two local, one national and one international. One never bothered to reply, one did not reply until the day we moved, one quoted double the other so we went with Pickfords. Wise decision. They came on time, brought boxes, mobile wardrobes, sheets to cover the carpets and padding for delicate objects. Loaded quickly, packed thoroughly, quick cup of tea then set off. Day and a half driving then straight on with the unloading. Everything straight into place, mess cleared up then back on the road. No damage whatsoever, no mess and no drama. There was nothing could have improved the service we received. Wherever you are moving to, do not risk you precious possessions to any one else.

Redelivery out of storage.

Everything was in perfect order after 5 months in storage. The two chaps who carried out the redelivery were v fast and efficient as well as personable and patient. They reassembled the bed, and put everything where it was convenient for us.

My only quibble is that we weren't sent a msg to tell us a more specific delivery time.

All in all a good service, and I would recommend Pickfords without hesitation.

(I was rather surprised that the delivery van was blank ie no Pickfords logo..?

International move from Durham, County Durham to , NT

Items Comprehensively Damaged due to Negligence.

My wife and I recently completed a three year stint in the UK, and upon recently completing our move back to Australia, we can confidently say that our experience with Pickfords was woeful. For our move from Australia to the UK in 2016, we secured the services of ‘Allied Pickfords’. They laboured the point that they were a distinct company from Pickfords UK, and I can see now why they were at such pains to do so. As a point of direct comparison, I cannot compliment Allied Pickfords enough. From the very beginning they were professionalism itself. When the agent showed up, she walked us through the entire process. She showed us the quality of the boxes they were using, which she confidently stated could take 90kg of weight. She helped us strategise about shipping times, so that our items would be away from us for the shortest time possible. She explained carefully their policy concerning pricing. And she even gave us tips regarding the packing process, including putting signs up to help tell the packers what to pack and what to leave. And the packers were fantastic. They wrapped everything so carefully, and stacked them in the boxes so neatly, that I can honestly say that we did not have a single breakage. And not one nick on our furniture. And even when we forgot to pack a carpet, their drivers went out of their way to come and grab it. In summary, they were friendly and supportive during the whole process. In light of this experience, we had great expectations for Pickfords for our return move. But we could not have been more disappointed. The agent whom we first met was fine; friendly and competent, if unforthcoming with information. It was only because I was so familiar with the process that I gleaned different pricing arrangements. There was no discussion about the boxes, and no strategizing on shipping times. As a result, we were without our furniture for three months. But the worst experience came with the packers. They were so immediately unprofessional that, despite expecting movers at a certain time, when they arrived my immediate thought was to ask them to leave, as packers were arriving. There were no uniforms, no welcome, and no discussion regarding the process. They seemed genuinely confused that we had put up signs concerning what to pack and what not to pack. We then retreated into a room to take care of our cat, but I wish now that I had stood over them like a hawk; something I otherwise hate doing. Their work in packing our items was so sloppy. As examples, regardless of the size of various items, everything got one (and only one) sheet of paper. This was fine for cutlery, but big platters and vases were not even wholly covered. Some boxes had only one or two items in them, so that they rattled around the whole trip. There were items left all over the place that they neglected to pack, not checking the back of cupboards. Some of these I was lucky enough to catch, others we didn’t catch until later. We had to put these in our luggage, taking up precious space, living out of our luggage as we were for three months. And upon being informed of this, they merely threw these items into boxes, without wrapping them! In the end we learnt that Pickfords didn’t pack this at all, but rather sub-contracted a group called Houltons to do all of this. So when you pay for Pickfords, you don’t even get it! We were so excited when our items finally arrived, having been living out of luggage for three months. But what was an exciting day could not have been more comprehensively ruined. Practically every box that we opened had damaged items. Every single bit of furniture was scratched, and had its corners smashed in. Box after box we would pick up you could already hear the breakages. All of our wine glass sets, most of which were wedding presents, have now been torn apart, with one or two smashes on each. More of our platters and plates were smashed due to carelessness; again presents from our family and friends. But most telling of all was that there was one box with two items: a 10kg mortar and pestle, and a Royal Doulton cake stand I bought for my wife’s 21st birthday. The pestle, being small, was wrapped and wrapped in the one sheet of paper. The cake stand, not at all. Big surprise: the cake stand was smashed to pieces. How could anyone, let alone professional movers, have not foreseen that happening? We also moved a lot of books, and we should all know that with minimal care books are basically impossible to damage. It just takes a second (literally a second!) to stack them semi-carefully. Instead, it was evident that the books had just been picked up by the armful and dropped into the boxes. Some fell sideways, spine down, and so the pages were all bent back by the books piled carelessly on top. This was a reoccurring feature in dozens of these boxes. Regarding the boxes themselves, unlike the super-tough ones Allied Pickfords used, these were just your garden variety boxes, like the ones you get form the supermarket. Most of them had actually collapsed under the weight of the things piled on top of them. No wonder everything smashed and got bent and scratched. The computer and television were packed with slightly more care, being put in their own boxes. But even these boxes were not filled with any other protection. No styrofoam or anything that we got from the Australia-> UK move. It was a miracle these came in unharmed. Just a brief interlude to say that the guys from Kent, who had the job of unpacking things in Australia, could themselves not have been better. They were so friendly, so energetic, and so sympathetic for all of our breakages. They would comment when some item would come in broken or scratched, and gave us a pat on the back. Top guys all! To make everything clear: these breakages and scratched occurred, not due to things reasonably expected from an international move, which we could entirely understand. They were down to negligence. Their breaking was not merely a possibility, but an inevitability. Anyone, let alone ‘professional’ movers, could have foreseen that these things would break. They would have broken if they were being moved down the street, let alone overseas. It was a travesty. We have filed an insurance claim with Pickfords, for a very modest sum. It doesn’t even cover all of the scratches on the furniture, or the breaking up of our glass and plate sets. And it doesn’t even cover any of the pain and suffering from seeing treasured wedding and birthday gifts from friends and family being smashed. Even those books whose pages were not bent completely backwards we didn’t bother claiming. We could have claimed for so much more, but we settled on the modest sum of $2000. They are already building up to rejecting it, and giving us nothing. I do not, however, even see it relevant to go through insurance. These items were not broken due to reasonable expectations of damages associated with moving. They were not even the result of exceptional circumstances, like the whole shipping crate falling over. Instead, they were the inevitable result of out-and-out negligence in the moving process. Given all this, I cannot but recommend any other company for your international move. Anyone else would have taken more care at any point.  TLDR: Our items arrived broken due to the negligence and incompetence of the movers. They have clearly never packed for a move, domestic/international, professional/personal before.  £3000.

