Perennial Van Lines

I made a lot of mistakes trying to manage my first cross-country move. The first was listening to the slick salesman Larry King at Perennial Van Lines who happened to be the first moving company I was looking for quotes from. He's very congenial and friendly, sympathetic, "Oh please call me if you have questions or need anything" - until you've made your down payment, and then you're basically ghosted and pawned off on what I am assuming is the long-suffering lady in an office somewhere who then has to deal with upset people who stupidly didn't read reviews before making the aforementioned down payment.

After going through a detailed inventory of my 2 bedroom apartment, I was quoted at around $5700. By the end of the move, my small apartment mysteriously weight 3,000 pounds more than their estimate and I'm responsible for the overages. In all, I got slapped with a nearly $9,000 bill for this and a deep hatred of moving companies.

All of this was on top of the contracted company, Secure Protected Moving our of St. Louis I think, forcing us to move our dates of this monumental change in my life around because they 'wanted to squeeze another job in.' They wanted to come get our stuff the day before we were to move in to our new place 1500 miles away which would have forced us to wait two more days (we were driving across the country with two cars and two cats) to move in. Well I wasn't having that and made them come sooner than they wanted. I mean, your scheduling other jobs is not my bloody problem and my contract says you come on the set date.

THEN, while we were visiting the one thing we wanted to see on this longass drive, I get a call telling me they're going to want more money because of the weight of our stuff, AND that they're arriving earlier than they said they would, which forced us to abandon our plans so we could drive fast to meet them - AND THEN they ended up being late. AND THEN, several pieces of art and furniture had damage. They also did not put furniture they had dismantled back together, nor did they actually put labeled boxes in the correct rooms. They just dumped everything in the living room and dining room.

I mean this was a cockup from start to finish - some of which was my own doing - but I would definitely NOT recommend Perennial or Secure Protected Movers. Read your reviews first, get several estimates (annoying as they will not stop bothering you after you do this), and pick a company that's a well-known name. Or better yet, U-Haul it and just hire some locals to load/unload. Moving companies are just scams.

Needless to say, it wasn't something we were looking forward to. But when it happened my husband has been singing their praises to all his friends since our move of this company named Perennial Van Lines. In the past , we always ended up with some damage to our furniture or some breakage to our kitchen items. But not this time. There is not even a scratch on our furniture and no breakage what so ever. They ensured that all the furniture was wrapped up in moving blankets and plastic wrap.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2900

I have never ever experienced such good service, such polite people and I would never hesitate to use them again. They are a professional, hardworking, non-complaining, very likable team of people. They packed and moved over 100 boxes from a third floor flat within a day with no damage or breakages. Everything was beautifully wrapped, including very fragile ceramics. They were extraordinarily generous with packing materials. They dismantled and reassembled furniture, and arranged a successful same-day end of tenancy clean.

If you're looking for movers you can totally trust, look no further than Perennial Van Lines. Carl and Nick arrived on time as promised, did a walk through to scope our move in detail. Once that was completed, this very respectful team that flew into action. They were very concerned with doing everything exactly as we asked, they strive to take great care of our belongings, and this really reduced the stressful of moving. My girlfriend and I agree we would give Perennial Van Lines our highest recommendation.

I've moved quite a bit and Perennial Van Lines was one of the best experiences I've had. Scheduling was easy and they called the day before to confirm everything. Paul and Steve arrived a little early and got to work right away. They were both friendly, professional, and hardworking. They took great care of all our belongings. They completed the move a little early and managed to come in under budget. I will always use Perennial Van Lines and recommend them to everyone.
