DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. Took 37 days to get my move! Called them multiple times and all I got was "move is delayed". No explanation, no delivery date, no common courtesy, nothing. This company in unprofessional in every aspect. They are unethical, untrustworthy and the worst company I have ever dealt with. If I could give negative stars I would. Total nightmare. I did not book this company. I booked another who subcontracted this one. Buyer Beware when you book a move!

Liars and thieves.

If you have been scammed by this company and would like to make something happen, please send me an email at reniahtalley@gmail.com

The worst experience ever in life!! Star relocation quoted a binding price of $1500. LD came to my home and quoted us about $700 more! They charged whatever fee they could and maximized it. They know people are the most vulnerable when they are moving cross country and they take full advantage of it. They made me leave behind a $300 bike that was INCLUDED in my quote because they tried to charge me for it again. They lied about the cubic feet, they lied about when they would be delivering it and they made it MY job to have to reach out to a driver for this company that I DID NOT HIRE! It is NOT my responsibility to play phone tag with YOUR drivers. The driver screened calls and avoided me as much as he could because he knew he lied to me TWICE about my delivery time. It went from 3pm today to 7am tomorrow. If all of my stuff is not here at 7am in the same condition it was in when they loaded it on that truck, I WILL go through EVERY avenue to get what I am owed and going through their claims department isn't one of those avenues! This driver LIED and said he couldn’t find my address, I gave him my direct address, the address to my rental office AND the name of the apartments AND sent him a screenshot of the location on google just for him to say “oh its not in my gps” and “oh I sent you a pic of the gps not showing the address”. I promise they wont get one red cent more from me when they get here and if anything is stolen, they can guarantee I will sue their driver, LD AND star relocation. I WOULD ONLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY, TO MAKE THEIR LIVES HELL OF COURSE. They aren't good for anything and idk how they're even in business after all of this time. The driver blocked my phone number but when I facetimed him he answered. I know people in high places and it wont take long for me to get his face as well as the name of this company out there.

Update: they snapped our $1000 California king tufted wingback headboard leg in half and someone emailed me after talking to CS saying to get quotes so they could repair it but then someone from the claims dept sent an email stating they would only pay .60 per lbs which is about $22! The cubic sq ft is charged to us @$4.29 but the cost of our items is only .60! Im going to contact other users and get a lawsuit started. Idc what the contract says. This is scamming!

Went smooth..whew!

Move was good. I sent some stuff to my cousin and she said delivery went well . Pretty professional nothing out of the ordinary. Nice crew and sufficient customer service. I'm not sure what all the fthis regarding this company is about.  It was relatively normal move no funny business. I did call a couple times and I couldn't get through but I was called back within the day. The movers looked like regular movers and nothing was broken or damaged.

LD Moving and Storage is Horrific.

This was the worst experience I have ever dealt with from a company.  The delivery date and time was late.  Would not update us or return our phone calls.  When they finally arrived the driver grabbed my husbands arm 3 times and told him he owed him lunch.  Furniture was broken, they were very rude.  We put in a claim for a broken washer, ripped leather sofa, damage to an antique 1939 dresser and they wanted to give us 48.00 for the damages.  They charged my credit card without an authorization form filled out or signed by me for more than what was verbally agreed.  Worst company ever!    .

Long-distance move from California to North Dakota

Your Worst Nightmare.

Nightmare of an experience. Inaccurate estimate. Terrible service. Turned into a civil dispute. Jon A. asked me questions on the phone to estimate the cost. The movers showed up 3 hours late and once the truck was loaded the ESTIMATE TRIPLED! I explained I could't pay that price and asked them to unload the items. They refused. I called the Police and who also asked the men unload the items. These men were stubborn and confrontational con artists and are very good at it. They are not movers! They are merely brokers and they will make you wish you loaded every item into a rental truck by hand. Do not take a chance with these movers. Find a mover who owns thier own trucks and reviews well. I tried to save some money and learned a hard lesson because of LD Moving and Storage.

LD Moving and Storage is aweful and they are Theives.

