Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Yanceyville, NC

Moving to NC

Our move to North Carolina was seamless, all thanks to GPS Moving & Storage, especially their operations manager Tammy. She handled all the logistics expertly, ensuring our belongings reached safely without a hitch. Tammy's professionalism and helpfulness turned what could have been a stressful event into a pleasant experience. I'd recommend GPS Moving & Storage to anybody for a worry-free move.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Dallas, TX

Don’t Trust.

Run run run as far as you can come this moving company. We used them to move our items from California to Texas, it was the WORST moving experience of our families life (we move often for work) The company destroyed EVERY piece of furniture we have worked so very hard for. Damages came to over $30k - They refused to apologizes or take account for any wrong doing. On top of destroying everything they messed up the delivery time not once, not twice but 3 times, not that is mattered, when we FINALLY got our stuff from a STORAGE unit (not even our house, where it was suppose to go) every item was damaged. We then had to hire ANOTHER company to remove our items from storage to our new home. When we finally spoke to someone they gave us a lovely credit of $300. lol! $300!! Let me remind you, they ruined priceless furniture, expensive TVS, family heirlooms. Its a sad company, run by piss-pore people. For the safety of your family and your items, I highly encourage you to use another company. One with compassion and morals. It will save you months of crying over your hard earned items. Shame shame shame on this company & Tammy (Pssst) Horrible lady.

PS --The driver of the truck who missed the delivery several times (because he said he went out and drank) then added us on facebook and harassed us because we reported him to the company. We were in fear for our life, because he knew where we lived.

Official company response

First and foremost, I'd like to express that we don't take clients feedback faintly. It was very disheartening to read this review especially since we had addressed all of the concerns over 7 months back when delivery of your belongings took place. Your delivery was scheduled within the allowed time frame, but due to prior commitments you were unavailable to accept delivery. GPS Moving arranged easy access storage facility and placed your belongings there for you to access at your convenience. Even though we were within the allotted time for delivery we still refunded $373.80 for the inconvenience and for some of the boxes being damaged. The structure of the boxes were tattered but the actual contents within the boxes were not reported to us, 7 months after delivery took place to a storage unit in TX you have posted this review to 6 different review sites. We are not sure if the items remained in storage these 7 months and who moved it out of storage for you. We have made several attempts to learn more about the damages you are mentioning in your review and requesting pictures (not of the boxes but actual contents to be sent to us along with the claim form provided. Please feel free to submit a claim form - we are more than happy to correct any wrong doing. - please call us 858-779-1316.

Long-distance move from California to Pennsylvania

CA to PA..Great Job GPS.

We recently used GPS Moving to move from San Diego, CA to Pittsburgh, PA.  We were very happy with GPS Moving and would definitely us them again for another move. All of our stuff arrived in good condition and all items were accounted for.  I got quotes from about 6 moving companies (small and larger van line companies) prior to choosing GPS. I chose them based on their very competitive pricing and also because a friend of mine had done the exact same move and had a great experience with GPS.   GPS Moving were professional from the start to the end of our moving process.  Avi came out to give a quote based on our moving items and he was very insightful and helpful with tips on how to have a move go smoothly. He was straight forward with GPS' pricing and it was good to hear to no-nonsense approach on how he arrived at his estimate. Avi was also very helpful on moving day and throughout the moving process.   The crew worked their tails off and packed and handled everything with care.  We packed most of the boxes ourselves but the items they handled all arrived in same condition they were when they were packed.  Tammy was also very helpful in the office setting up the contract and final pricing. She was responsive and clear on the contract and was able to work with us on reaching a price we were both comfortable with.   Overall, we would definitely use GPS Moving again. For being a small business it was impressive to see them be able to meet all our needs on a long distance view.  For anyone moving out there I'd advise you to have you inventory locked down so you know excatly how large your move is what cost you can expect. Once your list is set give it to GPS, pick your pricing option, and let them take it from there.

Local move within Virginia

The worse Moving Company ever.

We used GPS to move from San Diego to Virginia and it was the worse experience we ever had with a moving company, they broken several furniture and lost several boxes. Stay away from this company, they want only your money, if you are luck and nothing happen, good for you otherwise you will be dealing with rats, as they do not care about you at all. their score at BBB means nothing and BBB will not help you at all. You are by your self. Stay away from this company and look for a real reputable company. Please take my advise as I am experimenting this very low profile company.

Long-distance move from Menifee, CA to Kearney, MO

Worse experience ever.

