Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Evanston, IL

Possible scam.

LDRS picked up my things almost an entire month ago and they are still being held in a storage facility across the country. We already paid in full so I suppose they have no incentive to follow through with our delivery. I was given a few delivery dates that kept being pushed back and they finally admitted that they never even loaded my things for delivery when they said they did. I see no timeline for getting my things back and have incurred great expense from repurchasing everyday household items like a stroller and a highchair since mine are being held. We have been sleeping on the floor and living out of a suitcase for the past month with no end in sight.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Austin, TX

DO NOT USE these movers!

They are rude, incompetent and will damage your items. The movers aren’t trained - they’re all new and inexperienced. They damaged our new hardwood floors and ALL of our furniture was seriously damaged.

We moved from LA to Texas - to begin:
*they lied and misrepresented the company and said that our items would be immediately delivered to Texas. They in fact were not - they were stored in LA.
* It took weeks to get our items.
* Once they were finally delivered EVERYTHING was seriously damaged.

PLEASE DO NOT use these movers. It’s a terrible waste of money.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Dallas, TX

Highly recommended.

My job makes me move more times than I care to remember, especially because the movers have been so consistently bad. This was my first time using Long Distance Relocation Services and it seems they are the only company that I will use again and even recommend to others. From the moment I contacted them, they were nothing but consummate professionals. I believe Joy at their office is the sales manager and she is responsible for a lot of the success they have had. Leann and Brandy, also did a great job.

Long-distance move from Livermore, CA to Chesapeake, VA

Belongings not delivered.

My Belongings will not be delivered by the date time frame that was specified in the written contract. The movers have said that all they have to do is compensate me $30 a day for each late day.

Several of the customer service and sales people who I spoke with in the process of trying to resolve this told me that it is normal for one-bedroom apartment moves to be delivered past the promised timeframe.

As soon as I had a physical address, I provided it to the movers. They then told me that they had a full 17 business days to deliver my items from that date. While I wasn’t really happy to hear this, I understood that it is contractually binding because it was in the fine print that I signed. After waiting patiently, I heard from them and found out that they will not even be putting my items on the truck until the week of the originally promised delivery. Since this is a cross-country move, this means that I will not have my items for probably 5 to 6 days past the promised original dates. The issue with this now is that I have to travel for work and I have been trying to structure my schedule around the delivery of my items. I have made numerous efforts to call customer service to attempt to schedule my work around the delivery, and I have been told that they would call me back the next day, but they don’t. Now that my items will be delivered past the promised window, I won’t be able to be here when it works for the company. They have told me that they would try to give me a 24 hour window of heads up before they arrive, but that does not allow me to do anything except be here waiting for my stuff.

This company has in every way taken full advantage of the maximum allowable delivery window. I have to travel now and I don’t know how they are going to handle having to store my belongings for extra days. I am working with their customer service supervisor, who is trying to help resolve this, but unfortunately, I still do not have a delivery date, And I have both business and family travel planned.

I would never recommend this company for a cross-country move. The only positive thing I can say is that the pick up occurred on time and went smoothly. The delivery has been a nightmare.

Long-distance move from Gloucester Point, VA to New Braunfels, TX

Do not move with this company.

What I know now of this business, I would never use this company. Do your research but AVOID this company. They are not even accredited by BBB. This was the worst experience we have ever had with any business and customer service is just as poor. I’m not even sure how they are able to continue their practice because of the fraud and dishonesty of their business. They lack a code of ethics. We were quoted $6400 and paid over 12K. It was a nightmare from start to finish.Their advertisement of accurate estimates is a sham. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Listen to those detailed complaints, as you will see the similarities and what others experienced.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Don't Give Them Your Business They Will Rip You Off!!

This was one of the top traumatic experiences in my life moving. I moved from California to Florida. Anything bad that could happen with a moving company happened. These people quoted low in the beginning, and loaded my 5 bedroom house in 2 trucks. The 1st day I looked in cabinets and they forgot to pack some dishes. They came at noon and I had to stay at my neighbors until 10 pm with my toddler to not get in the way. They came back the second day, and the truck took off without adding anything to the inventory. My husband and I were shocked. When they arrived in Florida they wouldn't unload without cash. It was not the same people who loaded and they unloaded other people's things, they broke so many of my furniture and items, and a LOT of things were MISSING. They also damaged the walls in the new place. The person in charge I could barely understand and I was so upset about my broken items after paying them $!4K to move!! I basically paid them to move broken furniture, other boxes that belonged to someone else, and have no idea to this day where the 2nd load went. They had no sympathy, apology or seemed to even care. I was in tears!! The workers were so unprofessional cussing and smoking outside of my house saying they just answered an ad, in otherwords they were NOT professional movers. When the guy in charge left to get more items, he didn't tell them and the workers left behind thought he ditched them without pay!! This was the most UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE, and this was NOT the first time I ever moved. Paula was the WORST. When I called there was no attitude of caring about my items. I sent the claim form in and called A MONTH later if she received it, and she said no. I said, it figures you lost it like the rest of our stuff!! I forced her to go look for it, then she came back on the phone and was like oh yeah we have it. I asked for the manager, and she was like I am the manager. I called claims back and was put on hold then decided to hit '1' for sales and BEHOLD someone answered. I told them my story and they looked at the notes and said it was a HOT MESS. I was put on hold again and then call ended. Someone from customer service finally returned my call to hear about what happened with my claims and missing stuff, and she just called back to tell me that they have 4 months to respond back. I go, is that how long it will take to respond?? I finally told my neighbor a lawyer who will write them a letter if I don't hear back in 30 days. POINT: DO NOT GIVE THESE RIPOFF ARTISTS YOUR BUSINESS, THEY WILL WRECK YOUR STUFF AND NOT CARE!! They will put you off if you have a problem after but pick up that phone quick to get your business!! Do NOT believe in their lies of marketing. Better to go with a reputable name mover.

