Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Do Not Use This Company.

I am completely and utterly dissatisfied with every aspect of service provided by this company with my move from Florida to North Carolina.  They advised that all movers are employed and screened directly by your company.  The movers that picked up my items in Florida were actually subcontractors that arrived in an unmarked Ryder truck.  Upon requesting identification, the driver refused and proceeded to become hostile and belligerent.  The situation escalated to no resolve at which point I called a local Sheriff.

The second issue arose when the pick-up driver advised I can pay with a personal check or credit card.  Since I chose to pay with a personal check, the supervisor said they would not be able to deliver my furniture until it cleared.  Although I called the bank who verified the check cleared, the supervisor was not satisfied and the whole situation was a mess.  The delivery driver called numerous times saying he will not deliver my furniture, even when the supervisor and I had resolved the issue.  Basically, this company lacked efficient communication that resulted in unnecessary conflict and stress.

The third issue is with the damaged items upon delivery.  The delivery drivers were also subcontractors and even had the audacity to ask what company I was using.  I anticipate having similar difficulties with your company trying to resolve the issue with damages due to the fact that the pick-up driver insisted I sign blank paperwork prior to him moving my items.  This resulted in inaccurate representations of damages to my furniture.  My furniture is brand new and does not have any of the indicated damages.

Overall, the lack of professionalism exhibited by this company during my move is repulsive.  Also, this company’s rates for moving are not any less expensive than others, especially considering their lack of professional service.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Ocean Moving and Storage.

My moving experience with Ocean Moving and Storage has been an absolute nightmare.

My move went from Winter Park, FL to Manhattan, NY. Victor Gaslow contacted me about a month prior to my move after I'd submitted an online request for a moving company. Victor spoke confidently of his company. He gave me an over the phone quote for my move of $1200 based on the amount of furniture that I owned and an estimate of how many boxes I'd have. I would be paying half at pickup and half at delivery. Despite my better judgment I quickly jumped at the offer because it was less than half of what another company quoted. I told Victor that I wasn't sure of exactly how many boxes I'd be moving. He informed me that I could call him at any time to report more or less items and he'd adjust the quote for me.

About a week prior to the move I called Victor to inform him that I would have a few more boxes than we had originally estimated. He informed me that I "shouldn't worry about it unless we're moving something huge like a hot tub or a grand piano". I was reassured that it wouldn't need to be logged down. At this point I was fully aware that my price was most likely going to be higher than the quote.

On June 23rd the movers showed up. There were three of them total. Joe seemed to be in charge of the paperwork and pricing. Joe informed me that the price was going to be higher than the quote. I told him that I suspected it would be. He was unable to give me even a ballpark estimate when asked. Once about half of my belongings were on the truck he finally broke the news that I would be paying around $2500 for the move! I was shocked. Not only was half of my stuff already on their truck, but also the feeling of being shanghaied was beginning to sink in.

I was trapped. Half my stuff was on the truck and because of how soon it was to my move out date I had no choice but to agree to the pricing - and they knew it. After everything was said and done my move came out to around $2600! Another thing I was never informed about was the fact that they were also charging for the packing supplies like the tape that they were applying to all of my boxes very liberally. Of course, the contract stated that I agreed to knowing about the cost of packing supplies, but reading it on the actual contract itself was the first time I had been informed about it.

After everything was on the truck Joe pulled me aside and actually asked me for a tip. Repeatedly. Despite the fact that doing that was highly unprofessional and would ordinarily result in no tip, I tipped them. They had all of my stuff and I felt pressured to do so. Joe informed me that I would "most likely" have my stuff in NYC by Monday or Tuesday (the 29th) at the absolute latest.

I got to NYC on Monday with nothing but my dog and a suitcase. The entire move took two weeks, rather than the 5 business days they originally told me.

On top of all of that the deliverymen (who were different from the ones who picked up my stuff) were absolutely the rudest servicemen I've ever dealt with in my entire life. They were constantly swearing at me about how heavy my belongings were. One of them even made fun of me over some of the things I owned. They also made fun of the size of the apartment I was living in. The best thing I can say about them is that they at least never asked for a tip, unlike the pickup guys.

