Near the end of December 2021 an opportunity arose for us to move to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia [Harrisonburg]. We began our planning for the move immediately. Within a week we located an apartment we liked, signed the lease with a move in date of March 11, 2022. The first week of January 2022 we began our search for a moving company. Our preference is to support and use small businesses when possible, so we began our search using this criteria. We settled on Don Farr Movers; they had several positive reviews. We called and arranged to get an estimate. On January 10, 2022 we received the estimate [$4,838.08] and signed all the paperwork and paid the required deposit [$3,020.00]. The furniture was to be delivered on our move in date. For a reason I do not remember, the moving date was changed to March 12th. Then we receive a call stating that one of their trucks was involved in an accident in Colorado and they had to fly a replacement driver to Colorado and our move would be delayed until March 13th. We were assured the truck would be leaving first thing in the morning, 8-9 AM. Later that morning we find out that the truck did not leave until almost noon. Enroute they had a flat tire; another delay. At 7:46 PM we receive a call asking if we still want the furniture delivered tonight. We stated emphatically YES. They finally arrive at 8:30 PM. When they arrived I noticed two things: [1] it was not the same truck that was packed in Pittsburgh, and [2] only two movers came. We were being charged $190/hr. for three movers The first truck was packed properly, boxes in first, then furniture. The furniture will be the first off the truck and will be placed in its proper location. They had obviously backed the trucks up to each other and just unloaded from one truck to another.

Now we have more than 100 boxes coming off before the furniture! Now my wife and I [Ages 70/61] will be moving the boxes so we can then move the furniture to its proper location. Before they began unloading, I told the driver he needed to move the truck around the corner to better unload. He told me “Look at the size of this truck, it will not go around that corner. Here, I’ll get out and you can try it.” I said “OK. I’m waiting.” He did not reply or move. [Is there anyone else on this planet that believes an apartment complex would be designed so a moving truck could not reach the residents?]. They stopped unloading at 2AM and the driver told me they would finish the next day. We said no, finish it now. The driver told me “he was either stopping now or driving the load back to Pittsburgh”. I told him I wanted a phone number of someone in charge. He gave me (412) 330-7352 which I called at 2:07 AM. I left a message that we are not satisfied at all with our move and to call me back at my number. It is now Thursday afternoon and I have not received a return call.

We began with an original move date of March 11th. The move was not completed until March 14th. If this is what Don Farr Movers calls a successful move, we vigorously disagree.

I have moved about 12 times, this is by far the worst ever. They damaged 6 pieces of furniture, had about 20 marks on my brand new walls, broke 2 pictures and a metal storage rack. One guy was not mentally stable. The guys were having a party and not too interested in doing things right. The guy putting together the furniture was the only one working for the last 2 hours as the other 4 guys sat there and watched him. A disgrace! Sent in my packet for damage. I did not get insurance. Big mistake. Nor have I heard back from the company. Its been over a week. I just thank god i carried over all my expensive items from my family or they would have been destroyed. If you value your belongings do not use this company.

The movers arrived and began using our bathroom..all the men did their morning duty within a short time after arriving.
My husband had a large amount of change in a container on his workbench..after the movers were in the basement for a short time, he noticed that almost all the change was gone. He went to the guy who seemed to be in charge and told him that he didn't care who took it, but they better put it back. A few minutes later one of the guys brought some (not all) of the change to my husband in a plastic bag and said he put it in the truck for "safe keeping."
On top of all that my beautiful and expensive furniture was ruined..scrapes and scratches in the wood, leather on the recliner was rubbed off on the corners, pieces of antique furniture lost, and several things broken. We still have many boxes in storage and who knows what condition those things may be in.
Plus, after ordering pizzas and sodas for everyone.. the guy in charge told me that I should tip all the men because they don't make much!!
This company is absolutely horrible..a group of dishonest individuals who just don't care. Be smart and find another company if you value your furnishings.

The guys are not trained on safely packing your precious belongings on the truck so every piece of furniture that I had taken care of for 30 years in perfect condition has been ALL DAMAGED in just one day..I am devastated..and they rush you to write a review as soon as you go in the door before you have a chance to look around and see the damaged..I am just so sad as I sit in my new place and look around at all the damage of furniture and walls..please use another company and save your self some heartache..