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to Dallas, TX

Move to Columbus, OH to Dallas, TX -- expensive mistake.

NO, NO, NO ! Company seems super nice and friendly until you pay your deposit. It is all downhill from there.. Our move was from Columbus, Ohio to Dallas, TX. Gave us a very low quote to get business after going over everything in home. The price quoted to us actually DOUBLED after they loaded the truck. We even got rid of some things. It was 9:30 at night and was told that if we call office the next day, they would give us a discount. WRONG. Paula AND Tina in customer service are probably the most unpolished, unprofessional people I have ever encountered. They talk over you, interrupt and do not care what happens after they get your possessions. They act like they are doing you a favor by even talking to you and you can tell by conversations with them that they have these rude conversations on a daily basis with irate customers. Tina actually accused my husband of lying to me! They even threatened not to deliver our stuff for 21 days at one point. On a Friday afternoon I contacted them to get status on our arrival and I could here everyone celebrating in the background on how much $$ they made for the week. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! They lie to you consistently on how they will call you back and then never do. Our belongings arrived in Dallas only a day late but our TOOL BOX, BRAND NEW COFFEE MAKER AND ONE TELEVISION WERE TAKEN and never made it to Dallas. The movers also scratched up a credenza in the hallway of the apartment building and denied it. This was caught on security video. We had to call and email the company 4 times just to get a claim form (which is a joke, anyway.) Moving is never easy, especially state to state, don't make it worse by using this company. We are still dealing with the consequences.

Long-distance move from Crystal Lake, IL to Simpsonville, SC

Highly Advise AGAINST..

The movers clearly held no regard for our belongings and I feel this company is incredibly unethical. As I’m sure you know, word of mouth advertising is a powerful tool. PLEASE do NOT use this company under any circumstance. I know there are a lot of good reviews and an excellent BBB rating, but I cannot stress enough that they do not stand up to those reviews or the rating. I am exhausted and have no fight left in me after this ordeal. I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this.

Below is an abbreviated version of part of our experience..
As if moving isn’t one of the most stressful situations already, my husband is unpacking our stuff and finding many of our items not to be in the condition they were in when I packed them and saw them safely on the truck at pickup. He is finding damaged box after damaged box with all broken stuff inside. The utter disrespect these movers showed us and our belongings is so sad and outrageous. Our experience with Long Distance Relocation Services has been a nightmare. Not only did I end up having to pay thousands more than I was originally quoted, but now how many more thousands am I going to have to spend to replace our broken items. I am so disappointed. My complaint is not only with the condition of our items, but also the condescending manner in which I was talked to when I called into the office. While speaking with an office worker, I made a comment about not choosing LDRS if I knew it would cost as much as it ended up costing me and I believe the woman’s response to that was, “If I had a nickel for every time a customer said that…” My question to that is, why do you have so many customers who would have to make that statement, if your sales people were accurate in their quotes? I feel this was a bait and switch. The sales people were smooth talkers asking what they could do to get us to the price we were comfortable with. Little did we know, it wouldn’t matter what price they gave us, it would be made up for at pick up when we were trapped into using their services. They had already started moving our stuff by the time the driver gave me his quote (the one that nearly doubled from my original quote). When I called the office to question the price increase, they said it was just a quote and it may not end up being that much and I signed the document and there wasn’t much they could do to work with me. Of course I signed the document, they had already started loading my belongings onto the truck!
Now try getting them to respond to any complaints. They already have our money, why would they respond to me to explain themselves?

Long-distance move from Indianapolis, IN to Comstock, NE

Careful and Efficient.

I am never eager to move because I collect objects, many of which are large and all of which are fragile and costly. Therefore, it takes a lot of time and effort to research the best possible service. I am pleased to say that Long Distance Relocation Services did not disappoint me at any point, from the time I first contacted them for a quote to the delivery and unpacking of the final item on moving day. It is really great to see such professionalism. Thank you, for a job well done.

Local move within San Diego, CA

Move San Diego CA to Wheaton IL.

I know this is a cliche, nevertheless, I would give these movers a -5 star rating if possible.

They bait and switch and given false numbers regarding their load-in to bump up the moving price. They Under estimated the move them, tacked on almost 2,000 cubic feet to the final load out.

In my circumstance, LDRS, used half packed boxes (with out any packing material) and dodgy loading tactics to give the actual load out.

My job had allegedly been 3,500 cubic feet, however, the boxes fit into a 3,150 cubic foot storage locker. When I finally rearranged their hapless unloading in the unit, the total came to 2,670 cubic feet. After I checked all of the boxes and repacked them, the total cubic footage was 1, 840 cubic feet.

LDRS and their agents/employees also misplaced/stole $17,500 worth of merchandise and damaged or broke another $11,000 worth of household goods including china, Waterford Crystal, damaged appliances, cracked Denby china, broken boogie boards, damaged bicycles and many other items.

This company is currently not authorized to operate according to the D.O.T. (as of this writing on 01/27/2019).

Sufficed to say, they only possible recuperation I might have available is arbitration or a civil law suit (negligence, misrepresentation/fraud and conversion.) Unfortunately, I believe they may be going out of business.

I will also be looking into filing criminal charges against the company in California for theft, larceny, fraud and/or misrepresentation.

In the end, we did not have them deliver to the destination. We had it delivered to a storage unit so we could get out from under their malfeasance.

M. Canada.