Awful.

I would give zero star for this company! I had some items in storage for a few months( which cost me £184 a month, Which I thought it would be well taking care of because I was relocating to a new city. Unfortunately, most of my items were demaged, broken, scratched, missing and dirty. I don’t recommend Pickfords to anybody!! Awful, worse moving company that you can find!
Not professional and seems not to care for its customers! They only care for customers money.

Please do not use that company! Overpriced! Disappointed.

International move from Liverpool, Merseyside to Bologna, Emilia-Romagna

Extremely poor service and customer care.

I have chosen Pickfords for my international relocation from Wirral to Bologna, in Italy, and despite of being the most expensive company I could find, the service is extremely poor.

I was promissed to have my goods delivered within 2 to 4 weeks from dispatch, but with prior confirmation and agreement.

After 2 a bit more than weeks with no contact from the company, we decided to chase them. They reacted saying they were ready to deliver, probably on the week after. No confirmation of date was given, and we were trying every day to get some feedback, as we had only that week of holidays before starting working in Italy. Since there was no confirmation at all, we decided to go away from the city for 3 days, on a Wednesday.

Later on the same day, they decided to answer our email and ask if they could deliver the goods on Friday that week, to what I said no, as I was away, and requested to postpone it to the next Monday.
They came back telling me that I would have to pay an extra of EUR 1K in this case, as the goods were on their way to Bologna already!

I immediately complained to the Move Manager about my dissapointment with the costs and lack of agreement about the date before shiping after not hearing anything from them for few weeks.
In any case, to avoid more delays and costs, my husband came back to Bologna (from our already paid holidays) to receive the goods.

