Long-distance move from Worcester, MA to Morgantown, WV

The biggest disaster on the Earth !!

This company is a total disaster, never ever choose this company for any delivery. They constantly lie !! Please pay attention to the reviews here and do not choose this company. The review with 5 stars are not real experience. do not trust them. There are two reviews one is only one star and the others are 5 star, the 5 stars are entered by the company I guess.

Slow and no response to anything.

Contacted them for a move from NY to CA. All is fine till they have your stuff and your money. They subcontract to GM Movers but say nothing about it. These guys hold your stuff, no communication and rude attitudes. My stuff was picked up on Jan 5, it's now Jan 31 and I still don't have it..their dispatch agent Stephan will tell you I will call you back..he won't. I have now made at least 30 calls to get it resolved..not exactly the easier way to move like promised. If my stuff doesn't arrive today, I'm going to file formal complaint for hostage.

Long-distance move from Rochester, NY to Las Vegas, NM

Dishonest.

I have moved about twenty times in my life, nationally and internationally, with different moving companies. Garland Movers, which is part of the Liberty Moving Group, is by far the worst mover I have had experience with (note: on most sites it is impossible to leave a review about Garland itself, as they pretend to be closed, as far as leaving reviews is concerned). This is the type of company attracting you with a low-ball estimate at first, then once you have become their customer, they will lie on the volume of items being moved, and will not hesitate to take your belongings hostage until you pay the difference.

In my case, I had exactly 421 cubic feet to move. I knew the exact volume, because my items had been professionally packed by another mover, and stored during one year in a storage place! The only thing Garland had to do was moving the already packed boxes… I had been very clear with Garland Movers about this point, before signing their estimate: « A situation I want to avoid at all costs”, I wrote before they took possession of my belongings, “is you telling me, after loading the items into your truck, that ‘well, it might fit in 421 cubic feet when in crates, but it did not fit in 421 cubic feet in our truck’. If the items fit in 421 cubic feet, and if they are handled by professional movers, there is no reason why they would not fit in the same volume once in a truck… Your reassurance on this point is crucial”

Despite of Garland’s reassurance, a few days after my items were picked by Garland Movers, I got a call from them telling me that the volume they had moved to their NJ warehouse was 621 cubic feet, not 421! They then literally took my items hostage, sending emails like this one: “would you prefer picking your items up in New Jersey?” (by that time, I already was in New Mexico). They then pretended that they had no working phone number to contact me, just to justify the fact that they were not willing to get my items out of their warehouse before I would pay the extra money they were unduly asking for. I eventually received my items about 6 weeks after they took possession of it, but not without any collateral: to lower their costs, Garland subcontracted the delivery to another company without my consent, and without letting me know in advance. Consequence: a box was lost in the process, a box that contained some items that cannot be replaced, including a painting, an expensive knife, and shoes. When I told Ken J. (my contact) about the matter, he just advised me to get reimbursed by the insurance (at a rate of… 60 cents per pound!)

On the top if it, I realized months after the fact that Garland Movers had made an “error” when debiting my credit card for the deposit, debiting $825 instead of $632. Just a honest mistake, of course… It took them about three weeks to get reimbursed for that money.

Conclusion: if the estimate it too good to be true, it probably is. Especially if it is the kind of price ending with “999.95” and that includes a rebate. You are probably dealing with a struggling company ready at everything to steal some business from the more honest competition.. If you are being scammed, do not hesitate to contact the consumer frauds division of the local Attorney General, as well as the Better Business Bureau. The moving industry is unfortunately riddled with dishonest companies, and Garland Movers is a shining example of how dishonest and rude some movers can be.

Long-distance move from Greenlawn, NY to Delray Beach, FL

Horrible, unethical company.

