Long-distance move from Kansas to Arizona

Buyer beware.

We are very unhappy with compass.  After detailing with company salesman, we were quoted ~$6800, however after the truck arrived I was told that was not correct and I would need more space but that would be determined later in the day. By the time we arrived at that point it too late to do anything else. Additional fee~$2500. Then added in packing material.  We had scheduled the full service move but only one man and driver arrived over 5 hours late. After about 4 hours the driver then sought a couple extra hands.  I had to have the house empty and clean that day to be able to close early the next morning. They were supposed to be there 2 days before. I had been in contact with company regarding packing and space allotted but they insisted the quote was accurate. After paying top dollar for storage, we were not notified till the day before delivery that we had be available at 0800 the next day.  They didn't arrive till after 1100. It took till late in the evening to finish and they were pressing to get moving as they had to be in Los Angles the next morning.  Even though we paid for full service, we had to help to get it done. It distracted us enough that we didn't compare the load list to actual numbers.  It wasn't till several months later after getting the boxes emptied we discovered so much missing such as sub woofer, HD computer monitor, X box, WII controllers, games movies, entire kitchen boxes, sons letter jacket.. Etc etc etc.  I sent an e mail to company but no reply.  Oh, I also discovered a tear in a couch, too late. They sound good but don't very lacking!

Long-distance move from Texas to Virginia

Great moving experience!

This is a great company! My furniture needed to be rerouted to another location and they were very professional and prompt in putting in this request. I got a call about when my furniture was picked up and in transit and the driver kept me informed the entire time. They arrived 5 minutes early and took care to ensure all items on the inventory list were there and undamaged. They took care of my things as if they were their own. At one point they thought an end table was missing and took the time to find it. I would recommend this company to anyone who is moving whether it is across town or across the country.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Henderson, NV

Great Mover!!

The professional team consisted of Charles and James created a nice package for me. I hired for a short distance move. On move day, road was absolutely free, so it was easy for the guys to deliver in short time. I must confess, they did hard work for my move and I think this is the way they have increased their reputation and experience. I will definitely use these guys again in the future.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

I WOULD GIVE 0 STAR IF I COULD.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING TO SCORE YOUR BUSINESS THEN THEY BASICALLY DISAPPEAR.

TRYING TO GET THEIR MOVER TO COME? GOOD LUCK.

My move hasn’t been completed yet and I have already regretted my decision to choose them for my move from California to Texas.

I booked the service and scheduled February 26 to be the pick-up date on January 28th, after the sales representative stressed that I have to book early to “secure” a spot due to high demand.

I did and now we are at the week of moving. I’ve been calling them every day this week in an effort to confirm the time of the pick-up. All I got was “your schedule is looking good”, “we will call you later to confirm”, “don’t worry”. And today, which is a day before the pick-up, I have to call to learn that they won’t come tomorrow and there’s still no confirmation in terms of when the pick-up will be done. (There’s no proactive communication at all from them)

Now I’m at their mercy and hope that someone will actually show up to do the job I pay them to do, at the time I scheduled.

Quality Move

I scheduled my move with Compass which I was very skeptical about. I got all these calls from all these companies telling me all types of stuff. But after doing my research and noticing Compass had an A+ with the BBB I felt comfortable. I spoke to Robert , David , and Amanda. I scheduled back in March and moved this past weekend . Super professional and they didn’t increase my price which is what every company told me their competitors would do. All in all I’d recommend them to friends and family. Would definitely use them again!

Poor customer service

We are planning a long distance move and contacted Compass Van Lines and spoke with Amanda Baker. We made arrangements in advance for a scheduled video face time of our contents however after waiting and calling the company, I was told that they can reschedule after I wasted my time which apparently they felt wasn't valuable. I then hesitantly called back a few days later to give them a second chance. Amada gave me her word that she would block off time for no calls and even give me a call 15 minutes prior to our face time meeting. I again rearranged my schedule to receive her call and for the second time she was unreliable and never called. I reached out to this company again and she told me that she was with a client and that she would get back to me in 10 minutes. NEVER HAPPENED!!! I do not recommend this company because the customer service with this individual was horrible.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Holiday, FL

Buyer Beware

I signed a contract 4/5/21 with Compass VanLines who subcontracted with First Premier, given a verbal guarantee of delivering my furniture, etc in 30 days. I paid $1357, and then to pay $1017.71 at pickup and delivery. Pickup date was 4/12/21 in IL. I was already in FL, and a relative waited all day for pickup. They were 8hrs late.

