Long-distance move from Tacoma, WA to Houston, TX

Super easy coordination.

Aaron Bacon was great in planning out the move of my mom's household goods across the country. I was worried about the pick-up end since I lived 2000 miles away, but Aaron made me feel confident that her goods would be picked up on time and without incident. Our mover, Jose, was very professional and flexible on the delivery end, arriving a day earlier than expected, and seamlessly handling two delivery locations. A worry-free, hassle-free experience overall!!

Long-distance move from Staunton, VA to Lakeland, FL

Terrible Experience.

Let start by saying this this moving company was not as good as other people who recommend it to be. In fact our experience with them started off bad as they came to pick out stuff up on December 25th, 2018 to head to Florida. The guy named Uzi started saying our furniture was bigger than mentioned even though a video inventory with Natasha was done and she marking it to be what it was. Uzi charged us more money for a couple pieces of furniture that were by description were correct but he stated they were bigger. While evaluating our inventory Uzi's demeanor was rude and acted like he didn't want to be there.

Based on conversations with Natahsa, we were given a projection of our stuff arriving sometime in the mid time frame of our last possible delivery date, however after countless calls and speaking with Natasha, Kim and other members of their team, they told us they were checking with the dispatch manager and would call us back but never did. Our stuff arrived three week later after being held in storage. To make matters worse we had paid extra for a small truck for the delivery but this was not communicated to the driver which only delayed the delivery of our stuff. Some of our stuff were damaged during transit.

We paid over $3000 for what they considered a small job. We did not recieve stellar service, in fact we would grade them at a 1 star rating on there job, work ethics and customer service. Avoid this company.

Long-distance move from Mesa, AZ to Valrico, FL

Lied about my weight, tried to charge me extra and one week late!

Always ask for a second weight ticket on delivery before and after unload! I moved twice in 7 months, used National Van Lines both times and my second haul was lighter. They tried to tell me it was 800lbs more than the first load.. I sold a some very heavy items so I knew they were trying to take advantage of me. Sure enough I asked for the weight tickets on delivery and they were charging me for 700 extra pounds! If I wouldn't have asked they would have happily taken my money. Oh and they were 1 week late from my no later than date!

Long-distance move from Chico, CA to Dayton, OH

Cross-country Move.

We recently moved from Northern California across the country to Ohio. On a relative's recommendation, we chose National Van Lines as the company to transport our household belongings. Everyone was extremely cordial and helpful beginning with Aaron, our moving representative. He was extremely helpful in answering the many questions we had regarding our move. Our driver, Damon, was excellent, friendly and very organized. Both the loading crew and the unloading crew were very careful with our belongings, as well as making sure protection was provided for both homes. They did a fantastic job moving a 7 foot grand piano, which was our biggest concern. We would not hesitate to recommend this moving company, and we will definitely use them again.

Local move within New Hampshire

Extremely Unhappy.

I am giving a single star only because zero stars is not an option. I contracted with National Van Lines to move my household goods from California to New Hampshire. 19 days later, my goods are still sitting in some warehouse in California. They have not even left the State. Upon contacting National, I am not being told that my items are going to be delivered even later than anticipated. I would not recommend this moving service at all. I am being offered a 50 dollar compensatory offering for my troubles for each day the shipment is late, but this does little to assuage the fact that I am camping in my new house with no household items. Read all of the fine print in the moving contracts and beware of extremely long delivery windows.

Long-distance move from Missouri to Illinois

Awesome Experience.

I chose National after observing the way they handled my best friend's move. My experience began with Aaron Bacon and everything was great starting with Aaron and extending all of the way through delivery. The teams that loaded me were consummate professionals and I simply enjoyed them as pros and as people. They were very proud of their company and their work. Their pride was manifest in their work. I recommend National in the highest possible terms.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Galena, OH

Terrible moving company that doesn't care about customers.