On the date defined by Pickfords, goods were delivered, but the staff informed us that they would not be able to reassemble the furniture (that they disassembled and packed themselves), since the parts were not properly identified.

We have contacted the Move Manager via email to request a date for them to come back and reassemble the furniture, but we never got any reply.

We also requested him in a separate email to send someone to collect the boxes after we have finished to unpack few days later, also never heard back from Pickfords.

On top of all of it, several items were damaged and scratched.

In summary, the delivery date was decided without any confirmation from our side, the reassemling, removal of boxes and packing material were not done (despite of being included in the price), and we paid for the most expensive service ever.

I would strongly advise anyone against using this company.

Poor service.

I asked about details fro removal earlier this year and submitted a full list of my requirements. I then asked in August could we move. Had to submit the details again, then again then again it seemed every email was a test to see if I could repeat myself. Then they come back with a quote of £1500 - to move no more than a small van's worth of stuff, no furniture. They wasted my time over a period of a month with the pointless questions then came back with a quote which was too late for my desired move date.

How not to move house - employ Pickfords.

We moved house last Thursday/Friday 6th 7th September. The crew on the first day initially appeared friendly and willing however as the day went on that changed. The language of one of the crew was appalling and I heard derogatory remarks being made about our home contents. I was perturbed by their packing skills, clothes were thrown into boxes, pictures were stacked without any protective covering in boxes. Day two was to finish packing and remove items less than 5 miles away. On inspection of the vacated property several items had been left behind, including a Chinese rug, several items of valuable china, golf clubs to mention but some. I have pictures. In the end my husband had to hire another van at very short notice to remove what they had left behind. Our hired van was full. A telephone call was made to our local office before 5pm on Friday to report dissatisfaction but to date no follow up has been received. We feel very let down by their service. Recommend to others not a chance.

Moving twice within 3 months.

I have moved twice in the past 3 months- from Nottingham to Salisbury, where my things went into storage,s and then again just recently from storage into a rental property. I have used Pickfords twice. I cannot thank Chantelle Choudray and Rachel Walsh sufficiently for their help and attention. Chantelle even answered the phone one evening at 6.45pm on a Friday! Both times the removals team were polite, efficient, and cheery at what was potentially a very stressful time. Nothing was damaged or broken, either of my belonging or the property I moved out of or the one I moved into. They even spent 45 minutes trying to get my washing machine, which I had plumbed in, into a small "made to fit cupboard" and didn't complain about moving a bookcase which I had sent upstairs then changed my mind, or when I sent them up to the balcony to get the sofa in and it would not fit through the door so they had to carry it back down again. The service was worth every penny and when I move again I will definitely be using Pickfords.

Long-distance move from Oxford, Oxfordshire to Oxford, Oxfordshire

Excellent packers, appalling after-move service.

We used Pickfords for a pack-and-move of a four-bed house, and found them very helpful beforehand. We needed to move at short notice and the move manager used their wider network to find us availability at the last minute.
The movers themselves were brilliant - professional, friendly, and highly efficient - despite having travelled 2+ hours each way due to being out-of-area.
On the other hand, our experience after the move has been atrocious. Our fridge was damaged in the move (these things happen I guess) but despite immediately reporting it and sending photos of the damage, we were offered firstly 10% of the value, and then a final offer of 50% of the value "because the damage could have happened for other reasons". Impossible to think how we could have done things differently such that we could prove it to their satisfaction, short of photographing everything in our house!
This left a really nasty taste in our mouths after what was otherwise an excellent service. Thank goodness is was only a fridge and not something even more valuable.

Long-distance move from Oxford, Oxfordshire to Eastbourne, East Sussex

Poor service.

Move manager - Charles Graham

Sadly, our experience with Pickfords has been sub standard. This was our first time moving house, we contacted several companies, got quotes and decided to go with Pickfords. They were the most expensive, but we were confident in their abilities.
We paid for extra insurance to cover our belongings in transit and requested the Pickfords ‘concierge’ service to save time on setting up bills etc at the other end.