When the movers picked up the items it was great quickly pack and wrapped the items and put them in the truck carefully. Delivery was another story. First they pulled out our $4,000 cal king mattress which was folded like a taco. Our twin mattress had some type of diesel fuel all over the mattress. We had box springs with 1.5” hole completely through the mattress. Our electric fire place was completely broken into about 6 pieces and unrepairable. This was all documented on the delivery bill. Pictures were taken of each item and copies of delivery documentation were submitted and claim was made. After ~70 days we were sent a letter saying they would settle claim for $78. We would need to sign the waiver and have it notarized (another $10). Screw the $78 (.60 cents per pound). Do not use these people unless you want most of your stuff broken and or stained. They tell you you should buy insurance for the move which is an additional $500 for a $4,500 move. I wish they would let me post pictures of the items damaged. Horrible, horrible and horrible. Never again. This is just a warning for others. I am screwed but hopefully you will read this and save yourself the heartache we have experienced. My next review is going to be at the Better Business Bureau.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Dallas, TX

Run Away!!

If I could give this negative stars I would. Do NOT.. I repeat do NOT use this company. I am still dealing with them a month after my move without resolution.

My items were completely destroyed & some missing. I paid for them to pack my items & move me from San Diego, CA to Dallas, TX.. my TV was only covered in a blanket and completely smashed. I had a computer desk that was completely destroy along with a mirror they failed to protect as they promised they would.

They taped items in between cushions..this is NOT what I paid for. After speaking with Tammy Cruz about the problem & my first review, she basically bribed me to take down my review. Here I am.. with a release form to release them from negligence (which I am fine with doing).. however, they want to also include a non-disclosure agreement to prevent me from doing what I am doing now.. I will not give away my first amendment right!

Avi (dispatcher) is extremely rude. Vanessa will be so friendly in the beginning and give you comfort on their services, but BEWARE.. this place is a complete SCAM!

Official company response

Thank you for forwarding Mr. Cruz’s complaint to our attention. We appreciate his position and acknowledge that errors were made during his move. In response to Mr. Cruz’s inquiry, our manager made a sincere attempt to resolve his concerns promptly and fairly, however Mr. Cruz was unwilling to accept our requirement of confidentiality. Instead, Mr. Cruz chose to lash out with multiple negative internet reviews, posted on multiple websites, using various aliases. Mr. Cruz has gone so far as to access a private website, which also contained images of an employee’s family, and posting inaccurate and false information derived from that website.

GPS Moving made a good faith effort to resolve Mr. Cruz’s complaint. Mr. Cruz responded by acting maliciously and in bad faith. Yes, a mistake was made, the result of human error and poor judgement, but the action was not malicious. GPS accepted responsibility and offered Mr. Cruz a generous compensation package, which was predicated upon one condition, confidentiality. Mr. Cruz declined our offer because of his firm belief in his first amendment rights, and instead embarked upon a scorched earth campaign, whose scale of viciousness and meanness of spirit far exceeds any injury we caused. Instead of compromise and negotiation, Mr. Cruz prefers to just bully.

We also refuse to give up our rights. GPS Moving will not reward bullying behavior with good intent and good will. GPS Moving has an established claim process in place to assist customers with transit related claims. Mr. Cruz filed a claim and will be compensated fairly and in a manner consistent with federal law and the contract terms.

Long-distance move from California to Arizona

GPS Moving.

After reseaching various options for our move from Southern California to Arizona, we settled on GPS moving.  The move took place over the very busy time between Christmas and New Years Eve.  Everything promised by GPS was delivered, the movers showing up when scheduled and delivering our furniture the following day as scheduled.  I stayed in Caifornia while the movers loaded up and my husband went on ahead to our new home in order to be able to meet the movers the following morning and supervise the unloading of the truck.  Both he & I had agreed that the move went as smooth as possible. All furniture was wrapped and protected, thus arrived without any damage. Upon delivery the movers put everything in the proper rooms as directed - the movers even went so far as to help my husband unload his 4-runner!  Only slight glitch was that a step stool made it onto the truck in California but did not get unloaded at the new home.  Additionally the footing on an old plastic stand up fan was broken (which is the only reason that the "damages" option was checked).  No problem tho, GPS did not hestitate to send me the funds the replace the missing step stool, very happy with the customer serivice.   The moving cost was resonable, and we would not hesitate to recommend this company!   .

Long-distance move from California to Virginia

Highly Recommend GPS Moving of Santee, CA.