Relocating was made many times more difficult and expensive than it should have been thanks to Ocean Moving. I spent two weeks sleeping on a floor without any possessions outside of what I packed in my suitcase and the entire experience cost me more than twice my estimate. I understand the way they charged based on how much space you take up on the truck, but they could easily be more accurate about their estimates. Joe, one of my pickup movers, even stated, "no one ever pays what they think they should for this". My thoughts exactly, Joe.

Never Use This Company.

I used this company to move because they appeared to offer a better rate. I inquired to find out the total charges of the move and at no time was I told the rate quote I received would change or include any additional charges other than packing materials. This is true for the time when the movers came to my house to begin packing. I was informed of the quote but when it came time for them to unload they demanded twice the amount I was quoted! I felt like the additional charges at the end of the move were not representative of the original quote and I find it awfully suspicious that they would only take cash or a money order.

In addition, it seemed fishy that the company would use a rental truck and have a worker that did not have on a company issued uniform. They just threw my stuff around and some items were damaged.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

Long-distance move from New York to California

Experince was a nightmare.

From the moment they picked up our delivery early in ny . things started getting shady. My husband told Victor the larger truck would not fit into our apartment complex and to use a smaller truck. NO Problem was what my husband was told. A driver said he picked up our stuff in New Jersey and he was not able to deliver our stuff and unload it, because the truck was to big. Therefore he left the stuff on the sidewalk and my husband used our car to load our boxes and we had to unload all our belongings ourselves. We had to carry hevey boxes up to the second floor. My husband hurt his back and I was exhausted . I was shocked to have to do what the moving company is there to do. It was unimaginabble, to think this could be happening. But what could we do. The driver blamed it on Victor and wouldn't carry the items for us. He helped with the couch, because we had to use a dolly, Who the hell is responsible for the complete and unacceptable move? And yes the price quote went up. 245.00 dollars more.

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Great Price! Great Job! Thanks Victor!

I recently hired Ocean Moving for my long distance move to Texas. After recieving about 10 calls I felt comfortable with my agent, their reviews were very good and best of all the price was in my budget. I paid for a full 26ft truck exclusive use for my 3 bedroom house. I was given a fixed rate that DID NOT change, quick delivery with only dresser scratched and over all I would segguest this company to any family trying to look for a reputabe mover in these tough times. My sales agent was Victor Gaskins and he was amazing! Again THANK YOU VICTOR -Mike & Barbara Sterling.

Long-distance move from Florida to California

Avoid at all cost.

This was a horrible experience. This people lied to me from the beginning. They gave me an stimate then raised it twice. My stuff was late so I was stuck home without anything for a couple of days. The guy finally showed up alone so I had to help him unload myself. They where missing two boxes and one was never even inventoried. I had electronics in that box which I'll never recover. The other box they told me they would drop off in a couple of weeks. A month passed I called and they told me it would take two more weeks. After that I called again they told me they couldn't help me because I never made a report. I was never asked to and they new I was waiting on my stuff. The people here are very rude, only the salesman is nice.

Unprofessional service and damage.

The movers were discourteous and unprofessional. The would not deliver until additional payment was made on the spot for extra stairs to climb. The contract never stated any such thing. They damaged furniture, not one but many pieces. They des the walls of the building when carrying furniture up the stairs. I would advise all not to ever use this company.

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Would not recommend.

