Classic Bait and Switch!

Do not use this moving company! They claimed to be Veteran owned and operated, and claim to not use Subcontractors. All not true. They quoted us a fair price and once the Subcontractor came he wanted an additional $4,000. I called the office to let them know what was happening and that I couldn’t pay the additional amount, they said they would keep my deposit since I signed a contract. The mover ended up taking way fewer items than we contracted for and then charged us an additional $300 saying that our items were “ bulky”! Our contract clearly states that no additional fees would be added. Upon final delivery to our new location which took about 1 month, they demanded CASH only and said the amount we owed was more than the balance we had on the invoice. They did not process our credit card deposit and then wanted only cash along with the balance. The movers who were from Ukraine, would not unload 1 piece of furniture until we gave them CASH only! This is a very deceptive and unfair company! My furniture, which cost over $10,000 was damaged by the movers. Midland Vanlines has an online claim dispute pathway of which I submitted my claim for damaged furniture and the extra charges. I submitted pictures and receipts of my furniture costs. I received an email saying they were glad to settle my dispute for $75.00. What a complete disgrace! This amount is not even close to the weight of my furniture for which I was insured at .60 per pound! This company clearly needs to be investigated.

Excellent job!

Excellent job! Their honesty was refreshing when it came to the pricing and their capacity to complete the task I requested. I have no qualms about using them again or recommending them to anyone looking for movers.

MY UGLY EXPERIENCE WITH MIDLAND VAN LINES MOVING COMPANY

INTENTIONAL SCAMMERS & FRAUDSTERS! RUN FORREST RUN!

I spoke with Steven Grauf on 12/04/24 and gave him the exact size of my storage unit, which I even pulled up from my email and told him was 10x15x8 and almost full to the brim. He intentionally removed 1 from the 15 and wrote 10x5x8. We agreed on $2,382.51 total to move all my stuff from the above unit from Houston, TX, to Tampa, FL. Immediately after they pulled the $982.56 deposit he demanded, Steven stopped picking up my calls and never responded to my texts. Meanwhile, he told me that he was my account manager, that I should call or text him if I have any questions. Today, 12/12/24, a Gary called me and said he's a quality assurance guy from Midland Van Lines and wants to take inventory of my items they'll be moving. I said okay. After I answered all his questions [the same things I previously told Steven], Gary told me that my bill is now $4840.90, and that the bill of lading I signed said that my storage unit is 10x5x8! That I have to pay him another $1,300 deposit [on top of the deposit I previously paid]. When I requested that he should refund me my hard-earned $982.56, he told me no refunds. The next thing, I got a text from him and from Steven's line saying that they have canceled my scheduled service and won't refund me. I am raging in anger right now because these were the same things Steven told me that other moving companies do to folks, and he even advised me to block anyone else that calls me from other moving companies. Steven hurled my ass to sign the bill of lading while he held me over the phone and told me that if I don't sign right away, I will lose the slot, and I won't get scheduled. That they typically don't have any space for a move within 2-3 weeks timeframe, that I was very lucky something popped up and that he needs me to sign and pay immediately to secure the spot, and that it only takes a few seconds to sign. When I told him that I really need to read the contract before signing, Steven told me that I don't need to read the whole document before signing and that I will lose the chances of being moved on December 15th as planned, that I should use my phone and sign on their eSignature platform via the email he sent to me already. Hence, I signed it. Steven never told me that my deposit is non-refundable and that they'll jack up my bill 2 days before my moving date! Why didn’t they perform the quality assurance before deducting money from my bank account? What wasn’t the quality assurance done right after the initial paperwork was completed? Why wait until 2 days to my moving date to come up with a story that my bill is now $4840.90? Worse off, immediately I requested a refund from Gary went into their back office and inflated my bill on all the quotes Steven emailed me on Dec 4th & 5th. Now, Gary is telling me that the fine print on the document I signed says non-refundable! WORSE OFF, Gary refused to release the voice recording of the conversations between Steven and I. This was and still is a master-planned scam! TO MIDLAND VAN LINES, REFUND MY MONEY BACK TO MY ORIGINAL FORM OF PAYMENT, ASAP!

Do not hire this company.

Midland Van Lines is the worst company to work with.

