I had a very disappointing experience with Master Movers. During my move, several of my items went missing, and despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the company refused to take responsibility. My stuff were also delivered in two loads which I was notified of on the last minute.
To make matters worse, a box that was missing for three days finally arrived, but some of the contents were still missing. When I raised these concerns, Master Movers shifted the blame onto me, even though the negligence clearly occurred during transit by their own staff.
The lack of accountability and poor communication throughout this process has been incredibly frustrating. I chose this company believing my belongings would be handled with care, but instead, I’m left dealing with lost items and no resolution. I do not recommend Master Movers to anyone who values their belongings.
Worst moving company! They only delivered a portion of my shipment on the agreed delivery date, and left half my shipment in Johannesburg, despite having a signed contract and receiving full payment in advance. They were rude and completely unhelpful when I tried to ascertain when the remainder of my shipment would be delivered. The remainder of my shipment arrived more than a week late, without any explanation or even so much as an apology from master movers. They damaged multiple items, including a huge rip in the fabric of my lounge suite, and refused to offer any compensation, despite me sending them the documentation in which I requested insurance cover. I would never use them again, and I would certainly never recommend that anyone use their pathetic service
Extremely poor unprofessional service from the operations team
I am all for promoting small businesses BUT if you are moving household goods from one city to the next you are better off using the longer-standing movers.
Firstly I will thank the guys on the ground the ones that came to move the stuff.
The Master Movers Operations people or whoever is in charge - are absolutely NOT professional, do nothing and clearly, once you have paid the attitude is - What are you going to do you already paid us.
I am writing this 1 week after the goods were delivered - after all the issues and inconvenience, no one has contacted us to follow up.
I'll have you know I have used other movers and the level of professionalism I experienced, made me feel like these people care about my goods like their own.
Before I begin, my Lady chose MM after reading reviews, it was not my choice to use master movers.
Here is my honest review as if I was in a courtroom.
We made the payment as per their quote.
?#1 We had to do all the follow-ups to ensure the team will be there to collect.
?#2 Gentlemen collected - said the goods will be at the depot and moved on the next truck to leave (shared load)
Someone from operations will call us they said.
?#3 No one called since the goods were collected on a Wednesday Morning.
The following Monday we call to find out what is going on (as they had said the truck moves on the Weekend)
?#4 They collected on a Wednesday 1 March - we had booked and paid weeks ahead 13 Feb. - so you would assume your load has been scheduled accordingly.
?#5 Monday we called the Branch in the City we had moved to.
They said the goods have not arrived - Please call Joburg.
I said why am I calling, I am not your PA - I paid your company to handle it - I asked what kind of arrangement they had - are they not one company?
Called the Joburg branch - The receptionist lady was very helpful and said she will find out and called me back - to say the Goods had not been left. The operations manager will call us when he is in.
?#6 No call on that day from the operations manager Joburg. (Monday)
?#7 Tuesday - Raymond from Operations calls my lady and says the goods have arrived in our City - this Office would call us.
So we waited - no call - But with excitement, the goods arrived - I proceed to book my appointments and reschedule meetings so that I can be there to receive my goods this week.
?#8 The Wednesday I call the local office - Yes no one called me so I had to do the calling - no goods arrived WTF.
?#9 I call Joburg to be told the goods are still in Joburg we apologize blah blah blah - no one wants to take responsibility for the person who is suddenly now on leave or off for that day for whatever reason -
To this day said Person never called us or responded to our follow-up email - no apology for lying to us about the goods arriving.
?#10 Dawn said she would personally make sure it’s on the next trip and will call me once it’s on the load, on Friday. - NO CALL came - I had to call the following Monday
The goods arrived the following week - damaged Table edge - we took pics the delivery gentleman doing the checking took pics too.
No one called about that - nor a follow-up - NOTHING.
So if you ask me how I rate this company - Minus 6 stars out of 5 so way in the minus.
Living where I live I am immune to bad service and in fact, expect it from the boots on the ground - that way I have more room to be impressed -
But in this case - terrible operations I was never ready for. ? Their nonchalant attitude pretty much makes me think someone out there has been treated the same by these people. You can’t just bump a shipment off a trip and not communicate like - if we never called would it have ever been loaded?

Time is more than just money, it’s reputation, it’s your character - I rescheduled appointments 3x that’s bad...
for the record: I paid them from my account + dealt with the guys on the ground and did followups and still the Ops team acts like they bath in milk and can do no wrong
Several hours late to my house and then final invoice almost twice the previous quote. Company owner refused to let crew leave my new house until they were paid. Settled on $1850 but then I disputed $400 causing the whole amount to be frozen by PayPal. Owner begged me for funds so I paid him via Venmo while waiting for PayPal to release the money they were holding. They eventually released the full $1850 to the mover (not to me) in September, despite the fact that he had, by this time, also been paid via Venmo. The owner had always promised to return this second amount to me once he received it, but he never has, and now refuses to answer my calls, emails or text messages.
Master Movers has not registered their account and is not actively maintaining their profile.