I was expecting our move to be performed with Unlimited Moving. I spoke with Gilbert starting a month before my move date, he gave me a quote from his company, we made out our cashier's check to the company, but then on the day of the move, a truck showed up with the name Ocean's Moving, which Gilbert never made any mention of, that it would be another moving company providing the services. I asked one of the moving guys if they were part of Unlimited Moving and he informed me that they were partners with them. This was the first time I had any notice that my move was not going to be done with UM. One of the reasons Gilbert convinced me to go with Unlimited Moving was that they were not like like a broker who used outside companies. I received an e-mail from UM that they would price match a lower quote from another reputable company as long as they weren't a broker. Gilbert would not match lower quotes I had received from other companies becuase they were "brokers", but I feel like in the end, UM acted like a broker in my situation. I originally posted this review about Unlimted Moving, and about 10 minutes later received a call from Tony with UM, explaining that UM was not the company that did our move and asked that I correct that on my review. So technically everything was set up by Unlimited Moving, but Ocean's Moving was the company that performed our move.We were not satisfied with our service. When I spoke with Gilbert with Unlimited Moving, he originally told me that we could expect our shipment within 3-5 days, so when we packed a suitcase, we only packed for 5 days to allow for our items to arrive. Our shipment didn`t arrive until after 11 days. When I spoke with the driver, he first told me I could expect our shipment to arrive between Tuesday and Thursday, June 18-20, 2013. He later called and told me Thursday or Friday, then when I called again to check the status, he told me Saturday, June 22nd, which is when everything finally arrived. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We were originally quoted around 1700 but ended up having to pay almost $3300, mostly because our furniture items were bulky and "oversized", taking up more space in the truck and costing more for fuel. When the movers arrived to load our belongings, we were given a price list of packing materials, including tape, which they used generously when preparing our furniture. Even though we lived on the second floor, we were charged extra for the flight of stairs because it was more than 7 steps. Also, when the packers were loading our items during pickup, they did not take extra care of the boxes, even those marked "fragile". When our items were delivered, most of the boxes were falling apart, upside down, crushed, and some had items falling out of them. I was surprised that more items were not broken. The wood stain on our new bedroom furniture was scraped off in multiple places, and several other items were broken. I am in the process of submitting a claim to hopefully be reimbursed for our broken items, and so far have found the claim process to be very complicated and time consuming. After speaking with Tony after I posted my original review, he informed me that I shouldn't go through the claim process that was listed in my quote, that I now have to contact Ocean's Moving and find out how they process their claims and that I may not even be in their system becuase they are not the ones that originated my order. Sounds like another headache. Tony did offer to send us a check for $200 as a courtesy for the inconvenience which was appreciated. That was about 3 months ago, and we still have not received a check.

Don't even think about using this company!

We had so many problems with this moving company that I'm just going to highlight the biggest ones here.   1) They gave us a very low quote that wasn't even close to what the actual charge was. Since we had never used a moving company before we believed the low quote only to find out on moving day that the actual cost was 100% MORE than we were quoted. Of course we find this out after all our things are moved onto the truck (which took 12 hours with inexperienced movers who were disrespectful, unprofessional and left their trash in our apartment) and could not make other arrangements. Bottom line is that the rep you talk to on the phone will say anything to make a sale.   2) The movers who brought our things into the new house were more professional with one exception - they left all our boxes out on the lawn. One minute they were there and the next they took off without asking if there was anything left to be done. For some reason you need to tell these movers to actually move your stuff.   3) Customer service simply amounts to them talking down to you on the phone, promising to call back but never doing so, and doing nothing to fix all the problems they caused. 4) Several pieces of furniture and other items were broken in the move, and I had to file a claim to be reimbursed with another company (that pays $0.60/lb of your broken items).   Bottom line, expect to pay considerably more than you were told and be met with snarky rude and unprofessionalism every step of the way. Find another moving company or just move everything yourself.  .

Long-distance move from Vermont to Florida

Movers.

Not a good experience! When they came to pick up our stuff, they went down the wrong driveway and drove back into the road. They told me that they would need to carry the stuff to the road to load on the truck because they wouldn't be able to make it out of the driveway. It was slightly slippery however, I instructed them to drive back down the road and drive past our driveway and back down the driveway. They hesitated, however, they did what I asked and they were able to get out fine. When our items arrived in Florida, same senario, they wanted to carry out items from the road. My husband directed them how to get in and out and they had no problems. When I called the company with a question, the employee didn't say hello or how can I help you, the person was quite rude on the phone. Most of our boxes arrived wet, crushed and damaged and our clothing was wet. Many of our items were broken and they will not be able to be replaced. I only moved half of my things and will not use this company again to move the other half. Bad service!  .

Long-distance move from Rhode Island to Massachusetts

Late, overcharged, and unprofessional!

Movers showed up 2 hours past their quoted 2-hour window and took their time. 3 men on the site, two of which took 15 min breaks for every 10 or so mins of work. Blatantly trying to add an hour or two of extra labor cost.  Extremely disappointing for what is charged. At drop off, the unload somehow took half the time because I realized that I as one girl would never get these 3 to work, but having my older brother and a few other folks there along urging them to work constantly somehow did the trick to basically push them to work. The furniture that was to be assembled was done incorrectly, and they ran out faster than I could even realize it. Can`t say a single good thing, avoid these guys at all costs. Whatever the quote it is not worth it!

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Cost = 2x Estimate.

I am writing this review from the perspective of someone who has never hired professional movers before.