We were told by James that Midland was family & veteran owned. James had also given an guaranteed delivery date of August 5th to my family. All my lifelong belongings and everything important to us had not shown up. I called Midland several times, and never had anyone pick up the phone. Dominique had finally answered but she was very rude and seemed agitated, she didn't listen to anything we had to say and numerously cut us off and told us our guaranteed delivery date was a typo and regardless of it being a signed contract, that she can't help us and went to hang up the phone. After multiple calls and emails, we were told stuff would be delivered to Virginia on either August 27, or August 28th. Many of our family members changed their plans for the week so our mother could find the first flight out Virginia and help out with the move. It is the night of the 28th and we are now being told our belongings never left, and that we will be getting them A WEEK from now. We have been lied to and deceived by this company and their antics.

This is costing us thousands of dollars for our family. Midland will ignore calls and be rude towards you for no reason. DO NOT use this company.

Worst company, a bunch of liars

They gave me one estimate of $3600 to move from Colorado to Connecticut and instantly it became $5700 when they got to my house. This is after I actually sold three giant items out of what they based the estimate based on. So less cubic feet should've been a lot less money, not $2,100 over what they quoted. It's been a month since I've been here, and Daniella from customer service is not calling back. Each time I call she insists that she called and left me a message. She was supposed to look at the "bill of lading" since I signed it, that's what she'll go by.

I insisted when they got there that there's no way for me to measure cubic feet or confirm it. If I want to move, I better sign it.

It's all a lie.

They broke my furniture. Broke expensive dishes. The guy that delivered the furniture in CT yelled at me, and I'm pretty sure he is the one that hit my car when I saw it after they left.

Do yourself a favor, DON'T USE THEM. Liars.

Horrible company

This company has been horrible to work with. I spent a very long time on the phone with Adrian who as I listed exactly what items I had to a T. He gave me the quote and ensured me that my quote would be very close to what he quoted. That was not the case. I had to leave multiple items behind because of he quote was almost double when the movers arrived. When my things finally did arrive they were damaged. They thing brought in things that were not even my items. I guess that is where my missing items went as well. The mover then set all my boxes in one room and did not set up anything for me. I was directed to the service manager Daniella who was suppose to help me with these issues and sent me an email to make a claim. She has been extremely rude and unprofessional. I have called to check back on these issues to be told by her that their are other customers. I asked if she could sent me the claim email again and she put me on hold for 30 minutes. She has only made excuses and I still have not even been able to make a claim. Avoid this company at all costs.

Never Using Them Again

Midland Van Lines is the worst Choice you can make for yourself on a moving company. They low ball you on their estimate then not coordinate your ship out date. They are rude and not understanding that you are moving material that is important. I would recommend Atlas Vans instead as they are a good moving company.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Moving Misery.

They quoted a delivery date that worked best for us.  After they picked it up they then preceeded to tell us a truck got cancelled, we will be sending a different truck, then we got told that they only deliver to a particular province at the end of the month.  Every time we tried to find out when our stuff was going to be delivered we got a different story.  They never returned a phone calls. They then gave us a higher than negotiated price based on a weight that was 1 1/2 times what was estimated and we had no way to prove that the weight was correct. we had to pay via direct bank transfer as they wouldn't accept credit or cheque. They definitely did not make moving from one province to another easy or comfortable.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Ontario

Useless.

Here are the emails I have sent to this company with zero response - when I have called, the people I have spoken to have no answers to my questions.  I find it ridiculous that a shipping company can't tell a client exactly where their shipment is and when it will arrive.

March 31
Hello mark,
Thanks for your help so far.  The movers were terrific last night - doing a great job loading the truck with our set/props/costumes.
I just want to confirm the delivery time with you.
We will need the shipment to arrive at the mady center (1 Dunlop street, west - Barrie, on) on Sunday, April 6th around noon.
If you can confirm that delivery time for me that would be great.
Best,
Peter

Hello mark,
It is extremely frustrating that I haven't gotten a response to the emails below.  Not only that - but I've called and spoken to two different people who can't give me any information on my shipment.
I need to know by the end of today - exactly where my shipment is and when it is estimated to arrive into.
As you know it is a set for a theater production.  We have a crew coming to the theater on Sunday to install the set.  If the set isn't there it will put our entire production schedule in jeopardy.
Please get back to me today with the information I need.
Best,
Peter

I need someone to call be back before the end of business today.
It is imperative that our shipment be delivered this weekend.  And we need to figure out how to make that happen.

April 4
This is so so so so frustrating.
The lovely people who work in the office can not get me any helpful information at all - and we need information to help minimize the disaster that is about to befall our theater company if this shipment doesn't get to its destination on time.

