Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Eugene, OR

Worst company ever.

They have one job, schedule a move and they can't seem to get that simple job correct. For the loading of the truck, they scheduled it to come a day earlier than what was planned and this caused the movers to show up before the truck had even arrived.

On the day of the unloading, the moving company scheduled to come had the team not respond and show so by the time they got another team out here it was 4+ hours later at ~4 at night. I could only take one day off of work, so I started unloading when they didn't show. By the time they arrived, I had finished most of the work and they had about 10 minutes of work. I am now left with a bill of $900 for movers sitting around for the loading and then movers doing 10 minutes of work for the unloading.

I tried calling to see what could be done and they only say that this is my fault and they are not to blame for any of this. Worst company I have ever worked with.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Stolen property and many things broken.

They came with a staff of 5 men. They were hard working and seemingly nice guys.
The day turned into what seemed to be a race to get everything on the truck. The men were all over the house rapping things as fast as they could without a care. This was later realized when things were unpacked to find broken. Then when reported you can receive.60 cents a pound for you stuff, basically nothing.

Then to top it off they drove over destroying a large part of the end of the driveway garden. Then the icing on the cake was the pricey alcohol from the bar was flat out STOLEN!!

Long-distance move from San Juan Capistrano, CA to Montgomery, AL

Uodate.

Ok, I posted an honest and authentic review of a disputed I was in with ABF and Moving Staffers. Although it took much more time and effort than it should, Moving Staffers posted a half price credit back which I really appreciated. So, to be fair, I am posting an uodate to my previous review. However, ABF, to date..”sorry”. I would very much steer clear of ABF, not a responsive nor a company interested in best practices start to finish. Check carefully and use another trucking firm, plenty to choose from. Tony Jordan.

Long-distance move from Saint Augustine, FL to Birmingham, MI

All good reviews are fake. This company is HORRIBLE.

They outsource everything. They simply don't care. They broke/damaged nearly all of our furniture. There were hidden costs, delays, and I think they are creating fake reviews (notice the patterns in the review timeline). I would suggest using another company as Moving Staffers simply did not care, especially afterwards when all of our stuff was damaged. Just use another company. Any other company is better than Moving Staffers.

Long-distance move from Salem, OR to Palm Coast, FL

The worst.

These people do not care for your treasures. If you tell them you have a treasure, they will destroy it with a smile in their face. They are insured at the 1937 insurance rates, which is .60 cents a pound. May as well throw your nice things away if you hire these people. They don’t train the kids they hire. They are horrible and you will be sorry. The check they pay for breakage has a paragraph stating you will never talk badly about moving staffers. They can keep their check and I will tell everyone I know about the experience I had with moving staffers. This is probably the biggest legal scam business out there.

Nightmare move.

It was a nightmare experience. Having to constantly stay on the movers to do normal average type things like stacking heavier boxes on the bottom and being careful with fragile pieces and furniture. A lot of our furniture was damaged by the lack of care. A few pieces may no longer be useable. I chalk it off to in-experience and there was no one with enough experience to oversee the move and insure things were handled properly. I just went to the storage unit where things were stored and found pieces of furnitue broken off, White nice furniture with greasy black handprints on it, boxes of broken glass. Not only that but the storage space was 20% larger than the truck the items were shipped on and they weren't able to get nearly all of it in the space and I ended up carrying 5 pickup truck loads to another facility myself. The main person in charge of the move was capable and understood things pretty well but he could not find a way to really keep tabs on what was going on. I was there much of the time and all I did was re-stack things so they didn't fall over or break. After making it super clear to not put heavy items on top of a ceramic kiln, I turned my back and there was a stack of heavy wooden chairs stacked on top. I afraid to even know if its destroyed the kiln, so I didn't take the chairs off to look. When I asked moving staffer about this, they said I would have to have determined if the piece was damaged at the time of the move and would pay out such a small amount that it was not worth considering. You are pretty much at their mercy for be forewarned.

All in all a pretty horrible experience. If you hire this company, make sure you understand that you are hiring a group of young kids with lugging ability but with little experience in moving and being careful. If everything is in boxes and packed well so nothing can break and you get lucky enough to get a crew who knows to not stack huge heavy boxes on top of small light fragile boxes, then you may do ok.

My move took 7.5 hours and at least 2 hours of that was removing and restacking said boxes that had fallen over. Moving Staffers did deduct 2 hours from my bill, however, I've been back since I settled to discover broken furniture and this is just what I could see from the entrance door.

