Long-distance move from Marietta, GA to Providence, RI

Garbage company- you have been warned!

BEWARE!! BEWARE! BEWARE!! If there is only one review you ever pay attention to, please let this be the one. I am genuinely trying to help other consumers to not have to experience what I did. I have never in my life experienced anything like this as a customer. DESPICABLE GARBAGE COMPANY. I will start with my furniture pickup. The time for my moving day was not ever confirmed. The experience was overall good but I did have a few things that I wanted to alert the company about afterwards- more of just a heads up. Mainly that the lead on my project shared with me he had just started that day after applying over the weekend- no background check or anything. And I expressed concern on how I saw a few items were handled. I did so via email and had to request a RESPONSE and was treated with defensiveness and was more or less called a liar. I have never been treated this way as a customer in my life. I was completely taken aback; shocked in fact. It all went downhill from there. I was being punished. I was storing my belongings in their warehouse and all of a sudden was told I now owed 60 more per month. I inquired about a copy of my inventory list 3x after my first move and was completely ignored. I became so concerned that everything I owned was in this place- I felt uneasy and that my stuff was unsafe. When I provided a move date for furniture delivery 3 months later, I was never acknowledged and then GHOSTED for OVER a MONTH when I would inquire about a plan. Finally I heard something. I honestly thought I would never see my stuff again and was literally a day away from filing a local police report. When my furniture finally arrived, I had severe damage to all of my bedroom furniture (which was expensive). In fact there wasn’t a piece of furniture in my home that didn’t have some form of damage to it. EVERY single box was either squished, tattered or torn. I had so many broken items, especially dishes and things that couldn’t be replaced. I move often and know how to pack, so that was definitely not the issue. A tv was missing. My bed was missing the hardware so couldn’t be put together. I could go on and on about the damage and every little negative thing that I experienced throughout this move but will stop at this. Moving is stressful enough- this experience was so horrible. I am a very calm person so I can’t imagine how someone who isn’t or deals with anxiety would handle this. Please also know this was an almost 10k move. I am now taking legal action. I don’t care how many other reviews are positive- if this could happen to me, it could happen to you. Please please please spend your money with a national and reputable company with numerous locations so you can deal with more than one person and get response. I requested an owner or general manager contact me several times and I could never get past the dispatcher who again was completely nasty and rude. CAROL J, karma will get you!

When I sent pictures almost immediately of all the damage, they said they weren’t in the allotted time after move which was a bold face lie. WHAT? So no reimbursement whatsoever. I feel like I was robbed right in front of my eyes and sat there and watched it and couldn’t do anything about it.

Lastly, it was a partner company of theirs that actually delivered my furniture. The head of that company told me he would deny it if I repeated it but that he has never seen so much damage and thought I was totally done dirty!

This review is not exaggerated. In fact, it is grossly understated. DO NOT ENGAGE THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY.

Long-distance move from Georgia to California

Lost Item.

One other reveiwer broke down the experience into separate parts, as will I: 1.) Moving from Atlanta GA to Sacramento CA. The packing went professionally. They collected partial payment in cash as was expressed by movers. 2.) Furniture arrived approx 2 weeks later in CA, right after I acquired new home. Any working musicians out there? All items were delivered EXCEPT for my Fender Rumble 75 bass amp!  http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Rumble-75-Bass-Amplifier/product-reviews/B00365YTOY The driver told me he may have dropped it off at the location prior to my delivery in another town! What?!? After several days (weeks) and several phone calls, did I get it back..no! Finally filed a claims with Pro Movers. They made me go through the claim process, I just happended to have photos of items before the move. PLEASE PHOTOGRAPH ALL ITEMS PRIOR TO MOVE! After filling out the extensive claims forms with all required information, Pro Movers told me that the claim policy for lost goods was .60 cents (..I don't even see a cent sign on my laptop anymore!) per pound! Since I had exact specs of my item showing 55 pounds (hence I had the movers take the item instead of myself), they offered me $33 to settle the claim! What?!? Not only did I pay over $200 for that item, as a part-time working musician, it certainly represented a lot more to me than it's price! And they lost (stole) it!  I told them to shove it! This is my posted review! Buyers beware. Please ask/read about replacement policies of damaged or lost items. You get what you pay for!

Long-distance move from South Carolina to Texas

Interstate moving companies.