I originally contacted Colonial Van Lines, and I guess Ocean Movers is subcontracted through them. The movers showed up right when they said they would (9 am on August 22nd). The lead mover explained all the paperwork for me. What was surprising was that he said they didn't move food (I didn't have any) or liquids. Liquids ended up including my make-up, shampoo bottles, perfume, and cleaning supplies. I was not thrilled with this since I had already planned on taking a lot of stuff with me in my car. Thus, things were definitely more cramped. The entire apartment was packed and loaded in three hours, but I wasn't happy that the lead mover said to keep my front door open to be able to get more boxes. It was late August in Florida, and my AC was going right outside. The other movers were also very sweaty and appeared uncomfortable. The lead mover was also rather curt at times, which I did not like. Everything appeared to be packed well, but that later turned out not to be true. When everything was loaded I was informed that my new shipping estimate, which was originally $3k, was no3 $4,400. I was NOT happy. I also felt pressured by the lead mover to tip everyone, even though I did not feel that all of them deserved it. Before leaving I was also told that I would be charged if I kept the movers waiting when they delivered my furniture.
When I arrived in Texas I was informed that my furniture would not arrive until September 1st or 2nd. I knew it could take up to two weeks to deliver everything, but I only had someone staying with me until September 29th, and I could not take time off my new job to receive my furniture. I had also previously informed the moving company about this. I lucked out, and my things were delivered on the 27th. That was the only lucky thing. The movers required a post office money order for the balance of what I owed; not a money order from anywhere else. I am not sure why it had to be a PO money order, but it did seem sketchy. The movers also called me a few days prior to deliverying my furniture that my total would be $4,100. I was shocked. I was originally informed that the movers would weigh the truck before and after my furniture was loaded, and that would be the cost of moving ($0.60/lbs). When the movers left they did not leave in the same direction which they came, so I don't know if they went straight to a scale or not. I also don't know if they filled the truck's gas tank before or after weighing my furniture. I feel that the movers used the high estimate to be able to charge me more.  I was also informed by the person staying with me to recieve my furniture, that the movers were very rude to her and that they had broken one of my chairs. I later learned that they had also scratched my coffee table. I was suprised since it appeared that everything had been well wrapped in blankets. This inducates to me that there must have been a lot of force put on my wood furniture in order to scratch it through such a thick blanket. I have yet to check my other wood furniture for scratches.
Overall, I would NEVER recommend these movers to anyone. I am just happy the whole expience is over.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to Massachusetts

Unprofessional and Overcharges!

DO NOT USE THEM.   I got stuck with Ocean through a broker. That was my first mistake, I didn't realize I was using a broker. My original Estimate for what was essentially a 1bd apartment move from MN to MA was around $1281.    They told me they were going to show up on 11/6-11/7, they'd give me 24 hr notice. Yeah, no. They called me while I was at work and expected to meet me at my house on 11/5 within a few hours. Luckily, I was already packed. We were able to sort it so they'd come after work, they didn't show up until 8:30 in the evening in Budget rental truck no less!   Their foreman, Dov was a total [EDIT], kept talking down to me, like I was an idiot the entire time.  I watched as my estimate was revised and rose $700. He charged me an extra $75 for stairs (even though my contract said the first flight was free) and another $50 for "long Carry" from my house to the street because they had to park in front of the house next door.  They also charged me for packing materials in advance DO NOT LET THEM DO THAT! I asked if we shouldn't wait until after they had finished boxing my items but Dov told me he knew what he was doing and that I should stop questioning him. Turns out that I got charged an extra $50 for boxes they never used!  They didn't finish until almost midnight, and they left garbage everywhere in my apartment! He also pressured me into using their $.60/lb insurance claiming my stuff wasn't valuable enough to warrant real insurance. I didn't want to fight him on that for fear that my things would be stolen.   They refused to give me an estimate for post-services while they were picking up my stuff which really worked in my favor, my new place is on the 4th floor and at $75/flight it was going to be easily $600 extra. I wasn't going to have that. I kept in contact with the person who was in charge of my job, and asked him if I had to use their post services. I was able to negotiate down to $150, just threaten to hire a local moving crew to carry yourself up and you'll get a better rate.    Dov and his guys showed up two days after they initially said they were going to, and when they did, one of their guys was on drugs. The other one was really nice and friendly which was great.    However when I unwrapped my furniture, I found multiple pieces scratched/damaged. My coffee table legs were smashed in and my mirror was shattered (despite the fact that I wrapped it in multiple layers of bubble wrap, news paper, and wool blankets myself), it looks like they shoved my items without any care for whether or not they got damaged, later on I found a piece of my artwork in the street with footprints all over it. When I asked Dov about my coffee table he shrugged and said that they couldn't take it apart and that happens during moving, you're professionals, you are supposed to know how to do this without breaking my stuff! He told me to just submit for a claim. .