I give GPS Moving a Five Star rating! The entire staff, moving team and truck driver helped me through a very emotional cross country move. After only a few days of the unexpected death of my mother, I had to arrange the move of her antique bedroom set and other miscellaneous items from San Diego CA to Northern VA. Being prior military, I never had to select movers and I really didn’t have time to go through a lengthy interview process. I had to have my mother’s things out of her retirement apartment very quickly. From the moment I spoke to Tammy on the phone and explained my urgency GPS delivered. I was a bit thrown off by them accepting only cash or US Postal Money Order’s on delivery, but once Tammy explained why they have this procedure in place, it made perfect sense to me. The packing team arrived on time and meticulously wrapped each piece of furniture. Tammy was extremely patient as I kept calling back adding items because I kept finding things of my mother’s that I could not part with during the move. After all was loaded onto the local truck, I was assured my items would be kept at GPS Moving’s warehouse until loaded onto the semi to come east. This was a HUGE plus for me, because all the damage I have had in past military moves was when my items were stored by separate companies. The truck driver called me twice while in route to Virginia at which time we discussed access into my neighborhood for his truck and available parking. The driver reminded me of the payment options, which I thought was helpful even though I had already secured my US Postal Money Orders. The truck driver and co-rider arrived within the time frame they gave me and quickly and carefully unloaded all my items. I am also very pleased to announce NOTHING was damaged!   I would highly recommend GPS Moving to anyone who wants an honest, professional and safe move.

Long-distance move from California to Georgia

GPS Moving.

Prior to the day of our move, September 4, 2014, Abe came over to our house and estimated our cubic space and gave us a price estimate.  We told him that we were looking at another company as well, who were going to pack for us as well.  To help seal the deal, Abe offered to include a pack job with the move if we went with GPS.  He assured us that all items would be wrapped, packed, and boxes would have a complete inventory list along with proper labeling.  Abe made us feel very comfortable and assured us that we were in good hands.

The day that our move was scheduled to be packed and loaded, the movers arrived close to 1 hour late.  Having driven up to Los Angeles from San Diego, we could see how this is possible.  However, they did contact us to advise us of their being behind schedule. Upon their arrival, the packing began promptly and furniture was wrapped first.  There were inconsistencies in the items that had doors/drawers taped and secured before they were wrapped and those that didn’t. We had damage to several items-one specifically where the door had been snapped off at the hinges.

Most of this furniture was purchased fairly recently before the move and no longer looks or feels new. Our baby’s crib was dismantled and packed with the front wooden rail apparently packed against the spring or something metal, so it arrived scraped up across the entire front.  There were a few fragile irreplaceable inherited items that didn’t make it either, due to improper packing.  Our media center, that was brand new, arrived with damaged corners across the three piece item.  The shelves were damaged on the corners, where it was plain to see by the damage that they had been dropped.

So many boxes were packed with a deliberate lack of care that we have to question how anyone would expect the items inside to arrive undamaged.  Boxes of fragile items were thrown together with no packing materials.  One box, that we packed ourselves and labeled “fragile”, arrived with a huge gouge out of the box.

The professionalism of some of the packers was in question too.  The mover contracted from the LA area brought his family to pack.  It was obvious that his sons and wife were not professional movers and should not have been permitted to be working the job.  Not only did this factor into an unsatisfactory packing job, but it slowed down the entire process.  To have to listen to him yell at his sons throughout the day continued to make us feel uncomfortable and did not make us feel as confident in the professional company that we hired.

The movers that delivered our items here on the Georgia end were great; they were apologetic about the broken items and did their best to place boxes in the correct rooms and area which was difficult as about 75% of the boxes were not itemized or labeled from which room they were packed.  This left us to go through every box after the movers left and move them again to the proper room to be unpacked.

Lastly, scheduling a delivery date for our items to be removed from storage and sent to us here in Georgia was a bit of a headache.  It took several days of calling to receive an arrival date.  We believe this to be not of the norm and situational to our case. Being a small family owned business, we understand that Monica was in the office by herself and she certainly seemed apologetic when we did speak to her.

In general, the feeling that we have about GPS is that MUCH more care could and should have been taken.  Regardless of our decision to purchase additional insurance we did not anticipate GPS to handle this job so poorly.  We have been told by GPS that they have made changes to their moving staff and area contractors after the problem with our move.  Although we wanted more, GPS has worked with us and we have negotiated a resolution.