This company stole several high priced items.  This company is a scam.  They referred me to a bogus claims department and then settled on a laughable amount.   I now forced to seek legal representation to prevent this company from harming other people.   By all means do not use this company when looking for a mover .  They are dreadful people who like to take advantage of families that have to move quickly like we did.

LD Moving & Storage is a huge scam.

This company is a scam. I spoke with Mike and he gave me the same quote twice for my very specific apartment furniture. The movers came a day before the day we had agreed upon. They came in, moved all my furniture out, and then when it came time for me to pay, they charged me $216 MORE than the agreed price - they fed me some crap about extra square footage and necessary packing materials (neither of which I had agreed to.) Once I heard this, I called Mike to discuss. He said he would talk to the owner and get back to me about the overcharges. The customer service went downhill from here. An extremely rude woman from the office called me and told me I was wrong about the charges and I was actually getting a discount. I told her never to call me again, AND THEN SHE CALLEd ME BACK. Mike called me again and said he would get back to me AGAIN. I never heard from him about the discount and had to pay the extra $216.

I am extremely upset not only about the inflated price but also the horrible, nay, the WORST, customer service I have ever received. They will quote you a reasonable price, then screw you in the end game with "necessary" overcharges. And then never call you back.

Long-distance move from California to Idaho

Damaged goods arrive late.

I wanted to move two rooms of furniture to my vacation home. The movers arrived on time, but said it would be extra to take two pieces I wanted moved even though I thought I had specified exactly what I wanted in the shipment.  The furniture was to be stored for a few days and then delivered to Idaho within a specific time frame when I would be at the house.  The movers called the day before I had to leave and said they would be three days later than expected.  I had to arrange for someone to meet them on their arrival because I had to go.   When the furniture arrived, my dining room table and two leaves where warped from water damage and the arms on two dining chairs were broken.   I called the LD who refused to talk to me except to refer me to their insurance company.  I filed the required claims in August but to date have heard nothing from them.  Poor company, poor service .

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Great experience.

We had a great experience with L D Moving and Storage.  We got a quote from Mariah and was pleasantly surprised that it was reasonable and well with in our budget.  Since it was less than some of the other quotes I was a bit skeptical but Mariah was wonderful and answered all my concerns. Luis picked up our small load, he gave me a clear time of when he was going to arrive, and then called 20 minutes ahead of time.  He was respectful and took great care of our things.   Our items were delivered to Austin from California within the time frame that they gave us.  The delivery was handled  both carefully and professionally.  The driver let us know 3 days in advance when he would be at the apartment.  He then communicated the night before and again 30 minutes prior to delivery.  I would give this moving company 10 stars.  If you are totally honest with how much you have to move they can give you a great quote. I highly recommend this company.  .

Satisfied Customer.

Although, I had to pay for storage for 2-3months, I have no complaints about L&D Storage!  My furniture and industrial sewing machines arrived to my new location in the same condition at the time of pick up.  My only suggestion is that you make sure you are clear on all added storage fees.  This company will also work with you if any financial situation that may occur. Of course, you have to make sure all fees are paid but they will give you a little lead way. I was so pleased that I sent L&D a thank you email. One Happy Customer!

Long-distance move from California to Florida

What a mess.

What a mess- I would not recommend LD Moving & Storage for any first time movers.  There were so many things that we were purposely omitted when asking specific questions about the services that would be provided.  Unless you are an expert long distance shipper and already know what is in the fine print of this company’s contract I would not suggest using their moving service.

We moved from California to Florida using LD Moving and Storage, and the timetable for the delivery of items was unacceptable.  Over the phone when we made the deposit we were told by Ally Stein that our items would get there within a few days as us since we were taking a 10 day road trip.  Our preferred delivery date was 8/27, and we did not hear from the company until 9/5 when they gave us a 4 day delivery window of 9/7 to 9/10.  When those days came and passed and we received no information from the driver, we called and were given an updated delivery window of 9/13 to 9/15.  On 9/14, 19 days after our delivery date and a full month after pick up, our items were delivered.  Turns out, Ally lied about the dates, but the contract we signed (which says delivery can occur up to 30 business days AFTER the delivery date) prevents us from taking any legal action.  Ally should have told us that the average delivery time for less than full truck loads is measured in number of weeks, not days.  If we had any idea about the time it would take to get our stuff we would have paid extra to go with a different company or just driven the truck ourselves.

