Imperial Moving and Storage

My roommate and I recently used Imperial Movers to move out of our 2 bedroom apartment into two, separate studio apartments in Manhattan. Their pricing was competitive; coordinating the move with the office was quick and easy; and the moving team was great. Lead by George, the movers were quick, professional, and organized—even with two different drop-off locations. They handled our fragile items with extreme care, taking extra precautions to ensure nothing was damaged in transit. They even had great attitudes about lugging heavy items up 5 flights of stairs. George and his team really made moving day stress-free, and I’m so glad we went with Imperial Movers. I highly recommend their services.

This review is about their interstate moving. Do not use their services. It's been a month since they picked up my stuff. They sent me an ETA for delivery then said the truck broke down. They sent another ETA and now the drivers have COVID. I have been waiting for nearly a month to receive my stuff. Not worth the price. Go with another service.

I've been homeless for 30 days waiting for Imperial to move a simple one-bedroom apartment to South Carolina. A one-bedroom apartment, that's it.

I totally believe the Covid because the workers did not pack my stuff up with masks on. I was the only one in the apartment wearing one. No precautions were in place at all.

They have ruined Christmas for five people and two are out of airfare because their tickets a nonrefundable. One was planning on spending Christmas with his newborn, the other has two toddlers he will miss Christmas with, and the other has a grandmother on life support in ICU who he wanted to visit for Christmas. They are all stuck in South Carolina because of Imperial.

I've never written a review but feel like I have to because this was the worst moving experience I've ever had. DO NOT use these movers if you like anything you own.

On the front end, the movers were SUPER late did not communicate. They were rushing to finish the job (because they were so late) and kept saying they were done but I would see things they forgot. When asking for payment, I saw a west elm floating shelf had been left. He then took it off but all he was focused on was getting his tip. He called me 5x after leaving within about 15 minutes to get his tip which I had already paid via venmo (his requested method of payment). No surprise, he the west elm shelf was never included when I received my stuff on the back end.

I stored my stuff for a period of time, and when I received it back it was an absolute DISASTER. They were hours late with no communication. I couldn't get in touch with anyone at the company. Then come the damages...

- Broken console table (broken unsuable)

- Dented tufted bench (looks terrible now, and it was $1000 dollars originally)

- Couch looked like it had been stored somewhere wet (had to pay $300 dollars to get it clenaed)

- Missing shelf (as indicated above)

- Broken lamp

Just all in all a disaster. After FIGHTING for weeks, I got $280 (moves on both end were ~$1300, I paid $200 for storage each month, and I tipped about $400) so what a JOKE. back from the company which is even less than I tipped the movers (because I know they depend on it but still so frustrating). I honestly debated going to small claims court because of how disrespected I felt both in my communication with the company and due to the treatment of my stuf.

All in all THE WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER and it's at market value. Do not use EVER. Also, for context, I've used a lot of other companies and happy to provide their names if you leave a comment!

Amazing service provided by Imperial Moving. About a month ago I chatted with someone on their website and they told me its cost effective to find a local mover since I was moving FROM chicago. However they did say I could reach back out to see if they have a load coming from Chicago and to my luck they did! They provided a cheaper quote than the local movers I found. Not only that, they provided a bunch of stuff that these other companies were charging me small amounts for which eventually added up to be wayyyy more expensive. It was such a simple, carefree and easy move I really couldn't believe it. Not only were they able to help me with something they don't do if it's not crazy expensive, but they gave me a super affordable quote and such amazing service. I received the delivery just a few days ago and boy it was again so simple. Among all the other bs I had to deal with while relocationg, they really took a load off of my shoulders.