The day of the move was fine, problems arose when we started to unpack our belongings. In total Pickfords caused £1000 worth of damage. Several picture frames chipped, snapped and damaged, broken crystal, a wet box with everything in the bottom damaged, a statue smashed into 3 pieces, furniture chipped, antique writing box chipped.

We contacted Charles Graham and informed him of some damaged items and he told us we were outside the 7 day period in which we could claim (please note this isn’t working days, which we believed) But he told us we could claim anyway, he asked us to send a list of the damaged items, when we sent a full list, with photos, and receipts, we were told that the extra items would not be accepted, only the items in the first email could we claim for. In total we have been offered £125 compensation. The insurance premium was £300.

Sadly, in the end, Pickfords turned out to be cowboys for us, at first they are all smiles and charm, but when something actually goes wrong, they don’t answer calls, take up to 10 days to respond and everything else you could expect. We never received any of the complimentary concierge service, when asking for the invoice they send it to the wrong people. All in all a total shambles.
And Charles Graham our move manger was nothing but ineffective and inept.

Please use another company, one that’s half the price and will do a better job, like Britannia.

International move from Plymouth, Devon to , QLD

Move to Australia from uk.

Have only just taken shipment out of storage.six months after delivery.
Found excessive paper wrapping on stupid items ie one small steel egg cup two sheets, even found a small bulldog clip actually wrapped in one whole sheet.
A family heirloom of near 100 years in porcelain and inscribed and non replaceable, had just one sheet of paper, it was a large urn with handles, was packed in a box of kitchen stuff, and when unpacked found the top rim broken,
The consignment was badly identifiable , and all rooms where muddled, lots of boxes marked books, and contained more of other stuff.
Packed my husbands ashes for a service we were going to have when family together, which we had to postpone as we didn't know which box they were in, and had to wait till now as only just found them.
Boxes in some cases were underpacked, with a large item , but light and could have had other items packed around them.
Some boxes were only half full and packed out with paper.
The bed legs were not packed within the bed, and again these have only just been found.
Overall it was a haphazard pack, a lot of space was wasted, and think overall I could have saved at least seven boxes, which as was on a budgets would have helped ,instead had to get rid of stuff that could have come over,as the space was there, just badly used .
Seemed more interested in charging me more at the end of the pack, which now I know was totally unessassary .
I do intend to write to head office. It was from Truro but not on list.

Removal from Whitby to Newcastle.

The whole process was a good experience. The crew of three who carried out the removal were swift and efficient in packing, loading and unloading. They were friendly and helpful as they went about their task, and also went out of their way to smooth our moving in, volunteering to take away various unwanted items. The move manager was very responsive to any demands we made, when her patience must have been tested several times by our suggesting wrongly as it turned out that an item had been lost.

House move : Sheffield to Mansfield Woodhouse.

I have only ever used Pickfords (or Allied for my international moves) when moving house. I have always found them good in that they do what they say they will do when they say they'll do it and for the price agreed - usually several weeks/months before the move actually happens.

With advancing age and ever increasing demands on my time by work, I don't have the energy any more to do certain things and I have reached the point in life where if I can pay someone to do stuff for me instead of having to do it myself then happy days. This time, therefore, I went for the full packing/dismantling service. Plus I opted for the moving dates and late completion waiver insurances. Good job I did.

Our chain wasn't a long one - 4 parties involved in all. But even so, the dates were going backwards and forwards - the final change being on the day I'd already made payment to Pickfords. Initially, when I asked my move coordinator to change the dates she said "sorry, we can't do that date - we've no crews available" (or moving out day was 29th May - the day after the Spring Bank Holiday. I didn't actually beg her - more pleaded - to do her best to find a crew for me. If she couldn't do so, I'd have been forced to change the dates again and from previous to'ing and fro'ing, I knew that would push us back at least 3 weeks and we were desperate to make the move happen. This whole move had been on and off for about 8 months and I was rapidly reaching my own snapping point and liable to just throw in the towel.

Anyway, bless her socks (I am not sure I can name names in here so I won't but if she reads this, the lady up in Newcastle knows I am talking about her now) - she managed to get us a crew.