When the moving truck did arrive at our new apartment, it was a 75’ truck.  The contract specified a 44’-53’ truck, but what it meant to say was 44’-53’ trailer attached to a truck.  We had no idea until the morning before it arrived that we would need to rent a truck and manage the cross loading of all our items.  On a Sunday.  We ended up taking delivery for out items in the goodwill parking lot with a rented 14’ U-Haul to avoid the $400 additional fee it would cost to have the driver rent a truck and cross load our items.  The driver was very nice and helped us out.

When our items arrived, many of them were bent, crushed, and damaged.  Even though it is not mentioned in their contract, LD Moving and Storage will not take responsibility for any item that the owner packed in a box (even if the box is crushed) or any item made from pressboard (which is most furniture from Ikea, and unfortunately, our dresser).  Even though we paid the moving company to put blankets around all our items and pack them nicely, if they happen to do it wrong they are not liable for the resulting damage.  You also have no legal standing unless the damage is noted when you take delivery on the item list, and much of the damage to our items was masked by shrink wrap and packing take.

I hope this helps some first time movers!  Next time I move, I am going with a company that will allow me to read the contract before the day of the move, put the delivery range in the contract, and actually take responsibility for their services.   .

Poor Service.

Don't contract with LD Moving and Storage - don't do it.
Drivers deliver and place king mattress in dry gutter leaning against trailer and off loads the rest of my belongings taking about 45 minutes. Take my mattress in and place it on box springs and make their exit. I go in to make bed and mattress is soaking wet, but drivers say nothing about water damage. I take pictures and contact LD Moving by phone, then email with photos attached, I receive claim form, fill it out and send it in. More then 40 days after my claim was filed, they offer me $60. I explain gutter water is run off from drive ways and yards that have spilled gasoline, engine coolant, weed killer, fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides and are known carcinogens and that I have purchased a new mattress and the contaminated mattress is sitting in garage.
These obtuse people suggested cleaning the mattress, total disregard for their customers health. I Inform them a Cal King Simmons Beautyrest is $1,449 replacement cost. They respond "$60 dollars is all you are entitled to by law". I respond that I did purchase insurance, their response, you should have purchased the extra insurance and end all communications. I will post this as often as I can and on as many web pages as a warning to other consumers NOT TO DO BUSINESS with LD Moving.

Dishonest quotes.

SCAM! Bait and switch! I have a 10 x 10 storage locker. I haven't seen it in 6 months and didn't have an exact number of boxes. Sarah told me that it would all probably fit in the smallest size based on the "cubic feet" of a 10 x 10 locker. I said we'll lets go the next size up just to be safe. She said it wasn't necessary but that's what we scheduled. She then said "worst case scenario and you need even more than that, which is unlikely. total cost will be $1500 or $1600. Absolute Worst case scenario."

They get out here and want $1900. Twice what my estimate was! Way more than the "worst case scenario." The driver was nice but I told him this was pretty crappy and seemed like a bait and switch. I told him to call Sarah and it seemed like she/the company was full of it on the original quote but we needed to figure this out. I expected her to come on and go back to the $1500-1600 she had quoted for worst case scenario.
He gets her on the phone, she doesn't even say hi she starts with "you are calling me a liar?!"
Excuse me? She then goes off at me about the number of boxes and cubic feet. I reminded her that I told her we had a FULL 10 x 10 storage, didn't know the exact number of boxes and the average person knows nothing about cubic feet of storage lockers. I cancelled them, but I hate to think that we would have had to pay that if we had no other options. Do not believe their quote, it is a bait and switch.

Terrible.