If I could leave a negative it would be be minus 100. RUN AWAY DO NOT USE !! I had an estimate for $999. They charged over $2300. Totally untrue as I verified by measuring and almost all of the boxes were the same size. Missing 7 boxes, and those I did receive were in poor condition, many things were damaged. They lie about using only their own trucks and hire outside contractors. Pickup was in a Budget Rental (registered in Oklahoma) & delivery was another company entirely. Pick up & delivery crews both asked for tips. Multiple Emails and phone calls were not returned. I needed to send a certified letter and it still took 5 days to respond. Then they wer going to call back with a counter offer. Got an email attached to one they claim not to have received telling me he was too tiredu to call that night and it would be the next day. Two weeks later & I am still waiting. They definitely think they can take advantage of a female senior citizen and are 'barking up the wrong tree'. with that. Next step is small claims court.

Scammers.

I used Liberty Moving Group from NJ to CA. First of all, they almost doubled the price at the time of the move. Second, they broke one of my bookcases at the time of the move. Next, they broke a glass sofa table and lost 2 of my boxes. Finally, they agreed to compensate me for the lost which amounted to a measly $78. They got me to sign a release form and never paid the amount. Such a bad business! Never use them.

Last minute heros !

I have to say, after seeing these reviews I was definitely skeptical; however from the initial phone call from Jack, everything went well. I needed a last minute move out of my apartment in NYC for a job relocation. We spent the whole time over the phone going over all the items needed to move out of state and Jack explained everything from start to finish..

Best part Liberty Moving Group was able to accommodate my move on such short notice and next day, they were here !

Charlie and his crew were extremely efficient and wrapped everything perfectly..

Week later I received my goods in Texas and not a scratch was visible.. I am very grateful for Liberty Moving Group. I would recommend Liberty Moving Group despite what I have read online..

Great sales team that is knowledgeable but not pushy.

I had a chance to work with Derrick from Liberty and he was great to work with. He was patient and followed up regularly on my move. Never pushy and always willing to share relevant and useful information that Imight need. In the end, I didn’t get to use the service as my hiring company paid for my move through another carrier. Had that not been the case, I would have moved forward with this company for the professionalism they showed throughout.

Do Not Use!!

DO NOT USE!! These people are criminals. They completely underestimated the cost of the most. The final bill was four times the initial estimate. Well some of this was legitimately me having more than I realized, The cubic feet that they quoted me for would not have come close to being enough for the things that I accurately told them about. They charged me almost $8000 to move a 1200 sq fr 3br house from Boston to CT. There was no dining room table and fairly minimal furniture. Unfortunately they take a big deposit. They underbid the initial and then call two days before for a final breakdown. I was pretty accurate with what I had at that point and they gave me an updated estimate of $3600. Final bill was $7800.

When I tried to call to discuss the issue with them, they hung up the phone on me. When I tried to call back I was on hold and they would not pick up.

To make matters worse, they broke several items and it's proving difficult to file a claim. DO NOT HIRE!!

Increases, stolen and damages.

When the moving truck appeared 2 days before my condo closing the first thing the man in charge (JR) did was to increase my charges from $4000. to $7000. saying that I took up more cubic feet (the truck was losely packed), I had already been increased fron $2000. to $4000. the day before I was told there would be 3 men instead there were 5 men JR didn't do anything except talk about his family and how much he earns until I agreed to the increase (had no choice)I asked them to wear masks (covid-19) JR told me he didn't believe in it. The other men either had them below their noses or not on at all even though I kept saying something. JR told me my items would be delivered two days later, they came three days later with an outside contractor who said he was doing a favor He charged me another $250. to go to the 2nd floor. I had 11 items damaged

(my furniture is only 4 years old), one item is my grandmothers sewing machine which is an antique and am missing all the decorative screws to my standing mirror, bed frame (which they packed)and worse of all my late fathers tool chest is gone. I have called 3 times, Adam kept telling me they will look for it and call me back but nobody calls back, I asked to speak to a supervisor but Adam would not connect me. I sent JR many textes which went unanswered still no tool chest. It seems that it has been stolen as things don't just disappear. This is unacceptable!!

Please don't employ this moving company!!

A Great Moving Experience!