The reason we chose National Pro Movers was the customer service we received from Alex.  Our contract included a delivery date between the morning of June 1st and the morning of June 5th.  Occupancy was June 1st, and the move was for a residency program , and we were out of town on medical issue from Thursday evening June 5th - Sunday afternoon June 8th.  Since we knew no one in Texas it was imperative the delivery be in the time frame specified on the contract.  Obviously this company does not feel an obligation to the contract they wrote and we signed.  The communication was poor unless we comtacted our salesman, Alex, who responded always but could not always give us an answer.  Then the answer came.  They would arrive Thursday night, which of course was when no one would be there.  Their solution was for us to find a storage unit to put our things in.  Since they did not stick to the contract we asked Alex to find a new solution.  He contacted the management of our new residence and they agreed to release a key to the movers if we would fill out and sign a  specific form, which we did since we had no other options.   Thursday night turned into a promised Friday morning at 9:30, then 3:30pm, then 5:00 pm, then 6:30 pm. We requested they call when they arrived and had it lined up with the guards and the management office to oversee the movers.  At 8:15 pm we called them and heard noise in the background as if they were out to eat or having a good time, and they had decided, without contacting us , to wait until the morning to move us in.  Unfortunately they failed to tell us and the management office is closed Saturday.  When they arrived on Saturday morning they made us pay an additional $150 which they informed us was a great discount, because the guard was not there to open the gate for the moving truck and they had to carry things in. The next hour plus was spent on the phone with them as they were moving other peoples furniture and items into our residence.  To ensure all our items were delivered and set up as requested( of which they lost the schematic drawing we left)it was imperative we remained on the phone.  Our true dissatisfaction was because they failed to keep their  end of the contract, required us to pay additional funds when it was their fault that the guard was not there, and when I contacted Alex after the move to ask for compensation for their errors he said that Jeremy was handling it.  I called Jeremy to resolve my issues before submitting  this review but his mailbox was full and was not taking any messages.  What a nice way to run a business!  I then called Alex back and he assured me he sent Jeremy a message to contact me, but I never heard from Jeremy.  In the end I only paid $50 more than quoted because when they first started with all their excuses and reasons they could not be there on time they did offer us a $100 credit, but took it back just as fast when they further broke all verbal and written contractual agreements.   I would never recommend this company to anyone based on the lack of service we got from management,  the fact that the persons who picked up our things asked for a tip, and their lack of willingness to discuss with a customer the problems that arose.  I will commend Alex at doing his job, and doing it well. I highly recommend he take his resume to a company that can stand behind their product/services.  Our rating was : Poor and completely dissatisfied.

Long-distance move from Georgia to California

Great Service !!

I recently got a job in california and my company needed me to move fairly quickly. From the time I received the job offer until the time I actually had to move was about a week. My wife was very frantic and we began packing and looking for moving companies. Every company we called said they would have to charge an exorbitant extra fee in order to pick up and pack our items. Long story short, we contacted Alex at national promovers. He offered us a free in-home estimate and immediately came out the next day. this was extremely convenient due to the fact that my wife is still nursing our 3 month old baby as well as caring for our 2 year old twins. Alex emailed me our estimate that evening and we were booked to move that next morning. Movers arrived to my home that saturday packed up our items and were gone. Clean, fast, no fuss. About a week and a half or so movers showed up to our home in ontario, ca and unpacked everything! The service was prompt and efficient. GO NATIONAL PROMOVERS!!

Long-distance move from Alabama to Texas

Slimy business practices, 14 complaints on BBB.

I cancelled my scheduled moving plans with National Pro Movers because they 1) demanded cash or cash equivalent before delivery of furniture. (This is not standard in the industry or secure for the customer, Credit cards are safer for customers. 2) Yet they charged my credit card for $199.00 as a non-refundable deposit 3) They would not refund my deposit 4) Would not give me the name of the owner. Only his first name.  This is a slimy online operation.    BEWARE.  .

I had a move from GA to FLA and all the other companies overpriced my move. Alex was very helpful and knowledgable about the moving industr. We priced each room to ensure it was an accurate binding price. They packed our items like it was their own and I appreciated the awesome care they showed my things. I would call them to move me any day, Very thorough!! Thanks National Pro Movers in Doraville, Ga.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Kansas

Really bad experience and service.

This company was contracted for me through a moving agency. It took 27 working days for my things to arrive because some outside party called and said that I was not ready for my things. Instead of contacting me, they just held my stuff. Valuable things were missing upon delivery. I had to contact their insurance carrier just to get a response from them. Fifteen months later, I am still waiting to be paid a minuscule fee for my lost items. Also, I was charged much more money than was initially quoted. Interesting, my pound overage and fees were at the exact limit allowed to be considered legal.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Virginia

Bad communication on delivery and pick up times.

I was told I'd receive a call 24 - 48 hrs. prior to pickup. I called the company within 24 hours, since I did not hear from them, and was told my pickup would happen in 5 hrs.  At pickup, I was not given an estimated delivery date, as "promised" in conversation with booking agent. Delivery in 2 - 12 days doesn't help me plan. The delivery time was changed at least 3 times, within a 48 hr. period, dependent upon the previous delivery.  I had to pay $400 to have my shipment unloaded from a semi to a smaller truck because the 50 ft. semi wasn't allowed on the rental property.  My goods were picked up and loaded onto a Ryder rental truck, that would have been appropriate for the delivery location. I notified the company within 3 days of a box that did not belong to me, as well as a missing box. No effort was made to pick up the box that did not belong to me so I assume no effort was made to locate my missing box. The move cost me $800 more than expected, $400 because I had more items that listed on the initial inventory (my fault) and $400 because I had to pay to transfer my goods to a smaller truck (company's fault).  I would not do business with National Promovers again, even at the lowest price, which it was not.  It was the middle price so I thought I was getting a good value.

Don't use them!

Myself like another customer because of Alex's customer service. I was hoping that the entire experience would go well since he was a pleasure to work with. Don't let that fool you. Once they come for pick-up that's when everything goes downhill. The fee goes up $500 and the customer service is horrible especially from the supervisor, Jeremy. Our fee not only increased during pickup but also during delivery because the drivers arrived early than expected.Long story short, use another company. It's not worth the hassle.