They packaged and shattered my tv and offered me $84 as a refund. They also came 3 days later than the window. Then came 2 hours late the day of. AND THEN they only had one person to unload my stuff. I have heavy furniture that cannot be carried by only one person. I had to hire my own people to unload the truck and they will not recognize that and giving me no discount or refund on the delivery. They were all WRONG and I am so upset that I just didn't move everything myself!!

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Chicago, IL

Scam/fraudulent Company Criminals.

If I could give -5 stars I absolutely would. Plain and simple this company is a fraudulent scam! DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES.
Let's start by saying if the price seems to good to be true, IT IS. This is how they lure you: you fill out some moving site for a quote and many companies will contact you. If you are moving across the country or to several states away for a two bedroom you are likely to pay anywhere between 3.5k and 5k PERIOD. That is what all REPUTABLE moving companies will charge you. This company gave me a bogus quote of 1.5k and if you are in a bind it seems quite attractive. I was very excited and took the quote despite the HORRIBLE reviews. When the movers got there they tried to charge me 3.8k!! That over twice the amount I was quoted! They were eye balling my belongings and guessing how many cubic square feet it was jacking up the price TREMENDOUSLY. I literally had to go over every single item and call them on their [EDIT] one by one. They tried to say my 8 yo sons bike was 20 cubic feet! So after going through every single item I had and negotiating the size I went down to 2.8k. At that point I was feeling like they got over on me but I was still ok because all the other moving companies wanted 4K+. So I just shook that off.

Fast forward to the drop off. They called me the day before they arrived on a Friday, (mind you they are closed on saturdays, listen very closely because this is all apart of the scam) they called Friday and said I would be charged an additional 500$ because semi trucks were not allowed in Chicago. Well I knew that was bs because I've lived in Chicago my entire life and see nothing but semi trucks. Mind you they initially told us that our stuff would be dropped off in 26 footer so where the hell is this semi truck even coming from?

So my husband looks up the Chicago truck routes and lone behold our street is on the truck route. We sent the link to one of the representatives and she too was confused. She put me in touch with her boss Sarah who is also apart of this scam who then tried to say that semi trucks were not allowed at my building. So it went from their not allowed in Chicago, we disproved that, to its not allowed at our building. We talked to the property manager who said if a semi needed to unload they could pull in front of the building. Sara called the property manager (which should have been done on the front end of the move not after they DEMANDED I pay 500 additional dollars) she specifically asked my property manager about if a semi could fit in the loading dock, which it could not, she ran with that and didn't bother to ask where could a semi unload, had she did she'd know it could unload in the front. Now this gets messy so it's important to note THERE WAS NEVER A SEMI TRUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE! I spoke to the driver and our stuff was on 26 footer ALL ALONG. He told me they had been driving this truck FROM THE WAREHOUSE. There was never a transfer of our items so all of this semi crap was [EDIT] to extort $500 from us.

If you refuse to pay the extortion costs to get your things and wait until Monday to dispute it, they are ALL apart of the scam so they will not side with you, you will still have to pay the extortion costs for your things and then you will be charged an $800 REDELIVERY FEE on top of all of that.
The dispatchers will like to defer to the moving company as independent contractors so it will seem as if all of this is out their hands and in the movers hands and they will pretend to go back and forth like they are different companies and THEY ARE NOT. Sara the head hauncho is the head of the operations and she is apart of the entire scam. They are rude and disrespectful once they have your stuff and they will extort you for every dime you in order for you to get your stuff.
PLEASE IF YOU ARE MOVING GO WITH A COMPANY WITH GOOD REVIEWS THEY ARE PRICEY BUT WITH THIS COMPANY YOU WILL END UP PAYING THE SAME PRICE AND YOU WILL GIVE YOUR MONEY TO CROOKS.

Local move within California

Do Not Transact With These Psychos.

LD Moving & Storage is extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unreliable. I originally chose them for my cross-country move, because the quote seemed fair and I believed that the stress of waiting a few weeks for my furniture would be less than that of having to purchase new furniture. This was not the case, mainly due to the way the company treated me throughout the process. The company’s lack of communication, manipulative behavior, and failure to take responsibility for any issues that arose are the reasons why I had such a terrible experience.