Whoever is reading these emails I need a response!

Questions I would like answered:
A - when did the shipment leave Vancouver?
B - where is it right now
C - why is it delayed
D - what is the best and worst case scenario for delivery.

Again - this shipment contains the set, props, and costumes for our entire show.  In order for the show to be ready for an audience on Thursday evening, we need the set at the theater as soon as possible.  It takes a full day to put the set together, a full day to focus the lights once it is installed and a day to work with the actors/technicians/musicians that are involved.

Not getting this set on time f**ks our company completely.
I'm sure we can sort out a plan to deal with this but not without adequate information.

If the set arrives on Sunday as planned - great
If the set arrives on Monday - a delay we can deal with
If the set arrives on Tuesday - we start having to deal with costs of overtime for technicians/cast/crew in order to have the show ready
If the set arrives on Wednesday - it is a major setback - barely doable
If the set arrives on Thursday - we keep our fingers crossed that by some miracle we can pull the show together on time.
If the set arrives on Friday - it's useless to us - costing us tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue and payouts for services we no longer need.

I need someone at midland to go to get on the phone - call me - call the shippers - call the train company - call everyone they can possibly imagine until we have the answers to these questions and I need it to be done now.  The longer we have to wait for answers the more screwed we are.

Be a good person - help us out.
We have people getting on planes tomorrow morning to begin work on this show.
Please please please please please please respond!
Peter

It is now April 7 and I still don't have answers to my questions and no one has any information for me at all.

Do not give yourself this stress.  Hire a different moving company.  If this can happen once it can happen again - don't let it happen to you.

Huge ripoff.

They purposely under quote you. 12 years in the business you would think they could give a better guesstimate than 1800 for a 950 sq ft house with 3 bedrooms and a family of four. Once they get your stuff, the price goes up to almost triple what you were quoted. Even after you tell them 4-5 times that if it is any more you will not be able to afford it that you would go UHAUL. Moral of the story go UHAUL these guys are scum. Then they claim that it was a misunderstanding. Well we had at least three of them. How convenient.

Don't Use - Sales Lies about everything

Was sold "White Glove" Service with full pack move and unpack. They say and there website advertised A+ from the BBB and 5 starts from Google. Was told they don't use brokers and Midland Van Lines Trucks and Employees wearing Midland shirts will do the move. Will be 4 guys to pack/load and unpack. All of the above was a lie. They don't even have a Google Review page, and they have terrible rating from the Better Business Bureau. They used brokers for everything, and no Midland Truck. They had 3 guys for packing before one had to leave to go to the dentist. They arrived late and went well past the scheduled elevator time in the building. Couldn't get anyone to respond to my VM's and emails for scheduling the move in. Got a text from someone that wouldn't talk to me because he didn't speak good english and had to use a translator on a Sunday almost 2 weeks later saying he will be there in the hour. I said we have to schedule with the property. Worked it out to deliver on Tuesday. Midland then contact me to charge me for the extra storage days. On Tuesday the texter shows up with no help. Just him, and says he wants the final third payment in cash otherwise he is going to drive off. Says don't pay Midland as if you do they will not pay me. Talked to Midland and they said don't pay him (even though the contract says to pay him on arrival). Says pay us directly and then we will let him know to start the move. I said we need more guys. Midland says we will get more guys after you pay us. Driver days I am driving off if you pay them. We found a random guy and hired him to help. Paid the driver and then moved. Anything and everything that was large was broken in some way. 2 legs off a chaise lounge. Entire leg off of an antique desk, etc... Midland Van Lines refused to cover anything.

Long-distance move from Venice, FL to Houston, TX

NEVER AGAIN....

We paid over $16,000 for a nightmare.

We attempted to look your company up on the BBB website and were unable to locate you – which seems crazy because your website has multiple A+ ratings from the BBB, and additional reviews that are not what we experienced in the least. We will NEVER use this company or any others that behave in this unprofessional manner ever again.

The initial quote was not realistic and not even close to what we ended up paying. Payment options were far from ideal when we have never used Zelle before – our only other option to pay was with cash or money order. We cannot understand why there is not an option for credit/debit?? This was very limiting to us as we do not have a physical bank in either area that we currently live – or the area we left. This made arranging payment very unpredictable and not easy to do…stopping at multiple ATM systems along the drive from FL to TX. Knowing we would be charged by the hour if we didn’t have the correct payment when the drivers arrived.