I called both companies weekly for ETA after 4/12. Then Compass had to confirm with me which company they subcontracted with, because they apparently changed their name from First Premier to Unlimited Movers; then my name was not in Unlimited Movers database since the driver never had an inventory invoice and never entered my information. Additionally, instead of an inventory invoice, the driver scrawled a handwritten note as evidence of the pickup.

Then both companies stated they knew my items were in the warehouse but couldn’t find it. My girlfriend back in IL showed up at their warehouse with my pics and list and FOUND my items. That was 6/5. Unlimited Movers promised delivery within 10 days. On 6/14 both companies said my items were on a truck. And they repeated it again on 6/22. I asked to speak to management at Compass. The customer service rep— I know 7 of them now—said “We are the management team”. And “We can’t force them to deliver your items”. It’s now 6/25, no calls and it’s been 74 days since the pickup on 4/12 with no resolution.

I retired as a nurse after 37 yrs. To move from IL and care for my 87yo mother in FL. I lived through the Covid pandemic caring for my patients. I came in every day. I was a Chief Union Steward for my hospital. I now have PTSD due to the unbelievable stress and mismanagement of the hospital who were unable to provide us with enough PPE. Two of my nurses died. This is the reality I re-live everyday. Now I cannot even have piece of mind and have my belongings returned to me. I cannot understand why a moving company will not abide by their contract and be so cavalier about their contractual obligations.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Florida

NIGHTMARE!!

I am in the midst of my move. Pick up window was 6/24-6/26. Delivery date was 7/1. Vango picked items up on 6/25. Not enough room on truck. Consequently was told a truck would be sent on 6/26 to pick up the remainder of my items.

I am still waiting for the remainder of items to be picked up. Today is 6/30 at 9:25 pm. I am left with no recourse because they have 75% of my possessions. Needless to say this is the most incompetent management/customer service and ethical company that I have ever encountered. I am reporting this company to DOT. Draw your own conclusions. David the owner, Vernon the sales rep, Melissa - Ops Manager, Bella, Barbie, Robert - no help at all.

Complete Bait and Switch with no Recourse - stars are from bots

Typical bait and switch tactics from dirty salespeople. Bids are always, always under what you actually need and the movers that come do not try and fit everything in tightly. Also, it's 2021 - do you enjoy using such antiquated methods as money orders and cash to pay for services? Ever wonder how you will get your money back if things are broken with money order or cash? Long-distance move from Redwood City, CA to Sandy, UT

Misleading and misrepresenting

Having never used a moving company, I started online looking for inter-state movers. I have done the U-Haul across the country in the past, but I'm getting too old for that and I have a lot more stuff than I did back then. Several companies came up, but Compass was the first that was not a paid search result. I called and was treated surprisingly well. They asked questions that I would not have thought of, but also answered my concerns. Everything I asked was always a "yes, we can totally do that; of course we can; yes, that is all included in the price". After getting a quote that seemed too good to be true, I asked more questions. I needed climate controlled trucks and storage for a 20 case wine collection that was not cheap. "oh yes, we have climate controlled trucks and storage facilities". She even emailed me a corrected quote stating that they have climate controlled trucks and storage. I also let the girl know that I have significantly more stuff than your average 1060 sq ft house. She said, "no, I think we've gotten a good understanding of your things. But we will call you 3 days prior to the move to get final measurements of anything you've packed." I provided larger-than-actual measurements to assure that there would be space in the truck.

Imagine my anger, worry and frustration when an Enterprise rent-a-truck shows up the day of my move (with no AC unit in the box). The foreman then tells me that this is way more stuff than was actually quoted and they need to adjust the price. The new quote was almost triple the quote that I was given by Compass. He then proceeded to tell me that the "deposit" that I gave Compass was simply a finders fee to get them to do my move and that I should have simply called them direct. So, on the day I have to get out of my house, I'm being held ransom by the actual movers because Compass doesn't care what we charge, as long as they get their finders fee.

Now, I am in a 20-weeks-and-counting battle with the actual moving company's insurance company for the missing/stolen, damaged, mishandled and destroyed items that are documented at close to $7000, but are "covered" for $96 in their eyes.

Do yourself a favor and find ANYONE OTHER THAN COMPASS!! Look for a mover that actually has their own trucks and their own employees that handle the moves and will care about the job they do. Do not let Compass take your money. You will literally get nothing in return but stress, headaches and troubles for months to come.
