Long-distance move from Massachusetts to California

SCAM - Don't hire.

My household goods have not been delivered and could be considered stolen. This is a fraud company who'll never honor their contract and will demand more money after they pick up your goods.

Check online reviews carefully regarding their other frauds,

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Louisiana

Never Use Liberty!! Total Scam!!

Liberty moving group is a TOTAL SCAM. They use the bait-and-switch approach and the initial quote/estimate is low to get people to hire them. I used them to move for PA to LA in September 2012. My sales rep was JESSICA, who turned out to be the most dishonest person I have ever done business with. I went over my inventory list with her multiple times and she gave me a quote of roughly $1200 and told me that as long as I stick to the number of items on my list, my quote will not change. However, she failed to mention ( because she is a lying, dishonest and manipulative woman with no values or ethics) that the movers and driver will break down each item into multiple items. So she listed my bed as 1 item but the movers disassembled it and it multiplied from 1 item to 8 items. Imagine my shock when the driver told me that I owed $2600, instead of the original quote of $1200. I tried to argue with the driver but he told me that the contract states that the price will go up if my items go up. Also, they use sub contractors as carriers because the truck that picked up my stuff was not the same truck that delivered it. The guys who delivered my stuff told me that they were sub contracted by Liberty. I was planning to sue them but I got busy with settling down. I hope this helps others who might be thinking about using Liberty.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Utah

Comparisons.

I've now got all 3 final quotes. I thank you for your help and professional work.

As you know, the final quote required all misc. expenses and fees to be included in the price per cubic foot and to use 525 cubic feet. There can be no additional expenses at pick up or drop off other than the quoted cubic foot prices for the overages above 525 cubic feet. I truly got apples to apples comparisons for all 3 quotes. The result at 525 cubic feet is as follows:

Horizon-   $2047.50  @  $3.90 per cubic foot     (overages @ $3.90- if 100 cubic feet over add $390)
Payless-   $2140.00  @  $4.00 per cubic foot     (overages @ $4.00- if 100 cubic feet over add $400)
Liberty-     $2020.00  @  $3.85 per cubic foot     (overages @ $3.70- if 100 cubic feet over add $370)

As you can see, all 3 quotes are very close. When prodded the price per cubic foot went from a range of 3.7-4.5 (4.06 avg.) to 3.85-4.00 (3.92 avg.). The $835 total cost difference in the original quotes was reduced to just $120. I made it no secret that I was price driven in this decision and did my best to give all an even playing field.

In the end Liberty is not only the best price at 525 cubic feet, but also getting even better if overages develop. I Have chosen to use Liberty for my move next week. Going into the move, I am confident I made the best decision, and hope that when the move is concluded I feel the same way. If for any reason the move doesn't go as planned I hope to keep all 3 of you informed.

Again I thank all of you for your professionalism.
 .

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to North Carolina

Liberty Moving Group-DO NOT USE.

I called LIberty moving group for a quote to move us from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. Sean and Chase were all over us to use their services and called 8-10 times a day until we agreed to use them. However after we signed the contract and paid our initial deposit. They were non-responsive and did not respond to any messages. I even tried to call the company number and all messages were unreturned. The day of the move was a bigger disaster. Chase had used a quote we had from another mover and they showed up to move a 3000 sq foot house with a 38 foot truck. I ended up renting a U-haul on my own and moving the remainder of the furniture by myself. When our furniture arrived in NC, Several pieces were damaged and my $2000 mattress was destroyed. We put in a claim but have not heard anything from anyone. This company is a total ripoff.

Long-distance move from Providence, RI to Portland, OR

Terrible job, terrible service.

When I got my stuff, lot of the furnitures were damaged from poor taping job. Some were scratched and most furnitures have tape remaining. The company workers told me to scrape off the tape myself. (They did the packing)
Few boxes were damp on the bottom, which caused it to rip while moving them into my house. Storage condition must have been awful.
Not only that, I received a clothing rack that isn't mine, which means they lose their customer's belongings.
The price was far over charged than the estimate cost.
Very poor communication throughout the process as well. It tool 2 more weeks than what was promised at first.
And lastly, the truck drivers were extremely racists.

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Los Angeles, CA

Moving (Great Experience).

They packed up our home, stored our move for a few weeks and delivered everything in perfect condition. This was a big move - furniture and 200 boxes. Derek was a very helpful salesman. Moving in and of itself is difficult; LMG ushered us through this process with a great team who were kind and efficient and helped us transition into our new home. I would highly recommend Liberty Moving Group to anyone who intends moving.