My team of movers, JR, Sammy and Hassan were very professional, courteous, and friendly. The foreman, JR, knew exactly how to maximize time so that his team worked as efficiently as possible. My furniture and belongings were placed exactly where I wanted them and items came to me in very good condition. I was very pleased with the way they took such good care of my belongings. Thank you, guys!??

Liars and thieves

In the beginning everything was perfect, they replied promptly to my inquiries and they gave me the lowest quote. They gave me a quotation for 250 sq ft at $1,125 and when they showed up at my place, a guy named Rami said that because of the way the truck is set they cannot put other people’s stuff in the same “lane” of the container so I had to pay for the full lane, which was an extra $774. They ended up charging for 422 sq ft and he said that since I was paying for it any way I could add more stuff so I added a small bench. When it arrived at the destination, I saw the truck and there were other person’s things in the same lane when I was told I had to pay for it all because they couldn’t put other people’s stuff. When I called the company, they always said I had to talk about it with someone else and that person wasn’t there or other excuses, so I sought the help of the Better Business Bureau, and then they responded saying they couldn’t give me my money back because I had sent more stuff than what they quoted for, but I measured everything and including the small bench I added, it was 147 sq ft, much less than the 250 sq ft that we’re initially quoted and it was all because of a lie about the lanes in the truck container.

Destroyed my belongings

Words can not describe how shocked we were when our precious belongings finally arrived at our new home. Everything was filithy, boxes were up side down, and all of the boxes were crushed. When we looked in the truck, our belongings looked like they were thrown in and were pilled to the ceiling. It became clear there was no regard for the the labels on the boxes ,although many of them were very clearly marked fragile. As your team unloaded the truck, we quickly realized items and boxes were missing. As we began to unpack, while your team was still here, we realized that many of our irreplaceable family heirlooms were broken. Many boxes had bugs in them, and our clothes, towels, and other personal belongings were totally covered with mold with a smell that will never come out.

Besides our belongings, we requested our things be delivered on September 2nd. When we called to confirm this, it took numerous phone calls and messages before we reached someone. To our dismay, we were told our things were not on a truck and you were not sure when they would be put on, but it would be at the end of that week. Well, that did not happen. They were finally on the truck the following week and we were told by Mike the driver would call us 24 to 48 hours prior to arrival. Well 24, then 48 hours passed so we called the driver, 96 hours later, only to be told the truck broke down and he had no idea when they would arrive and that he would call us back that day and provide us with an update. We never hear from him so we called him 3 days later and he let us know he would be at our home the next day.

I would not recommend Liberty Moving Group To anyone!!

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

***Thief's*** Do not use Liberty Moving Group - Scams!!

Moved from NY to FL - was in contact with the company voice Derrick who gave me a great price for moving and painted such a great team of people. I've been planning this move for months since March speaking with Derrick as my dates for the move kept changing. Finally, the time came to move (Nov) and they showed up. The price went from $1800 to $5000 claiming the cubic ft was more than they anticipated meanwhile I send a video of the Apt showing what I had. I was then out in a really desperate position as I couldn't find anyone else or even a truck to rent and had to give in and let me load my stuff. Upon delivery, they damaged my Sony OLED TV, picture frames, my color laser printer, and furniture. They said to file a claim which after 3 months "Anthem Claims" assessed the damages @ $81.00. This is a fraud and a scam company and they claim to take credit cards and they do not when they show up. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE FOR ANYTHING - They are a ripoff - if you are considering using this company - move it yourself and save money and your property from being damaged. I will now contact the better and lodge a complaint regarding this scam of a company. I've heard of people having these horror stories with moving companies - now I'm one of them. I implore you to run if these people contact you about a move - Do not use Liberty Moving Group!