On completion day, the solicitors of our new home's owners, took an age to clear the payments. Completion happened 5 hours later than my two solicitors expected/hoped. Anything over 4 hours' delay in completion attracts a premium but the late completion waiver insurance took care of that.

Ours was a 2 day move. Empty the house in Sheffield on day 1 and deliver and unload all the stuff to the new house in Manny Wood on day 2.

The guys - a gang of three - emptied our house (packing and dismantling as they went along) within 8 hours.

They unloaded and re-assembled the dismantled furniture in about 3 hours.

They were courteous, respectful, careful and very professional.

I am currently about half way through the unpacking and so far (touch wood) not one missing or damaged item. I have that covered by the insurance anyway.

This - from a removals perspective (and not necessarily from a legal one!) - has been by far the most pleasing move I have ever made - and I have made several. In the past, there had always been niggling issues - minor but, nevertheless, still issues. This time, no such issues have arisen which is why I've rated this move as excellent.

I am sure that there will be people who have had quite the opposite experience to my own. That is not the point. I have nothing but good words to say about the service Pickfords offer. In this particular move's case, it was flawless - hence the excellent rating given this time.

Mark ex Sheffield; latterly Mansfield Woodhouse.

Official company response

Thank you so much Mark for your excellent five star review and we're delighted to learn that Pickfords are your chosen removal company and this particular move was by far the best move you’ve experienced.

It’s great to hear Trish went above and beyond to accommodate your short notice moving requirements and your moving team were courteous, respectful, careful and professional ensuring your move was stress-free and a smooth process.

I would always recommend the packing and dismantling service when you are moving home as you have so many other tasks to take care of it is one less thing for you to do. The optional waivers are also very good to have as certain parts of the move don’t always go to plan.

Please be assured your praise will be shared with everyone involved for providing you with a flawless service and I have personally thanked Trish for her help and assistance, she was delighted to receive your kind feedback.

Thanks again for your return custom and for sharing such a positive experience with us, we are truly grateful.

Good luck in your new home and wishing you every happiness for the future.

Long-distance move from Sheffield, South Yorkshire to Bradford, Yorkshire

Removal from Killamarsh to Bingley.

The initial contact with Pickfords' representative was professional with the competency expected. A full review of the items to be packed and moved was made and information on the details and terms and conditioned fully explained.
A detailed quote was then supplied and comparable in price to others I had received but the service offered was greater.
Cartons, packing protection and tape were provided timely for items I had decided to self pack, The person delivering the cartons gave advice on best packing practises.
The removal took place on the 18th May from a detached house, the van and 3 men arrived on time and very quickly set up their ramps for easy access to the van. They worked quickly and carefully and appreciated the tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The dismantling of beds and wall units and loading of all cartons and loose furniture was completed in in less than two hours and the house checked to ensure everything had been removed.
The 60 miles road journey was completed without incident and once again they positioned the van and ramps to give best access to the new premises, a first floor apartment. The unloading re-assembly and positioning took slightly longer probably due to the distance from the van to the apartment and the additional stairs. On completion the van was confirmed empty apart from the bags being donated to charity, a very good service offered by Pickfords.
Throughout the move the 3 men were polite and courteous at all times.

Removal to Market Rasen.

Good service right from the start. Removals men were friendly, efficient and worked incredibly hard. We used Pickfords packing service which went very well, couldn't have managed without it. We had some model engineering items which we were worried about due to their weight but all went well. Overall everything was as it should have been, went smoothly and was well organised. Definitely recommend this firm.

I would always recommend the packing service when you are moving home as you have so many other tasks to take care of it is one less thing for you to do.

Thank you again for sharing such a positive experience and please be assured your praise will be passed on to everyone involved.

We hope you are settling well in your new home and wish you every happiness for the future.

My house move.

Totally hassle free from my first point of contact.
Everyone involved was friendly, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
I had the full packing service and placement at the “other” end, the guys were terrific, I can’t sing their praises high enough.
The helpful advice from Trish in the office was most useful.
I would not hesitate to recommend the company.

House removal.