Long-distance move from Florida to Iowa

Thank you!!

This was a last minute move. I spoke with Laura, she guided me thru all the things that could make this easier on myself. She explained the costs of the move, the packing and the time frame. Guys came in one day packed my whole apt and seven days later I had my delivery in my new apt in Iowa. After seeing reviews from other
moving companies I was afraid my things would get damaged but when I received the delivery and all things were nicely packed and wrapped in blankets I felt the biggest relief ever I also liked the fact that this company only requires 105015 book and then half at pick up and the second half at delivery. This gave me trust that my things would be delivered and well taken care of. I want to thank Laura for helping me in this last minute move and for giving me the tranquility to know my things were safe and taken care of. I would recommend this company with my eyes closed. Thank you Ocean!! Thank you Laura!!

Long-distance move from Florida to California

Worst Experience Ever.

I have moved 15 times through my job/profession. I have had numerous companies move me from United, Alied, Mayflower, etc. The last move was subcontracted to Ocean Moving and Storage.
The ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!! This company is a complete joke from start to finish!! They did not even come out and write up an estimate, had me sent them the other companies estimates and wrote up an estimate to beat them both to get the job. Well then they raised the total price from $11,100 for everything to $1800 more and said I had more stuff than estimated?? yeah right.

Well it got worse. The packers show up with their fearless leader, some little fat Isreali guy that smelt so bad I wanted to puke. This guy spent the day asking me about where I got all my money and how I could get him a job?? Then he told me at the end that he would appreciate a nice tip for the guys. How about shower daily, brush your teeth once in a while, and stay out of peoples business?

Thought it couldn't get worse. Well it did. I had nothing but problems trying to arrange for delivery of merchandise and they told me they would tell me when they got there and could not plan for any specific day. Never heard such BS. Everyone at that place is rude and never return calls. Well again more problems as they showed up 2 days later than they said they would and it was just the driver. That's right not anyone else except the driver. Once guy to unload a 30 foot truck of furniture. Well I had to help him unload the whole truck or I would not have got my stuff. Tons of stuff missing, entertainment center, leather furniture, tables, boxes, unbelievable!! broken stuff galore and the boxes had everything dumped in with no rhyme or reason. the Driver told me to call and get claim forms and send it all in. I called 9 times and talked to someone or left a message and no claim form. Quite sure no one there is going to send so I will take legal action as these clowns are not going to get away with this. I finally spoke to some guy with a heavy Spanish accent and he yelled non stop and told me I was difficult and finally said and I quote "go F##@ your Mom" and hung up on me. Real classy organization. Well today I went on line and looked at their BBB rating and complaints there and on their site and holy cow. Obviously they have been ripping people off for a long, long time. hey Mr. Carmel, how about resolving these complaints?? You need to fire every one of those rude and worthless piece of garbage employees and start over. Stop ripping people off and claiming to provide a service and then stealing items, breaking items, and treating people like garbage. Maybe they do business that way in Cuba, but not here. Here is a tip for you, you are a professional moving company so how about loading up your stuff and sailing back to Cuba with everyone that works there. You are all a disgrace to professional movers in the US and decent people everywhere!!

Very poor mover.

The movers added over $500 to the fee.  Interesting that they damaged the mattress, punched a hole in the drawer for the bed and ruined the tables.  Then they made us unwrap everything.  We called the office they are useless, they never answered our questions and gave us the run around. They would say we will call you back but never did.   We unfortunately hired United who is a broker and specifically didn't want Oceans because of their poor reviews. Don't use United who is a broker they are just as bad.  They delivered some else's desk to us and had we not notice the person would have been without.  The best way to say you don't have complaints or problems is to never deal with them or call your customer back. .

Ocean Moving and Storage - WARNING, WARNING !!