I have never felt compelled to inform the greater public about such terrible service before. I know there are many moving companies that have bad reputations and many people have bad experiences. However, every step of the way I encountered frustration and psychological torment by the sales coordinator, who is the only person customers have direct access to. I would advise you to stay away from this company as I assure you the process will not be easy, cost-efficient, or fair.

Long-distance move from Ladera Ranch, CA to Prosper, TX

Move from CA to TX - Do not use LD Moving & Storage.

My family (me, my wife and 1 child) and I recently made a move from California to Texas, about a 1,500 mile trip. We packed up a 3 bedroom home of stuff to be transported. Initially, I spoke with a shipping and transportation brokerage, Alliance Van Lines. The representative I spoke to was helpful and quoted me a fair price. As per their business model, Alliance then connects a move to a local carrier who can pick up the job if they decide to do so.. LD Moving and Storage was assigned the move.

Although the fair quote mentioned above changed dramatically (almost doubled - FYI: this post is not about the $) upon pick up, they (LD pick up crew), did their thing, wrapped our things and put them into a van.

I found out later that our stuff then sat in some random location waiting for another truck (an 18 wheeler) to pick it up. How long did my stuff sit? I do not know. Where did it sit? I do not know. Was it secure? I do not know. FIRST TAKEAWAY - know where your things are.

What I do know is that is when the issues started. There must have been a misunderstanding with regard to delivery time frames - I figured if they collected our things about 1 week prior to my preferred delivery date, we should not be sitting in TX without our stuff for too long - I was happy to get a hotel or alike for 2 or 3 nights. I was told however, that our stuff would not leave for another week. SECOND TAKEAWAY - be very clear upfront on delivery time frames.

After multiple very frustrating calls with the Owner of LD Moving and Storage, Ziggy (spelling may be off), I had no choice but to pay an expedited fee to get our things to TX as soon as possible OR, we could wait until some random 18 wheeler came to get our stuff.. again, or stuff was sitting somewhere unknown. After about a week of hotel rooms, I gave in and agreed to pay the expedited fee. From that agreement date, it took them 3 days to get to TX.

I was assured that our stuff was the only move on that truck - it was not. When they arrived, I stood at the loading end of the truck while they asked me whether or not certain items were mine. At the end of the unloading, there were multiple items still on the truck that were not ours. Writing this, I am still unsure whether we have all our things.

Let's switch gears however. LD agree to disassemble your furniture if needed and reassemble at the destination, no baby cribs. As an example, one of the crew members attempted to assemble our bed frame and head board - it's a large unit but fairly easy to do. When I went into the room to inspect, the rails were upside down / wrong side around and all other ways of wrong. Not to mention, each screw was loose. I highlighted this to them, they fixed it but again, screws were not basically falling out. At that point, I told them to leave and I will complete the screws myself. THIRD TAKEAWAY - these guys are not professionals at anything. Check their work.

Subsequently, I have followed up with the owner of LD, Ziggy. My intent was to first, get the facts about the move. Specifically, if our things were the only items on the truck. This is important as my company is reimbursing part of my move and they needed to know - to which Ziggy replied, just tell your company that it was all your stuff.. FORTH TAKEAWAY - this is one testament (of many) to the LD Team..100% truthful? most definitely not.

Second, as a paid in full customer, I wanted to have my concerns heard about the experience. To that end, I was not listened to; I was interrupted and ultimately told to what whatever I want. LD Moving and Storage did not want to hear from me OR hear about my experience, period. They do not care about the level of service provided - the way I see it: there are enough people needing to be moved, Ziggy and his know this, and simply collect the $ before any work is done, completes the job (sub par) and moves onto the next one.

FINAL TAKEAWAY - my recommendation is to NOT, under any circumstances, use LD Moving and Storage. Moving is tough enough - the last thing you want to deal with is a less than upright business owner who does not care about the job that he or his fellow employees complete; just as long as they get paid. One last comment - there are multiple things broken and damaged from the move. A claim will be made.. Ziggy did not want anything to do with this either.