Additional stair charge: We were told (by the original packing employees in FL) that inside stairs were included in the cost of a Full-Service move, but we were charged $150 for them anyway. Upon arrival of our items in TX, we were told we were going to have to pay an EXTRA $700 for the movers to take anything of ours up the stairs. After a phone call to Midland, and a wait to hear back, we were told that they would accept an extra $250 to move things up the stairs if we paid for that. We did, because my wife and I can’t carry all of these things ourselves. They only moved our bedroom furniture, 3 wardrobe boxes, and our tv stand in the living room. They didn’t re-assemble anything (once again, we thought this was all part of the extremely expensive package we paid for).

Additional generator charge: We told the people on the phone twice that we had a generator on wheels. Once on the initial phone call with Marcus Reed, and once on the confirmation of items call with Michael O’Malley. No one EVER said anything about $150 charge for this but once the drivers showed up in FL to pack our things, we were told they’d have to charge us $150 for a bulky item. Once again, we told them TWICE that we had this and nothing was ever said about an additional charge until the day of.

Additional tool box charge: Tool box was bulky, but on wheels and rolls VERY easily. We were charged $350 for this and literally it was put on a lift on the back of the truck and lifted on. Then when unloaded, it easily rolled down a small ramp. Hardly worth paying an extra $350 for but hey, extra charges anyway you can get them right?

We paid a large amount of money to Midland Van Lines (or we think that is who the company was...) for your employees who are unprofessional, non-marked/identifiable clothing, non-English speaking folks ~ to cram our items into boxes that were mismatched, unlabeled or labeled inappropriately, and unorganized – to say the least. The moving trucks that were utilized were also unmarked or had a magnet with a different company name on each of the two we encountered. Not a good feeling when you are trusting these individuals with your entire home contents.

Then for some unknown reason, the once decently packed truck was UNPACKED and repacked into another truck for transport with a “sister company” after we were told this move was going to be with Midland Van Lines the whole way through. This was not the case and no doubt most of the damage had to have occurred when the truck was re-packed on to another truck. How stupid is that? The truck was almost all the way full so there was no reason to move things and toss them around.

The end result was a FAR cry from our original quote for a FULL-SERVICE move. We were told they would set up all the furniture etc. once inside our rental. This isn’t even remotely what happened.

Once we were able to get to the boxes that were stacked in the garage, we literally had to unpack everything from each box; and re-pack them because we had NO CLUE what was in each one, since the labeling was so poor. Many of our items were thrown into these boxes including items from the office such as thumb tacks, paper clips, computer monitors, pencils, pens, you name it – all in a LARGE wardrobe box…this particular box was labeled ‘garage’.

The drivers were late both times, pickup and delivery, from when they told us they would be at our place over the phone, leaving us sitting around wondering what was going on and where they were. Communication was absolutely awful.

Move from Florida to Georgia

I’ve been looking for a good moving company that can transport my household goods for over 2 years. I frequently move and every past moving experience has been awful for me, that is until my good friend suggested I move with midland. Midland has been nothing but professional during my move and their team took great care of me and my wife. All of our items arrived in the same perfect condition and we couldn't be more appreciative to have found a company like Midland. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to move especially from state to state. Thank you Dominique for your amazing customer service and expertise.

My moving experience

While my experience with Midland Van Lines had some hiccups, I must say they impressed me with their commitment to resolving issues promptly. The initial quote was competitive, and the communication leading up to the move was satisfactory. However, on moving day, there was a slight delay in the arrival of the crew due to unforeseen circumstances.

Once the team arrived, they worked efficiently to pack and load my belongings. Unfortunately, there was a minor mishap with one of my furniture items during transit. I immediately contacted Midland Van Lines to express my concern, and to their credit, they addressed the issue promptly and professionally. They took responsibility for the damage, and the claims process was surprisingly smooth.

What sets Midland Van Lines apart is their dedication to customer satisfaction. The customer service team was responsive and understanding, and they went above and beyond to make things right. The compensation for the damaged item was fair and timely. While the move had its challenges, I appreciate the transparency, accountability, and the effort Midland Van Lines put into resolving the issues.

In the end, despite the initial setbacks, I can confidently recommend Midland Van Lines for their integrity and commitment to making things right when challenges arise. They turned what could have been a negative experience into one that demonstrated their reliability and customer-focused approach.