Worst moving company ever !! Cannot be trusted and is highly miseleading. I shopped a move from CT to St Louis and tried their online estimator first. Price was ridiculously wrong so then I offered them three other inventory estimates for my stuff and they were 30% below, ok good. They referred me to movinginsurance.com as they do not provide any insurance above bare minimum. I bought the insurance. (Price is factored into 30% savings above)

At this point I'm felling pretty good..that changes.

Packing crew shows up 6 hours late, works 3 hours then just leaves and heads to a local hotel for the night. They show up next AM at 10am and restart packing. Packed very poorly and took 14 more hours to finish even though they took a break every hour. I am alerted by the supervisor that my load was going over the estimate. Imagine my surprise given I gave them to other estimates from people that actually came to my house and walked it. "Sorry buddy, space is what it is and we get paid by the cubic ft". I question that perhaps boxes were not well packed and thing just thrown in boxes and too many boxes, etc.."keep it up and we'll just unpack the truck". So I agree and boom..I have to sign a new estimate on the spot and write a check for $1750. So much for savings..Truck pulls out at 2am !!

Could not get a delivery date from driver who then showed up 2 days late in St Louis. Another local crew there to unload and these guys were very hard working and good to work with. Unpacked the truck, found 21 items missing, 6 different instances of damage. Followed the movinginsurnace.com instructions, took photos and reviewed with driver, kept list of missing items and filed initial claim within requested 48 hrs. Actually did it within 14 hours.

Got a response from movinginsurance.com with a lengthy stack of forms to be filed out, had to evidence dates and values of purchase of damaged or missing items, solicit repairs estimates from all furniture and appliance manufacturers myself too their estimate by weight for missing items. Filed all paperwork with them a week in advance of deadline. Could not get them to confirm receipt, after 6 emails and subsequent phone calls. Two weeks later I receive a letter from them rejecting all claims. Reason was that they could not verify damage as driver had not signed off on individual moving sheets. I sent them confirmation of driver acknowledging damage and they still rejected it as no signiature on moving sheet at the time of delivery. I have engaged legal consul and am filing complaint with State of Florida board of insurance carriers. This insurance thing is a total scam. DO NOT USE IT.

Long-distance move from Georgia to Ohio

No Not Use This Company!

You would be better off just hiring four random guys off the street to move your stuff rather than trusting these losers.
I scheduled my move through BEST Interstate Moving and Storage because they had fantastic reviews. However BEST is only a moving broker and will subcontract your move to someone else. After doing a detailed estimate with BEST I scheduled the move and paid them the deposit. When I got a call from Ocean moving I thought it was another moving company trying to get my business, BEST never told me they would not be doing the move.
After changing the date on me just one day before the move they showed up 4 hours late. I could tell right from the start that I was in trouble. They were in a terrible rush and barely spoke English. When I tried to tell them to be careful with certain boxes they acted like I was speaking in tongues. After their marathon loading session the drive showed me the new estimate, which happened to be $2700+ more then my estimate. This was after I had removed close to two bedrooms worth of stuff from the move that I would be taking with me in a trailer. The driver said he was estimating based on the square footage even though I had agreed to pay by pound. He the told me they would be driving the 12 hours from GA to OH that night and would someone be there in the morning when they arrived. I didn't even have a place yet! I was told I got 30 days storage with the move and I had to spend an hour on the phone working out the price and storage with Ocean.
Once they showed up to unload my stuff the real fun began. The inside of the truck looked like the Beverly Hillbillies with smashed boxes and bits of my stuff lying on the floor. The price had also changed back to the higher estimate and they wanted it in cash or no download. This was the very ransom situation I was afraid would happen after reading horror stories about other moving companies, my only salvation was being ready for it. I had a bank check ready to give them but said I would only hand it over when they finished. After another rush job to empty the truck they refused to even remove the tape and other garbage from my house. When I refused to give then the bank check they reviled their true colors, threats of legal action, violence, lots of swearing, they even threatened to call the police. But in the end they left without the extra money and it was the last I heard from them. Had it been a legitimate company with real record keeping they would have sued me for the rest. The fact that this never happened only proves that the price was a scam from the start.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Please listen to this.. STAY AWAY!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They moved my furniture from Florida to New York, half of it was delivered destroyed and the other half was missing. After working with their insurance company and filing all of the correct paperwork, they told me they did not have authorization to move forward and I would have to get back in contact with Oceans Moving + Storage. It has now been 18 months and still no resolution. THEY ARE AWFUL. STAY AWAY.