Long-distance move from La Habra, CA to Kansas City, MO

Overcharged and no customer service

I actually hired International Van Lines (broker) and they hired LD Moving & Storage. I had a good bid from IVL of 500 cubic feet($4,265). IVL hired L D Moving & Storage to move my stuff. LD Moving said I had 750 cubic feet($6,265) even though IVL and LD Moving inventory differ very little. LD Moving says "this always happens" that their estimates differ greatly from IVL. IVL defers to the carrier no matter what-even after "investigation". I have tried to contact two people at LD Moving with no response. When movers show up at your house and you feel they are overcharging there is little you can do. We had to be out of the house in 4 days-too short a time frame to hire someone else. I do not recommend International Van Lines or LD Moving & Storage. Beware!

Long-distance move from Irvine, CA to Denver, CO

You have been warned

I don't even have the energy to write a complete review on this company. I was set up with them they international van lines which apparently is a broker. This company showed up on day of move with incorrect paperwork (quotes didn't match) and International van lines didn't answer or check in day of move and I had to blow them up. While trying to compare the quotes, the driver of the moving truck forcefully grabbed the papers I signed out of my hands and started screaming at me and trying to intimidate me. He would not let me take photos of the items I signed, and instead insisted I was being neurotic. I tore off the signature pages in the exchange and he stormed out to his truck. Later, I went outside (bc my stuff was already on his truck and I got on the phone with one of the people from LD moving and I had accidentally mixed up a charge amount while speaking with him over the phone, and once I corrected my error he dismissed me and yelled at me for "wasting his time" even though I had shared with them that the driver near assaulted me in my own home in front of my mom and my partner. This is NOT okay. Never trust these guys. They are the lowest of the low. Literally dirt human beings. At least my move is done, and I never have to deal with them again. You've been warned about this boiler room "moving company" - TRASH

This company, however, is beyond scummy. The drivers try to tell you they are contracted and don't work for the company. They act as though all things are out of their control. I confronted the driver and questioned his employment status and he ADMITTED to lying to me. This is a group of trashy people working out of a trashy office (quite literally - their address ties back to a trash yard. Perfect fit for this company!

They damaged lots, and seemed unconcerned.

My grandfather passed away and left us his machinery in his garage. We used LD to move 7,000 pounds of machinery. Driver said he'd deliver at three- showed up after seven. A 1600 pound lathe fell onto it's face. Driver first tried to tell me they laid it down on purpose. After my brother, myself, the driver and two of his helpers couldn't get it upright, he confessed that it fell. Two more people were brought in to help, and the seven of us barely got it upright.  Can't believe a 1,600 pound object fell in the back, and went unnoticed by the driver. Hmmmm. Truck was rated to carry 3,500 pounds, but they loaded with 7,000. Damage was extensive, and rendered two of the machines worthless. We are now going through negotiations for settlement, but if they cared and shipped everything correctly, we wouldn't have to go through this, and I wouldn't be writing this- I'd be in my shop.  Don't have any advice on other companies to use, merely this- DON'T USE LD SHIPPING AND STORAGE.  Find a company that actually cares.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REVIEW MY PDF (attached) THAT I'VE ATTACHED, IT DETAILS THE DAMAGES, AND SOME OF THE HEADACHES WE ARE NOW DEALING WITH.

Great Experience.

I needed someone to help me carry and move my things to my new house asap. When my friend informed me about topline, I never had second thoughts of calling their numbers due to my immediate need. Within a week, I was able to get my things moved and I'm currently sitting pretty with my new chair in our terrace of my new house. It is all because of them! More than one company at work here!

First of all, the company (LD Moving and Storage) sub-contracts the jobs out. Once you reserve their moving services it gets handed off to another company who lacks the professionalism and timeliness to handle the move on time. Upon the arrival of my items, I noticed some items were damaged and some were "lost" (a.k.a. - stolen). These items were on the inventory list when they were picked up but mysteriously vanished upon arrival. To collect any type of reimbursement from the company you need to fill out tons and tons of paperwork. It's not worth it and neither is this company.
