Max Moving & Storage

We hired Max Moving and storage (MMS) -DOT# 2087974- for full packing & moving service from VA to PA through National Express Van lines (NEVL). The broker (NEVL) & the Mover (MMS) promised us that our delivery will be ONLY on Sunday on TIME, 09/30/18 from 9 AM to 10 AM. The TRUCK Movers (MMS) brought was huge & the mover staff (which included Rocky and one other guy), started packing our belongings without wrapping them in blankets, but there were blankets available and we asked them to wrap them so the furniture doesn't get damaged to which Rocky said he don't have enough tape to do it and he requested me to go buy it for them; by the time I went to get the tape for 25 minutes, the truck was surprisingly full and our furniture was not even in it and they left the furniture and the washer and dyer to be picked by another truck the next day. Due to that reason, they overcharged us by saying we had more than what we were initially quoted. Our furniture was mishandled since the packers (MMS) stacked it right OUTSIDE the truck instead of inside the truck & it started to rain after an hour. I was told by the packer (Rocky) that I was going to be reimbursed for the tape by Guy Ailam & he won't reimburse it. We had only asked NEVL & MMS several times to deliver our goods on time on 09/30/18 since I was going to start my new job in PA and Sunday was my only day off. I had important documents and my clothes that I needed from this delivery to start my new job. Guy Ailam (MMS) assured us that it will be delivered on Sunday and I also wrote it on their contract by hand. Unfortunately, Max Movers and the broker ( NEVL) instead delivered it on Thursday, 10/04/18. Guy Ailam was rude on the phone & he wouldn't give us a specific time and date of delivery for us to be home. Upon arrival, we saw it was the same truck which was half loaded with our complete belongings on delivery (some of it was damaged). They overcharged and fooled us with fraud.

Please do not hire a broker like National Express Van Lines who doesn't have their own Moving staff and they sub-contract people like Guy Ailam from Max Moving and storage who have bad reviews.

Guy Ailam was rude and wouldn't even give us an estimated date or time of delivery of our belongings. The total cost of the move was $5900+ for a two bedroom apartment. The Broker, National Express Van Lines, charged us $1550+ and the remainder went to Guy Ailam from Max Moving and Storage. They are scamming people by stacking the boxes in the truck in a way that it will look the truck is full and they will charge you more, I wouldn't have realized it until they brought our stuff back in the same truck and beware of the moving staff too, esp with Rocky, and keep a watch on them while they stack.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5900

I had a very small move. 1 queen bed, 1 sectional sofa, small entertainment unit, 6 medium boxes, 6 small boxes, and 14 framed pictures. I do not believe it was reasonable for this move to take 29 days. Expecting clients to write down their credit card information is also extremely suspicious. [Details]
(A) My delivery was delayed multiple times and ultimately took 29 days. The local movers originally told me that delivery could not occur until at least 10 days following pick-up (note, due to the broker, this was determined on pick-up). Pick up occurred July 25, and I scheduled delivery for Aug 7, which was 13 days following pickup. Delivery did not occur, and I was told on Aug 8 that it would be "about 4 more days". I tried to reach them on Aug 14 and had no answer, but EZ Moving Van Lines (the broker) assured me delivery would occur "within the week", which I assumed be by Aug 18. I communicated with them on Aug 17 to check on the status and was told "maybe Sunday or Monday [Aug 21]". Delivery did not occur by Monday, but I was assured that it would occur by Tuesday, Aug. 22. Note that by this point, I was seriously concerned that I had fallen victim to fraud and that my possessions had been effectively stolen. Finally, on Aug 22, delivery did actually occur, roughly 8:15 PM, which was three hours later than originally told that day. (B) At pick-up, I was told by the manager that if I was paying by credit card, that the only way to accomplish this was to write down all of my credit card information, including the CVV, on a piece of paper and sign that as the receipt. When I spoke to him about this, he demanded that it was the only way he could have a signed receipt. However, on July 28, I received an email containing a receipt to print and sign and return, which clearly showed that there was a way to produce a digital receipt that I could have signed from my computer instead. As a result of this transaction, I needed to freeze my credit card and arrange for a replacement. (C) My possessions did appear to arrive complete and intact. Nothing was obviously broken or damaged. Note that an outside contractor (not an employee of Max Moving & Storage) was further hired to deliver my goods, but I felt that mover did a very good job unloading and taking good care with my possessions.