Hi Philippa
I would just like to say that the removal from Pickfords on Monday was made so easy with the help of Lee and Sean.
I was very anxious the morning of the move and thought it was going to be delayed because the lads were held up. I needn’t have worried as they got straight on and had the van packed really quickly. Nothing was a bother for them and they were very polite and professional.
Once at the new house they got straight on emptying the van and were very careful with my stuff. A box split open with ornaments in and Sean was quick to check the contents and get the box fixed and resealed.
I feel very lucky to have got such lovely lads to help me with my move.
I would recommend them to anyone and if I ever need something moving again I won’t hesitate to get Pickfords and ask if I can get Sean and lee. Definitely made my move so much easier
Thank you.
Please pass my comments on to the right department.
Thank you.
From
Doreen.

Delayed and damaged goods.

NEVER,NEVER, NEVER use Pickfords, particularly the Eastleigh branch. The only thing they did promptly was to extract money. It took 2 weeks to move furniture from Eastleigh to Newcastle, using another courier, and trasnsferring to a Hoults delivery vehicle. On arrival some items were wet or damaged. Despite writing several times, no explanation was forthcoming. Still awaiting repair of dining room table and chairs 2.5 months later.

Bad Customer & Removal Service.

International shipping is more like international theft. I arranged a pickup service for a large suitcase size from UK to Malaysia. The guy on the phone (Stephen) promised a full luggage wrapping to prevent and potential theft.

When the luggage reached, the whole luggage is a mess, ANYTHING VALUABLE WITHIN THE LUGGAGE WAS OPENED AND STOLEN! wrapping was only the handle portion of the luggage! Absolutely disappointed with the service, as I had put so much trust in them, turns out to be a BIG let down. Would never ever recommend Pickfords to anyone thinking to move their personal belongings or business trading!

Pickfords Move From Scotland to Devon.

Having not moved house for 35 years we were very apprehensive about the prospect of moving 400 miles. We needed to go with a national company who could handle the distance and the logistics. Knowing the name we contacted Pickfords first (and then did not bother with any other quotes). We were particularly concerned about our large quantity of hobbies related equipment and musical instruments.
During our visit from Paul he immediately assured us that they would travel safely and gave us confidence in the process and had an easy solution to our single track road and narrow drive access. Our manager Nicole always answered my emails promptly and very patiently listened to my questions.
All the removal guys (4 then 2) were great, very polite, hardworking and particularly respectful of all of our"stuff", packing all sorts of things with care. They were at our new house the evening before moving in day and it was great to see them there after our long drive down. They unloaded everything very swiftly and stacked up what seemed like 1000s of boxes in such a way that we could still move around.
We have unpacked everything (except about 7000 CDs..) and nothing was damaged at all.
Our experience of moving with Pickfords has been completely positive and whilst we do not intend moving again for a long time we would not hesitate to recommend them, particularly for a long move.

Damaged everything - Beware!!

Used Pickfords for our removal, moving contents of 2 bed flat 500 yards to another street.

They dropped or damaged every piece of furniture we own. Not one item - every item is either scratched, dented or worse.

They failed to wrap or strap the furniture. They even lost our sofa.

As yet no apology, only a wall of corporate evasion & legal small print.. Which they are actually v good at. Their attitude suggests that this is very normal & standard procedure.

Please save yourselves the aggravation & do not use this failing company.

Highly recommended.

We used Pickfords to ship our personal items from London, UK to Vancouver, Canada by air freight in October 2018. Their cost was the second lowest amongst 10+ quotes we had from other UK shippers and their service was really great. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explained everything in detail and kept us updated. The tracking option was also very useful, it allowed us to see when our boxes were coming. We would definitely recommend Pickfords to anyone and would use them ourselves if we relocate again.

Please read..