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Oceans Moving.

Do not use this company. They are horrible. They don’t keep you updated on anything. The guys who packed us were ok, the lead guy was not. He was argumentative and did not want to take any direction. I asked for things to be packed together, like the TV w the cords and remote. Not done. The lead wrote the items down as bed frame, foot board, not master bed frame, etc. made it difficult on the unloading. He didn’t mark a lot of boxes. Sheri in their office would say she would call and then wouldn’t. It was a moving nightmare. She told me our things wouldn’t be delivered until Wed/Thurs/Fri movers called Tuesday morning. Then said they had to rent a smaller truck but needed approval. Didn’t show up until noon. They were suppose to unpack everything; Sheri said they didn’t do that. Showed her the $1,000 paid to unpack, so finally agreed. They started so late they finally finished unloading at 7:30 pm. I was exhausted and had them leave. I now have 1/2 garage full of boxes and packing material.

NEVER NEVER USE THEM.

Long-distance move from Cary, NC to Cumming, GA

Stay Away!

This is by far the worst moving company I have experienced. My parents moved from NC to GA and wanted to take the hassle out of moving. They decided to use Best Interstate Moving and Storage because of their high reviews. Even though they were more expensive than other companies my parents thought it was worth it based on the quality they thought they would get. Even though the company said they were not a broker they are. They hired Ocean Moving and Storage as the moving company without our knowledge (which has horrible reviews). Their team lead Shawn came with a crew and packed up my parents house. He left without giving my parents a chance to check the house. They ended up not packing an entire room. My parents had to make multiple trips to GA with the leftover things and rent a storage unit. Keep in mind they already spent over $7000 to the moving company. Both companies were very difficult to get a hold of when my parents were ready for the delivery. We finally got a hold of them to deliver where Shawn shows up with an attitude and completely inappropriate behavior. We just wanted the job done at that point so we put up with it. The other guy who was helping was asking very private questions about the house- who is living there, how much the house was which made my parents very uncomfortable. Again we just wanted the things delivered so we wouldn’t have to deal with them. Towards the end we saw them participating in illegal substances on my parents property. At that point I said something to them and then they literally ran to the truck and drove off very fast in the residential area. They left the work undone and not sure if the truck was even empty with our stuff. I called Iris the next day who is the manager and she acted sweet and understanding and said she will take care of it and will send a couple of guys to finish the job. A week goes by and no communication from the company or Iris. I called multiple locations and Iris but no communication. I then reached out to Best Interstate since they are the company my parents signed the contact with. Stephanie Little was suppose to get back but never did. Bottom line - stay away from both companies. They were awful to work with, rude, sent some shady people to my parents house and did not finish the job. They took zero responsibility for anything. They charged twice for some items and on top of all this they damaged quite a few items in the process. These guys are bad news, stay away from them save some grief.

Long-distance move from Worcester, MA to Myrtle Beach, SC

Lies, poor customer service and rude.

I recommend AGAINST this company.
A. Bottom line:
They lied to me multiple times through the process and I wouldn't trust anything they say.
B. The lies
"We are carriers and not a brokerage"-Lie
"I would be your contact person through out the process unlike other companies"-big lie. Their pick-up team showed up at my doorstep and started brandishing a different agreement (few hundred dollars more) with my name and details on it. I never signed this agreement and I couldn't reach my contact person in the company. Their customer service person threatened to not return my deposit if I don't cooperate with the new terms.
C. More lies and rude:
Their pick up team was incredibly rude. When I refused to accept the new terms and stood my ground, they dropped all my stuff in the first floor and left (I had to move them back to the second level while I arranged for another moving company).
Initially they promised a certain deadline but that changed when their pick up team showed up. They said that they can't promise a date and it could be 4 weeks or more.
D. Took forever to return deposit
After doing all this they took a very long time to return my 300+ dollar deposit. (I just finished my education and moving for job. I had to hire someone for more money in the last minute while these guys were holding onto my deposit).

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Madison, WI

Do Not Ever Hire Ocean Moving And Storage-worst Experience Ever!!

