Moving

Searched for movers online and found positive reviews for Let’s Get Moving. Even though the move was a small one (condo to condo), having done many moves before this one we knew how stressful moving can get. Every person we dealt with, from the initial contact to the team moving us, were professional and made the move so easy and stress free. The movers themselves were careful and super efficient. Highly recommend.

Moving from Toronto To Brampton

I was with Oscar and 2 other movers. These guys were great. I was surprised when they started to see them start running around packing stuff as fast as they can. I expected a little more sluggish pace based on the size and time of my move (12 hours) but they were quick with everything. Nothing was damaged. They minimized the time and the quote was reasonable at the end of the day.

Let’s Get Moving!

We recently had to move and we chose Let’s Get Moving as our movers. This was our first time with Let’s Get Moving I cannot thank enough our moving helper Rohit and his colleague as they were very calm and helpful! Moving is painful as it is and to make it more difficult, we had a snow storm on our moving day but, I am so happy to say that our move went smoothly nonetheless!

Great Experience

Had a great experience with Let’s Get Moving. Had top service the on-phone and email correspondence. On move day, they arrived at scheduled time. I was moving from a storage locker to house, and moved my items with care and swiftly. My 2 movers were very personable and guided me in their process. They moved my contents to where I wanted throughout my new home. Everything arrived safely, I would recommend them for your moving needs.

Amazing experience!

This is my second move with "Let's Get Moving" and neither of those would have been possible without their crew. Although I have packed everything in advance, there were several sizeable items that I was unable to wrap (like a couch), and they did it for me in a matter of several minutes.

Both of the movers who arrived were very professional, incredibly helpful, punctual, and handled all of the items with utmost care.

Good Per-Hour Rate, Professional

I have used this company for moving twice, and they have given me the best per-hour rate out of all the movers I got quotes from. Plus the workers are understanding, easy to work with, and know what they're doing. Keep reading for price and details.

They have a 2 hour minimum, of 1 bedroom or higher would take less than 2 hours. My latest move, in December 2022, was from a 1 bedroom unit (mattress, bedframe, bookshelf, small dining table, 4 chairs, desk, coffee table, kitchen island on wheels, office chair, large TV and TV stand, plus lots of boxes) into a basement apt 5 minutes away. It took a long time to wrap all the furniture (2.5-3 hours), and then to unload it all into a basement apt. Altogther the move took around 6 hours or so, and cost about $1200 CAD. It was quite expensive but moving furniture into a basement apartment is ridiculously hard. Keep in mind, paying with cash is a flat rate (but you won't get an invoice), but debit card has tax added, and credit card has tax plus a fee.

Note that they do charge a lot for materials - Packing paper was $40 CAD for me, and I needed only a little (I have a big heavy stack leftover), and a mattress protector was $20. Get these yourself beforehand if you can. But certainly get their TV case if you have a TV to move. That was my biggest fear since their liability only pays you back based on the weight of the item damaged, not its actual value in any way. I don't know if that is standard, but it is how they, and one other company I asked a quote from do it.

Just FYI:

My first move was a moving from downtown Toronto to North York, a single bedroom (1 mattress, a couch, a bookshelf, a large desk, a chest of drawers, plus boxes I packed myself) into a 1 bedroom unit with 2 stops along the way, and that cost me $594.53 CAD in 2020. It was an great rate considering my stops were in to a storage unit on the West side of Toronto and, Etobicoke.

Overall Bad Experience

This was my first and last time working with this company. We had an agreement to move all my furniture and 2 business days before the moving date, I signed up for an ancillary storage arrangement where the company would store 3 of my items. The company called me the day before the big move to tell me that if I didn't sign the ancillary storage contract, they would not proceed with the entire move!

So hours before the big move, they threaten not to go ahead with moving me on account of a minor administrative matter. Keep in mind that this is happening in a highly stressful time when you're organizing your move. They threaten you knowing full well that there can be significant consequences for you if your move doesn't happen on that particular day. They make the threat precisely because you are vulnerable. Thuggish business practices!

I would have given this company 0 stars, or even minus 10 stars, but the system doesn't allow it. I will now be lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which will add the many complaints already on file for this company. I highly recommended not hiring this company on your next move. By all means, take the time to conduct your research and find a moving company that respects its customers. It will have been time well spent.

ps - this is only the second time in 30 years that I complain publicly about a services provider.