Well.. by the looks of all the other reviews I'm not the only customer giving this dreadful removal company a 1 star review.. if I could give less stars I would!! Office move in London whereby both offices are very close to each other, Pickfords turned up 5 man strong, and it took them 4 HOURS to pack up 35 screens and place 40 crates into their vans, most of them stood outside smoking for the majority of those hours whilst 1 poor man was doing all the work. When I came into the what I thought was going to be empty office the next day was not empty, they forgot to take screens and printers! As we needed to be out of this office I needed them to come back asap to remove the equipment, they proceeded to try and charge me for THEIR MISTAKE, luckily they didn't in the end. When unpacking our bits, we realised that they had damaged our screens, I emailed multiple times to which I got ignored, and when I finally got a reply they basically blamed it on us. They were the laziest/rudest removal company I have ever come across, please DO NOT USE THEM.

International move from London, Greater London to , NSW

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Disgusting service.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CHOOSING PICKFORDS! I URGE YOU NOT TO USE THEM. AWFUL, AWFUL COMPANY.

Read on for more detail.

So, Company relocation from UK to Oz - choose a relocating company, move to Oz, goods arrive at your new home. ..this is how it’s SUPPOSED to go.

Unfortunately this woeful tale depicts how truly bad this company is..

I write to you under circumstances that are currently making my life hell here. I’m as good as throwing my money down the drain as I pay for a new uninhabitable home and my temporary living accommodation out of not choice. Pickfords being the ones responsible.

From the start, Pickfords were, by far, the most expensive quote I received for relocating my London home belongings. The salesman spun his magic words on me, stating all their endless years of expertise, ‘best in the business’ and their great partners all over the world. Thinking I would pay the premium for peace of mind, I parted with my thousands.. This is where it all collapsed.

They packed the goods, easily done in a day, not too much to ask.

From this point on you are assigned a Move Manager. As per pickfords website, ‘The highest priority of your move manager is your peace of mind, so they will answer any questions or concerns you have before during and after your move’. How incredibly deceitful this was. My ‘Move Manager’ did quite the opposite. Never rang me to update, never emailed me back unless 3 other follow-up demanding emails were sent, evidently doesn’t know anything about custom clearances (I did all the research and told them what to do).. they couldn’t even correctly track the ship my goods were on!

I was told, through the limited conversations had with Pickfords, to have a home ready for the 27th of the month otherwise I’d have to start paying storage fees for my good in Sydney port. So, I found a home, paid the deposit, ready with the keys on the 26th. By this point, I am now fobbed off onto their quality partners, Allied Pickfords. (Allied Pickfords thuggish employees can be found on FaceBook, in branded company attire, beating up people in the middle of a busy road.. that’s Pickfords ‘quality partners’) Just look up reviews of Allied Pickfords too, they speak for themselves.

The moving day, the 27th, arrives. Despite emailing my move manager multiple times, I’ve still heard nothing at this point, so I call Allied Pickfords in Oz to find out what is happening. They then tell me the ship hasn’t even docked yet..?!?! I have to wait another 3 weeks before it arrives. Just imagine that!? How can Pickfords get it so incredibly wrong AND not even communicate anything with me. So I’m now in the situation where I’m paying for a house I can’t live in and having to also pay for a hotel. I can tell you now, I do not have a money tree and this is going to make me broke.

I frantically rang Pickfords (multiple times to get an answer of course) for some answers directly from the Manager. I was told the manager will ring me back in 15mins - nothing after 30mins. I ring them, “the managers just about to call you”.. 3 days later, still nothing.

Pickfords don’t realise what a big deal moving your life to the other side of the world is - they don’t care either. I’ve had no help, no communication and I still don’t know what’s going to happen. Im losing money daily, I’m stressed beyond belief as a result, I’ve had to take time off work - I wouldn’t wish this company upon anyone. Do not do it to yourself.

Happy to share more details if you need them. I have evidence for it all.

Took care of everything.

Moved from a 3 bedroom house including a full loft and garage into a 4 bed. Video-based survey after which Pickfords packed it up and moved it for me. Big truck in a fairly small street, which they managed to park between two trees so everyone could still get through.
The team was able to work unsupervised and made good use of the time I was there to ask the necessary questions. A server rack was much heavier than expected, so it couldn't be lifted on. I was notified at the time, and within the hour an additional run with a tail-lift vehicle was added for the next day.
They introduced themselves to the new neighbours and asked permission before blocking them in for a while.
Professional and very efficient.