I am a single parent moving that moved from Atlanta to Madison Wisconsin. This was my first time relocating and moving out of state. I moved from Atlanta with my two teenage sons and my 80 year old father. We hired movers because my dad was too old to try and help me. Plus, we already had a 13-14 hour drive ahead of us to get from Atlanta to Madison. I reached out to Cross Country Movers and they brokered the move out to Ocean Moving and Storage. The original binding estimate including a commission for the person scheduling my move of $1100. I found this out after I received the paper work. My binding estimate was for $3800 to move three queen beds (with box springs and mattress), one twin bunk bed (with mattresses - no box springs), 3 bookcases, 3 book shelves, 1 sectional sofa, two car seats, a dining room table, 3 dining room chairs, 2 lamps, 3 night stands, 1 arm chair, 1 chaise lounge, a piano, and 40 medium moving boxes. My binding estimate calculated that I would need an estimated 910 cubic feet of space. When the movers arrived, I added two suitcases, 5 - 18 gallon totes and 30 more moving boxes to make a total of 60 moving boxes. The driver of the truck estimated that my additional items were a total of an additional 1000 cubic feet. He also told me that he would reassess once the truck was loaded to make sure that I paid for the space that I actually used. Well, during the move, they started out ok by wrapping the furniture. Then, the team lead, TJ, decides to have me sign the paperwork before the move was completed. He stated that he could make sure that things were right before he left. While I was watching them, one of the movers almost dropped my dresser coming out my house because they didn't secure it to the dolly. Then, another of the movers had one arm in a cast. I heard so many bumps that it made me wonder if the things were getting damaged while they were trying to get them downstairs. 6 hours went by and they still weren't done. So, not only do they try to make you sign documents before the work is finished, they don't send enough guys to do the work in a timely fashion. So, don't every pay them by the hour. They will MILK IT!! Needless to say, the movers arrived at 9am and left at 7:30pm. They waited to leave with the loaded truck while I was gone with my children to get some dinner. The team lead called me and stated that they were all finished. He didn't give me the amount of space that I used. He didn't reassess the space that was utilized by the items loaded onto the truck. He just took the signed documents and turned them into his superiors and left me to pay $8500 for a half full 26 foot moving truck. I called the following business day and no one answered the phone at Ocean Moving and Storage. I contacted the originators of my move which was Cross Country movers. They stated that they couldn't discount another carriers prices. They also stated that I signed the paperwork. So, here is the scam for those who think about using a moving company. If they ask you to sign documents before the work is completed, don't do it. They don't actually perform a true inventory of your items. They just over estimate and ask you to sign the paperwork at the beginning of the move. Then, after the move is done, they falsify the moving inventory to make it look like you have more items on the truck then what's actually there. If you want to move cross country then you're better off paying the money to go with a reputable carrier instead of these clowns. I would report them to Dept of Transportation for fraud if I could. I am relocating back to my home state in a few years. And when I do relocate I am NEVER USING THIS COMPANY.

Local move within South Carolina

Winning award for worst possible move.

Contracted with First United for an interstate move on memorial day. Without saying anything to us, they subcontracted it to Ocean Moving and we never heard from them again. Their subcontractor Ocean Moving showed up on moving day, loaded the truck, then told us our 900 square foot apartment was over 120 boxes (I hadn't even bought that many boxes?) and demanded another $1000 and refused to take anything back off the truck or let us count the boxes ourselves to prove them wrong. They proceeded to either destroy or lose thousands of dollars worth of our stuff. They ripped the legs off of our Casper adjustable bed rather than unscrew them, which destroyed it. They ripped a keyboard stand apart rather than take out the screws. They mangled our laundry sorter and then threw it behind the fence on the side of our house. They cracked the mirror on my mirror-front vanity. Not a single one of our table lamps made it to the house. They're just gone. Only three of our four kitchen chairs showed up. Our kitchen table never made it here. This is just a very, very small amount of the things that were destroyed or missing by these people. The best part is the "so called" claims process where you spend two full 8 hour days painstakingly listing your mangled and missing items, their estimated value, serial numbers, model numbers, weight, dimensions, purchase date, etc, just to have their system "error" and you do the whole thing over again. When you finally get it submitted they email you every few weeks with an "its processing.." message and a dead link to "check your claim status." After that.. who knows? It's been since memorial day and we still only have destroyed furniture, dead links, and a "pending claim" to show for this cluster. And don't try to call First United. They will never ever call or email you once they've unleashed their subcontractors on your house and Ocean Moving disappears into the night never to be seen or heard from again.