Long-distance move from Pulaski, NY to Roseville, CA

Slow and no response to anything.

Contacted them for a move from NY to CA. All is fine till they have your stuff and your money. They subcontract to GM Movers but say nothing about it. These guys hold your stuff, no communication and rude attitudes. My stuff was picked up on Jan 5, it's now Jan 31 and I still don't have it..their dispatch agent Stephan will tell you I will call you back..he won't. I have now made at least 30 calls to get it resolved..not exactly the easier way to move like promised. If my stuff doesn't arrive today, I'm going to file formal complaint for hostage.

Long-distance move from Rochester, NY to Las Vegas, NM

Dishonest.

I have moved about twenty times in my life, nationally and internationally, with different moving companies. Garland Movers, which is part of the Liberty Moving Group, is by far the worst mover I have had experience with (note: on most sites it is impossible to leave a review about Garland itself, as they pretend to be closed, as far as leaving reviews is concerned). This is the type of company attracting you with a low-ball estimate at first, then once you have become their customer, they will lie on the volume of items being moved, and will not hesitate to take your belongings hostage until you pay the difference.

In my case, I had exactly 421 cubic feet to move. I knew the exact volume, because my items had been professionally packed by another mover, and stored during one year in a storage place! The only thing Garland had to do was moving the already packed boxes… I had been very clear with Garland Movers about this point, before signing their estimate: « A situation I want to avoid at all costs”, I wrote before they took possession of my belongings, “is you telling me, after loading the items into your truck, that ‘well, it might fit in 421 cubic feet when in crates, but it did not fit in 421 cubic feet in our truck’. If the items fit in 421 cubic feet, and if they are handled by professional movers, there is no reason why they would not fit in the same volume once in a truck… Your reassurance on this point is crucial”

Despite of Garland’s reassurance, a few days after my items were picked by Garland Movers, I got a call from them telling me that the volume they had moved to their NJ warehouse was 621 cubic feet, not 421! They then literally took my items hostage, sending emails like this one: “would you prefer picking your items up in New Jersey?” (by that time, I already was in New Mexico). They then pretended that they had no working phone number to contact me, just to justify the fact that they were not willing to get my items out of their warehouse before I would pay the extra money they were unduly asking for. I eventually received my items about 6 weeks after they took possession of it, but not without any collateral: to lower their costs, Garland subcontracted the delivery to another company without my consent, and without letting me know in advance. Consequence: a box was lost in the process, a box that contained some items that cannot be replaced, including a painting, an expensive knife, and shoes. When I told Ken J. (my contact) about the matter, he just advised me to get reimbursed by the insurance (at a rate of… 60 cents per pound!)

On the top if it, I realized months after the fact that Garland Movers had made an “error” when debiting my credit card for the deposit, debiting $825 instead of $632. Just a honest mistake, of course… It took them about three weeks to get reimbursed for that money.

Conclusion: if the estimate it too good to be true, it probably is. Especially if it is the kind of price ending with “999.95” and that includes a rebate. You are probably dealing with a struggling company ready at everything to steal some business from the more honest competition.. If you are being scammed, do not hesitate to contact the consumer frauds division of the local Attorney General, as well as the Better Business Bureau. The moving industry is unfortunately riddled with dishonest companies, and Garland Movers is a shining example of how dishonest and rude some movers can be.

Long-distance move from Greenlawn, NY to Delray Beach, FL

Horrible, unethical company.

If I could leave a negative it would be be minus 100. RUN AWAY DO NOT USE !! I had an estimate for $999. They charged over $2300. Totally untrue as I verified by measuring and almost all of the boxes were the same size. Missing 7 boxes, and those I did receive were in poor condition, many things were damaged. They lie about using only their own trucks and hire outside contractors. Pickup was in a Budget Rental (registered in Oklahoma) & delivery was another company entirely. Pick up & delivery crews both asked for tips. Multiple Emails and phone calls were not returned. I needed to send a certified letter and it still took 5 days to respond. Then they wer going to call back with a counter offer. Got an email attached to one they claim not to have received telling me he was too tiredu to call that night and it would be the next day. Two weeks later & I am still waiting. They definitely think they can take advantage of a female senior citizen and are 'barking up the wrong tree'. with that. Next step is small claims court.