I rarely write reviews but I really think you need to know exactly what you are getting with this company before you decide to use them. I didn't read enough reviews and just went with them cause they came recommended by uPack, a company I respect.

Read this before you book them.

Moving Staffers with its multi-state presence and centralized service sounds like the promise of a safe and carefree move. I, like many others, fell into that trap. Lucky for me, a near-disaster turned into a great blessing. I have now notified both my previous employer Johns Hopkins University and my new employer Carnegie Mellon University to list Moving Staffers as dispreferred service. What I want to do here is to make you realize how Moving Staffers actually operates. Once you read this, you can make an informed choice.

I often do a good deal of online research before I book a service. Moving Staffers has mostly negative reviews, so why did I book them? Because they are partnered with UPack, which is actually a decent and highly-rated service. When they recommended Moving Staffers as their trusted partner, I made the mistake of taking that as reliable validation. I booked Moving Staffers a month ahead of my move. My husband and I both have demanding jobs, so I was planning a weekend move. Moving Staffers told me I couldn’t do that because I was receiving the “plus service”, and to ensure that my moving coordinator could be on top of things in the off chance that anything goes wrong, Sundays were out. They also excluded other options for various reasons, so packing and loading was scheduled for the middle of the week. I was unhappy with this timing, but I told myself “peace of mind is better than anything!” So I agreed. We were packing a small 2-bedroom apartment. They charged me nearly $3000 for packing, loading and unloading (no storage, transportation, etc.). Sounds extravagant, but I told myself “peace of mind!”.

It was the day before the scheduled appointment, and no one has contacted me about the plan. So I called. The coordinator assigned to me did not answer my call (or my email). So I called the general number. I talked to someone else, who assured me all was well. I asked when the movers will arrive? She put me on hold for a while, then responded that she would have to get back to me later. Later that evening, I finally received an email, informing me that the crew will show up the next day between 11:00 and 1:00. We got the truck, and sat waiting. No one showed up. I called. The same person as the day before answered. I explained my worry. She said she would look into it. An hour later, a man called me, and informed me, in the most casual tone, without offering even an apology, that no one was going to show up today. “Maybe tomorrow” he said. I was flabbergasted. I thought I was paying $3000 for a back-up plan, so if one crew does not show up, there will be a plan B. I was sorely mistaken. In fact, Moving Staffers is nothing but a phone coordinator between local movers. It means that they have the information of your local movers, and call them (like you yourself would), but the catch is they charge you an extravagant amount for it. My credit card has already been charged, and I was being told with the most condescending “Ma’am” tone that that was that. When I said I would file a complaint, I was old that I had “threatened” them, and they immediately canceled my move on both cities.

The good thing is that I’m not easily fazed. I picked up the phone, and called some local movers. An hour later they were at my place. While they were packing, I also called movers in my destination city, and booked a trustworthy service there. Our move went without a glitch after that, and guess what? It cost exactly HALF the price of what Moving Staffers were charging me. Now make your own choice. Happy moving! .

Long-distance move from Helena, MT to Denver, CO

Interstate move.

From the intital phone call explaining how the service worked to the multlple phone calls I made with questions that were all answered to my satisfaction their service was great.
The crew showed up on time were motivated and did a great and careful job unloading the truck on a 94 degree day. They helped get beds put together and were still done an hour before the pre-scheduled estimate so I got an hour refund. Would use them again!!

I would not have known about Move Staffers except through U-pack and would give high marks to both these companies.

Long-distance move from Hickory, NC to Pittsburgh, PA

North Carolina to Pennsylvania.

We reserved a U-Pack trailer and hired movers via Moving Staffers. The phone representatives pulled our move information right from the U-Pack order and was able to recommend the number of laborers and hours needed to get the job done. Moving Staffers matches you job with local moving companies.

Our origin movers showed up on time, and were responsible for packing and loading. Despite the fairly large job and our doubts, the crew was able to get the job done inside the quoted time frame. They were professional and hard working, and were careful in packing our delicate items. They also were careful to load the trailer appropriately, heavy in the bottom, roping off every so many feet, etc. Everything was secured. Top notch.

The destination crew showed up on time, and were responsible for unloading the trailer, placing items in the correct rooms based on labeling and my direction. They got the job done inside the quoted time frame, and with only few exceptions, everything ended up in the appropriate rooms. Also nicely done!

In consideration of the other reviews I see here, it seems you are very much at the mercy of the local moving companies you are paired with. It would be worth it to just call the company you are paired with to explain the job and expectations ahead of time, so they can be sure to send the right people to you.