Absolute sh*t

This might be the worst moving company I’ve ever dealt with. Unprofessional does not even come close to the experience I had with liberty moving company. First of all they lie about the price, then showed up to my apartment asking for 2000 in CASH on a Saturday in a sketchy budget box truck. It took 3 weeks longer than the guaranteed arrival date go receive my furniture and I was without furniture for 4 weeks in my apartment. An absolute nightmare, the “shipping manager” called me a liar multiple times and was outright rude. I would rate 0 stars if I could I hope they don’t survive COVID because it’s an outright scam. I have never been more angry about an experience in my entire life, this was beyond stressful. F*ck u Liberty moving

Scam from start to finish

Long Distance move of contents of 2 10x10x8 from Central Pennsylvania to Central Kentucky. Worst professional experience of my life bar none. Quoted $4200, charged $9,800. After everything is on the truck I'm told they have to charge me for 2400 cubic feet because they had to repack everything, and they're being generous because their not charging me for the packing or the materials. Simple math here: Maximum volume of the storage units were 1600 cubic feet. Paid the money because I needed my stuff. Got it all the next morning without warning (a sunday) but they wouldn't offload because they only take certified checks or money orders. Two local guys they hired to help did all the work to offload. DON'T USE THESE THEIVES!!!

Ripoff artists

If i could give no stars i would!!This company sucks and will rob you blind in more ways then 1. They gave me quote of 6800.00, got to my house and told me I had to much stuff. So now price went to 16000.00. Not to mention stole every piece of gold jewelry I had. Left my sterling silver. So my dead father's wedding ring my ring I got for my 21st birthday. As well as my dead fathers coin collection. And held my stuff for hostage because didn't want to pay the fees they were charging. Considering I had almost everything out of house and boxed in garage. Do not use this company. And you will also be contacted by The Moving Squad. They are working together. And probably split the profits on eveything they steal from you. Plus ruined my couch and love seat by putting tape on it instead the plastic I had it wrapped in. So they do not save you money in anyway at all. Not to mention I told them that I knew they were going to steal my stuff. So you would have thought they would try to prove me wrong. Unprofessional, smoked pot in back of truck while on break. So as everyone says karma is a bitch and she is a redhead so watch out all you asshats because karma will get you.

I booked my move back on June 18 with Derrick. I went over what would be moved. The move was from Connecticut to South Carolina. My move in date was to be July 30. I was quoted $2300. I also was told the move would take 2- 5 days. It took me 3 weeks of phone calls, emails and texts, reminding Derrick of my move in date. Didn’t here back from him until yesterday July 24 that my things would be picked up today June 25. The movers showed up at 9 am & gave me a price of $6300 and my things wouldn’t arrive for 14-21 business days. Even though I booked the move ahead of time. Derrick assured me on June 18 that my pick up would happen and since I am booking well in advance that it is not a problem with getting my things moved in on July 30 isn’t an issue, since I booked more than a month in advance. So needless to say, I have to be out of my condo & find someone else to move me in such a small time frame. Do not book with them! Bait and switch. Now I am stuck moving everything on my own and renting a truck. I am a 100l pound women. That is why I played it safe and booked 6 weeks in advance. Definitely got screwed. I bought my plane ticket and paid to have my car trailered there as well. Now I am out plane fare and won’t have a car. Absolutely horrible!

Detained my property stating they can by law for 30 days

Buyer BEWARE! Extremely rude, prices rose dramatically when they came and demanded full payment prior to completing the contract of moving our property. They moved our property from Philadelphia to Florida to some back alley warehouse. When we got worried about why it hasn’t made it to Texas they became irritated and rude. It took me to write the BBB before I got action from them. I can’t even see if my items are ok and not damaged because they want their full payment before completing the move. Horrific movers - save yourself, do not use

This company was sub-contracted by a moving broker that scammed me. they charged even more than the broker binding estimate and broke a ton of my stuff. the movers on pickup were good, but they literally broke my bed apart. the boxes had clearly been literally thrown. luckily they were well-packed so the amount that broke was not enormous, all things considered, but pretyt much one breakable item per box was broken. They did not wrap my bookshelf in blankets as htey should have so the shelves got totally banged up. And there was water damage on several boxes.

On delivery, the driver literally hired 2 guys off the street to unload. so no certification, likely not covered by proper worker's comp insurance, etc.

this company is TERRIBLE.