Although National Van Lines was competitively priced, we would not recommend them based on a number of things that did not meet our expectations.
1. On move out day, they sent a truck that did not come close to fitting our 4 bedroom home, despite the fact that someone from National had previously done a walk through of our home to assess the truck space we would need. Within minutes of the driver arriving, he said there is no way they could fit all our stuff.
2. We had to quickly divide our things into essentials and non-essentials since a large portion of our stuff had to go on a second truck. The second arrived one week after our guaranteed delivery date. Although that truck had “non-essentials”, due to the length of time we were without some of that stuff (e.g., our mower), that did become an inconvenience.
3. The movers severely damaged our stairway on move out day number 2 due to carelessness. The movers clearly hadn’t moved a treadmill before, as they didn’t secure the base of the treadmill properly. This caused the treadmill to fold up while they were moving it, literally getting stuck in our stairway, which damaged the walls and railing in the process.
4. On move in day number 1, the movers nearly left without assembling one of our beds. When we stopped them as they were on their way out, they said they couldn’t find the parts even though they were the ones who disassembled them. After more searching, the pieces to the bed ended up being in the glove box on the truck, so had they left we wouldn’t have been able to assemble the beds ourselves.
5. On move in day number 2, the movers couldn’t find the pieces to assemble another bed. Unlike the first time around, these movers did not try to leave without telling us about the unassembled bed. They finally found the pieces wrapped up with our treadmill.
6. One of the truck drivers was unprofessional and offensive. For starters, he didn’t bring money with him to pay the movers when loading, so I had to drive him to the bank. He also yelled at and made mean comments to the movers several times throughout the day. To make matters worse, he also made homophobic comments, which we found to be very offensive.
7. We never received an arrival time for the truck on move in day number 1. We were even on the phone with National the night before the truck arrived and they said we would receive a call with a specific arrival time. The truck driver called us the morning of the move in, saying he had been at the house for 30 minutes and that they were unloading our things into the driveway and porch. We had to rush over to the house (from our hotel downtown, 30 minutes away), which was not the way we wanted to start our move into our new home.

Great Moving Company.

I received great help from Micheal Hartung and Dan Howard! Both of them and the other staff members were great, very respectful and kind! My girlfriend and I would definitely hire them again. Next time we move again, they will be our first moving company that we contact and want to hire. Thanks again for the great work, take care and see you next time!

Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to Denver, CO

Awesome moving company.

Our move couldn’t have gone any better! Michael Hartung was great in listening to our needs and helping us navigate through the process, keeping us well informed along the way. He was able to get us from Florida to Denver on the days we needed during Christmas break, which was incredible. Our driver Jason Baker was very detailed in making sure everything got here safely. Jason and his crews were so efficient yet meticulous in loading/unloading our belongings..nothing was lost or broken! Everyone was really great to work with.

Long-distance move from Texas to Florida

Best Move Ever, Not Kidding.

We were referred to National Van Lines for our household move from TX to FL by their partner company Firefighting's Finest Moving and Storage in Ft. Worth, TX.

This was my family's fifth interstate move so I guess you could say we have experience with the entire process!  It is a stressful, hectic time; and in our situation we had a lot of unknowns, last minute decisions, a short moving timeline and the December holiday season to work around.

In spite of everything, the overall experience of working with Moving Agent Aaron Bacon was truly outstanding. We communicated by phone, text messaging and email. He was quick to respond to questions and provide information in all communication forms. His price quote worked well with our relocation budget; we were able to pay by credit card; and he arranged partial packing help for us through Firefighting's Finest which was super helpful.

In my opinion, it is evident that Aaron enjoys what he does. He was very calm and reassuring in his interactions with me and checked in with me frequently in the process to see how things were going; which I really appreciated. We joked around a lot also; which helped keep my spirits up!!

Our moving van driver Willie Sloan was fantastic to work with. He was extremely pleasant, professional and meticulous in the way he handled the loading and unloading. We received our belongings in FL so quickly we almost couldn't believe it!! The loading and unloading teams on both ends were excellent.

Thank you, National Van Lines for a wonderful experience! .
